Great Sunday afternoon with a roast meal & quiz.

Just a great place to drop into, really welcoming

My mum and I are staying a few days in nearby Wells and were recommended by our B&B hosts to try Burcott Inn. The food was fabulous! Excellent portion sizes (we both had burgers), delicious and reasonably priced. The raspberry cheesecake was also delicious. But my favourite part was Barry the resident boxer dog!

We have just had an excellent meal here, we are staying in a Burcott Cottage, and we would fully recommend both. We also got a new friend in Barry !!

The Sunday roast lunch is consistently really well cooked and so delicious. The beef as offered is rare and juicy, but they will provide more well- done slices just ask when ordering. The thyme roast chicken is my favourite but then so is the tasty roast pork with home made pork stuffing. The current seasonal veggies include red cabbage, roast carrots, broccoli with weeny bacon goujons plus optional cauliflower cheese.

This was an enjoyable evening for myself and my family! The presentation was incredible and fun. Every meal was delicious and not too pricey either! The staff were attentive and the service was speedy and with a great smile! Can’t wait to be back for date night. The funny pooch menu is something I’ve never seen before but I think it is incredible! Just a shame it was personally too cold to be outside, just means we would have to visit again!

We only stopped for a drink, friendly pub, especially the resident boxer dog who was really friendly and very cute. Will visit again.

Came here for fathers day, we were in the area and went to the first pub we found in the sticks. Managed to get some lunch even though we didn't book which was nice as it was an impromptu decision. Food was lovely and staff were great will definitely visit again! Was nice to meet barry 🙂

Wonderful country pub with superb roast dinner, welcoming landlord and landlady decent ale and good vibes. Daughter took me for father's day roast yesterday. She's 18 and enjoy a half od orchard pig cider! Chatty landlord from Lancashire (not Yorkshire), good sense of humor and serves a very decent pint of ale. Recommended and thankyou for a wonder few hours hospitality. Super Sunday.

Stopped here whilst on a bike ride with friends and our dogs....in trailers. Really great pub with lovely beer garden. Landlord was ultra friendly and even brought his dog in from the beer garden on request as our friends dog is reactive to other dogs. Good looked great. I would recommend this pub to all

We had a meal at this pub whilst visiting a friend near-by whose local it is. The pub was very busy when we arrived at 6 pm so booking in advance is highly recommended. There were 3 of us eating and we ordered the salmon steak in lemon & dill butter served with crushed new potatoes, asparagus and cherry tomatoes and 2 of the steak and ale pie served with creamy mash or chips with seasonal vegetables. The food was all home-cooked and delicious. 2 of us also had desserts - lemon cheesecake and Bakewell tart with ice cream. Both again were absolutely delicious. There were good vegetarian options on the menu too. A great pub with good food and lovely atmosphere with lots of locals and good staff. We will definitely come again. Kenny’s friends - Andy & Prim

Just had Sunday lunch- absolutely delicious- quality meat perfectly cooked veg super fresh- they offer choice of 2 size meals which is fabulous for the smaller appetites! Great value for money

We stayed for two nights in the great value & very comfortable cottages at the rear of the Inn. The Inn itself was great, the staff & the locals were very welcoming. Situated on the edge of Wookey just a few minutes drive from Wells it is ideally located for exploring the area. We enjoyed our stay & would highly recommend the Burcott Inn..

Called in as passing and were given a very warm welcome. Asked if they could accommodate 2 for Saturday night evening meal. They were not busy which was surprising given the lovely meal we had. We will definitely return as two delicious meals. Landlady said the chef makes everything homemade - it was really good and nice to have real chips as opposed to frozen mass produced. Waiting staff were friendly and efficient. Loved the linen napkins wrapping the cutlery and the light dining room with a rustic retro feel. We will return!

Would rate lower than a one star but not possible! Owner was rude, couldn’t even finish the meal definitely would not recommend. Won’t be going again

We visited for the first time today for Sunday lunch, I’m a lady in a wheelchair and we had a table with plenty of room, we had a warm welcome, the food was delicious and we will certainly visit again, thank you

Came Easter Sunday,as a family,celebrating Mum's 90th birthday,not a nice meal! The pork was two round slices,very fatty,the Chicken was a very small Thigh, 4 small carrot batons each and a small oval dish of sprouting broccoli between 5 of us, 4 small roast potatoes and a hard,hollow yorkshire pudding and 2 tiny pieces of parsnip,the meat and broccoli were hot,everything else,stone cold,admittedly we were asked several times if everything was alright,but none of us wanted to say anything,as my Mum had booked it and we didn't want to upset her and she was served a piece of salmon on request as meat is hard for her to eat,which looked much preferable to our roast dinners.

