I popped in for a hot drink when I had time to kill before an appointment. It was a pleasant sunny day considering it’s October so I sat outside in the garden. I ordered a hot chocolate and an orange juice. The staff were smiling and pleasant. For a hot chocolate and an orange juice it was £7-40 even though it was only a cup not a mug of chocolate. The garden could have been charming but was rather unkempt and neglected. The drinks were absolutely fine no complaints there, the outside toilets were dirty. I went inside to pay and had a look around, it is really grubby and shabby. I live in Glastonbury and know that it has done very well as a trendy deliberately shabby/chic establishment. However it’s now just shabby with nothing chic about it. I walked past the open door of the “artisan bakery” and the standard of cleanliness was shocking I am surprised the environmental health department allow it to continue trading. It doesn’t take a lot of money to keep eating premises immaculately clean and they really need to use some elbow grease and sort it out. I would certainly not eat anything in there in case the standard of cleanliness of the remainder of the place is reflected in the kitchen.

The most off putting experience about this eating establishment is the amount of dogs in with their owners at any one time. I visited recently and it was dog central with at least 8 dogs during my quick visit . If one dog started barking it would set a few more off. The staff are very friendly at times towards the dogs, stroking and petting them and then going about their business behind the food counter handling food and serving customers and not once did I see any staff disappear to wash their hands. The food was very disappointing the worst falafel I’ve had it was just tasteless round balls of nothingness and with the amount of dogs poor standards of hygiene of staff and disappointing food there’s no reason to return.

Not someone that usually writes reviews but this certainly warrants a bad one. I went to place my order and the twice the server ignored me and turned to talk to colleagues so I had to order the same thing three times and even then it was missed! They had no avocado, matcha or croissants. The coffee was actually undrinkable, far too much syrup. The only flavour the food had was salt! Overall just terrible experience!

Not sure about the ethos on the logo. Says 'mix not evil, cook no evil, eat no evil' But then has meat options on the menu. Says its free range meat, but then the animals don't wanna die in the first place so still evil on my opinion! Dishonest statement.

Poor service, disinterested staff. Called in for tea and a cake. Took forever for the order to arrive and when it did, I had to take the tea back because the pot was half full and barely touching the tea leaves. Cake was served in a breakfast bowl. Sullen waitress returned the teapot. Lots of noise around the kitchen but customers were clearly not the main focus for any of the staff. Tables around us needed clearing. Did not feel welcomed at all. Shame as this used to be a favourite of ours.

The food was lacklustre and over-priced, despite enticing descriptions. The vegan pate had a lumpy, a pouring consistency and was inadequately seasoned. The salad was over-powered by far too much dressing. The presentation suggested it had all been hurriedly slopped into the dish with little thought about how it looked. Menus were stained and well-thumbed. Orders taken at the till so paid for in advance but the main course items are not visible at the counter to select from. Had I seen mine in advance I would never have chosen it! Noisy environment too. Serving staff were good and as helpful as they could be but they were as confused as we were by some of the menu codes and food descriptions eg the same food appearing twice on the menu but with different names; some foods had codes that were not included in the explanatory index at the bottom of the menu. So sad. 100 Monkeys used to be a glorious eatery.

They let pretty much any dogs in, but I think ‘friendly’ would be overstating it. Also, no free wifi, like pretty much everywhere else in Glastonbury, and a cafe without free wifi nowadays might as well be a cafe without coffee.

Popped into Glastonbury as we were close by and had never been before. Popped into this cafe for a couple of takeaway coffees, saw their speciality coffee message on the wall next to the till ... Promising I thought, ordered a flat w and a latte, two 8oz cups later... Basically two flat whites? Anyway maybe they had ran out of the larger takeaway cups. Walked around glasto then came back for lunch, saw they had Croque Monsieur on the menu, they arrived and we were both so so disappointed. It was just a poorly made together cheese and ham toastie. A croque Monsieur should have bechamel, and mustard etc etc. rename it or make the proper thing. No WiFi, no charging phones, no music on and not hot food outside. A lot of rules. Wouldn't return

Once upon a time this was a good bistro serving good quality dishes at reasonable prices. Sadly no longer. Now you will find an overpriced and unappetizing menu served by disinterested millennials. The coffee is appalling. I ordered a cappuccino and I'd describe it as a cup of watery warmed up milk Again overpriced even for a boutique coffee shop. The venue itself is well presented, but unfortunately not somewhere I would recommend. I do hope it sorts itself out as it used to be so good.

