This is not a review of the ice cream parlour which was closed (probably due to Covid-19). The same people run a trio of cottages to let, Oak, Ash and Sycamore. I stayed in Oak with my family bubble and we had a lovely time. Great facilities and close to some fantastic Exmoor walks, so lovely to go somewhere different after lockdown that was safe. Very clean and well looked after, nice wood-burner for those chilly April evenings. Beds were comfortable and the kitchen well stocked with fridge, freezer, dishwasher, cooker, etc. all you could wish for.

Last week at the end of our holiday in Devon, we took a long detour across Exmoor in order to sample the ice creams at Liscombe only to find that it was closed when we got there. It was listed in our guidebook published in Spring 2019 so we thought that all would be well. However, whilst the banner is still over the gateway to the cowshed area, the cafe and ice cream parlour were definitely closed and not currently in use. I do t know when the ice cream parlour was last open but it must have been some time ago. What a shame!

We popped in after walking our dogs on the moor. We were greeted with a large smile and a huge choice of wonderful looking Geleto Ice cream. We sat and enjoyed watching the robot milking the cows. Not something we see every day!! The Geleto ice cream was fantastic. A must if you are in Exmoor.

Called in here for ice cream after a walk around Tarr Steps. The ice cream was fine but nothing out of the ordinary. It was £3.50 for 2 small scoops plus an extra pound for a tiny chocolate flake!! Unbelievable. Won't be returning.

I visited here last week with my family, we had been told by friends that the ice cream was very good so we thought we’d visit after a long walk at Tarr stops in the sun! We all ordered an ice cream and took them outside. Upon sitting down we were disappointed to see that the ice creams were very small sizes (about half a normal scoop) My auntie went back in to ask for a bit more, where the woman who served us grumpily agreed to give her a little more. Sadly she only gave about a teaspoon more and sent my auntie away again. After we had all finished our ice creams we went in to all complain about the tiny sizes we had been given, the woman seemed to not care and simply dismissed us without so much of an apology, let alone any money back. Her bad attitude and tiny portions really put a bad atmosphere on the place, and and a sad end of our family day. We won’t be returning.

Stopped here whilst visiting Taw Steps. Can't say I found the experience particularly enthralling. The young man serving clearly didn't have job satisfaction and was rather miserable. He served up a vanilla ice-cream that frankly didn't have much ice-cream in it, and when I queried it looked like I was rather mad... The ice-cream we had in Croyde the next day bore no comparison and was amazing,.. Frankly, I'd pass and go somewhere else.

We visited last week with children and grandchildren, having carefully checked the opening hours on their website. There was a display sign by the entrance so we drove in, unpacked the kids and discovered then that it was closed.. On leaving we noticed a closed sign propped against a wall facing the opposite way. We were disappointed but carried on to the nearby Tarr Stepps Farm Inn where we were served 6 very good cream teas and ice creams with excellent service. My wife messaged them about our experience and received a terse unapologetic reply to the effect that it was our own fault and they were only open in the holidays. When she pointed out that that was not what their website said there was some shock and an admission but no apology and ,anyway, they had had a terrible week. I`m sorry to hear that, having run a business for decades I sympathise, but you must never treat potential customers like that. It`s like they just don`t care. Take it or leave it!

We visited Tarr Steps and on leaving we saw a sign to the Robotic Ice Cream Parlour. A great variety of home made ice cream whilst you watch the cows being robotically milked. An excellent way to end the day.

After finding this place on Trip Advisor, and being a fiend for ice cream I just had to go and visit this place. Whilst reading some of the reviews we found that there was a good walk to do near by so we decided to visit the ice cream place after our walk at Tarr Steps. We returned to the farm at 12 noon to find that the sign in the road said Closed. The opening times were propped up against the entrance way and stated that it was open from 10am. Being a bit confused I decided to walk up to the shop to see if it was open. I was very disappointed to find that it wasn't. This was on Tues 12th Sept. Later that week (Thursday) we decided to revisit Tarr Steps as we really enjoyed the walk. As we drove past the farm around 12 noon, the outside sign said Closed again so we assumed it must now be closed for the season, so after our walk this time, we had afternoon tea at Tarr Steps. As we were driving back past the farm, around 2pm, we noticed the outside sign now said it was Open. Despite already eating and being quite full, I persuaded my husband to pull in so I could go and check. To my joy, it was OPEN. When entering the shop, a young girl was sat in front of the viewing window, painting the wall which I thought was a bit odd. I ordered 2 flavours in a cone (salted caramel and toffee). The ice cream was very good, and I'm really glad I was able to try it. Please make it clearer as to what your opening times are and stick to them, and please also update your website with this information as it currently isn't very clear with opening times either. If only you had been open upon my first visit, not only would I have got to eat and try more of your flavours, I would have given you a 5 star rating.

