Room was one of the best we’ve stayed in (Room 4) - really nice interiors, simplistic but full of character. Food is of course going to be good with the ownership. Really talented chefs, and cooking with top ingredients. Loved the vibe - cosy pub, simple menus that change daily, snacks, homemade cookies. It was really fun and we will be back. The playground in front of the pub needs beefing up if you have toddlers or young children as it was perfect for us! And the walk to Westcombe - loved it.

Travelled around 60 miles due to recommendation and was looking forward to a lovely Sunday roast. The roasts don't come with much more than just the meat and the person serving didn't think to tell me when ordering. Far too expensive and just a general poor quality of food and service. Would not recommend.

Food was very nice - took a while to come out but seemed freshly made and was tasty. Service was quite slow though- both to order but also in the dining room several tables had dishes they were done with left for quite a while. Main point of feedback is more about handling other guests- I was there on a Saturday night between about 7:45pm and 9pm. In the bar area as I walked in there was a table w two children playing a video out loud (and very loud not quietly) at the table… surely this is not considered acceptable in a nice pub? And secondly there was a toddler in the main dining room who kept crying. Obviously some noise is understandable but towards the end it was pretty incessant.. and I felt for the child too as he was probably exhausted with it being close to 9pm. It’s not a super casual pub either, it’s quite pricey for dinner. Surely the staff can say something about guests’ behaviour at a certain point when it starts to impact everyone else…

We had the loveliest dinner and stay here, wonderful in so many ways. The dinner was absolutely delicious and atmosphere with live music was magical. Our stay was super comfortable—one of the comfiest beds I’ve experienced in a hotel. Breakfast was perhaps my favorite part. Simple unassuming menu that was just brilliantly executed into perhaps the tastiest I’ve had in England so far! The little hike/walk they recommend in the hotel guide was beautiful and quaint. Full of sweet little moments and hidden beauty.

We went on bank holiday Sunday for dinner after the local fete so was a busy pub with a good atmosphere. Really stylish and comfortable interior in the bar area and restaurant. The food at this pub was fantastic, full of flavour and good portion sizes. The location is beautiful, inside and out. Unfortunately the service lets down this gorgeous gastro pub. We were not offered anymore drinks all night, didn’t get offered a desert menu and they were more interested in serving the bigger DFL tables. We had every intention to order more drinks and try one of their delicious desserts, which ultimately would have led to us spending more money than we had. However for some reason the staff decided that we were not worthy enough for the attention that they gave the larger bookings. Disappointing as a local customer who could have become a regular.

A meal of two halves. Picture book interior and possibly the most beautifully planted pub garden in Britain. Interesting drinks list and the starters were superb. First rate mussels cooked to perfection, and a salt kid broth which was sweet and salty and pure heaven. And then the mains arrived and everything changed. My pork chop was so tough it was inedible. My partner's pie was dry, so dry you questioned if a commis had messed up when making the gravy and was trying to pretend everything was fine. We sent back the pork chop and the chef came out and was very gracious (my partner didn't want to tell them about the pie). They took it off the bill and offered a replacement, but the menu is short and there wasn't anything else I fancied, and we were against the clock as the food had already taken a little while to come out. I would have expected a drink to be comped too given lunch was ruined.

Should be so much better. Now revisited 3 times and so much better. The food and service now reflects the beautiful refurbishment. So pleased as we now have a great local pub! 5 visits since it reopened; 1st review, as I hoped it would improve. Beautiful refurbishment, garden lovely, definitely 5 star. Unfortunately it's not run to the same standard. You rarely feel welcome. Bar offering poor, no premium lager, no sauvignon blanc, (or anything similar,) no local refreshing cider. Food very hit and miss, menu looks good, but 50% of the food served is bland, not very warm and frankly disappointing. To me a major problem is the 12.5% service charge. I'm an adult, I can make up my own mind as to tip or not. On a recent visit, I went to the bar to ordered drinks, put them on our table, ordered food at the bar, paid at the bar (bill was completly wrong), so the only service was the delivery of our food from the kitchen, for which I was expected to pay 12.5% service, really??!! I want to love this pub, as it local to us and a good pub is desperately needed, but I can't, and won't return until I hear better reviews.

Wonderful situated Restaurant with hotel. Nice but pricey. We didn' book a hotel room, so we cannot rate that. We didn't reserved a table for Dinner as it was during the week. We were given a table near the bar. Some meals were sold out, so that the Menu was much smaller. The meals were good, for the taste and quality not value for money. Service to slow. Alltogether there is more room for improvement.