I asked politely if the person could tone it down but she continued on regardless, almost spiteful. An exceptionally friendly, buzzing place to stop for a coffee or lunch, we did both, and on both occasions we found the staff to be very warm, welcoming, took the time to explain, that as it was busy there would be a wait for food, which we appreciated. Brought a bowl of water for our dog and made us feel very welcome, no pressure to eat and go. A small courtyard at the back with tables. Only advice would be to open up a second toilet. One is not enough for the size of the place.

We have been to this cafe a few times, breakfast/brunch was quite good last time. Today however it was awful, the food lacked finesse, we had a focaccia with hummus and feta and salads of the day which consisted of coleslaw and manky baby spinach, at £10.50 for a dry mountain of feta and not enough hummus 😟 I feel ripped off and hungry, I have never felt like this when eating in Glastonbury.

We've used this place before, and not been disappointed with the atmosphere or food, and this last visit was good for both. But they get marked down for one change only. You order at the counter, orders are not taken at your table. You pay at the time of ordering. At this point, although you have to go to the counter to order and you have yet to receive your food (and so don't know what its like), you are asked if you'd like to add a 'service charge', with options on the payment key pad starting at a cheeky 15%. I have no idea what world the proprietors live in. Your food is brought to you, but that's the only service provided. I think like Totnes in Devon, Glastonbury is the Narnia of Somerset. You can, of course, offer no service charge, which is what I would advise you to do. Leave cash at the table if you're happy and feel a tip is appropriate.

Pretty sure some years ago I came here and had a hearty veggie meal .. recalled good food but overpriced .. Figured would get it again for breakfast .. Ordered the full veggie at £12 : eggs, veggie sausage, tomato, mushroom, local greens and toast .. didn’t seem so bad .. What we got was one egg fried and over cooked, regular mushrooms in butter, two small veg sausages and about 4 spinach leaves with one slice toast .. had to ask for the tomatoes .. which was a half of tomato when brought out … Taste not bad but considerably over priced and pretentious with a back ground of teas and coffees in canisters .. Would recommend the early grey tea but def not the food - Spend your money elsewhere

The Hundred Monkeys has always been our go-to cafe in Glastonbury, prior to and during moving here over a year ago. Sadly, I have seen this once vibrant, soulful cafe steadily go into decline. Yesterday,I took my partner for a birthday tea & cake. The cakes on display looked brown, stodgy and unappetising so we decided to go for the sticky toffee pudding. We were asked if we would like them warmed and if we wanted cream we had to pay extra. The tea and puddings came immediately, the waitress literally dumped the tray on the table. One cup and the one strainer was covered in loose dry tea. The sticky toffee puddings looked as unappetising as the cakes at the counter. The puddings had barely been warmed and they were dry. The sauce was watery and meagre. The pudding instead of tasting of caramel/toffee tasted of ginger and contained huge half walnuts pieces. There was not a glimmer of the sticky toffee in the cake or in the two teaspoonfuls of watery sauce. I had to leave mine as I found it so inedible. Also, the milk jug was dirty. The only saving grace was the loose teas and the cafe itself is such a lovely space to sit and watch the world go by. I paid £19.00, for two teas and two inedible puddings....sadly, we will not be going back.

We always use this cafe for coffee when we visit my mother who is in a care home in Street. The cafe was very busy on Saturday as it was the Christmas Fair, so we were not sure of a table being available. The staff member as soon as she saw mum's wheelchair said she couldn't accommodate us due to health and safely as the wheelchair could block access. Two very kind customers offered us their 4 seater table as they were ready to leave. I explained to the staff member that the wheelchair folded down and mum can use a chair to sit in but was told it wasn't possible. Rather than argue we left along with two other customers who were in the queue behind us. They had overheard the conversation and said based on the staff members poor attitude they would rather go elsewhere . Very disappointing.

