Disappointing visit to Queens's Head Saturday 1st March. I had previously visited the bar and discussed my daughter's Hen Party for 1st March on two occasions. Initially to discuss numbers and seating arrangements, a second visit was to confirm a party for 12 and it was agreed a table would be reserved in the raised area of the bar for 8pm. I left my mobile number in case contact was needed. We arrived on time, I went up to the bar to advise we had arrived and to say unfortunately two 'Hens' were unable to attend. I enquired if we order at the bar and advised to do so. Imagine my surprise and disappointment to discover there was no table reserved. We managed to drag a couple of tables together then chose our food. Returning to the bar I was asked to move to another till to order, no problem to my disappointment I was told by another staff member the kitchen was closed!!! This booking was made a few weeks ago & confirmed last week. I discussed with the new owner our disappointment I had 10 'Hens' that needed feeding!! The new owner advised me they were just back from holiday, and didn't recognise who the member of staff was that took the booking, acknowledging it was in the diary. We were then told they would re-open the kitchen, we decided however The Queens Head did not deserve our custom or our money & I understand this is not the first time the kitchen had been closed early leaving disappointed guests. We left the pub, walked 50yds to the Chinese Restaurant who welcomed us, had a great evening with good food and atmosphere. Point to note all the 'Hens' are local potential clients, a disappointing experience, we will not be returning.

We booked a table for 12. went in to the premises to confirm a couple of days before. when we got there, there was no table reserved, which wasn't an issue as there were plenty available. We went up to the bar to order food to be told by the owner the kitchen was closed!! They had seen the booking in the diary, but because they didn't recognise the handwriting they dissmissed it!! Very bizzarre!!

Just need to leave a review for the team and the amazing service since the Queens Head has been reopened. The pub has a great atmosphere and something for everyone here. It has multiple screens for showing sport but different areas to suit those who do not wish to see tv. The Sunday roast is superb and plenty of food and cooked to perfection. I was asked if everything is ok giving a personal touch to the experience. The Sunday roast is £12.95 with a pint, exceptional value on a Sunday. I’ve also eaten other times and food is always fantastic. The pub is clean and tidy and the staff are all lovely. The bar is very reasonably priced and I have not had a bad drink here yet. This is a must goto for Minehead visitors or locals, give it a go you won’t be disappointed. Massive thank you to Simon and the team for supplying us a fantastic dog friendly pub in Minehead.

Booked for 12.00 on arrival was not told where to go, on queuing for the carvery the food looked ok, sadly we left without eating it, the roast potatoes were warm up with black pepper all over them horrible taste, veg frozen chef used same knife to cut the pork as well as the beef he was not happy when I asked him to use new knife, already paid prior to getting food staffs attitude not nice at all, on leaving the waitress flew to our table slamming and banging our plates on top of each other don’t know why, they got their money it cost me £80 for 6 of us which is a lot if it’s not nice to the extent having to leave it, a lesson learnt

When we arrived there a big queue for the carvery, but we took this as a good thing. 3 meats on offer, plus plenty of veg, gravy and added condiments. Food was 10/10 and we finished with 8 empty plates. Service was fantastic too. I definitely recommend!

This is normally the best sunday lunch in Minehead. But the last time it was not so great. We were met by a lady, clipboard in hand asking if we had booked for the carvery (no time to order a drink beforehand). Anyway we had booked and were allowed to go to the bar where our friends awaited us. To the meal, the meat was cooked well as always, but shock horror no roast potatoes left. Well out came a bowl swimming in oil with deep fried potatoes in, which marred the experience somewhat. But treated this as a one off as I said earlier this offers the best sunday lunch in Minehead.

Fairly easy to get to at the top end of town down the side street by "Costa" if you are new to the area. This is popular with visitors to "Butlins" on a Sunday afternoon as it is a 30 minute walk which takes you through the town. We called in for a carvery meal costing £13.95 which comprised just the main meal from which you could choose roast beef, pork or turkey with all the usual trimmings. Dessert is extra but nobody opted for that as we were all full. The vegetables kept coming from the kitchen as they were being taken from the serving trolley. My impression is that the Sunday carvery lunch is one of their best sellers with pool tables and dart boards to entertain you after the meal.

My belly pork was tough as old boots with floppy crackling, lees fagotts were mediocre served with still frozen peas whilst Rhys's coleslaw just turned his tummy. Obviously change of chefs and managemenr. We voiced our feedback and they took on board. We left not wanting deserts and paid in full....just disappointed I gues it can only get better

Went here for a carvery without booking. Very busy place and people usually have to book as it's popular. Didn't take too long to pay and get carvery. I think there was a choice of four meats (beef, pork, turkey and can't remember the last meat). A small selection of veg and Yorkshire pudding. The gravy was nice and thick. I enjoyed my dinner but my wife's turkey was grissly which was disappointing other than that everything was good. There is an area for playing darts and snooker with music playing which was on the loud side but I would definitely go back again.

We have coming here while at Butlins for food for 10 years. Always found the food delicious. On this occasion we ordered a red Thai curry and a Green Thai Curry which on previous times was absolutely delicious. This time however was not very nice at all. No flavour of Thai , the green curry was a very strange colour and to be honest if we had been blindfolded we would never have know it was a Thai meal. I’m assuming it was a different chef . The pub itself is very nice so it’s a shame the food wasn’t up to scratch this time. I can’t comment on the other items on the menu though.

We visited The Queens Head on a Saturday evening in May as we liked the sound of the Thai menu outside. Inside the place was dingy and almost deserted but we chose a table in a window where there was a bit of light and ordered two Thai green curries. We were very disappointed when they arrived as the curries looked greyish green and were very watery and the rice was compacted into a dry, tough mound. When we tried the curry we discovered that it was extremely hot with no discernible Thai flavours and consisted of almost entirely of potato, carrot and cauliflower which had been cooked so long that they turned to mush as we tried to eat.

Everything I needed for a short stay in the area - my single room was clean and comfortable, and the staff in the pub were welcoming & helpful. Food in the evening was excellent - a very generous sausage & mash. The burgers at another table looked great. Good to see a rural pub that has customers on a week night - a good sign! I didn't take up the option of breakfast delivered to my room, but perhaps I'd recommend it to others as there really is nowhere else nearby to eat! Mobile & WiFi signals both terrible, but I survived the ordeal!

We had a Sunday roast, choice of pork, beef or lamb plus the full menu as well. The beef was excellent and my wife loved the lamb. All served with carrots, parsnip, roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding and vegetables with lashings of lovely gravy. Service was excellent, food served within 5 minutes of sitting down. Really couldn't fault the Star Inn in any way. Nice friendly staff was an absolute bonus. Thank you all. Ian & Sandra
