First night on holiday we ordered and collected a takeaway. Got back to our accommodation and my wife’s main dish was missing. I called, no answer. I drove back to collect it, called 3 more times still no answer. On arrival I explained and the lady working the front said they’d make it and went to the kitchen to ask for this. She came back to say that’s fine and they would make it. When she came back I suggested that given the inconvenience of having to drive 10 mins back and my meal would be by now ruined I felt that we should be refunded for the missing dish (most restaurants near us would offer this in this circumstance). The lady said she would need to get approval for a refund as well, went to the kitchen came back and said that was fine. I sat down waiting for the dish. 5 mins later the owner came out and asked if she could help me. I said I’m just waiting for my wife’s missing dish. She said they didn’t and wouldn’t make it as I asked for a refund? I explained the above which resulted in a ten minute argument with the abrasive owner finally conceding that there was a ‘miscommunication’ with the lady at the front but saying that given they refunded me they wouldn’t make my dish as well - she mockingly laughed at this and seemed incredulous that I would ask. Apparently having to drive a 20 min round trip to collect a single missing dish is ok. When I showed the 4 missed calls she said they stop taking orders at 7.30 so don’t answer their phone after that time 🤦‍♂️ She said that their kitchens were now closed and to be fair she finally did offer for her son to make it but by that stage I just wanted to leave. The final insult was when I got home (to my by now cold dry meal) and my family said they’d also forgotten the prawn toast. I didn’t drive back to speak to them about that…

Absolutely delicious food from here last week, we had 2 curries, rice , chicken chow mein, chicken balls chips and sauces and it was all hot and fresh and soooo tasty. We are fussy with Chinese usually and don't go anywhere other than our local. Being on holiday we didn't have high hopes! But we were so pleased. Kids enjoyed it so much. We would definitely go here again if we return to ilfracombe.

After seeing the good reviews we decided to give this take away a try. Unfortunately the food was dry, flavourless and we were both really disappointed - wouldn't recommend or order again

Fantastic Chinese and decent size portions. Read some good reviews about the food and did not disappoint. Did a collection as was just down the road from where we were staying, but offers delivery too. Would definitely get Chinese from here again when we come back to Ilfracombe.

The food is just so great. The duck noodles, nasi goreng and pork ribs are to die for. I am asian so i know when a chinese takeway good or bad. This is awesome. So far the best chinese i’ve ever tried in England.

Very nice food, fresh vegetables and dishes were hot. Sweet and sour Hong Kong style dish was lovely. Yueng chow chow mein was also very nice.

We booked a table last minute and they squeezed us in which was great! Nicely decorated and we were greeted warmly. We ordered lots of dishes including vegetarian foods which were all tasty and delicious and great value for money and we would recommend to anyone looking for Chinese or Malaysian cuisine to try here.

After trying to arrange a takeaway(no luck) we decided to visit the restaurant instead. They had four, yes 4 people eating with lots of empty tables! When asked if we could sit in we were told no. We then asked if we can have a takeaway and we're told no again. They didn't have enough to cater for us!!! Rude staff and definitely will not be going back

They open three times a week so we were lucky to be in town the days they were open. So the next day they were open, we called in for takeaway and tried other food on their menu! Food was flavorful for our Asian tastebuds! We ordered Crispy Sweet Sour Beef (must try!), Mee Goreng (husbands fav as it was spicy to his liking), Yong Chow Fried Rice with veggie (son’s favorite), Roast Duck Wrap (absolutely delicious), Kung Po Chicken (spicy and tasty), Prawn Tempura and Singapore Meehoon. Also ordered noodles and steamed rice to eat with the other dishes. A great mix. Staff was welcoming and friendly. Will definitely come back if ever in town again. Thanks for the lovely meals! Xx

Good food and extremely friendly staff

So impressed. Booked yesterday for today. We had a superb meal served by very friendly ladies. Had a marvellous evening. Cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. Thank you All for a memorable evening.

Very quirky restaurant . Only opened 3 days a week with strange hours and customer service where they are doing you a favour . Not even sure if any Chinese people are involved here but despite this the food is excellent and all seemed very fresh . Would definitely come back again .

Everything we tried was good. We have only been once as we were a tourist in the area but could thoroughly recommend for the good food and the service.