Perplexed by the reviews and how busy this place is given how poor the food quality was. I wouldn’t say the prices were outrageous, but I would absolutely expect a higher standard for what we paid. Salad was clearly out of a bag and way past it’s best; leaves were stale/brown on the ends. The burger was dry and unseasoned, the bun was awful - it did not present well at all. Potato salad dry. Overpriced baked potato was totally crucified, blackened to a crisp. Gross! The soup of the day looked ok. Toilet had the remnants of hand soap that was watered down to extend its life. Shame as it looks a nice place from the outside. Might be ok for coffee and cake - but I wouldn’t risk it as lunch was so terrible. I would have complained had my elderly parents not been there - simply didn’t want to create a scene on our family day out.

tbh really quite disappointed. The menu on the website bore no relation to what was available. We checked with the waitress who said it had been out of date for ages - why not update it? My wife’s mezze was billed as having naan bread - instead it was dry and unwarmed pitta bread. The salad with my humous was basically a small garnish, that was largely iceberg lettuce. The olives served with both of our platters were very salty. Whilst nicely presented, we thought it somewhat overpriced. Our waitress - who was very pleasant- did apologise for our disappointment, and hoped it wouldn’t put us off returning. Sadly though, it has.

A truly awful experience when we popped in for tea and cakes around 3.30 on the afternoon of Wed 26 August. I guess we should have been concerned when we encountered several people walking out as we approached, who advised us, "Hell-hole. Rude and have waited half an hour now; they just can't be bothered to serve us." But we'd been before and it had been fine, so we persevered. There were plenty of empty tables, but no-one approached us to seat us (yet the notice said we should wait to be seated) so in the end we just sat down at a table. We were approached by a surly waitress who told us we'd have to wait a 'lot longer' as they were 'busy' (though in fact, they didn't look it; three waitresses were in a huddle, looking at a phone). Another 10 minutes elapsed before another sullen misery approached us and the order was taken. When asked what kind of milk I'd like with my tea, I asked for 'semi-skimmed, please'. She said sulkily, 'We have COW'S MILK and a few other other types, ONLY. So, what do you want?" (!!!) A lot more time elapsed before the tea and 'cow's milk' came. Bang bang went the tea things; not a smile, nothing. Meanwhile, two other sets of folk nearby got up and left; tired of waiting for their order to be taken. What a sad decline in what used to be a peaceful, relaxing haven on a busy afternoon. Given the praise in other reviews, I have to conclude different staff were on duty. Whatever... never again, alas.

Beware the side salad. They have a very small menu and didn't even have some of the items on it. The side salad was £4 and came in the tiniest bowl I've ever seen. It consisted of just iceberg lettuce. Probably less than a single leaf cut up. No other salad stuff at all and the iceberg was brown at the edged. My husband had the bagle and said it was tasty enough, but I certainly won't be going there again.

Change of management have changed the vibe…this was my go to in Glasto and it is not what it was. They have got rid of the Vegan Chocolate cake…my favourite and was the best in the town and, most annoyingly, started charging for OAT MILK….this is Glastonbury, so perhaps more people drink non dairy milk and thus more profit!? I will try one more time to see if they improve, if not, they’ve lost a loyal customer.

There was a warm, smiley welcome as we walked through the door on Saturday afternoon. The tea (Assam) was perfect as were the Date ‘n’ Oat Bar and Scone with Cream, Jam AND Butter (you MUST have butter!) We just sat and chatted. The staff...

Food is fine but the pricing is in rip off territory. soup of the day, six quid. normally you get a piece of bread/butter with soup of the day but not here. bread and olive oil/Balsamic dip. is another three quid. Artisan bread? nope, a single slice of toasted multiseed sliced pan from the co-op. So nine quid for a very small portion of soup and a slice of supermarket bread. Reliant on single visit tourists I guess.

Called in on a snowy day for a warm up. Chose the Cheese Scone and a Latte. Scone was lovely and warm and the butter melted over it. The latte was good tasting and at a good temperature.

Booked a table for 7pm. Arrived and were seated straight away by a friendly member of staff. Our drinks order was taken by 10 past 7. It got to 20 to 8, nobody had been back to take our food order and worst of all our drinks had been sat on a tray on the bar for 30 minutes. The bar staff continued to walk past and ignore them, even taking trays to customers that had ordered after us. After half an hour we left and went to eat somewhere else. Like our drinks, nobody even realised we were leaving. Very strange and unacceptable visit. We are unlikely to return. James

Just had a lunchtime meal. Good value and excellent cooking but the highlight was the superb customer service from the ladies on duty who were caring and apparently multi-skilled.
