We called in at Tarko Lounge for a hot drink, in the late morning. It’s a busy and stylish town centre venue, with a very pleasant style to it. All we had was tea and coffee, the drinks were brought to our table. While we were there, there was a constant stream of people coming and going. The menus looked good and had we stayed in town longer we would have eaten there. Worth a visit.

Quiz night meant it was really busy, and a bit noisy for us. Service was good 👍

Just nice to sit down and have a decent bite to eat, and in the middle of the afternoon 😎

Love The Lounges, this being the fourth one I've visited in Somerset. Tarko did not disappoint - the food and service were excellent as always. We found a table without a problem and revelled in our surroundings and the atmosphere within.

Expensive for the portion size you get and poor customer service when they get the order wrong. Nice and clean though

I recently had the pleasure of enjoying a burger at Tarko Lounge, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The burger was perfectly cooked—juicy, flavorful, and made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. What truly stood out was the attention to detail: the bun was soft yet sturdy enough to hold the burger together, and the condiments were just the right amount to add flavor without making the burger messy. I also loved the variety of options—whether you're a fan of classic cheeseburgers or want something more adventurous, they have something for everyone. The service was quick and friendly, making the whole dining experience even better. It’s clear they care about the customer’s experience, from the first bite to the last. Overall, it was one of the best burgers I’ve had in a long time, and I highly recommend stopping by if you’re craving something delicious!

Nice tapas meal with family. A bit hot upstairs and hubby had to go in search of cutlery that wasn't given to us. Otherwise it was a good evening

I’ve been here a few times within the last couple years and have never had any issues. Staff have always been pleasant and reasonable, good set up, nice decor, good food at a reasonable price and decent service. It also Seems like it’s become a very popular place with the amount of people I’ve seen visiting Tarko over the years. Would recommend. One of my favourite places to eat when I’m out and about in town. I Will be coming here with my mum soon (hopefully within the next few days - week).

Drinks where okay, got more fome then shack in the strawberry milkshake, Food was nether good nor bad. brunch was good, poched egg over cooked. Bacon cheese burger way over priced for what you get and on the dry side. Place felt quite hectic at times and flys everywhere, getting on your food and on you. Shame

I have eaten in this restraint for over 2 years most Saturdays and Sundays Staff are amazing really nice and welcoming food normally very good had a couple of mishaps over the years I have been visiting but normally when it's busy normally food is very good But please you need to sort the flys out never had food anywhere where flys constantly attack you all over your food if its not sorted the next time I bring my family out I will be taken them somewhere else I'm sorry but this has gone on for months I have tried upstairs downstairs and it's the same why so may flies

Good food. The Harissa Chicken was excellent. The whole family enjoyed Targo. Good music and the right level, so you can talk. Polite and helpful staff.

Another great addition to the lounges portfolio. All level access for wheelchair users with ample space instead to move around. There is also a Changing Places facility nearby within the Green Lanes shopping centre. All of the staff were friendly and the food itself is great, plenty of choice for all tastebuds and you know exactly what to expect.

First time here, food wonderful, the salad had seeds which gave a pop of flavour, the Kiev burger was not too garlicky, great to be able to have a breakfast choice even at 5 at night, (lounge eggs)

Came for a late breakfast the other day.. I had Shakshuka and my wife had the Lounge eggs with bacon... the Shakshuka was excellent, a lot of flavor with a little spice. I added the chorizo which was ok but like the English, they overcook meat.... I'd order it again but without the chorizo. The Lounge eggs were good as well. They also have great coffee.... strong and black...

Absolutely beautiful food. We were served by Hannah, who was warm and friendly. Impeccable food and service.

We called for lunch on a day visit to Barnstaple & everything was fine. We were greeted, very pleasantly, by a member of staff & chose a table. We were given a menu & ordered at the bar. The place was very busy and the food took around 15-20 minutes to arrive, which was fine. Our drinks arrived within 5 minutes, brought by one of the staff who apologised & said there may be a short wait for the food. We noticed that almost all the staff were young people, obviously well trained, who went about their work with a smile. It was nice to see. We ordered tapas which was delicious & very reasonably priced.

We loved the relaxing and friendly atmosphere. The service was polite and organised and prompt. The food and drink was delicious!

This was a lovely relaxing place to have a wonderful latte that was just so smooth and mellow I could have had several more. I would highly recommend this place.

