Great location and great milkshakes

Go here often, fantastic coffee, lovely setting near Taw estuary, great snacks pizza etc freshly made always tasty. Good service.

Best waffles around! So convenient for dog walkers as its right along the tarka trail. Such friendly staff and very well priced. Will be visiting a lot this summer.

We had a great visit to The Waterside Coffee House - the weather was rainy & grey, but the service & food more than made up for it! Delicious drinks & food - and the staff were so friendly and the service fantastic. Definitely going to be one of our favourite places to return to no matter the weather 😋

I cannot rate Waterside coffee house and bar highly enough. The customer service is always amazing and we are always greeted with a smile. Both of my boys have dietary requirements and they go above beyond to meet them. I honestly think they have one of the best views with a coffee in North devon. This place is not to be missed !

Says gluten free & vegan, it's not, its should state gluten or vegan pizza's available. Don't seem to take feedback well either. Had to change order after they checked with kitchen for allergies but they didn't realise they ran out of dairy free cheese until after we had paid and ordered. Asked for refund and they couldn't work the system so was provided cash instead. My wife had come earlier and the staff charged her too much, and had been guessing prices even though signs stated costs. Shame as previously liked this cafe, don't seem to have knowledge of allergies.

We have 2 dairy free people in our family one of which is gluten free too. Their advertising isn't correct. They can do gluten free or vegan pizza not both. We ordered alternative food (panini) 5 mins later came out and said they'd run out of vegan cheese. We asked for a refund which they did but couldn't put it back on card?? Really disappointing

Nice quiet spot for food with a view

In a small industrial estate but the views are fantastic. Good coffee and cakes. Other food available.

Went for lunch here and got covered in bird poo whilst sat outside eating. Food was unfortunately inedible and my Mum and I had only had a bite each! The waitress offered to replace our meals (not necessary as it’s not the cafes fault, but a really lovely gesture) but then returned to tell us her boss had refused to remake our meals. A real shame as we live locally and would have been frequent visitors.

Small cafe on light industrial estate between Braunton and Barnstaple. Would be very convenient for dog walkers along the Tarka Trail if there were more car parking spaces. Pleasant atmosphere and good service. Very limited food offerings as far as we could see - sourdough pizzas and Belgian waffles about it. Some breakfast options but otherwise seemed very limited. Nice hot latte and mango smoothy.

Dissapointed to say the least. The location is lovely and the place is nicely presented but the food... We ordered 2 breakfasts and tea. The tea was nice but not sure how you can go wrong with a cup of tea! We were given a mug with a teabag in and a jug of milk... The breakfast was £8 each so not cheap. It came quickly but think that was because the cheap ingredients had been pre cooked. So our cheap sausages, bacon, cheap beans, cheap bread toasted, and overcooked eggs were presented luke warm on a cold white picnic type plate. It was barely edible. I expected more and it definitely was nowhere near like the picture on the Facebook page. We will definitely not be back. Think I can honestly say the worst breakfast I have ever had!

Really poor breakfast....poor quality and only lukewarm. Really disappointing. It came out really quickly, therefore not freshly cooked.

Lovely cafe just off of tarka trail into braunton. Perfect for cycle pit stop, and great for kids and dogs. Lovely view over the river and plenty of sunshine. Staff members all lovely and food and drinks were delicious. One of my favourite cafes! Lovely breakfast menu too with good variety, perfect for brunch.

Absolutely love coming here. It's a perfect pit stop while walking down the tarka. It's cosy and warm. Coffees are delicious and the fresh cakes they provide are a perfect match. 110% recommend.

What a fab find, Lovely cafe and location - scrumptious cake and coffee. It was raining for our 1st visit so we will be coming back when it's dry, to sit outside and take in the views.

we were riding down the tarka trial pass barnstaple and saw a sign for a coffee shop, i was totally impressed with the views, food and staff. we could easily park our bikes up and stayed for lunch. great spot for a bite to eat

Great brunch pancakes. Husband had bacon and maple syrup. I had strawberries, blueberries, and cream. Both tasted delicious. Would definitely have it again. Sat outside with beautiful views of the river Tay estuary. Its near Chivenor at the end of a business park. Worth a visit.

Amazing cake and friendly service

What's the point of advertising you're open on a Sunday until 4pm and don't keep to your advertised hours? Travelled over half an hour on a recommendation but it was shut.

Just off the Tarka trail. Really nice for a pit stop or from the menu for something more.

I was so looking forward to a tuna cheese panini after having one years ago when it first opened. I was so disappointed cat quality tuna and bland cheap cheddar in a soggy thin panini for £9 with a diet coke and a handful of crisps chucked in the bottom of a brown paper bag. Won't be stopping again. Lovely location nice staff but the food was rank.

Arrived at 3:40. Already closed despite advertised open until 4. Staff were out of the door by 3:45! Disappointed.

what a lush place to have lunch and walk the dog on the tarka trail, I feel like I'm on my hols. The Italian Pizza is huge....... not sure I can eat it all but it was amazing, the lady gave me a take away box so that's dinner sorted too. Got doggy ice cream too

I would recommend avoiding the pizzas here. Was really disappointed by the quality of the food here given the high price ( £14 for a pizza and £7 for cake and cold drink). I understand that this is a nice location to eat at but the reality is that the majority of the seating does not have the view that is being paid for through the pricing of the food. Please could your pricing reflect the quality of the food, rather than the location. In all honesty I have eaten better supermarket pizzas, quality of the produce was poor and base tasted and looked like a frozen pizza rather than homemade. My pizza also didn’t seem fully cooked and not as hot as expecting.