After 3 perfect lunches at The Three Horseshoes, my partner and I booked in to stay a night AND have dinner. We were greeted by a young female member of staff with the most radiant smile and then taken up to our room by the perpetually charming male front of house (sorry we didn't catch either of your names). We stayed in Room 2 (of 5), which is enormous and has an even more enormous bathroom. The room is gorgeously thought out design-wise and every second spent in it was a treat. Whether appreciating the rugs, the bed's unbelievable mattress, the carefully selected artworks, the sleepy Somerset views out the windows or the magnificent exposed beam overhead, the attention to detail (apparently credit to owner Max Wigram and local interior designer Frances Penn) is second to none. We enjoyed a long looping walk around tiny Batcombe and its borders in some rare June sunshine, before heading for a cider in the pub garden and then inside for dinner which was an expected joy as per prior lunches, Margot Henderson's chef magic oversight vibrating across every single delicious dish that was served to us by the always lovely restaurant staff. Breakfast the next morning lived up to expectations too and local crusty sourdough toast came out with perfect butter and strawberry jam and coffee, followed by eggs and bacon and tomatoes. It's rare to find a place in the English countryside - let alone a pub - that is this brilliant in every single way: gorgeous location, grounds, bar, dining area, guest rooms, food and staff. So good in fact, we did a u-turn at midday heading back to London and drove back to The Three Horseshoes for a final snack lunch in the bar where even a request for ketchup to go with our Westcombe cheddar toasties led to a bespoke Catalan inspired sauce being brought to our table.

The lamb chops were cooked perfectly, pink, rendered fat, ample portion, with the most delicious anchovy sauce. My wife’s pollock was also cooked very well, with capers, butter, and tender green lentils. You could tell everything on the plate was there for a reason and was cooked with care. Had a drink and snacks during a circular walk from Bruton to Batcombe in summer '23. Dined in the evening in Autumn '23 with some friends. Food was 'nice' definitely tasty and fairly priced. The staff were a bit mixed. Slightly abrupt Maitre d' paired with a very bashful waitress, which was a tad annoying as she wouldn't speak up, Saturday service in a very loud restaurant is no place for your clandestine voice. Somewhat irksome when you bang on an extra 12.5% for want of a hearing trumpet. Worth a visit for sure, would dine again in the fullness of time.

The food is excellent however service is a bit chaotic. Some of the serving team seemed to struggle with getting food out to the tables and we got our mains but waited some time for our sides and had to prompt them a few times. One of the team did resolve it for us and took off the cost for the sides which was very kind so we appreciated the gesture. Need to work on their service (and the passive aggression from one or two of the serving team) and the parking. People parked leaving generous spaces between each car which meant the car park filled up quickly and there aren’t many alternatives close by.

I work as a chef and was excited to go to this restaurant that is supposed to create great dishes. However, the fish soup starter was inedible, it tasted of brown crab meat mixed with malt vinegar with a lump of mustardy mayo on top, not like any fish soup I have tasted before - it was gross. The pork was recommend by the waiter as they had sold out of beef, it was simply rolled pork fat, un-rendered and gristly, this came with cold mashed swede and fried onions swimming in oil - no sauce and a totally unbalanced dish. I asked for some sauce or gravy but they had nothing so I ended up with ketchup! They offered free desserts when I complained which I ate but this is an expensive restaurant and the only part of my meal that was edible was the dessert. I will not be going again. Also the waiter said they had overheard our conversation about my daughters college course, then he proceeded to say to my daughter that he thought the course she was doing was a waste of time. I do not ever want a waiter to interrupt my conversation with my daughter and then undermine my daughter and her choices - absolutely unacceptable. I do not recommend this place at all.

A very mixed meal at the Three Horseshoes. My partner, who eats meat, enjoyed his meal, but my vegetarian meal was, quite honestly, disgusting. A chard and mushroom pasta dish with soggy pasta and a very bland sauce. It was inedible. I appreciate the pub leans more towards meat eaters but it should be able to cook a decent vegetarian option. The most disappointing thing was, having barely touched it, I told the waitress that it was not nice and there was no mention of taking it off the bill. Found the acoustics in the restaurant weren’t great either and the room rather cold. (This review dates back to 14 Oct, I just hadn’t got round to doing it until now.)

What a lovely place, we came for lunch and then spontaneously decided to stay for a night. The staff couldn’t have been nicer or more accommodating, and everything was just perfect. The food was delicious, we had lunch in the restaurant, the fish soup was an example of classic cookery done really well, my bacon chop was cooked beautifully with a lovely accompaniment of sauerkraut and prunes, and my husband had the rilettes with pickles, a really generous portion for the starter, and a delicious piece of lamb for main. In the evening we came down for a drink and a game of scrabble, and then ended up having our whole meal in the pub section of the hotel room, which was cozy next to the log burner. Again, delicious starters and we shared the main course, a game pie, which was a good amount for both of us after a large lunch. We both had puddings - the pavlova was HUGE, and delicious. The room was so comfortable and beautifully furnished, a huge bath and shower both with great hot water and water pressure, just a such a lovely way to have a real treat and a relaxing break. Oh and the complimentary biscuits in the room are so delicious, we took a second bag for the journey home.

