Quay Cafe and Soft Play, in North Devon

Had a great breakfast , staff excellent cafe clean , spacious and great for dogs too . All made to feel very welcome from Josh and the rest of the team

Visited for the first time yesterday, and certainly wasn’t disappointed! Lunch was delicious, and there was plenty of it! Will certainly be returning😁

Dropped in for a coffee today and was warned on ordering that there might be a short wait. Fine , no great rush. When it got to a long wait and I went to chase it up I was told there were a hundred people next door who all wanted their coffees at the same time. Challenging for them but a simple apology would have been all that was required, either then or when it was finally delivered. The coffee was actually very good. I wasnt especially troubled by the wait, but a simple apology? Its called customer service.

Just had a lovely lunch. Excellent food and service. The best cappuccino I've ever had. Will return. Definitely recommend to anyone.

Friendly staff, efficient service, nice surroundings and scrummy food. Ordered pizza, various sandwiches/toasties and chips. Everything vg. Would definitely return.

Lovely atmosphere and great customer service. All the staff were friendly, polite and attentive. Tables were cleared and cleaned promptly and everywhere was clean. Very nice coffee and delicious Crunchie milkshake - just wish I lived closer to go back and sample the other flavours and try the food.

Having ordered the soup of the day, it arrive at my table within two minutes the plate scolding hot. The soup Tepid! Very disappointed. It re appeared 2 mins later, this time scolding, the waitress said the chef send his apologies. If you’re going to serve a freshly made soup of the day, then maybe try keeping it in a pan and a low heat, and not a microwave for 30 seconds, as it often results in cold contents and hot crockery.

Nice clean environment, friendly staff. Very efficient service and good value for money. Recommend the smoothies, very tasty.

Twenty minute wait for weak (and expensive) coffee - not impressed! Very busy and possibly understaffed

I chose the salmon fish cakes, what a mistake! They looked delicious and had a crunchy exterior. However, once cut open they were just mush. There was no texture or flavour. It was like eating baby food. Very disappointing and a waste of money.

Went for brunch had a lovely steak Ciabatta my wife has a gf Caesar salad food was great and a good selection of gf cake so good we went back later for a second go

We always come here for Breakfast. A treat when you drive from Oxfordshire. Always friendly lovely cheerful team and bright and clean. We'll be back in the morning 🌄 x

Spacious cafe serving good coffee and food. Not easy to find and parking can be a problem, but well worth seeking out, just ask a local. Staff are very friendly and welcoming.

Lovely staff and the breakfast was fantastic we had brown toast, avocado, salmon two poached eggs. Tasted amazing. Well worth a visit if you are in the area. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We went here for the great Soft Play area within the building . Coffe and lunch were good . Staff nice .

My first visit to this fabulous cafe. My toasted bacon sandwich on brown bread, no butter was the best one I have ever eaten.My Americano was good too. The staff were very customer focused and pleasant and provided an excellent service. I’m so looking forward to my next trip to North Devon and will definitely visit again.

Don’t let the proximity to its sister Soft Play venue fool you, this place is epic. Do you remember when coffee shops used to take pride in the presentation and taste of their drinks? Well this place is a hark back to those times, and includes their food too. Not to mention a chilled environment and friendly staff too. Highly recommended on a bike ride as parking can be a pain, though the Tesco car park is a short walk away.

We came to the Quay cafe for the soft play. It was so clean, safe and very well set up! My 3year old was able to navigate the whole thing independently which is a massive bonus! We had cooked vegetarian breakfast which was very fairly priced (£8.75 per breakfast I think) and it was delicious! Toilets clean with clean nappy changing areas. Really great morning out!

I love avocado, eggs and sourdough so when we came to visit I was really looking forward to breakfast. This was so disappointing. The cheap tasting guacamole was so cold it made the eggs and toast cold before it had arrived. The menu needs to say ‘guacamole’ which is really what is was and it did not taste homemade but shop bought. The coffee was good but the cheap tasting breakfast was nasty.