Phoned about 7.30 to place order for takeaway. We were told they weren’t interested in taking any more orders today. No great surprise this is the general standard of service to be expected in Ilfracombe. I wouldn’t advise anyone to bother coming here ever.

What a cheerful bunch this lot are. The stated hours of opening don’t mean a thing as when I called, I received was a no eve before I could ask anything. Blunt rude and very unfriendly. I won’t bother trying again.

We wanted to sit down earlier than their start time. They couldn't quite make the time we asked, but still 15 mins before they would have normally started, which was very helpful. The service was very good - staff were very attentive and good-humoured too! The food was very tasty and good quality. We all left satisfied, and a bit overfull, despite taking home a tupperware with leftovers!

I never write takeaway reviews but the food was so amazing I had to this time! We ordered last night and it was posdibly tue hest chinese food we've had compared to our locals in london. Food was non greasy, fresh and really tasty. Came with free prawn crackers. The portion size was smaller than we are use to (we normally eat the rest the next day) but each dish was enough for 1 person. Highly recommend!

Here on holiday with my fiancé for the week, so glad I chose Emperors Court for which turned out to be ‘The Best’! Chinese takeaway I’ve ever had, very polite and helpful front of house staff, great tasty food, plenty per portion and complete value for money!! Would highly recommend 👍👍👍

We came to Ilfracombe for a weekend away by the time we arrived it was dinner so walked along the road looking for somewhere to eat. Found Emperors Court, food was amazing staff so helpful and knowledgeable helping us decide what to order. Highly recommend wish we lived nearer!

We were lucky to get the last table available on a Saturday night (in late January), but thoroughly enjoyed our evening at the Emperors Court. The staff were very friendly, the service was good and the food was very tasty. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Ilfracombe.

The staff here were really lovely and friendly and I cannot fault them at all. They were attentive and welcoming and the food came out hot and fairly quickly considering there was a good amount of people in the restaurant. The food though was very average. My husband had squid to start which to be fair he did say was cooked really well but our mains were just ok. The food here certainly isn't bad but it's really nothing special either.

We had king prawn chow mein. B.b.q.spare ribs . And spring rolls. Best Chinese takeaway we've had. Excellent. And they deliver .highly recommended 👌

Arrived at 6pm to order a takeaway to be told by a rude woman that they were too busy to take any orders and that I should have phoned my order through. No apologies. Checked their website and it did not suggest phoning orders through. Pointless really when they trumpet the fact that their food is cooked to order ie when they see the whites of your eyes. Went to the nearby Tandoori nights takeaway and got an excellent,cheaper meal in 15 minutes. This review is zero stars

After booking a takeaway collection time of 6pm, I arrived 8 minutes early. I informed them that I had arrived early and would wait outside. The rather rude lady seemed extremely put out at the fact that I had arrived early - not great customer service! We had ordered 5 main dishes. Sweet and sour , deep fried beef, lemon chicken. All had soggy batter which slid of the meat. Really not the best at all. Would and could not recommend !

Just had an amazing takeaway from the Emperors Court, which is equally as good quality as eating in their restaurant. We have eaten in many Chinese/Cantonese restaurants and the Emperor’s Court is up there with the best. Really fresh quality ingredients and service with a smile. Would not hesitate to recommend.

During these difficult times, it is good to have a super Chinese delivered to your door. My wife and I chose the King Prawn Chow Mein, sweet and sour sauce,Singapore style Beef with Peppers, Mushrooms and Onions and Egg fried Noodles.We were both very pleased with how tasty the food was. Thanks to the chef, the lady on the phone who took our order, the delivery service and all who work there.

Stopped in this evening initially to order a takeaway but as tired and had to drive home asked to dine in. We ordered a takeaway from here whilst staying the weekend in Ilfracombe. We went here as it seemed the one with the better reviews. On entering we were advised we might not be able to order as they were running out of food. No beef dishes available so we went for chicken. Restaurant not bust but still waited a long time.Took it back to where we were staying and have to say very disappointed with food for the price. Not particularly flavoursome. Bland actually and 4 tiny spring rolls for 4.15.chips 2.90 but very few and not nice

We popped in here on our last night in Ilfracombe and wished we'd found this place sooner . We were told there may be a wait for the food as we hadn't reserved a table but we didn't mind and actually didn't wait long at all . There was only one chef and he cooked the food to order and we found the food absolutely delicious and I could have easily eaten more . Would totally recommend this place .

