I was traveling down south through Frome and stopped here a bit late in the evening. I was quiet lost with finding out everything I needed for the next day. I was given plenty of information and help. The owner of this pub is an absolute Gentleman, The pub atmosphere is very friendly concidering its a small area and many lsmaller areas are not favorable to strangers. I'm looking forward to going back again.

We visited The Vine Tree on the weekend for the Lottery Winners gig upstairs in The Treehouse. We were early getting there so decided to have a drink downstairs first. The staff were extremely friendly and the drinks were much cheaper than I'm used to paying here in Bristol. It was a great venue for an intimate gig (although 100 rowdy Lottery Winners fans did their best to make it feel like a much larger gig :-) )

Back in the days when it use to be run by AMANDA RAENER IT was terrible and service was aweful. She use to offer her customers who use to complain by taking from them other entrance and stand left hand side and give you blowy blowy and make the customers satisfied . But compare to now when theirs changed of hands, the service gone exceptional and now it’s highly recommended . Keep up the good work

The pub is being repainted on the outside, but we through we would pop in for a drink anyway. The locals and lady behind the bar were welcoming and friendly. She was unsure whether the beer ordered would be good as they had just changed it. We decided to go for it anyway. It tasted fine, but when it was nearly half empty the landlord came and put a fresh pint on the table, saying, "I didn't like the colour of that beer." That's a landlord who cares. Thank you, Vine Tree. We will be back!

My partner and I walked in with our toddler and were greeted by a loud "We don't allow children". There was a game of cricket on so we went to the cricket club next door where the staff were friendly and I was happy to hand over my cash for a couple of pints. Will not be going to The Vine Tree again even without kids. Bad Vibes!

This was my 4th visit to this establishment and Im dismayed at the service. We had a party of 5, 3 were served at the carvery and then the chef had to "Sharpen his knife". 6 minutes later he returned and then said he needed more yorkshire puddings and disappeared again for 4 minutes. He at long last returned and served another member of our party before saying he needed more plates and disappeared again for 10 minutes or more. I finally got served when I got back to the table the rest of my party had finished eating. On to deserts, two of my party had deserts and I asked for coffee, 'the coffee machine is broken' If youre thinking of going here for a meal, think again, I'm told the Toby Jug about 8 miles away is much better, thats where I'm off to next time.

We were staying at the Premier inn, but feel that the attached Beefeater was overpriced, so looked on the internet to see what else nearby. Outside looks good, inside a bit disappointing - basic pub furniture etc. Its run by a couple, the wife of whom seems to be the driving force behind the business. A limited evening menu but what we had was well presented, plenty of it and freshly cooked.served with a friendly smile. She is obviously working hard to run a good business and deserves success

Just had our first carvery lunch here. Haven’t been in the Vine Tree for at least 20 years. The lunch was the best carvery we have had anywhere! Veg cooked, not too soft not too firm, roasties great, not hard in the middle or burnt round the outside, gravy not too thin or thick. Lovely cauliflower cheese and a broccoli in cheese sauce, so great if you are a vegetarian. Home made Yorkshire puddings to die for. Lovely meat. A great meal for £6.99 which was for a regular size, which is more than adequate size for most people, but if you need a bigger size the king size meal is £8.99 but didn’t see anybody having that. Some of the pubs serving a Sunday roast in the area could learn a lot from the Vine Tree and their Sunday lunch!

I visited the Vine Tree on Friday 18th August intending to have lunch there. I had previously checked their website which states 'food served from 10 am (and 9 am on weekend), 7 days a week'. I arrived at 11:45 but the place was locked up, all the lights were off and no-one was around. I waited until 12 noon (the time many pubs open for lunch) but it remained closed. No notice was posted on the doors about 'closed for holiday' or similar. So the pub was not only closed for meals but it was closed for drinks as well. Even the postman tried to get in but couldn't. I dined elsewhere in Frome that day, and I will never return to the Vine Tree. Appalling attitude to potential customers - avoid this place.

Just got home from a lovely Sunday roast and pudding at The Vine Tree and I can honestly say it was lovely, well cooked and portion size was great. Five of us all had roast pork and it was nothing like the picture on the other review. It was a lot more on the plate than that. Cauliflower, broccoli, carrots, peas, Yorkshire pud, roast potatoes and parsnips and crackling with personal jug of gravy each, apple sauce. Really well cooked enjoyable food for a fantastic price. As for pudding. I personally had the cheesecake with caramel sauce and it was lovely. To be told afterwards it was gluten free. It had so much taste I was surprised!! The service was great and the lady cooking was very nice to the extent of getting my granddaughter to sit nicely at the table with ice cream. Would definitely recommend a visit and will be coming the The Vine Tree again for food. Well done and thank you for a nice relaxed Sunday afternoon.

We had the function in the room upstairs. The space was large and very clean. They had set the tables up nicely, they provided a waiter to take drink orders and delivered them back up to the function room, which was brilliant. We all had roast dinner for mains which were great and loads of gravy. We had a choice of puds I had the Apple crumble with custard which was delicious.

My family and I stopped at the Vine Tree for a spot of lunch. The service was painfully slow and when the food finally arrived my husbands steak was rare, despite him ordering it well done. We sent it back and requested that it was cooked well done as originally asked for. The landlady stormed over and accused us of being difficult saying that my husband must have ordered it rare or the chef wouldn't have cooked it rare. She was so rude that it was very obvious that this was going to be far from an enjoyable meal and we got up and left. Tip to landlady, if you want to keep customers perhaps you should take a course in people skills.!

Impressed with the new outdoor area and the interior is improved. However the improvements seem to stop at the bar- the staff looked scruffy and I do not feel the land lady was suitably dressed for a family inviting establishment. I have to say I went with the family three years ago and it was worth it, now, probably the worst we have had anywhere in a while. My sisters meal arrived cold, I had pork roast, pork overdone , no crackling, Yorkshire pudding overdone but gooey on the bottom, carrots limp. Stater Calamari so overdone, with wine for two 75 pounds, so over rated not good please think twice, there are better places, so disappointing .

Visited for Kiefer Sutherland gig. Place was boiling hot on a not particularly hot summer's day. Little to no ventilation and no A/C. The side doors all around the audience were left closed. This seemed ridiculous given the temperature. Security staff were handing out free water to the audience when all they needed to do was open the side doors. Even Kiefer reminded the audience to drink water as a few of the audience had fainted! Luckily I had a portable fan so I was ok,but many weren't.