Unimpressed with staff and the menu.

What a lovely place, overlooking the estuary. Easy to park. Staff lovely and welcoming. Didn't eat just a Latte, but food looked delicious. Can sit outside on picnic benches taking in the stunning view over the estuary. Very much recommended.

Well.....what can I say. Terrible food avoid if you don't want to be disappointed. Stopped off for lunch on the way home from a leisurely bike ride, looking forward to a nice tuna and cheese panni, only to be served up with a squat, oilily bit of bread roll, With crushed left over of chrisps for garnish.

Well worth a visit if you're on the cycle path between Barnstaple and Braunton. This was our second visit, have only had a coffee and cake on both occasions but the cakes were delicious and the coffees were tasty. Lovely views over the estuary on a sunny day.

Sadly this place used to be amazing (under different management) as it’s in a great spot on the Tarka Trail. However the shine has definitely come off; from the weird decor, no atmosphere (Heart Radio in the background like a roadside cafe) terrible coffee and, what I think is definitely not on site cooked pizza but warmed up frozen ones instead. (This is under debate as I’m sure the woman serving lied to me about where they are made) If you want great food and outstanding coffee, in my opinion, I’d ride or drive further along the Tarka to Braunton and the Quay Cafe. Only two stars because of the great view up the Taw Estuary

Just spent £14 on 2 x tuna jacket potato’s and all i can say it was appalling.my girlfriend was first to notice the minuscule amount of tuna on each,and I’m talking a heaped teaspoon on both.you totally robbed us.and a warm hard potato.we will never return

Several people told us we should go to Waterside for coffee and cake. They were do right. The food menu looked good too. Lovely staff. Well worth a visit if you are in the area. Easily accessible from the Tarka Trail.

Food was very bland and overpriced, had cheesy garlic bread but most of it had the cheese missing, don't waste your money, won't be going again

Great location on a cycle trail. Looked like a perfect lunch spot by the water with great menu for lunch, sandwiches, specials, home made pizza, smoothies. Disappointing food which wasn’t cheap. So easily could have been better. Sandwich basic with little filling and no salad garnish and a ton of butter in it, salad and pizza covered in over powering dry herbs which ruined the food, waitress couldn’t tell me what the house wine was. As my 13 year old son said “it has so much potential”. Wouldn’t take much to make this place great but sadly didn’t live up to what it said on the tin! We didn’t stay for the waffles we’d planned to have! Wouldn’t come again.

Only stopped here for a quick drink with my son after our bike ride, staff were friendly and my son really enjoyed his milkshake.

nice place for coffee but food is very expensive Small cold bap with 1 slice bacon 1 small sausage and over cook fried egg !very cheep( low qualiylty) soses I will expected more for 6 £ list a bit better quality of food .

The Waterside Cafe was the perfect stop on the beautiful Tarka Trail. The delicious food was excellent and the staff were so welcoming on a hot, busy day. It’s the perfect place to relax and we will be returning again (and again!). Just beautiful and a real hidden gem to discover.

Walking on our local trail with my dog and daughter in her motor scooter , on a lovely sunny day, from Braunton , we call in and order some lunch . Unfortunately my daughter became very ill and the motor scooter was out of battery . I was in a panic as my daughter became more and more distressed and a risky situation unfolded. The lady owner, ( sorry I don't know your name ) , stepped in to help even though she was busy.. A family member took us home and then brought the scooter back for us. I WOULD LIKE TO SAY A BIG THANK YOU FOR COMING TO OUR AID WHEN NO ONE ELSE COULD BE BOTHERED TO DOWN TOOLS TO HELP SOMEONE IN STRESS. And thank you for wrapping up our paninis to take home. They were fully loaded and tasty even after standing. . And as for value , putting aside you are very kind people, Two lunches with drinks and a doggy ice cream for a score is good considering the economic crisis being created in the political arena

Only really serves pizza which was slightly overpriced for the quality and size. Drinks were expensive Nice location off the trail and close to bike hire Venue was clean and tidy, but felt like an awkward atmosphere with multiple staff at the counter staring into space as you eat. (Visited at lunchtime on a Saturday)

We stopped here for lunch whilst cycling the Tarka trail. It’s a lovely spot with great views. The food was average but on the expensive side.

Fantastic little coffee shop! I’d give it more stars if I could as everything was just perfect! Plenty of space indoors and out, fantastic coffee, and the food caters for all dietary requirements! The staff are so friendly and I will definitely be back!

Narrow road to get to this very quaint place. Paring and toilets. The food was very nice and we found the staff to be very patient even though they were very busy. Reasonable prices will certainly be going back

We stopped here whilst walking the Tarka Trail for afternoon drinks. We sat outside and enjoyed the marvellous views last the houseboat and along the estuary. A beautiful spot.

Made a special trip to here on a Tuesday as we had been previously and enjoyed it. Unfortunately today was not the case. Only breakfast offering was marketed as a breakfast baguette with a choice of sausage bacon and/or egg. When they came it was...

Outrageously good garlic bread, and the pizza isn't too shabby either! Great customer service with lovely staff. Highly recommended!
