We stayed here after having to check out of our previously booked hotel late at night as it was so dirty and unkempt. So when we arrived at the Swan it really did feel like the height of luxury. The staff couldn't do enough to help us and nothing was too much trouble. The bed was huge and very comfortable. A good choice of alcohol at the bar and the breakfast was amazing!!!!

We have had 2 three course evening meals over our stay and all were presented nicely, cooked perfectly and very tasty indeed. The reception, bar, restaurant and housekeeping staff were all very friendly and very helpful. Thoroughly recommended.

I stayed here earlier in the year and decided to come back to visit some places I didn't get to see first time round. We had a lovely visit (room was super, not much of a view though). Staff are very pleasant, and the food in the restaurant is excellent. Areas for improvement - vary the restaurant menu! It was the same for the three nights; we would have liked to eaten there again but there was not much choice as it didn't change. There was some unpleasant blood staining on the wall and skirting board in the bathroom - I asked them three times to clean it but in the four days we were there, it did not get cleaned which was very disappointing as it gave me the heebie-jeebies. Shower head was very ineffective - needs to be cleaned for limescale as the water was only coming through on one side.

As all Hot Fuzz fans will know, this is where Sergeant Angel was supposed to be staying. Location is great with lovely drinks garden/terrace which has great views of the cathedral and we were lucky enough to enjoy a few glasses of wine in the afternoon sunshine. Breakfast was good quality and plenty of choice. Although we didn’t have a view of the cathedral from our bedroom, we did have a four poster bed which was a nice surprise.

I wasn't overly impressed with the evening meals. First night cold plates with areas of cold veg as if plated earlier and rest put on when ready. Dessert tart I was unable to get my fork through let alone eat the pastry although the filling was OK. The other days only problem was very Al dente veg which sometimes couldn't get fork into. Did improve by night 4.

Don't know, as I had a drink in the visitors' lounge. Lovely furnishings and good fire in very old hearth. Unusual view of Cathedral Green and a tower

Lovely location opposite Cathedral. All rooms well appointed and very clean. Service excellent from all staff.

Stayed here for 2 nights and dined in on one evening. Our room was comfortable with a 4-poster bed and full bathroom (shower over bath). We opted out of the breakfast which was pricy at £14.50 and we only wanted a light meal. Everywhere was clean, reception staff friendly and hotel quiet. Access to car park is a little tricky but this is well pointed out on the hotel website. We thought the bar prices a little high but that might just be the post-covid catch up. Covid precautions were very good.

We recently got married at the Swan Hotel and what an amazing day we had. From the warm welcome on arrival Mark Tobin and his team did us proud from start to finish. Nothing was too much trouble. Luckily we had the warmest October day in a long time which leant itself perfectly to the private bar and walled garden area. The ceremony room and Ivory Suite for the wedding breakfast were lovely. Many of our guests commented on how lovely the venue was. Plus you have the beautiful backdrop of Wells Cathedral and the Green which are perfect for photos. Our room had a 4 poster bed and was very spacious and comfortable. Whether you are thinking about marriage or just visiting Wells I would highly recommend the Swan Hotel.

Were only had drinks here, on a couple of occasions, the first visit was the best for early evening drinks on a terraced area overlooking the Cathedral and the Cathedral Green. The second time we sat inside by the window at the front in their cute little bar area, had a lunchtome snack. The waiter was the same each time we visited, think he was called Callum, efficient and friendly, thanks.

Well positioned for cathedral, shopping and Bishops Palace Pillows were cheap foam and not very comfortable but beds were OK Breakfast was an odd mix of Continental buffet and cooked to order - some items ran out later in the serving

My partner and I were incredibly impressed with our overnight stay at The Swan Hotel. Food was tasty, drinks were great and the decor had recently been updated and looks smashing. One small pointer is the seating in the bar – most of the seating is good but the window boxes aren't the right height for the table and could do with foot supports. We've been to a fair few places since lockdown has lifted and have noted the consistent rustiness of staff in bars/restaurants. This is NOT the case with The Swan where we were made very welcome and staff were friendly, professional and swift; particular shoutout to staff member Leeroy who went above and beyond to make the stay pleasant. With a lovely atmosphere, superb location and all the above, we will certainly be returning here – a place that gets my seal of approval.