Food was very nice and staff where pleasant, a little slow but we wasn't in a hurry A massive basket of prawn crackers, Singapore chicken was lovely, but chicken chow mein wasn't like our usual one but nice anyway recommend this place....

Quite possibly the best Chinese in the uk

They said it would only take 20 minutes which it did we collected and walked 2 minutes to our flat and the food was stone cold! it couldn't have been just cooked or it would have still been hot. We heated it and shouldn't have wasted the lecky it had no flavour, it actually tasted like they hadn't added as much as a drop of soy sauce I have literally never had food so tasteless, nearly £80 worth of food in the bin. Whoever the chef was on 12th July should be sacked

I visited again last week as part of a group of 7; my grandparents, parents, husband and daughter.

Was (rightly) worries when they said the food would be ready in 10 minutes. Shredded beef was soggy, cold and clearly microwaved. 7 bitesize, greasy chicken nuggets that were falling apart was the most pathetic excuse of chicken balls I’ve ever seen. Chips weren’t that bad and the sweet and sour sauce was quite nice. All in all absolutely the worst takeaway I’ve ever had regardless of cuisine

First takeaway tonight, will definitely be back for more! Delicious food ready on time and very reasonably priced. Highly recommend.

The food and ambiance is amazing!

Having eaten here a few times both in the restaurant and as a takeaway the food has always been good, however this visit was particularly delicious!

Yet again another cracking meal. Celebrating my hubby's birthday. Food perfect..served with a smile and great portions. Chilli beef amazing....crispy duck fab....and you must have the Malaysian Chicken Curry!!.... Thank you guys awesome. Xx

Absolutely amazing food. Best restaurant I’ve been too in a long time. King prawn starter is to die for and had the Szechuan chicken for a main course which was full of flavour and tasted amazing. Thanks to Emma for service, the place made a lovely meal. We will be back. Highly recommended

We had wanted to visit here for a while but due to the limited days they are open we hadn't been able to until now. I am pleased to say we weren't disappointed. The starters were good but not great, nothing was majorly wrong but we had just had two great meals in Ireland so we were comparing things to that. The salt and pepper squid was nice but lacked salt and pepper, and the satay was ok but lacked some flavour. All that said it was good and we had no reason to complain because of it. The mains were delicious, we can highly recommend the Kung Pao and also the Malaysian curry.both excellent and full of flavour. Finally if you are reading the reviews and read the one about it not being a place for vegetarians, that's rubbish. That review is nothing more than a public and unwarranted whinge.

If youre looking for a well cooked oriental meal thays reasonanly priced and flavoursome then think again as this place won't tick any of your boxes. The quality is sadly very poor. Only worthy of a one star, rude customer service, inadequately portioned and over priced food. Awfully presented as we found with one of the desserts, it was packaged and then disguised in a plastic sundae dish, not the sort of expectations you have for a a restaurant. Won't be returning unless it's for the prawn toast as that seemed to be the only tasty and cooked thing that we received!

Having collected a £60+ takeaway, we found that the vegetable chow mein contained chicken and what appeared to be a piece of beef!! The rices were all tasteless, the satay chicken was as dry as a bone and everything else tasted like it was coated in sugar. Having phoned the restaurant, mainly to say about the chow mein, we were told we would have to bring it all back. This was the last evening of our holiday in Woolacombe and we didn't want another 10 miles round trip, all we required was the money back on the chow mein which was no use to our vegetarian daughter. The restaurant made no effort to rectify the situation. Will be steering clear in future!!

I searched trip advisor for the best Chinese around and Found this restaurant takeaway with good reviews and we were not disappointed we had popped in for a takeout but we ended up eating in.

Fantastic meal will go again this week

Intended to visit here the night before our actual visit. This didn’t happen as they were closed. Opening hours were advertised wrong on their website!! (they are closed on Wednesdays, despite being advertised as open). It’s a shame we weren’t put off by this!!

Good range of food available in a central location. They accommodated a large party of us with a range of ages after we had booked in advance. Service was good and prices as you would expect from Cantonese food. Food was average quality.

Found this restaurant takeaway whilst holidaying, clean, usual Chinese influenced décor, food was very tasty, good size mains, starters seemed on the small side however were very tasty, seemed a busy enough place to be popular but not overcrowded. A good meal enjoyed by all of our party.
