This is a great place for a coffee or something to eat when waiting for a train or shopping in the area. I meet friends here once a month and have never been disappointed. The full vegetarian breakfast is excellent. Don’t go to Costa, come here instead!

Lovely cafe, friendly staff, fresh daffodils on every table. Great coffee and the best bacon butty in Barnstaple. Very nice outside seating area with lovely wild garden. Dog friendly!

We really liked the selection of snacks on offer including healthy, gluten free and vegan options. Something to cater for everyone. It’s a good cafe with good service

I visited this cafe about two weeks ago and the tea and cake that I had there, while waiting for my train, were fine. I sat outside, in their garden, as it was a sunny afternoon, but, unfortunately, I rather stupidly left a very special pair of sunglasses there when I went to catch my train and did not realize this until the train had departed! I telephoned them immediately but only got an answer machine so I left a message telling them what had happened and where I had sat so that they could, hopefully, go and retrieve my sunglasses and, then, call me back - but they didn’t call. I telephoned them again later but was, again, connected to their answering machine. So, the next day, I sent them an e-mail asking if anyone had seen or handed in a pair of sunglasses but, once again, I did not receive a reply. Therefore, I decided to make a special journey to Barnstaple (yesterday) so that I could speak to them in person to find out if anyone had found my sunglasses but, unsurprisingly, no-one had and, so, I had a wasted journey! They did confirm that they had received both my answer machine message and my e-mail - so why had nobody bothered to reply? I fully appreciate and accept that it is my fault that I have lost my sunglasses but if the staff there had only answered the telephone when I first called, they may well have been able to retrieve them for me. Also, if they had replied to either of my messages telling me that no-one had found my sunglasses, that would have saved me a wasted journey! Is it, therefore, this cafe’s policy to completely ignore their customers’ telephone messages and e-mails? What if I had wanted to book a party or a large function in their cafe, would they have ignored me then? No, probably not. Not that I would want to do that, especially now, since I really don’t feel that I want to return to this cafe any time soon after the way they ignored my messages, which is such a shame as I have been there many times in the past, on frequent visits to Barnstaple, and have always found the previous staff very friendly and helpful. This certainly does not appear to be the case now, sadly.

Went here for breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed it. Food was well cooked and presented and probably one of the best cooked breakfasts I've had in a café. I'm not a big fan of baked beans but was offered an additional item without having to ask which was a nice touch. Coffee was also good - well worth a visit.

I go to the Station Masters Cafe fairly regularly (I live about 20 miles away and collect family from the station when they come to visit). The people serving are always friendly and very welcoming. I love the food and the tea! The garden and tree are superb to sit in when the sun is out and everyone is arriving for their holidays.

A beautiful shady little oasis on a hot day, lovingly kept, great coffee and friendly staff. Shame no vegan cakes but the do offer a vegan breakfast, will visit again to try it when I have more time. A real variety of bird and bee friendly plants, water for dogs. You don’t need to be waiting for a train to visit this special place.

Very pleasant with a pretty garden and tidy inside area adjoining the station which has been refurbished. I had a very good ploughman's lunch. Not licensed to sell alcohol.

We stopped her for coffee on our cycle to Bideford. A must stop to get your SWCP passport stamped. We enjoyed lovely coffees in the outside seating area.

Came to buy tickets and decided to have coffee afterwards. (Shout out for handsome Chris in the ticket office, and his sweet colleague, sorry no name, five stars for helpfulness.) Very strong expresso, good Americano in delightful space. Very pretty garden attached with lots of seating, bird feeding section. Imaginative selection of sandwiches to take away. Fairly basic "English" menu to eat in, but didn't sample anything; caters for vegans. Small shop with postcards, pictures, and very expensive jams and chutneys, some of which from Diddly Squat Farm!! A very well kept station, with good loos. Recommended.

We were catching an early train to Exeter and didn't wake in time to have breakfast. Luckily, there is this gorgeous little cafe right in the train station, which I didn't know even existed! Even though there was quite a queue and the tables were all full, we were served quickly and our orders were taken. There was a deal on bacon & sausage bap with a coffee which was a bonus. The order arrived within minutes and we were soon on the platform enjoying a very tasty bap with great sausages & perfectly cooked bacon. The roll wad fresh and buttered. It really set us up for the day, and the staff were so efficient and friendly. We will definitely use it again in the future!

We decided to have breakfast before our journey as not enough time in the day to have a proper meal. As it turned out this was a wise move because of a delayed train We had a full breakfast and really enjoyed it. We could taste the quality of the ingredients. Somehow we managed to eat all but were full for hours after.

Popped in here to recover and rehydrate after the hottest bike ride ever! I could hardly string a sentence together and the staff were lovely, patient and super helpful, I ended up paying for our tiny drinks order in 2 goes after forgetting a child and they filled up our water bottles for us with no issues. Whilst I can't comment on food or coffee the tea was good the outside area delightful in the middle our 2nd UK heatwave and the staff couldn't have been nicer. Recommend!

After visiting Captain Jack's in 2023, we were not disappointed on our return visit! The pub decor is great with a good amount of space indoors and outside, the beer is good and the food tasty! Staff are friendly and make tourists feel welcome! A great visit for either lunch or an evening meal!

We booked here for breakfast before our trip home from a short break. Ignored when we went in, then after asking we were stuck on a table next to the toilet with 2 young children and a dog. Asked about gluten free options and explained this was an intolerance for my daughter not an allergy. Weren’t prepared to help or advise, very uninterested - just continued serving at the till and more or less told us everything could have gluten in. We sat back down and looked at each other and I said to my husband “I’m really not happy here” and he replied “nor am I”. We left and on the way out briefly explained why but were ignored. They didn’t even say bye. Went down the road and discovered Ali @ Adele’s Cafe who were super with us, very accommodating, friendly and great food. Night and day compared to this place.

Stayed here for 2 nights to attend a friends wedding in a resort 5 minutes walk up the road. When we arrived it was very busy with people eating in the pub/restaurant and there was no parking. Staff advised they had saved us a space and we moved the cones and got parked. Quickly checked in and shown to our room. The room was spacious and clean. Large bed with 2 single duvets, my only grumble was it was not great sleeping under 2 single duvets on the double bed. We asked staff about getting to the bed behind the hotel and booked a table for dinner bit later, they were really helpful. 20 minute walk up a very steep hill behind the hotel and down a steep cliff path, we were on the most stunning beach, we had a swim! We had the local rump steak and chips for dinner that night and it was delicious. Breakfast both mornings was included and was very nice indeed. Would recommend the food here. We enjoyed our stay here and very good location for attending our friends wedding at Watermouth Cove.

Lovely atmosphere and great customer service. All the staff were friendly, polite and attentive. Tables were cleared and cleaned promptly and everywhere was clean. Very nice coffee and delicious Crunchie milkshake - just wish I lived closer to go back and sample the other flavours and try the food.
