Only went in for a icecream, asked for no flake and was given a flake (can’t complain) was a big size icecream however Whippy wasn’t that sweet, though was good all around.

It's a fantastic Pub with superb food and an outstanding chef, well worth a visit!

We had an really lovely time at the stags head. From the moment we walked in everyone was so friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere was relaxed and we felt at home. Especially how they treated the children, we felt welcomed and relaxed. The food from the take away menu was delicious, we will definitely be back.

I have now reached the 56 year mark and after the time I have had since April I value every day far more than I did and take each day as it comes and expect to be taken as I am by others. In all my visits to Exmoor with my parents when I was growing up and when I returned back down with my lovely wife and various dogs over the years we have never been in the White Horse. As we were staying at Court Farm in Snowdrop we took the chance on a filthy night to venture in to the bar at the White Horse. I really liked the set up=looked like church or chapel pews and plenty of country pictures and items on the walls-how it should be. The gentleman serving says Mark on the receipt was a lovely gent pleasant and hosting without any airs or graces-helpful and considerate. Meal wise we had One Trout in Almonds served with new potatoes and seasonal veg well cooked and well presented and One Flat Iron Steak cooked medium which again was very well cooked and well presented. Managed one sticky toffee pudding and one raspberry brulee washed down with Guiness and Exmoor ale, the waiting staff were pleasant and effecient and the chef has an odd sense of humour but having come from that background I enjoyed that. Excellent meal in wonderful surroundings

Three of us came in for coffee on day trip from Gloucester and we all throughly enjoyed the coffee we had and also thought it was excellent value

As three couples we arrived for a little get together -some of the group were regularly at Woods. It is a place that really has an authentic atmosphere for a Devon pub but with very good consistently delivered food and with a great wine cellar. We asked for a few changes on the dishes which were all fine and I had a great Duck dish accompanied by Asian style vegetables. Others had a. Dry enjoyable lamb dish but to me (and generally not a pudding person) a superb custard tart with young forced rhubarb and it has a tiny tinge of ginger - delightful. Friendly and relaxed it is not a place for pomp and fussing but it does deliver a consistent and honest high quality pub food.

Further to the recent bad reviews, including mine, this 'cafe' is now up for sale for £750,000. No surprise - the writing was on the wall for a long time. Surely a good opportunity for someone - the location is ideal.

Apparently use to be a good place. But appears to have gone down hill. Although we ate in staff don’t deliver food to the table and also your expected to clean table yourself The ice cream sundae was about as different as it could possibly be in the pictures couple of scoops in a plastic drinks glass with cheap whip cream. Better off just buying an ice cream

Poor service, 12 minutes to be asked what we wanted, that was after me asking. Then a further 12 minutes for drinks to arrive without the tea cakes we ordered. Finished drinks still no sign of the food, no explanation or apology. My coffee cup was half full when the table beside ordered the same and got a full cup with a biscuit. This was about the worse café experience I have ever had.

We really enjoyed our meal here. We were greeted in a very friendly manner & engaged in conversation. The room where we had our lunch was full of books & old photos of The Castle - which we loved. The food was reasonably priced & not too bad.

Awful food, awful service and awful standards. Popped in for some lunch bar staff where snappy when we ordered, returned to our table and waited for the food to come. Undercooked Jacket potato was soaked in flora spread when we asked for butter and £1.29 for extra cheese gets you a tea spoon full. Steak and ale pie which had chewy pastry and tasted awful. The salt and pepper squid had the same consistency as a bouncy ball we found on the floor. Food was bought to table and we was left to find our own cutlery, when we found some we thought it was dirty but staff confirmed it was clean. Far from it! When the issues was bought up with the manager he seemed to be inconvenienced by what we bought to his attention and we was offered complimentary drinks for our inedible food! We did get offered 2 free ice creams but as some of our party was still eating we ordered 1, when he bought this to the table his attitude continued and the ice cream was slammed on the table. No offer was made to clear plates. The ice cream was just as bad as the food very artificial flavoured sauce and it came with a spoon with the remains of someone else desert. Tables where left uncleared, plates of food attracting flies and not what we expected as the menu looked to be good and reasonably priced.