We stopped over night in the MH here after enjoying all Wells had to offer. We were given a warm welcome by the whole team and the food was amazing a great local pub enjoyed by visitors alike. Would highly recommend and only 2 miles (45mins walk) to the cathedral.

Excellent meal on our travels north from Dorset. All home made & home cooked. Very good value for money at around £15 per main dish. We will most definitely be returning here in the future.

Three of us dined here twice at Easter on a visit to Wells. Great old pub with a great atmosphere. Staff are excellent, friendly and attentive. The food was top notch and great value, with the absolute standouts the cheese soufflé and the steak and ale pie with mash (one of the best pies I think I’ve ever had).

Great wholesome, homecooked food with a warm welcome for visitors. We were late for the lunch service but they reopened the kitchen so my wife and I could still get some food. A real pleasure to visit the pub and experience the hospitality.

Cracking quality food at sensible prices.. Great outdoor seating area and lovely view of the valley.. Got to try the chilli mince cheesey chips... 💯💯

What an incredible find…. Whilst out walking our dog we stumbled upon this beautiful pub. Friendly welcome, wonderful selection of beers and wine & seriously the best Pork pies, Sausage Rolls & scotch egg we’ve ever tasted…. We didn’t have time to experience their menu but anticipate that it would be just as delicious 😋

We stayed overnight in our motorhome (Britstops) at this friendly pub. The landlady was kind enough to put her boxer in a back room so our timid Border Colllie could be with us in the bar. There was a pleasant ambience with plenty of locals and great staff. The food was delicious, we tucked into garlic mushrooms, scotch egg with soldiers, burger and pork fillet. Sadly I didn't have room to cram in a pudding! We look forward to returning when we are in the area again

A friendly local - with well cooked home Food - have lived in the village for years and never felt welcome at the burcott - but since John and Kate have taken over has become our whole groups go to place for drinks and food! Can’t fault the place - always good banter and a lovely atmosphere - so welcoming and always go above and beyond!!!

We went for a Burns Night supper with 25 locals. Obviously we had a set menu, but the haggis was great with a beautiful whisky sauce, and the traditional neeps & tatties were given an imaginative modern twist. For dessert we were given raspberries and cream with the most delicate homemade shortbread discs. The tables had been specially decorated, and the service was great. Very impressed.

White linen tablecloths and napkins. A lovely change from bare tables and paper napkins. I had pork and could eat the cracking, the meal was delicious.

I organised the Wells Community Shed Christmas Meal. The food was excellent. Most had the Turkey and a couple had the Salmon. Everything was fresh and delicious. The desserts were also delicious. The Christmas Pudding looked and smelt so appetising. The Roulade slice was thick and full of fruit and cream. I had the cheese board, which I really enjoyed and would recommend. I would recommend anyone to experience the delicious food. The staff were so friendly and generous. If we needed any further assistance they would come and just check to see what we required. Everyone seemed to have a good time and praised the experience.

Had a great Xmas lunch with a group. The food was great and the service was excellent !

We went as a group of 18 for a Christmas Supper, and were delighted with the food and service. I had smoked salmon on blinis to start, and the blinis were obviously homemade - light and fluffy and irregular-lovely! Then traditional main course which was all perfectly cooked : at first I though the size of the side dishes of veg etc were too small to feed us all, but there was quite a bit left over, so it had been well judged. Puddings were Christmas, Trifle or Roulade - I had the Christmas pud which was spot on, and I heard good reports from everyone of the other two. The staff were attentive throughout but not fussing - I get irritated in other places when you cant eat for people constantly asking how it is?!

Went with friends for a meal that was set price at £28 for 2 courses. The food took ages to arrive and was ok but tepid. Dessert was tiny......riukade that you could have read a book through. Cheeseboard slightly better. No bar service when team serving food. From what I could see if the kitchen itdudnotlookveryckean and the linoleum was lifted from the floor in many areas. A health and safety hazard. Staff pleasant . It was way way way too much money for a not particularly great meal. Would not go again. Not value for money.

The staff and locals at this pub were very friendly and have us information on the area Had Sunday lunch here which was excellent.