Had to wait for local dog walkers who were using the car park as a free convenience to move before we could park. Nice small soft play for children who may be daunted by bigger venues. Service was ok and staff polite enough but it’s a shame they are let down by the standard of food. Cheapest of cheap food delivered at “speciality” prices. Eat before you go!

Lovely staff, brilliant freshly cooked breakfast, great gluten-free options. Great coffee. Clean loos. Our favourite breakfast place. The guy that runs it is always upbeat!

Excellent coffee and cake, very clean toilets, light and interesting interior with a relaxed and friendly vibe. A really nice haven which allowed dogs and welcomed a toddler

Good food served quickly. But wish they would clear tables. quicker. Picking up litter outside would be good (lots) Then there is the seagulls nesting nearly overhead, filthy things, got sprayed by their filth while having coffee. Can only make first impression once. Could be...

7 of us went for breakfast this morning, ordered a variety of dishes and all arrived as ordered and perfectly cooked. Highly recommend their smashed avocado with smoked salmon and poached eggs on toast, absolutely delicious! Lovely decor, great service and spotlessly clean

We had breakfast here every morning for a week. Great service, great food and friendly staff. Can recommend the toasted sausage bap and the full English. Dog friendly too.

Lovely clean and tidy cafe with a soft play area attached for the young ones. Food ordered was delicious and delivered in a excellent time frame, found by accident while having the car fixed, will definitely come back.

Great visit today. Loads of outside space, lovely table service for receiving drinks. Also they do ice cream for dogs, which my dog loved. Reasonable prices. Very pleased.

Visited here as attracted by the soft play. The soft play is clean tidy well presented and well maintained, a bit smaller then we are used to but that is what it is. £9 for 90 minutes seems abit steep too. I had a hot...

Plenty of room for our 3 dogs, who had a real welcome from all the staff and several treats! Great coffee and toasted sandwiches - huge portions and nicely presented. Thoroughly recommend!

Hopeless! Went there this morning for breakfast. Walked in…one girl making coffee, one cleaning tables..stood at reception for several minutes, zero acknowledgement from anyone, despite girl two feet away. Waited no waited…zero service..walked out..went to other local cafe.seated and serve red in minutes..won’t be going...

Had breakfast here this morning and the plate had a pool off grease on the bottom. The mushrooms, tomato and sausages had been deep fried it was disgusting. The sausages had no flavour apart from the taste of dirty grease. The beans were cold, and...

We had been along the toll road to the Braunton Burrows and decided to stop here for a coffee and cake. The café is well situated and there is lots of outside seating. We had lovely tray bake cakes and coffee and enjoyed them both....

Visited the Quay Cafe with family and friends, hugely disappointed with everything. The service was incredibly slow despite having plenty of staff working. 4 staff were stood behind the till doing very little. The staff were rude and not welcoming, asking for sauces was greeted...

It would be nice if they had a bit of flexibility. We are local, regular customers but the manager was not accomodating. We'll not be going back, so they've lost quite a bit of custom from us.

A family lunch. Fab service, delicious food. Generous size and tasty ice creams too. Would highly recommend. Great atmosphere - very chilled.

We had breakfast here around 9:30 am today. The Quay breakfast was really fast and delicious; we each had bacon, 2 eggs, 2 sausages, mushrooms, beans, 2 hash browns, tomato, 4 pieces of toast, tomato sauce and brown sauce, butter and jam. And a cappuccino...

Great stop for Breakfast, excellent veggie and real, and a smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Parking on site, and very friendly staff. What not to like, and not just because it is the day after England beat Germany :-)

Bit disappointing really. We were close by and thought it looked like a decent place to stop on a cycle ride with kids. Poor service. Dirty table, which was eventually cleared. Money taken before the food came with table service (a pet hate of mine)...

