Fantastic pub & restaurant. Came here as a "tourist" with my partner, parents and dogs. Jason the barman was very welcoming and entertaining and the locals were friendly. Good selection of drinks. Food came out promptly, was very tasty, large but manageable portions and well priced. We ordered a variety of dishes - Homemade Fishcakes from the specials board, Gammon steak from the specials board, and Fish&Chips from standard menu, all were good quality, perfectly cooked and fresh. Nice sized mains and plates not just full of chips! Nice to have good sized steaks/fish & fishcakes.

We hadn’t even made it through the door before we got the warmest of welcomes from Pub Manager, Jason. He found us a table in his bustling little bar and talked us through the specials as well as the regular menu. Scampi and chips, cod and chips and a couple of equally fishy starters went down a treat. It was busy, so book if you can. Well worth a visit.

I'm not one to normally write a review, but on this occasion I thought I'd bring my review to light. My partner and I visited this quaint pub in Watchet after it being recommended by a friend for the quality of their steak. We visited on 24th September 2024 after booking a table for two for 7.30pm. On arrival we were informed that there was a half hour wait for food, which didn't really deter us as we were looking forward to eating there. The bar lady pointed to a tiny table with two chairs which, to be honest would have meant sitting nearly shoulder to shoulder to a gentleman sitting at a neighbouring table. The table was ridiculously small and my friend had previously mentioned his experience with it, saying.... "Don't sit there as it's just too small" ! I pointed this out to the bar lady who then said that another table would be made available shortly... which it was. I ordered whitebait for starters which was very nice and we both ordered steak for mains... One rump and one sirloin. The steaks were served with chips and a tiny (marlalade) pot of coleslaw with a dob of garlic and parsley butter. The problem was that both meals were served on cold plates.... A rare steak doesn't stay hot on a cold plate, long enough to walk from the kitchen (which was directly behind the bar) to the table. Neither of us were impressed by this, but because we were both hungry we started to dive in. A few minutes later the waitress approached and asked if everything was okay, to which I commented on the cold plate.... Off she scuttled and a couple of minutes later returned asking if we'd like our plates warmed up.... Bit late for that as the steaks would have been ruined. My partner's steak was a little dry but mine would have been good had it not been served up luke warm. We decided not to have a dessert and left after our mains. The bill came to a little over £50 and no apology or concession was offered. On our return home, my partner and I had to change our clothes as they reeked of kitchen chips/cooking, this was due to the kitchen door being left open offering direct access to the bar/restaurant throughout the evening. Needless to say, we were both disappointed with our experience and will not be visiting the Ship Inn at Watchet, any time soon.

Awesome little place, some interesting local beer that’s been brew specially for the the bar with an interesting Somerset twist. Clean ale with bitter finishing (kiwi) was the drink and to be honest price was 4.30 for a pint which are pretty awesome . I wouldn’t recommend started this with but mid session or session ale would have be ok. Some special manu of the day but being small town next to a harbour you expect to more local Seafood but nevertheless there is some in there. Over all ever was great but inside where alittle dark and gloomy that may need updating alittle bit but…..said that it is worth a visit for those special refreshing pint or two. Oh also dog friendly/pub restaurant. If you enjoy reading this and help you out in anyway shape of form, please give me a thumbs and give me a fallow. Chanced upon this great pub on a day out on the steam train. Despite being a busy Sunday lunchtime we were able to get a table. We both opted for the pork roast which was a generous portion and very tasty. Good selection of veg and no issue having gravy on the side. The only disappointment was the parsnips were a little burnt and if I was really picky the green veg was overcooked for my liking but still edible and we cleaned our plates!! All the staff we encountered were friendly and nothing was too much of an effort. The landlord, Jason, is " right on the money" and clearly has a good grip on his business and he certainly makes everyone, whether local or visitor, feel welcome. As we saw, this pub gets really busy so advisable to book if you are planning on eating there. Overall a good experience and reasonably priced too.

