The best restaurants in North Devon South West

Really enjoy visiting South Street Kitchen. It caught my eye years ago as lots of local trades & locals would queue for breakfast. The couple who have traded here for some years offer a consistent, no frills & honest service. Great breakfasts with the option of fried bread.

We booked an overnight stay at the Sandy Cove hotel and evening meal at the Seacliff restaurant within. Bookings were made online, which was simple, and replies were received. We also received a call from the restaurant enquiring if there were any particular dietary requirements. The meal was an eight course tasting menu, which differed very slightly from the online sample menu, but in our opinion, it was better featuring some of our favourite ingredients. Each course was well presented, introduced by a very attentive waitress, and very enjoyable with some amazing flavours and combinations. The chef took time to introduce himself after the meal, and we had the pleasure of complementing him on a well-balanced menu. The wine list is quite extensive to suit most if not all tastes. Many thanks for a very enjoyable meal and overnight stay.

Sat on the roof for drinks lovely views and atmosphere and the artificial grass was bouncy wasn't sure if I was drunk even before drinking 😂

Oh my goodness what treat , Fantastic mussels and seafood platter . Unlike the boathouse which is selling mussels like cockles . See pictures . Great value Loads of food Loads of choice Great service Great chocolate fondue Everything was first class .

The food was hot and Average apart from a couple of the pizzas which were barely warm, but the welcome and service was unfriendly, excruciatingly slow and bordering on rude. Suffice to say we will never come back which is a shame as we live in Barnstaple.

Sadly not a good meal. The soup was so thick and strong had to be watered down to eat. All the sauces so thick and stale. Meat obviously just added and not really cooked in sauce. So disappointed. However the staff were nice friendly and helpful

It was a Friday in November & Thai buffet night, the food was excellent, staff very friendly with some lovely cocktails

Probably the worst pizzas we have ever eaten (although they were so dreadful, we couldn't eat them). Tasteless, undercooked and clearly not cooked in a pizza oven.

The most disgusting fish and chips we have ever had. The piece of fish was so small, I've had bigger fish finger. So little fish in awful hard batter. The only recommendation I have is don't buy food from here.

Always go here when on holiday either for a pasty or lovely and addictive chocolates

Been a number of times as we normally have breakfast or lunch before leaving for home. Today very disappointed. We were the only customers at 10 30, didn't have to wait long but didn't appear fresh. Smashed avocado was clearly brought in and very cold, tomato salsa just chopped up tomato's and toast cold and soggy. Did ask for extra egg which was ok. Husband's sausage bap came already buttered which he didn't want or asked beforehand. Coffe not the normal tasty quality. Unsure if this is why it's not busy or just trying to cut corners , as years gone by have been much better.

We stayed in Braunton for 4 nights and visited the White Lion on our last night. The landlady was very welcoming and got our table organised straight away even though she was trying to eat her own dinner. We ordered the 2 steaks and a bottle of wine deal which was lovely and good value. Our daughter had a seafood medley, which she enjoyed. Our 2 dogs were made welcome and given treats. We loved the juke box and played Uno. It was a very relaxed environment. The pub is old school but comfy with clean loos. Thanks for having us!