I didn’t actually eat (apart from crisps) but the food looked and smelt amazing. Everyone eating seemed satisfied. The pub itself is lovely. Staff very friendly and the beer good and fairly priced. Lovely pub dog too (please don’t feed Barry the boxer though) Look forward to going back for a meal next time.

Lovely friendly atmosphere by the fire. Dog friendly too and the owners and their friends are such nice people! We had a Sunday roast, which was Delicious and plentiful!

We booked here very last minute, and were not disappointed. Extremely friendly staff, made us feel very welcome. Drinks reasonably priced. Food excellent quality and very tasty. We will be back.

We recently spent 4 days in the adjoining country cottage, so it was only fair that we tried out the 'pub' next door. We booked a table (probably advisable) for 7pm Wednesday evening (i believe the restaurant is open Wed-Sun), we were given a friendly greeting in a busy pub. We were shown to our table after ordering our drinks (and can i say this was the best pint of Guinness i had had in a long while). The menu is simple with about 4 starters,6mains and a specials board. For Starters we had Mackerel Pate (served with salad and toast) for myself and Warm Goat's cheese and beetroot salad for my wife. Both were excellent. For mains my wife had Ham, egg and home cooked chips which she said were lovely, and myself a Chicken burger(on a homemade brioche bun) with homemade chips and coleslaw. All food was freshly made and tasty. We were full to eat desert but again there were 3 or 4 options available. Although the pub is not large by today's 'pub chains' the staff are welcoming/friendly and proffesional,checking several times that the food was good and we had everything we needed. I believe the people that run pub are new to the establishment and wish them well with the venture, I only wished this was my local. Thank you to all the staff.

Wonderful place great food it was worth getting lost to find it.

As a family we've eaten here several times now including the Sunday Roast. I can honestly say that the food being served at the Burcott is some of the best for miles around. It's a rare treat (no pun intended...) to find such lovingly prepared food all freshly made at the pub; from the starters to the deserts. The date sponge was amazing, I've had the best chips I've tasted anywhere and the Prawn cocktail frankly has raised the bar.

Check first if you want food as they don't serve every day

Celebration of a friends 80th birthday party. Sat outside in the shade, the owners put an excellent buffet. Enjoyed it, the friendly atmosphere was good, would have no hesitation going back, understand the Sunday lunches are good.

Nice setting with nice beer garden. Drinks were average price so was the food , talking about the food which I had the fish and chips with peas wasn't good . The peas were dry and shrivelled, the batter had eaten the fish , chips were OK!

We were on holiday & had just arrived to the area, they were very accomadating, despite us not having a prior booking. The food was excellent, cooked to our specification, the staff were very friendly & accommodating Well for to a superb team. Will definitely visit again during our stay. Well done to a brilliant team. Keep up the good work.

Nice little Traditional family friendly pub with a nice big garden. Didn't eat there so can't comment on the food but what I saw coming out did look good. Plenty of parking and wheelchair friendly. Probably go back and try the food at a later date.

When in and around Wookey this is a good spot to go for good, basic pub food and a good glass of wine.

Menu vastly inferior to online one just basic pub grub. Steak burnt on outside raw inside. Home made chips could not be bothered to cut the black bits out! A local will not return

We were looking for a nice freindly pub with food after a day in Cheddar Gorge on the way back to Wells. We also wanted a dog friendly pub where we could relax in the garden. The food is simple but not a large menu. However the food was extremely nice home cooked food rather than the microwave meals now found in a lot of pubs. Ham and Eggs with chips was one of our choices and the other was the Chicken breast burger and chips. Nice freindly hosts 10 /10

Staying in the area and this was the nearest pub so dropped in for a pint. Good welcome from the landlord when we came in. Equally good welcome from the pub dog who came and sat with us in the beer garden. Will definitely come back while we're here.

We stayed here in one of the cottages and it was lovely The owners are very welcoming and friendly The food was very good and the locals made you feel welcome I think the burcott has one of the best combinations of good food ,company ,good beer and good accommodation

So many pubs fall short of serving up a decent Sunday roast but you are not on that list. It was a really good authentic roast with plenty of veggies. The beef was lovely and rare, just how I like it, and the roast potatoes were light and fluffy. My compliments to the chef.....we'll definitely be back for more. Thank you!

We had a pleasant experience at an authentic Somerset pub.

