Prestleigh Inn in Mendip

A perfect location for the Bath and West showground and the Glastonbury area with free on-site parking. Friendly and accommodating owners, great service and excellent food. I had a lovely home-from-home room with a really comfortable bed. I would definitely stay there again.

Absolutely unique place :) With soul. Smelling of cleanliness, coziness and very good cuisine. New owners very cordial and helpful - thanks to Kasia this stay in England is one of the best. The area is charming and definitely worth a visit. Next accommodations already booked :)

Guesthouse very clean and cozy, delicious food. Location easy to find. Beautiful view from behind the guesthouse. Very nice smiling staff. I ate the best English breakfast here. Very good price. I will definitely go back there.

Quiet place with cozy rooms, plenty of parking and a fantastic host. Had brilliant fish and chips in the evening and great full English breakfast in the morning. 100% would recommend it to everybody.

Had stoped for breakfast as we passed going to Bristol Classic Motorbike Show. The landlady was very friendly and welcoming.The breakfast was very good and fresh sausages were extremely nice. Would recommend to anyone to make a stop you won’t be disappointed ! 👌😀

I had a wonderful stay at the newly renovated Prestleigh Inn. The owner was warm-hearted and provided excellent care throughout my visit. I enjoyed the cozy, peaceful room and absolutely loved the delicious English breakfast.

I called in for a quick breakfast yesterday and what a lovely experience to have such a friendly greeting and welcoming atmosphere. I particularly liked the coffee. Will be going back . I think the new people will make a real go of it. Def. Worth a visit for breakfast

Called into this pub for breakfast on the way to the Shepton mallet flea market and so glad we did. Amazing breakfast and fresh orange juice and friendly service. What a gem.

Lovely host, make sure we was well look after and had everything we needed. The room was spacious and the beds was comfy. Had breakfast in the morning and it was very tasty. Would defo recommend!

Wonderful stay in the newly renovated Prestleigh Inn. The owner is warm-hearted and taking good care of all the customers. We enjoyed a lot the cosy and peaceful room and the neighbourood with our dog. We also enjoyed the english breakfast so much that we took it twice! We will definitely come back for the fish and chips soon!

Awful. Not clean, the place is tired and worn out,.the staff though polite are unable to help with anything. The rooms are small and most do not have a bathroom/toilet in room,.you will have to share the grimey dirty toilets. The building is not secured, you will have to rely on your room lock.

This needs some work, tired and run down, damp smell in corridors, no longer serves food including any breakfasts. The recommendation for breakfast was to say "go to Shepton Mallet there are places there". The bathroom in the room was ok but only giving 1 sachet of coffee and 1 mug in a double room with two people is just being tight. The floor didn't look as if it had been vacuumed. The photo is from the room window showing drums of old cooking oil and dumped rubbish which looked as if it had been there for a while. Needless to say I would not recommend this place until it has been overhauled.

No hot water, cleaning is minimal and you can see where dirt has built up. We only needed somewhere to sleep for the night, but anything more than that I would not recommend

This hotel we booked through Bookings.com and it should be shut down! Holes in the ceiling , damp in the bedroom and mould in the bathroom Ensuite was pathetic and the shower didn’t work ! We left and requested a full refund but bookings.com have only offered a partial refund

Dreadful! Was told Debbie would cook evening meal arrived and she said no food !! Great start ! Room well all I can say is I wouldn’t let my dog sleep in it ! The bathroom is so small you have to step into it backwards to be able to sit on the toilet ! Outside all the seats are broken so you can’t sit outside the bar has a hole in the ceiling the floor is dirty overall the whole place needs pulling down and rebuilding!! Don’t book !