We came here for breakfast and it’s so lovely, the decor and the pictures give it an added touch! We had the Smoked Salmon with Poached Eggs and Hollandaise and their OREO Milkshake is a must too!

Always have their breakfast when in town.. just a little something different.

The only thing I don't like is ordering your food your self 😞 your not greeted by anyone no interaction with people or staff anymore 😔

Really rubbish and disappointing. £10 for one measly slice of toast with avocado on it. An absolute rip off. Coffee was burnt. Definitely won’t be returning

I had the lemon cake, which was lovely. My husband had the carrot cake, which was a bit too sweet for him. The staff were friendly and we had a toddler with us and they were good with him too. Service was quick even though it was popular as people were queuing to get in, when it opened at 10am.

Been to many of this chains restaurants and always been pleased.Don't know why when we ate here it was not a good experience.The tables had not been cleared or cleaned and it looked very untidy.The food was disappointing my wife's meal was overcooked and reheated.The outside if the fish finger was inedible.Hopefully this was a one off.

Delicious food and service with a smile, even when I forgot to mention a dietary requirement. The waiter insisted on returning my food to the kitchen and the chef very happily prepared something new. I really appreciated that as they didn't have to rectify my mistake.

All right! Pleasant experience for lunch at noon and after a city walk again for a coffee and cake in the afternoon.

We lunched there, chose 3 on the tapas ..... tAsty 😛😍 quesadilla, patatas brAvas, spicy guacamole ^ chicken curry, good coffee, chicken avocado burger 🍔 🥑 😋 delicious 😋 tAsted so good, full of flavour, even saved half to take home....was provided with a box 📦 that was just right! Good, attentive service with Jamie and Megan , would definitely return soon to choose another of the tempting dishes on the menu of which has a great variety 😀 🫶 Priced well, lunch was good and around £42

I went here on a Saturday, the jalapeño smash burger, the meat was flavourful and the burger was so juicy. It wasn’t crowded and there was a lot of seating. The downsides were the portion size for the Caribbean curry and the chocolate sauce with the churros. My mother’s Caribbean chicken curry was relatively small for its price but she did say it tasted nice. For the churros, the chocolate sauce had little to no flavour, It tasted bitter and sour. Although, I must say that the caramel sauce was amazing. I would definitely eat here again.

11th May and it's a particularly warm day. Overheard the Manager tell a member of staff that it was too busy for them to get a drink. Pretty sure that's illegal. If that's how he treats his staff I'm surprised he has any.

This is such an amazing place. I posted on Facebook asking about nice date ideas because my boyfriend was having mental health issues, they replied offering us a meal and a drink for free- I couldn't believe it. Turned up and it was true, the servers and the managers were SO nice, I took a while to eat and the server came over to take my boyfriends plate away, she told me not to rush and to take my time. I was going to pay for an extra sparkling water and the manager said I could have it for free, it took a while to get there but not a massive amount of time yet the server was severely apologetic. I will definitely be going there again.

Called in early evening mid week for a bite and a drink before heading to Queens Theatre. Quiet when we arrived but an hour or so later very few tables empty. Weekends could be very busy. Decor and lay out are great. Mostly table seating but some softer lounge seats and low tables as well. Various lighting, pictures and colours make it feel warm and comfortable. The staff were friendly and welcoming and helpful on menu choice. Some lovely sounding dishes and a menu for most tastes, I think you would struggle not to find something palatable. Very tasty salad and flatbread, shame the chips are frozen not real. Good choice of cakes and sweets, which were a delight. Not cheap at £55 for a bite, drink and sweet for 2 but a very pleasant way to start the evening. We would visit again but next time try one of the many mains. Thank you all, loved it.

Visited here on a Saturday night for dinner. The atmosphere and decor is really nice and the place has a cool, funky vibe to it. We were told to order from the QR code which meant there was no table service. This was okay but meant as we all ordered food at different times that the food didn’t arrive together. Throughout our visit we ordered via the QR code which meant there was very little customer service, although the drinks came out quickly. The food was below average. I opted for tapas (the choice was pretty poor), potato’s were bland and very little sauce or seasoning, calamari was okay as was the quesadillas. There was very little staff interaction, for example no one came over to check the food was okay, when one person had an issue we had to find staff to alert them. Food and drink isn’t the cheapest and for the quality I don’t think I would return.