Un pranzo inglese di domenica dove abbiamo avuto un misto per 2 molto abbondante, contorni vari al fine di febbraio. I come back with enthusiasm in July but I was very disappointed. I ordered hamburger and sirloin. Fries, if I never eat the leather, I suppose that was the taste and texture because if they say that the stuff is cooked at the time, the potatoes and onion seems was a leftover from lunch (or previous evening): never taste such sloppy potatoes. The sirloin was full with pepper but did not even have a grain of salt ( perhaps the cook exchanged salt for pepper..) The bland food and you must to ask for salt because they don't bring the salt to the table. I am an animal lover, but do not pet a dog and then serve a customer without washing your hands. Also a lot of confusion created by the way of speaking with a shouted voice of some persons.

We are so lucky to have this pub as our local. Excellent cider, food and staff. The beef burger is one of the best ones I’ve ever had. The pub has a lovely beer garden and a fantastic atmosphere.

Just had Sunday roast at the Burcott, it was absolutely outstanding…. The welcome was glorious, Barry (the pub dog) is very genial. The service was first class, the food was delicious and John and Kate are the most fabulous hosts….. We’ll be back, and soon....

Called while on a break down Somerset the landlord was very pleasant and the pub dog Barry is very friendly there was only bagets with chips on the menu but what we had was good the Landlord has only been there 2 weeks but he made everyone feel welcome.

This is a charming old pub full of character and recently under new management, the food was superb and the service excellent, I highly recommend the Burcott Inn to locals and visitors lived it.

The website should be taken down there is no food served there and the pub side is only open 6pm Tuesday until Friday and 12pm until 6pm Saturdays and Sundays not good.

Rang the owners out of the blue to ask if we could park our MH in carpark for the night. Expected to go through the motions of a pub meal and a couple of beers in exchange. Instead we found a delightful menu and specials...

Brilliant food and great service. Will definitely be returning. We had Burger sliders, tomahawk pork steak, lamb and duck. All very tasty and well presented. Compliments to the chef!! Staff are very friendly and welcoming.

Unfortunately the meal, which was only sandwiches and fries took well over an hour to arrive. When it did arrive it was missing some of the items in the description. Very disappointing. Lovely feature in the pub.

We visited the Burcott Inn for Sunday lunch. One of our party has alot of dietary requirements and the team and the Burcott Inn could not have been more helpful and accomodating. You are welcomed from the moment you walk in with excellent service and great food. The meat on the sharing board was all cooked to perfection with the perfect mix of seasonal veg to accompany it (the potatoes and gravy were particularly delicious) Well worth a visit and we will definately be visiting again.

Had 2 lovely lunches at The Burcott Inn, can’t recommend the food and drinks highly enough. The landlord is so welcoming and helpful and takes real pride in his establishment. Wish this was our local, we’d be there all the time. Will definitely be back...

I like the warm welcome, lovely food but needed steak knife for duck, but it was tasty and was generally good. Dog friendly area in the bar.

2019, yanks lost (Sat nav is fiction); tripped over the Burcott Inn. They welcomed us even though lunch service was ending. Food was good, fresh and correct! Staff so very friendly. Thank you!

Came across the Burcott Inn by chance and delighted we did. Very welcoming and friendly staff. We stayed for lunch and had the steak sandwich which came with chips and salad. What a treat, delicious bread, lots of filling and lovely fresh salad. Very generous portions for dessert too, we’re on holiday but will be visiting again before we head home.

FANTASTIC! Go, now! What great food, atmosphere and staff! I cannot fault anything. The food was so tasty, I didn't need to add salt. Go on a Sunday for the roast, that is the definition of delicious! The chicken was so juicy, the beef perfect, the pork had the right amount of crackling, loads of tasty varied veg. My first time here at the recommendation and treat of friends, definitely not my last time. What an amazing meal, best I've had in ages. I will be telling my friends to go there. Great lunch here today. The beer battered fish and chips were lovely, the homemade tartare sauce was the best I've tasted. Very friendly and efficient staff. Highly recommend.

Out of 6 of us, I only managed a few snaps of our food! It was just too delicious not to eat IMMEDIATELY!! Here’s what we had: - Duck leg and veg - Ploughman’s with fries - Scampi & chips - Bacon and brie sandwich...

Popped in here as we were driving home from an afternoon out, the waitress was very friendly and looked after us well, the food was outstanding and good portions too- the steak was cooked to perfection and the child’s macaroni cheese was the best we’ve ever tasted! well worth a visit!

Lovely roast dinner on a sharing board, enough for all 6 of us and dessert was reasonably priced. Staff were all lovely and accommodating, will definitely return.