We stopped on the way back from our walk to Tarr Steps, great to see the robotic milking machine and the lovely Swiss Brown cows. Eating the delicious ice cream in front of the viewing window and learning about the farm was quite a unique experience. Such a lovely range of flavours, generous portions and all a good price too. Tea, coffee and soft drinks plus toilets available too.

We planned a visit to the dairy after a walk around Tarr Steps, having seen it on the TV! We were not disappointed, all four of our ice creams were utterly delicious and I really could have sat for hours watching the pretty and happy cows coming in for milking! Our boys LOVED this and have told all their friends! Do visit and support this lovely local business if you can - you'll be glad you did! :)

So many flavours to choose from that it's just not fair lol!! The ice cream is really yummy and creamy, and whatever flavours you choose it is sooo tasty and exactly right. You can have cones of various sizes or tubs, and sit in or out in the tranquil surroundings here. It is very dog friendly and amazing to watch the cows go into the robotic milker all on their own with no human intervention. This is our second visit here and we just have to go back and try more of the absolutely yummy scrummy flavours until we burst. Not the cheapest but certainly the best!!!

We stopped here on our way back to Tarr Steps after a long hot walk, they are producing Gelato ( Ice Cream type ) from their own cows, these are milked using an automatic milking machine that the cows walk into as & when they need, this is inside the shop seen through a large glass wall - fascinating to watch, ideal for children to see & the Gelato was delicious.

We visited the Tarr Steps on Exmoor and were intrigued by a sign directing us to a robotic ice cream making outlet. What a fascinating place. We watched from behind a huge window as their herd of 68 Swiss Brown cows were automatically milked by a single machine. We were told all about the process, the welfare of the herd and the making of the ice cream. And what ice cream! Delicious taste, wonderful selection and extremely friendly staff. Quite possibly the best ice we have ever tasted!

Called in to this ice cream parlour after seeing it on tv, great selection of ice creams with some unusual flavours. We wanted to take some tube away with us for our freezer but there was a very limited selection for this so good if you just want a cornet.

We visited Liscombe Farm on a recent trip to Devon. This visit was the highlight of our trip. Zoe was a very attentive host and as we were obviously very interested in the robotic milking process, she spent considerable time with us. She is a great educator, very patient and enthusiastic. The location of Liscombe farm is unbeatable, the scenery gorgeous. Last but not least...the ice cream is absolutely fabulous, "to die for". Thank-you ZOe!!

We all need to patronise local initiatives such as this and after an 8 mile hike an ice cream was just what we needed. I had a rhubarb flavour, which was OK and my wife had a grapefruit sorbet which was not. In the sorbet were bits which of which could have been gelatin but which made it distinctly unpleasant. So she took it back to the counter to complain. The girl just said "oh dear", didn't apologise, didn't try to ascertain what the matter was and didn't offer either a replacement (which my wife would have accepted) or a refund. In the end my wife asked for her money back which was proffered in a rather perfunctory manner. It all left a rather nasty taste in the mouth - literally.

If you visit Exmoor then make a detour to visit Liscombe Farm - really friendly, watch cows being milked by a state of the art robot milking machine and really delicious ice cream. We were a large family group of 19 who turned up on a wet Sunday afternoon, and got a friendly welcome and great service. We tried a number of different flavours between us - all delicious, all finished. Definitely want to visit again and try another flavour next time.

Visited Liscombe farm several times and each time it has been such a pleasure! We only live locally, but take every visitor we have up there as it's such a treat, stunning views on the drive up and the ice cream is out of this world with such choice and variety of flavours! My favourites are salted caramel and raspberry sorbet and we even bought a few tubs of it for our freezer to keep us going!

Well worth a visit. Forget the ice-cream at the bottom of the hill near the Tarr Steps - this is far supreme! You can also watch the cows being milked at the same time. Very friendly and welcoming. If I had kids this would be one place to take them. But you don't need kids to go here!

The only difficulty when visiting Liscombe is choosing which of the delicious flavours you are going to try. The honeycomb ice cream is not to be missed but the selection varies as Zoe comes up with different recipes. This time I tried popping candy, cookies n cream and chocolate, which I have to admit was a slightly unusual combination. I think between the four of us we tried pretty much every flavour that was on offer! You can have one, two or three scoops in either a dish or a cone which gives plenty of scope to try all the flavours!

A very good dog friendly pub with rooms. Rooms clean, food brilliant, friendly staff and dogs allowed everywhere. Only thing that could be improved is the guest entrance to the hotel, very tired and need of updating. Otherwise a brilliant stay!

Great welcome from the hosts, who gave great advice on things to do and see in the area. We had a lovely 1 night stay at the Notley Arms. Lovely clean and comfy room. Great evening meal and breakfast in the pub which had a great atmosphere. We would stay here again.
