Not had a takeaway for a while but this one was good, no complaints.

Ordered a takeaway for me and my family, delivery was quick but when opening we found metal wire stuck in a prawn, when pulled out a 4 inch piece of wire came out, luckily I noticed it before my elderly grandmother ate it. Phoned up and got offered the same dish or £8 off my next delivery, I don’t think either of these 2 options match up with this issue here.

Been coming here for years! Always cooked fresh and authentic from the owners, a small business that’s takes pleasure in what they do. They’ve worked so hard and you can tell, it’s perfection each time, and they are very good with dietary restrictions or just taking out what you don’t like! 10/10 recommend, never liked a Chinese takeaway before this one

Wasn't very good at all tonight. Some chicken was rubbery, they changed their noodles to dry mushy/sticky ones and barely had any beansprouts in it at all. What a shame and disappointing dinner

My favourite Chinese dish is Chicken and mushroom noodles, I tried this at the New Power - I didn't regret it. I went back a few weeks later and tried junbao chicken and rice, it was awesome 😎👍

Best Chinese I ever had. Shame its not local to me. You should very proud, decent and afford thank you. The service is very good and polite. The delivery speed is also very fast.

This used to be our go to Chinese takeaway. Had a birthday takeaway tonight. It was awful. Everyone struggled to eat it. Most of it ended up been thrown away. So salty although tasted more MSG which they claim not to use. Certainly won't be using them again. Such a shame after many years of getting our takeaways there.

The food very very nice,👍I can't think of a single negative about the Power! We use them often and have never been let down. Wholesome food with no slimy monosodium glutamate .. Large portions of well cooked meat with just enough veg, not over loaded with onions or peppers as fillers. Always hot, always fresh and always exactly what we ordered. We'll done team , you have The Power to invite us back time and time again. We have no power to resist you!

This is my go to for a takeaway and recently the food has been scrumptious but tonight’s (Saturday 16th December) wasn’t the best. If this was a new place to me I think I may have given less than 3 stars but because normally I would have given 5 stars I only knocked 2 off. Not sure I’ll be having another takeaway from here, tonight’s experience has really out me off.

Been to The Power on and off for years, tonight’s meal was absolutely wonderful , noodles were cooked to perfection, delivery was spot on and food delivered was still hot

Fan Fantastic Chinese take away. I will definitely recommend to my family and my friends. The chicken ball is delicious and crispy beef are very good tasting. We will come back again! Superb food,possibly the tastiest and freshest dishes I have tasted for a long time. Highly recommend.

The food was amazing, so much flavour in every dish and although I was worried when I ordered a chicken and corn soup and the portion looked much smaller that the usual soup in other similar restaurants, it was so tasty and there was plenty...

The food quality has been declining over the past couple of years along with the attitude of the staff manning the phone. The delivery drivers are always polite and always on time, and that’s the only good thing. Last nights meal was the worst meal...

Disgusting. As a Chinese family, raised in takeaways, we are disgusted by the abominable service, and the food was poor quality, too. The wrong order delivered, we telephoned immediately, the staff said ''my bad' but would not complete the order. We had paid for delivery and one person's meal was absent. Over £26 on the order, and only a 3 mile delivery for the business. The "manager" was extremely rude (he spoke as if he was auditioning for The Apprentice - abrasive, patronising and unprofessional.) He spoke about us, whilst on the phone, to an audience, declaring us 'rude customers' and deriding the fact that we were unhappy with not receiving an order, stating 'we are here to make money, don't you understand that?' 'We're a business, we need to make money'. He repeatedly asserted how minor our order was to them (even though t was very important to us), was demeaning, and stating 'don't you understand the cost of fuel? It would cost us £5 to deliver now'. It does not cost £5 to drive 3 miles. We had paid for delivery. We had paid for the components of the meal that were rendered useless because of the missing accompaniments. The food that was delivered was rubbery and poor quality. With 22 years in the Chinese Takeaway business, this is an area I know very well indeed. I would not recommend The Power to anyone. (And they state cash payments only.)

The food was lovely and the service from the two young lads was spot on. However the 2nd I rang. I asked if they do gravy the reply I got was very agorant from a young English women. Almost as she was speaking down towards me as I from the north and enjoy gravy with a Chinese. This service is what makes people boycot places. I hope her manner is pulled by the manager and she reflects on the matter and learns from her mistake.

On the website it states that delivery is £2 up to 3 miles.we live about a mile away And we’re charged £4, whe I questioned it and repeated what it said on the website I was told that the cost depends where the delivery is....

The special fried rice is at best an average chicken fried rice, rice is bland and dry, poor customer service, always forgetting items off the delivery, can't order in advance by phone.

Do not buy from them! As you can see it’s discussing! Ordered a beef satay and i got horrible chicken soaking in oil. Waste of money! We throw everything away!