Went into Tarko Lounge today, been to lots of these lounges in various towns as I can always get GF meals and snacks. The staff were lovely, dog welcomed with treats and the food well cooked….however I can only rate 3 stars as the GF sandwich was really small and really bad value for money.£10.50 for a roll containing a small amount of avocado, at most 2 falafel and a bit of coleslaw. Never experienced this at lounges before don’t know if it’s this particular one or the franchise is practicing shrinkflation but I was really disappointed and hungry when I left.

A nice spot to meet friends for a cuppa and people watch. There is a lot to choose from the food menu with a wide variety of dishes and drinks. The staff were friendly and facilities were clean.

20 minutes of waiting, cold food was served. Burgers and salads tasteless. Good milkshake.

Being ' loungers ' in Poole , Bournemouth, and Christchurch, we always look for you, wherever we are . Having eaten in Tarko lounge before and having a good experience, why go somewhere else ! Lounge breakfast friday morning as soon as you opened , sat in the sun upstairs , was spot on, and gave us the best start to our Easter break in North Cornwall . Thank you to the two lovely guys who served us 😌

Popped in for lunch, food was tasty and didn’t take long to come out. Portion sizes weren’t huge though for the main meals especially for the curry that I chose. Felt like there was very little chicken for the price. The milkshakes were great and looked very impressive. A lovely atmosphere and had a great time overall.

When I have the opportunity, I enjoy visiting Tarko Lounge. I love its quirky interior. Comfortable seating, friendly and efficient staff, and nice food and drink. A good venue to meet friends.

Manager has terrible attitude and body odour. If your not liked of your asked to leave. Clearly needs a training course for customer service. Love lounges but not his Tarko Lounge 👎

The Pancakes are DELICIOUS. You think there isn't enough, but there is! Great menu, plenty to chose from for the kids too, and very friendly staff.

Me and my man ate in this afternoon. My partner had the breakfast brunch and I had the bacon cheeseburger with sweet potato fries. Omg, it was DEVINE! We cannot say enough about the quality of the food and amazing service! 😋

Every Lounge we have visited has been good. The staff are friendly and helpful. Our favourites are Tarko Lounge in Barnstaple and Tretho Lounge in St Ives.

The food was good. However the bacon in my burger was a bit gristly and not many chips. The service was slow but manageable. My friend go a splinter from the table we were sitting on so someone in my class had to pick it out with a staple, it was funny to me but not for him

Jamie and the team excelled on Saturday night. The restaurant was extremely busy. This did not impact negatively on our experience. We received a friendly, speedy service. Our food was very enjoyable. We had a great evening.

There was that much oil you could see through the fries. The burger was really average and the drinks arrived after the food. Hopefully it was just an off day as the staff were pleasant.

Amazing food and incredible service. We had some tapas which was delicious, chicken flat bread, nasi goreng and kids meals and everything was well presented, large portions and incredibly tasty! We’d definitely visit again. Special mention to Hannah who could not be more accommodating.

Great place ro meet friends first a catch up

Always a go-to for a breakfast treat! Never had anything other than fantastic service and amazing food! I used to run a B&B which was no.1 on TripAdvisor...so I know a decent full English when I see one!

Walked in to the Tarko Lounge as a party of 8; 4 adults 3 young children and a 14 year old. We asked for a table fully expecting we wouldn't get one as we were such a large party and hadn't booked. However, no one actually came to seat us and we were stood in the entrance kids buggies and all, waiting for sometime for some help. It never came, so I walked off to find someone and when I eventually did, I was told there was seating upstairs. We took all the buggies a 1 and 2 year old and my 6 year old special needs daughter upstairs, where the server then had a quiet chat with a colleague. (I presumed to organise seating for us) He then walked off down the corridor and we never saw him again. It was apparent to me that we were never going to get seated up there, so we left and went to New Amsterdam which was a far better choice! Everytime I've been to Tarko lounge service has been slow.

We like Lounging so when staying in Barnstaple often call in here for coffee, and sometimes food. As with all the Lounges we have visited the staff are a friendly bunch. On our recent visits just after Christmas the place was pretty busy, but we were able to find a table upstairs OK each time. Two visits were just for tea or coffee, but one evening we had a tapas selection which was very good.