From walking into the pub, we had a lovely welcome from the gentleman behind the bar. He gave us options for seating and we sat in the snug. Wide selection of food on the menu and also on the specials boards, price range was reasonable. After reading fab google reviews, I was really looking forward to our meal. We had just arrived on a break nearby, Two adults and three grandchildren, After 45 minutes and with the table behind us already served food we asked where our meals were. (they came in after us). After a few minutes the meals were hurriedly brought out. Pure white undercooked chips. The starters should have been cheddar ciabatta and garlic ciabatta. Both came out and had clearly only seen an oven for less than a minute. The cheese was not melted at all and both were baguettes , not ciabatta. They forgot the onion rings and rushed them out. The steak was cooked as ordered but cheap and fatty .my cod was very small with soft flabby batter. Both burgers were cooked properly however, With one drinks and these meals it was £96 odd. When asked how the meal was, I said that this will be the first t8me in my life that I have not left a tip, listing all that was wrong about it. The tiny slip of a barmaid was lovely and apologetic but that was a lot of money for fast food cooked by someone who did not have a clue. The worst meal I have ever had.

Good food, great atmosphere. Was welcomed like we were in there every week. They had some sort of competition going on with a visiting team from elsewhere, but food and service were still fabulous. The Calamari was exceptionally good, not your usual rubbery rings, but all sorts of shapes and sizes cooked very well. The landlord and waitress were both friendly and helpful. Will definitely be going back. After dinner, literally cross the road to the car park and a short walk along the harbour wall to allow your dinner to go down.

When we arrive we had a lovely warm welcome. Nice choice of food to suit all. We had a wait of about 40 minutes for food but was made aware of this from the start. We had all our starters and mains come out all together. Starters were slightly over done. But didn't feel that this was something to complain about as other parts of the meal was beautiful steaks were cooked beautiful, pepper corn sauce was lovely and portions were great. We're checked on regularly over all a lovely meal out. Great choice on draft drinks. For 3 starters 1 side 2 sauces, 6 mains and 7 drinks for £140 would defo say it was good value. When we initially saw it was 'Nutloaf' as the vegetarian Sunday lunch option our hearts sank. However, what a lovely Sunday lunch. Excellent meal, so tasty, lovely roasties and a selection of mixed vegetables. Some of our party actually managed a dessert of Sticky Toffee Pudding and one of Chocolate Sponge Pudding both of which came with custard. Sufficient to say stomachs were well lined and everyone well fed. Mango Cider was also quaffed and comes highly recommended. If we were in Watchet for another week we would revisit this establishment. ADVISABLE -book an early sitting to get your choice of meat options as they had all gone by the second sitting. Booked several weeks ago for 7 people to celebrate a birthday. When we arrived at 7.00pm we were told by a unwelcoming bar member we are busy so hope you've booked. We sat down at our table and ordered starters and main. Starters arrived fairly quickly but waited over an hour for mains. When we went to bar to ask how much longer as we've been waiting an hour we were told "it's not been that long and I am not going to argue" 4 other people came in after us and they had their meal well before us. The waitress was miserable and almost threw the food down when it did eventually arrive. Food was ok although several things couldn't have as only one fryer working. I spent a lot of money but certainly not satisfied with pub.

It's a typical Lockal for locals where you end your work. You can quickly get into conversation. The service staff was very friendly and tried

We booked for the Carvery by Candlelight tonight to celebrate a friend's 80th birthday. I booked immediately I saw it advertised and was assured we could sit in the Conservatory. On arrival I was told they had moved us into the bar area and that they had tried to ring me several times but I had not answered the phone. No surprise there as they had written down the wrong phone number! Meats were very good but some of the veg were too al dente and cold. The only hot veg was the cauliflower cheese. When dessert arrived we asked for a fork as well as a spoon, only to be told they didn't have any forks available ??? We ordered coffee - 3 x Latte and one Americano. The lad came and said they had no Lattes so we all ended up with Americanos. Pub full of people and no Latte available, who does the ordering in this place, it's not as if it's an unusual request, all pubs, cafes and restaurants have Latte, but not the Babbling Brook. Been going to the BB for 8 years but suffice to say we won't be coming again, the Bistro up the road is where we will be spending our money in the future.