Ordered a delivery for 8.10pm and it arrived at 10.20pm! Was not impressed with the service or the quality of cold and sweaty food on arrival. Tried to call to enquire about if was actually going to be delivered, at first continuously engaged then transferred to a mobile which noone answered. Will not be ordering from The Power ever again as unreliable.

Yuck!! Phoned and ordered a delivery for 7.00pm. By 7.30pm still no sign of food, so rang them again to be told as she answered the phone "we're not taking any orders tonight".....I jumped in and informed her I had already ordered. When checking back, she found our order and informed me they were waiting for the driver to come back. At 7.50pm our food arrived. We paid cash on delivery, as requested by them - conveniently!! I go to dish the food up - egg fried rice was so cold it was all stuck together and looked like a sandcastle on the plate. We had 4 different chow meins to account for all our tastes.....they were all cold. I would not recommend this takeaway to anyone - and after seeing some reviews I can see I'm not alone.

This is normally my go to for Chinese but this time definitely not!! The food was great but I was charged twice then refused my money back. Absolutely appalling customer service - I was told to go back this evening to get my money back then the girl I spoke to on the phone said she never told me to go there tonight.. lies. Been told to go back AGAIN tomorrow to get my money back once they have checked their card machine. I’ve spoken to my bank and they have confirmed the money has been taken! I won’t be going here again.

Absolutely terrible! We ordered Singapore chow mein, special Singapore curry, special fried rice, egg fried rice and curry sauce. The food was bland, no spice to the curry at all, there was egg in the Singapore chow mein. And the curry sauce tasted of coconut. The only positive was what little meat there was in the food was tender! We threw the majority of it away! A complete and utter waste of money! Do not advise in the slightest unless you have no taste buds!

The power will always be my favourite Chinese around Barnstaple, great food and great customer service. Really recommend

as a family of 6 getting a Chinese is expensive £90+ but this is worth it the food is pipeing hot excellent quality and great sevice best Chinese around!

Never again ! We use this Chinese takeaway because it is convenient to where we live . The food has always been up and down ... some OK but mainly poor. Last nights was terrible and we both woke up with dodgy tummies to add insult to injury. £20 !!! It’s not worth 20p !!! .... we’ll vote with our feet ..... goodbye “The Power”... it hasn’t been nice knowing you !!

Just ordered a Chinese Takeaway from The New Power in Barnstaple and my takeaway turned up as Sweet and Sour Chicken Balls instead of the Sweet and Sour Prawn Balls I ordered (thankfully I noticed just as I was about to bite into the first one!) I haven't eaten meat for over 25 years so I'm 100% sure of what I ordered. Having called The New Power to tell them of the mistake I was told I could drive up and get a replacement (I've had a drink hence booking a takeaway so that was impossible), they then offered a replacement the next time I order! As it was their mistake and I've not eaten I was expecting them to sort a replacement and correct their mistake, they just weren't interested in the slightest as they are too busy and have no drivers available for delivery! IMO shocking customer service and they didn't doing anything to try and correct a mistake that is 100% theirs! If there are no drivers and you've messed up why not just pay for a taxi and correct your mistake!! Surprisingly I won't ever be using them again and will be telling everyone I know about their 'amazing' customer service!On a positive I guess I have a couple more spare calories left for alcohol!

Fantastic Chinese take away. I have eaten from here around six times in the last six months and have always been served with a fantastic meal, whatever the dish. I would definitely recommend the honey chilli crispy chicken 10/10 the shredded chilli beef is good also. Salt and pepper chips are good, a real large tray 👍

I picked up an order last night on my way home. Very disappointed with the quality of the food, especially the chicken satay, this looked extremely unappetising and the sauce was awful. The other dish I had was ok but not great. I don't get a Chinese takeaway very often but have always gone to the power as it has been very good in the past, but sorry, I won't be going again.

Ordered a few bits and only half came so I rung up and questioned why and all the women on the phone did was give me attitude saying that I can get a refund when I come into the takeaway. Needs to learn some manners

Dont bother if you have food allergies. Was told they dont do gluten free, wouldn't say if any particular meal may or may not have gluten in, just flatly said we dont do gluten free. No dinner for me then, thanks a bunch. Won't be returning. Most places these days provide something, cant believe their attitude here. Their menu says staff will advise you, all i got was no we don't do gluten free.

Food arrived quickly which would have been great if they got the order correct. When I rang to mention this and ask for redelivery of the correct items I was rudely told by the staff member who answered the phone that they were 'sorry' and we could come and collect the correct items from the store. When I asked if they could deliver the items as we'd paid for delivery as we couldn't come to the store I was rudely asked if I "thought I was the only delivery they had? There are other customers and we can't hold up their deliveries for you!"Honestly I'm disgusted by the attitude and service of the staff member in question who then hung up on me. Seriously sort out your staff! Some customer service training wouldn't go amiss!Avoid at all costs.

Disgusting. The worst Chinese food I've ever had. It feels and tastes like it was made by a chav who thinks they know how to make Chinese food.
