Poor service, 12 minutes to be asked what we wanted, that was after me asking. Then a further 12 minutes for drinks to arrive without the tea cakes we ordered. Finished drinks still no sign of the food, no explanation or apology. My coffee cup was half full when the table beside ordered the same and got a full cup with a biscuit. This was about the worse café experience I have ever had.

Stopped here for a quick cuppa, crumpet and scone. It took 10 minutes to be served, 10 minutes for tea and coffee to arrive which we had finished before any food arrived. After 30 minutes I cancelled the food. I presume it was the owner in the kitchen who was extremely unprofessional when being told by waitress to cancel the order. He shouted ‘really’ pretty loud for the whole place to hear. Shame he didn’t have the manners to come and apologise to his paying customers for the poor service. We were not the only ones that were waiting a very long time even for drinks.

Only stopped for a coffee, a really good roast, lots of taste delicious and mellow rather than harsh and bitter. Service was good and it was relaxing. Bought some rough cider but it tasted like it could be put on chips. The coffee 5 dots the cider a lucky 2 dots but overall a 4

My family visited the tea rooms late afternoon for tea and cakes but after seeing the menu decided to have a meal. We chose the steak baguette with chips which was cooked just as I had asked and spaghetti carbonara which was the best carbonara I have tasted.my children had the children's meals which were very good. The portion sizes were excellent. As it was late afternoon and the tea room was having its 'late rush' of hungry thirsty customers this did not influence the service which was prompt and courteous. I would highly recommend this tearoom as it has a relaxed friendly family atmosphere with highchair facilities and is dog friendly. The rear herb garden looked very pretty and relaxing. Would definitely recommend a visit.

We were glad to find a cafe where our dog was welcome, a good varied lunch menu and lovely clean loo. We tried really hard to get that 'English tea shop feeling' but came away having enjoyed the food but not the eating experience. The one young waiter would perhaps benefit from a bit more training/experience as he was unable to answer questions about the menu. We saw tables being cleaned but ours could have been cleaner. The food was fresh, tasty and good size portions but the fish cakes had very little fish considering they cost £8 and were served only with salad, no chips or bread. The panini seemed much better value - full of cheese with large mixed salad and crisps. Our young waiter was polite and helpful but needed more managerial support.

Now that Town Mills has ceased doing Lunches and afternoon teas, Lewis's Tea rooms are an excellent alternative. Good quality food, well presented and at a reasonable price.

This week I had the pleasure of sampling their Pizza menu, and was blessed with the best quality pizza's I have had for many years. Their "aromatic duck" pizza was especially heavenly. This was the first time I have ventured into this establishment, and I found the surroundings quite pleasant. The owners were courteous & polite. Whilst waiting I scanned over their dessert menu which looked very enticing. This alone would encourage me to revisit. If I was to have one minor criticism I would probably say the restaurant was alittle cramped. Perhaps 1 or 2 tables less might improve the spacing between tables. Unfortunately they only do the pizza's Thurs-Sat evenings. Still we all need something to look forward to at the end of the week.

When in Dulverton do take the opportunity to visit this friendly tea room, you can take your dog as well. Good food and very welcoming, as is Dulverton

Pleasant decor with interesting pictures and paintings, and quirky giant teacups set the scene for this high street tea shop. The staff were warm and welcoming (despite a behind the scenes disagreement) and in the evening they serve some truly fantastic artisan pizzas, with the meat lovers "Carnivore" a personal favourite, especially when accompanied with a bottle or two of Exmoor Gold. The Hot Chocolate to finish was also exceptional.

We have visited this tea room many times over the past twenty years whilst on holiday in Devon. We can honestly say we have never found anywhere better (and have tried lots). the staff are always polite and courteous. the food is truly excellent and we never leave feeling hungry!! So much so that around 10 years ago my daughter (then 4) exclaimed to all on the premises, quite loudl "I'M STUFFED", a phrase she still makes referance to many years later. Quality food does take a time to arrive but if you want quick and dirty then go to a burger joint. As I've intimated we visit the area at least once a year and always ensure that we go to Lewis's at least 3 times during our holidays. We simply cannot rate this establishment highly enough.

We have tried this cafe several times over the past few years and it never seems to get better. The food is OK and they are often open when other places aren't but the service is terribly slow (and confused) with little room and lots of people wishing to pay or order whilst the staff flap about. There isn't anything here that couldn't be fixed by some staff training and a new service system. They are always pleasant enough but clearly hurried and confused themselves.

Service. poor. consistently poor from staff who at least were as miserable with other customers as they were with us. Food. cakes good. don't bother with the cooked food, you will die of hunger waiting for it and it will be semi-cold when it arrives. Value. competetively priced against other tea rooms but still not worth it, expect the cake Atmosphere. poor. probably due to the miasma of misery that the staff have which infected the customers by the time they left. needs a good clean too

Ci siamo andati a maggio. Ci siamo andati a maggio.

Nice place to stop for a lunch, very good indeed. Food quality is great but if busy service can be a tad slow but worth waiting for.

My wife and I went in to Lewises tea rooms for afternoon tea, we were seated by the entrance to the kitchen, there was one waitress who even though having to cover all the tables, was extremely charming and tried her best to be helpful. We asked her for tea for two and toasted teacakes, we were prepaired for a wait and had no problem with this. The waitress went into the kitchen and sliced some bread presumably to help out and was set upon by a bad tempered man who gave her a ticking off for doing so. There were teacakes being toasted and piled up and at intervals the man kept picking them up and putting them down, all getting cold, the waitress came in and toasted more which were again place on a pile and we eventually got two bottom sections each, one warm and one cold. Add to this the fact that the table was unclean and we had to ask for the cups to be replaced because there was lipstick on one and what looked like tealeaves on the other. The waitress should go elswhere, somewhere that she will be appreciated for the hard working person that she is

Had a Sunday carvery at the end of my daughters hen weekend. The food was great and the service outstanding. The manager couldn't have done more to accommodate us. It really was the best was to finish the weekend. Thank you so much, will definitely be in again when next in the area.

I have now reached the 56 year mark and after the time I have had since April I value every day far more than I did and take each day as it comes and expect to be taken as I am by others. In all my visits to Exmoor with my parents when I was growing up and when I returned back down with my lovely wife and various dogs over the years we have never been in the White Horse. As we were staying at Court Farm in Snowdrop we took the chance on a filthy night to venture in to the bar at the White Horse. I really liked the set up=looked like church or chapel pews and plenty of country pictures and items on the walls-how it should be. The gentleman serving says Mark on the receipt was a lovely gent pleasant and hosting without any airs or graces-helpful and considerate. Meal wise we had One Trout in Almonds served with new potatoes and seasonal veg well cooked and well presented and One Flat Iron Steak cooked medium which again was very well cooked and well presented. Managed one sticky toffee pudding and one raspberry brulee washed down with Guiness and Exmoor ale, the waiting staff were pleasant and effecient and the chef has an odd sense of humour but having come from that background I enjoyed that. Excellent meal in wonderful surroundings
