The best restaurants in Mendip South West

We were looking for a pub for lunch & decided to go to Frome as my partner said she had been there before. We saw this pub as we came into Frome & decided to stop here. We wanted a nice cozy proper pub & found it! The lady working there was very friendly & chatty. Food was lush, I had the rump steak & I have to say, for pub grub at pub prices, it was extremely good! Better than more expensive cuts in restaurants that I've had before! If I'm in the area again, I'll definitely pop in for food again!

Quite a very good spot...food was good and tasty..must try will be lamb rogangosh with Roti.. paneer Curry was also nice and highly recommended..

After running this pub for a couple or years in the early 90s its great to see it open and doing well. Best thing about it is the locals, best of luck

Dont normally eat out as you can’t really beat your own or your mums Sunday roast but after a family party on the Saturday no one wanted to cook so we booked a meal at the burcott, let’s just say we definitely wasn’t disappointed it was lovely ,proper slices of meat not the paper thin slices we have had elsewhere crispy roast potatoes ,veg cooked perfectly not all mushy and a great selection would definitely recommend 10/10 will definitely go again

John was the only delight today of thus shameful lunch. The meal was terrible. Dusted calamari was heavily breadcrumbed instead. My Aubergine.. It was served lukewarm so I had to send back to the kitchen. Plus, I could have done the meal myself although I would not!. A huge aubergine, cut in half and dusted with spiced herbs! Really? Stacked against a small plate of couscous and a tiny container of rhita!!! The Fountain.. you should be ashamed!

Wonderful stay at The Holcombe this weekend. A very warm welcome, excellent accommodation in a beautiful location, along with food that on its own is worth a visit to try. Lots of care was taken to make it a very special stay for us. We’ll be back again soon!

Lovely location. Children played in their playground then we went for lunch. Two chickens fish and chips. One ham eggs and chips. Service was good. Portion size was huge. More than happy to return and also recommend. Meals were delicious.

We visited Whiterow farm shop recently and were very impressed with their breakfast, great value for a full English and coffee, will definitely be returning to try the fish and chips! Also a lovely farmshop where you can buy lots of fresh produce.

Here for lunch Usually have fish & chips but decided to have the Fish Special Mongers *mongers mixed grill-salmon, gurnard, cod, lemon sole, prawn Served with chips, aioli dcrais bisque It was superb ! Certainly have this dish again
