A perfect location for the Bath and West showground and the Glastonbury area with free on-site parking.
Friendly and accommodating owners, great service and excellent food.
I had a lovely home-from-home room with a really comfortable bed.
I would definitely stay there again.

Normally we go to the cheddar shop, we were visiting wells so we thought we will visit the wells shop. The customer service was excellent from Edie she was very friendly and the food was outstanding. Will be coming back here again.

I needed some underwear to go under a special dress and wasn’t sure what I wanted. I approached a sales lady called Sonia who was amazingly helpful. She interrupted what she was doing and found online exactly what I needed and even ordered it for me.
Many thanks Sonia
I think due to a lack of organisation or just chaos in the pub it took over 1 hour 15 minutes for our food to arrive.
It was terrible weather and whether they were inundated with customers or had no booking system I do not know but we will not return. If we had better service we would have stayed for a desert and coffees so they lost out.
We were a group of 9 friends who once a month go out for a Sunday lunch, not always a roast but it is difficult to find a pub that dose anything else these days.
We booked for 12.30pm and there was a table with our name on it. We were all prompt and by the time we found out what the ordering system was and the choices it was about 12.45pm when we ordered, there was nothing written up anywhere with the choices available. I was told the available roasts were either beef, lamb, pork, chicken, turkey and nut roast. Also, I was told there was a normal size and a child size but if we asked, they could do a small size. We could see that the normal size was too big for most of us as the Yorkshire pudding served was the size of a plate with all roasts.
Someone went up to the bar to order the food for all 9 of us as there was no table service. We asked what was happening after waiting for 45 minutes to be told it would be another 15 minutes. Well, it arrived at exactly 2.00pm after waiting 1 hour 15 minutes.
We did not get what we ordered as we were one beef short and were then told there was no turkey as they only serve it in December, although they took the order, and so they brought a pork for that person. We then had to ask for the sauces like mint, horseradish and apple which they had not provided and there were no spoons to serve them with when they arrived.
So, the food finally arrived and it was quite good quality although cold except for two people’s plates who had hot roast potatoes but they were hard as not properly cooked.
What a shame the service let down the whole meal although there seemed to be enough staff to cope. We were sat right next to the kitchen exit and the servers were coming out with one item at a time.
I wondered if the kitchen was small making it difficult to deal with the rush but when I looked in caught a female cutting a very large Yorkshire pudding in half with scissors in her hands.
When I arrived at the front door of the pub, I noticed how dirty the white door was and thought to myself is this a sign for the lunch to come. I should have walked straight back out.

Lovely sunny spot for people watching. Shame about the miserable woman serving behind the till. Must be the owner as no one would employ her with that glass half empty approach. Smile we are paying your wages!.
Nice Sunday lunch but very limited dessert choice, the only dessert available was cherry Eaton mess or ice cream everything else had run out. I liked the sound of cherry Eaton mess which I ordered but when it was delivered it was strawberry, no sign of cherries so I sent it back. Main course was nice though.

Truly the worst chips I’ve ever had from a chip shop. Inedible. Barely warm, old-tasting and 100% were reheated, maybe more than once . Will not be returning unless it has different owners, will be going to Knight’s from now on. Young chap serving was nice though
Although the duck and bean is a bit hard to find, once you do it’s a treat! The atmosphere is really cozy and the food is great! There is a variety of things on the menu, I had the salt beef sandwich and it was amazing. Also the staff are attentive and lovely! I will definitely be back :))
Couldn’t have asked for a better experience, truly amazing food at a very reasonable price, without a shadow of a doubt the best meal out I’ve had in years. Staff were delightful and the chef deserves his own restaurant. Will definitely be returning….. very soon.
My wife and I both have Shepton connections but had never been to the cafe before. Having g recently retired, we called in for a toasty and a sandwich. The food selection is brilliant, prices really reasonable (no £8 sandwiches here), and the staff really friendly. Sadly, the cafe is up for sale but we really hope to get the chance to return before it closes or goes upmarket.
We had a super meal last night the four of us were impressed with how delicious our different dishes were very fresh and well cooked . The landlady and Landlord were very welcoming and the staff charming . I highly recommended a visit, I’ll certainly be returning soon.