"Get what you pay for".... Wouldnt pay more then £30 for this room. Very overpriced for what it was. Had better for cheaper. The room stunk of damp, shower was filthy, holes in the roof, windows were shut yet the draft coming through was crazy, stained mattress, had 6 things on the menu, but only 2 available. We decided against eating there had a pint and looked for somewhere else to stay, luckily stumbled across the Highwayman so we didn’t have to stop a night here, the locals in the pub looked like the type of people who were banned from every other pub in the area. Would not recommend this to my worst enemy, shame we won’t get our money back either, I believe conditions in Iraq would be better. It’s a real shame because the location just outside Bath and West Showground is why we chose here as we were over 4 hours from home. If this is the only choice you have available, just rough it and spend a night on the streets🤣

Disgusting place the Room was awful Arrived 6pm Dangerous bedroom 5 couldnt open door we had to keep pulling real hard to get out ...very dangerous fire hazard We were told bedroom was cold as its at the end of the building it was very cold & damp damp was by headboard We were told electrics were temperamental TV & kettle socket ..very dangerous Back door leading to outside is open day & night as it won't close due to damp We had paid but couldn't stay too dangerous Went 12 miles away, Hunters Lodge Inn Safe clean warm & cosy and for same money included amazing breakfast each Also does Saturday night carvery £13.50 Avoid the prestleigh Inn Thinking of eating there every thing was ( & chips) Yukky place

Great location for the show ground . Service from Gem & liv was fantastic. Would’ve loved to have given 5 stars but the pub was very cold . Free stopover for Campervan if eating in the pub .

This inn offers a warm place to stay and easy access. The rooms are moderately supplied and offer a good bed for the night. Most of the scathing reviews I think didn’t actually read about this place before booking it. It’s absoloutly fine as a bed for the night but it’s not a chain hotel. I can’t comment on food as I ate elsewhere.

Like an episode of Twin Peaks ! Humour was fast heavy and hard and I felt at home immediately despite a couple of short term problems. They definitely are people people and do whatever to make you happy. The owner is nuttier than rat poo in a pistachio factory but I love her 😜

Jo and Ray are fabulous hosts and genuinely lovely people! A great atmosphere and really homely feel to the place. The restaurant looked stunning and you can see their hard work on transforming the place has paid off! I only popped in for a quick drink, but the hospitality and service was fabulous, thank you both so much for taking such good care of me!

Our first visit to the Prestleigh since we heard it was under new management. We decided to try it as a last minute decision and what a lovely afternoon we had. The food was absolutely on point, the restaurant vibrant but most important was the welcome we had from our hosts. Ray and jo are some of the friendliest people you could meet and so easy to get on with. The effort they put into making our dining experience was gratefully received and we would highly recommend you pay them a visit. Thankyou guys....the hard work you have obviously put in deserves this review. Look forward to seeing you guys again soon. 10/10

We met family and went for a meal here. I can't give the rooms a review because we didn't stay here. The food was very good and there was a variety of food to choose from. The chef came out and asked if all was OK with our meals. All staff were polite and friendly.

Food and customer service was rubbish with rude staff and cold food. Wasn’t very clean and decor is something out of the dark ages.

7 of us had Sunday Lunch and it was delicious, service was great as well, we really enjoyed it and will be back. Fully recommended

I only ate here and it was delicious! Accommodating staff and interesting food. I think it mustve changed hands or chef as nothing like the website which put me off eating! But when i arrived there was a very inspired menu. The food was as good as the menu - not just fancy buzz words.

Not much to choose from on the menu and my friends were still hungry after they had finished

Had a lovely meal here. The homemade chicken kiev and vegetable lasagne were both very tasty. Recently been taken over so working progress, but they're doing a great job. All very friendly, staff and locals. Dogs are made very welcome too. Close to Shepton Mallet showground for the Sunday flea market.

This is a welcoming pub with local support, letting rooms, especially for the adjacent Royal Bath and West showground and for food. The pub car park has plenty of spaces with a grassed area giving views across the showground to the hills in the distance. There is a choice of reasonably priced good quality food available for eating in the bar or dining room. The pub is dog friendly and has a wood burning stove in the bar area that includes a pool table.

Very very much appreciated welcoming, Doggy Dog welcoming, friendly people, Definitely coming back. Ohh and food is good and tasty. Recommended for dog lovers ❤ 👌🏽

We stayed for a few nights from Friday to Sunday. We arrived late on the Friday, had a drink at the bar and went up to bed. Breakfast in the morning was fantastic and was served at a time that suited us. I personally found the bed comfortable but I know others in our party of 9 didn't. The showers are electric and not the most powerful however we did manage ok. The biggest issue was no hot water as the boiler was not working, this was only explained to us the morning after and I feel we would have benefitted had we been told before going up to our rooms. Overall, a nice stay, thank you Chloe.

