The best restaurants in North Devon South West

Lovely little pub we found whilst out and about. Just moved to the area and my partner was looking for a pub showing sky sport. Such an accommodating landlord, who apparently is new himself. He reserved us a table for lunch, which was a carvery. Very tasty and fresh and hot . We ll certainly be back when we aren't working . 😁

We really enjoyed having breakfast here. So much we ate here 2 days in a row. The food is “homely” and exactly what we wanted. The service is friendly I definitely would recommend eating here.

Visited Barnstaple with our main aim to go to the Wimpy as I used to love their food. It certainly was a blast from the past, same things on the menu, food served at the table. Yes, it is more expensive than the usual burger chains but it was nicer. I had the spicy bean burger and it was just as I remembered. The staff were all really friendly and looked like they enjoyed working there. Loved it, back next time for a brown derby.

This is a great place for a coffee or something to eat when waiting for a train or shopping in the area. I meet friends here once a month and have never been disappointed. The full vegetarian breakfast is excellent. Don’t go to Costa, come here instead!

My wife booked an escape room as part of my Christmas gift. We have two young children so she thought it would be nice for us to have morning together. We arranged for child care and headed into town. We arrived around 10 minutes early, the whole place was in darkness and locked up. We sent a Facebook message (since they never pick up the phone) to say we have booked an escape room, but we cannot get in. The response...The staff have forgotten to come in. Then the cheek to ask if we wanted to rearrange! Shocking.... no actually this is disgusting customer service.

Absolutely fantastic service from a young guy named Logan. I am an avid subway eater and have frequented many establishments over the years but this one has topped them all. It was a busy lunchtime and a que of 10-15 people stood before me, I watched this young magician whip up subs with robotic accuracy and speed. He cleared the Que in minutes all while having a beaming smile and great customer attitude. When he came to mine a foot long chicken & bacon with all the salads (not a easy task to fit it all in) not only did he make it in record time he actually presented me with the neatest fullest sub Iv ever had! He even put the sauce in the middle so that it didn’t all spill out! Wish I’d taken a photo but alas it was in my mouth before I’d thought of it. What a credit to the store this guy was, if anybody deserves some recognition or a pay rise I hope he gets it. Signed SubKing

From start to finish it's a lovely place easy check in reception staff very friendly. Bar staff (AKA Daz ) quality always a smile and a chat rooms are very spacious clean tidy

Have used many builders on many projects, Anderson Evans are one of the very best, always professional and delivered our project on time having solved many problems along the way, would highly recommend them and would use them again.

I've visited twice since living in whiddon valley and i said I wouldnt go back after how bad it was the first time. I decided to give them a second chance yesterday and I wish I hadnt. Starting with the size of the fish which was so small it made me laugh when opening the box, this wouldnt even be considered a mini at any other fish shop and they charge £6.50 for it! The chips were so dry and overcooked, felt like theyd been in the warmer all day. Really sad to see how far this place has fallen when it used to be such a staple chip shop in barnstaple. Its definetely the worst around now.

Does regular and gluten free fish and chips - both excellent! Been here loads of times both in and off season and it's superb every time.

If you want a really good standard Chinese this is one of the best in Barnstaple without being ripped off. Food is awesome!

The Waterside Cafe House is a hidden gem! The ambiance is charming and relaxing, paired with delicious food and coffee that never disappoints. A perfect spot for a delightful, five-star experience every time you visit.