Good service. Poor food. understandably reduced menu however pointed nothing on menu I would have chosen. Should have left but stayed -wine was excellent and service impeccable. Food was below average and pasta was bland. The cat even turned away from the fish - perhaps vegetarian! Could be so much better

Fabulous location. Nice coffee. Very disappointed as had to wait 1 hour for food. Eventually went inside and asked. Egg sandwich that finally arrived was made from reconstituted egg. Tasted revolting. Husband s ham and mustard sandwich was ok. Not enough staff for 'eat out to help out' scheme.

Couldn't fault this hotel and one of its biggest assets the staff, who were always happy to help and very friendly. Great location and courtyard area just across the road to have drinks and take in the view of the stunning cathedral.

Lovely room with 4 poster and separate lounge area. Very clean and comfortable 5*****. Breakfast Luke warm,disappointing quality and quantity, fruit ,cereals etc below average. Toast was stone cold. Someone had spilled their cereals in the middle of the floor staff made no effort to clean it up . Book a room but eat in the Crown opposite,

Stopped here for a cream tea as there is a lovely seating area across the road from the hotel that they run with a view across the Cathedral green to the beautiul west side of the Cathedral. However, we thought at £13.90 for one fruit scone each and a pot of tea it was a bit pricey. Enjoyed the view though.

A great sunny courtyard and garden just opposite the hotel front door with full service. Good happy staff going a great job.

Spent a sunny afternoon in this hotel's pleasant outside seating area with great views over Wells Cathedral. The food is reasonably priced and service good.

The Swan Hotel tiene una decoración deslumbrante en lo que es un edificio histórico con una gran vista de la Catedral. Con una preciosa zona de asientos al aire libre que va directamente a The Green. Estábamos ansiosos por una comida en el restaurante con amigos, que nos aseguraron que era de origen local y preparado a pedido, pero fue lamentablemente decepcionante. El cerdo estaba demasiado cocinado y el brownie de chocolate con helado de caramelo salado era extremadamente seco y ¡tenía en mente una cena escolar! Con un precio fijo de 25 para dos cursos, ¡no era lo que esperábamos!

Again 'Hot Fuzz was filmed here. Beautiful rooms and excellent service. Food good and a great range of wines.

regreso a este encantador hotel. Personal muy amable (y gatos!) Y rarezas anticuadas. La cama era muy cómoda y la ubicación es perfecta. Asistió a una función de almuerzo donde el servicio era bueno y la comida era normal (40 personas). El desayuno era adecuado, con algunas opciones. Estaría encantado de regresar cuando seamos los siguientes en Wells.

Even though we had booked to stay here for 3 nights on a DBB basis, after our first meal we found somewhere much better!

Molte volte le indicazioni di hotel e ristoranti indicano che si trovano vicino a.... in questo caso veramente questo hotel si trova di fronte alla bellissima cattedrale di Wells. In effetti la vedrete dall'ingresso e dal giardinetto.Location quindi perfetta.Cenato e fatto colazione al ristorante dell'hotel e contrariamente ad altre recensioni direi più che soddisfacente.Parcheggio: comodo all'interno del loro cortile.Consigliato!

Desde el menú del almuerzo en el bar pedimos: sándwich de salmón granario bloomer, queso bloomer blanco y sándwich chutney, chips caseros cortados en casa.Conseguimos: sándwich de salmón de pan de molde marrón barato, queso de pan blanco rebanado barato y bocadillo de chutney MANGO y chips de horno empapado.Cuando nos quejamos, a nadie le importó y nos negamos a pagar y nos fuimos.Es una pena ya que nos quedamos en el hotel unas cuantas veces en el pasado y realmente disfrutamos de la comida.

The quality of the ingredients were not what we expected for the price we were paying. I deliberately asked not to have the pepper sauce only to be served a steak covered in pepper. The waiter took it back but the chef said that was how he seasoned it. We then had to wait another 5-10 minutes for mine whilst my wife had finished her meal entirely. Not a good evening.

We were staying nearby for one night and popped into the bar to see if they had a menu. As they also had a lounge with a wood fire this seemed an ideal spot to have a meal and a drink then relax with our coffee before returning to our gloomy hotel! My salmon and noodles was delicious.

Best place to eat with lovely hot food and reasonably priced. Staff are excellent and very welcoming.

I have found it difficult to find a good spot for lunch in Wells - I'm often here in the city, bringing visitors to the UK and so far have only encountered sandwiches, paninis, quiches and bean casserole type offerings. So I thought I'd try the Swan in Wells as I'd seen a signboard outside on a previous visit. Firstly, I should make clear that we did not eat in the hotel's main restaurant (certainly the dinner menu on the website looks interesting) but in the bar (I'm not sure that the restaurant was open that day for lunch).