Stopped in on the off chance for Sunday lunch and we very pleasantly surprised. A very nice carvery really enjoyed it and excellent value. Friendly staff and a nice pub, obviously can't rate rooms as we weren't staying a new pub on place to call in

never again, this was by far the worst room we have ever been offered, the smell of damp was very strong, the beds were extremely worn the bases were stained and the mattresses were lumpy with what I can only assume were broken springs, as for the bathroom the silicone around the shower was mouldy and discoloured, the shower hose had limescale on it and was black, these are normally silver in colour, it's a shame that you have to pay in advance these days which nine times out of ten is nonrefundable, if you could view first we would never of payed the £65 . I would just like to add that chloe was very friendly and the location was good but that is about as good as it gets

We parked our campervan overnight in the pub carpark prior to visiting the Bath and South West showground ( 10 mons walk away) Had a great meal of fish and chips,Inc a pint. Really friendly and lively atmosphere. Well done the Prestleigh Inn...we will return !

Excellent food and service, very dog friendly. Field next door for dog exercise. Run by an enthusiastic young couple who have recently taken over. Rooms are comfortable but some on going refurbishment is helping to upgrade the facilities.

The owners here were really lovely and looked after us incredibly well. The food was amazing and the two of them do it all themselves. They had great vegetarian options as well!! The cooked breakfast was particularly great and their rooms were quite spacious and comfy.

Food was excellent. They let themselves down badly in other ways. No red or white wine, no custard for the dessert and no coffee. Given it was May bank holiday Sunday it was to say the least surprising. Good enough pub but lacked organisation clearly. Pity.

We stayed here before a visit to the Bath and West showground. Perfect, close location. Really good food and wonderful service from the couple who have recently taken over.

Found this hotel while looking for somewhere to stay near Vobster. This is an excellent small hotel over the pub. I had a lovely oldy worldy double room.very comfy bed. Had to leave before breakfast and the owners offered for me to take some cereal and uht milk with me so I could eat before I left. Great service! Really friendly staff and a great find.

Lovely old Inn. It is under new management with a young couple in charge. The food is very good, we both had curries which were very tasty.

Rude staff. Dirty glasses. You have to purchase a drink before you can play pool? Never heard of that before. We're paying for Pool in the first place? Wouldn't even let us have one drink to share; we had to purchase two? Amazed. Never had any of this elsewhere. I wouldn't recommend unfortunately.

Musty and dirty room. Bedding was stained and sink didn’t drain. Initially warm but much colder in the morning and the only way to heat seemed to be through a grubby heater that looks like a health risk.

The very best hosts you can get. Second time staying there and equally as good as the first. Hope to return again soon. Thank you Debbie and Gary xx

Just what was needed, had a wedding to attend locally. . . GREAT value for money. . Debbie & Gary couldn't be more acommodating. . Comfortable beds, shower good. . We will be back.

This one is a hard one to review. Pub I had intended to visit was booked up, so entered 'pubs near me' in Google and Prestleigh Inn came up with reviews better than most. I guess the issue was I had an image in my mind of Country Inn with horse brasses, pictures of hunting scenes, big oak bar with obscure whiskeys and weird gins. Car park was fairly full when we arrived, which I took as a good sign. We entered the front door and first entered a bare looking room with a pool table, a room for the locals I thought and went to seek the dining room/lounge. We found another bare-walled room with tables and chairs in darkness. Before we could turn on our heels, the light came on and a woman approached asking if we wanted drinks. She sprayed the table we were to sit at and took our order. The drinks arrived, were corrected for what we ordered and we were handed the menu. The woman said she would change and took the laundry away. She reappeared a few minutes later in chefs' whites and took our order. Dining room started to fill up a little. I pity the Vegan visitor, but there was steak with all the trimmings which my wife and I chose. It arrived fairly quickly and to be honest couldn't be faulted. At £12.95, I've paid twice as much for no better. The staff were very friendly and the hand pumped beer was good too. Good value if not living up to my expectation.

The hosts were so helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and accommodated our every request. Breakfast was delicious, evening meals were the same. Absolute perfect location for us to go to the motor home show in the showground just down the road. Lovely scenic views from the beer garden.

Had an overnight stay here while visiting the truckfest,, brilliant location and host couldn't do enough,, worth a visit, and we recommend definitely,, hope to return soon 👍