My smoothie was just foam and my brothers cup was much bigger than mine. The coffee was very very boring and cold and took us almost years to arrive will not be coming back

Started coming here just before the “lockdown” , how I hate that word ! ,only down the road from me, 1st place to visit , friendly staff , all well run , nice chicken and bacon sandwich and two very nice fresh pints of Korev , can’t complain about any of it , pay by phone and maybe card?Well done to all involved , proper job!

I ordered take away burgers from here and they were expensive to. Note they are frozen cheap patties used and you can do better buying tescos own brand which are tastier.I just wish businesses would learn stop selling cheap and nasty products at sky high prices!

Excellent food and drinks right on the Tarka trail. All sorts of milkshake options, and would recommend ‘dirty chips’ to fuel up on before cycling. Space to lock up your bikes and both indoor and outside seating. Lovely airy and clean. Would happily recommend to hungry cyclists (or anyone else).

Was unsure looking at the cafe from the outside, but inside it is really nice and surfy with amazing food! Brilliant! We will use regularly 👍

Popped in for brunch, but we were too late for what looked like an excellent breakfast menu (to be fair it was 11.15) so had early lunch! Really good coffee and smoothies, yummy pizza and a delicious falafel wrap. The service was great and the Chocolate orange cake was outstanding! Highly recommended.

The pizzas and the falafel were really tasty, and the children enjoyed their meals too. Uncrowded seating, light and airy surroundings, and friendly people. A real find. Soft play too in a linked, separate area: fun for the kids, quiet for the parents! Nice Cornish lager as well.

Staying close by, 3rd year now in braunton, lovely to find somewhere on our doorstep that is so good. Light, airy, cool and spotlessly clean, a real gem. Had coffee outside when dog walking, great service, polite and friendly young staff. Looked at menu and went for a meal day after, had the special, pan fried sea bass, new potatoes and salad, excellent value at £7.95, husband had roasted veg pizza, gorgeous. Staff very attentive.Cafe is very dog friendly both inside and out, providing water and biscuits, without being asked. Licensed so able to enjoy drinks with meal. Menu, varied, with lots to suit all tastes. 10 out of 10!

This is such a lovely place and it was perfect to stop at for lunch before cycling home again. There is also a soft play area for kids so would be perfect for lunch out with the family. The prices are reasonable and I was over the moon to find fish finger sandwiches in the adult menu. The food was was lovely and the staff were all very friendly. Will defo go back again

At the end of our walk on the south west coastal path we saw signs to the Quay Café. Although the signs said 800 yards it seemed slightly more (maybe it was that end of the day feeling) but you eventually find the café on the corner as you approach a small roundabout. The café appears to be relatively recently opened and has lovely relaxed décor and offers friendly service. We had coffee and cream teas. The coffee was probably the best I had during our 4-day trip and the cream tea as good as you get at the best locations. The staff were also helpful when we were looking for instructions about how to get back to Staunton Sands by bus.For service, ambience and food Quay Café is to be recommended.

Stumbled on this place whilst walking coastal path and enjoyed a pleasant tea there. Went back for breakfast and had the best bacon baps with an excellent cup of coffee. Not busy so brilliant service and very helpful and friendly staff. Cracking location and nice environment.

Sensible Prices, Delic Coffee and more-ish Sweet Potato Fries. We certainly will be back.....and as a local that could be often! Plenty of room, relaxing and enjoyable. "See you soon"

Really nice cafe, plenty of space, very chilled. Lots of of food/drinks/cakes to choose from, and a nice place to spend time, either alone working or with friends.

We stopped here on our walk along the SWCP from Croyde to Barnstaple as it came at just the right time for a light lunch. It was a cold and rainy day and we had excellent hot chocolates to drink and shared an enormous and tasty falafel pitta. The staff were friendly and the whole place, especially the toilets were spotless. A real find.

Great local coffee, friendly service, cakes and a very welcome chunky homemade fish finger sandwich to refuel on our walk! Other food also looked great. Well worth stopping in!