The setting is lovely, but the food is over rated and not worth the high price tag, while the waiter seemed overly busy and made some basic mistakes. My duck was dry and too salty and my partner's chicken pie was also dry. I asked if the duck came with potatoes and was told no, I'd need to order some, then when it came with potatoes, the waiter wasn't very apologetic and just admitted he didn't know the dish. Our desserts came without spoons and when we asked for some, the response was "you want more cutlery?", as if we were asking for something out of the ordinary. Even then the spoons that came were one short and we were made to feel that we were putting them out by wanting one per person. Over all, we did not think that the meal and service level were worth what was charged and we won't be back.

I was really disappointed with this pub after hearing great things. We as a large group booked well in advance and they couldn't really accommodate us space wise inside as originally planned. We were put outside and when they did manage to move us inside we were on two small tables across the front of the bar. They also asked us to arrive half an hour later than planned which in itself was ok but then they didn't have some the things on the menu for us to order as they had run out. The children's options were limited (one child had bread for lunch) and they wouldn't even offer a small roast dinner for the children which is a basic request. It had to be cut in half by us and shared between two plates. The roast dinner had by 4 of us was £25 each for a lump of chewy, stringy beef, a Yorkshire pudding (fine) and two carrots. We had to order roast potatoes (dry) and veg (tough cabbage) in addition at £5 each dish making it a very expensive and sub par meal. Only the person who had the pie was happy. It really was very disappointing, they had clearly overbooked the restaurant hence not fitting us in, and the food was overpriced and poor quality. Not a place I'd recommend.

This is a place that we were keen to eat at. A long and highly anticipated wait for its opening and a lot of hype about how amazing it was going to be. So, we had lunch today, 4 of us. The restaurant itself is clean and minimal, could do with some soft furnishing and plants but that’s just my opinion. The food though was honestly awful. It was only myself that complained but none of our party enjoyed their food, except my husband, his pie he said was delicious. I had a veal schnitzel, the meat was undercooked, bloody, and gristly and the crumb coating was soggy. The menu said it had a roasted onion but all I got was the outer shell of an onion that was impossible to cut and not roasted. The menu said green beans but what I got was cold green beans coated in a sauce. I ordered a side of fries, surely these would be good. Sadly not. Not crispy as you’d expect from this supposed amazing new restaurant. I know I sound horribly harsh but going out to eat is, for everyone’s pockets, a treat that needs to deliver. This was more than under par. Will we go again….. sadly not.

Lovely place for the setting, interior is lovely. Atmosphere was dreadful. Service however, was odd. Upon arrival, we said we had a booking which we were 5 minutes early for and gave the name and then the person checked and said ok, then left. Quite a few members of staff came and went, looking at us but quickly looking away and busying themselves as if not to call attention to themselves. I tried to grab someone's attention but when they went to "ask someone" never returned. We sat opposite the door, unsure of what else to do but wait. They seemed to be having a pre-service meeting but again we were just left to notice this ourselves after I leaned around the corner to see if anyone was around. The locals seemed quite judgemental of our being their with snooty eye rolls and laughs aimed in our direction, staring at us a lot. Not sure if they intended for us to hear them critising us but it was not pleasant when we just wanted to come enjoy a meal out. 10 minutes later we were told to follow a gentlemen to the dining area who then didn't say anything but went to the till. I asked if we find a seat or if that is pre-arranged and was told quite abruptly he was checking out seating. We were shown to our table, 10 minutes later placed our drinks order with our food later. A table sat after us and got their drinks before us. I couldn't get anyone's attention to change my drink as I selected the wrong wine by mistake, but it arrived eventually and I felt too awkward to send it back once poured for me. The starter of tomato salad was bland, no seasoning and with raw onions scattered on top. The beef pie served alone was tasteless with chewy pastry and oily insides, not actual gravy or substance. The meat was tender thankfully but no flavour. Chips were incredibly salty. No balance to anything offered. My partner seemed to enjoy his food but when I spoke to him at home said he was embarrassed to say it was not enjoyable as the table behind seemed to know the owners personally allegedly. They were very loud about their connections. We ordered the nemesis cake as a safe option for dessert, I made this a lot at work (I am a chef who has worked in high end restaurants and more humble establishments where this has been an offering) so I expected they couldn't really mess up chocolate cake. I asked if their was an alternative to crème fraiche as I seem to have a reaction to it, and was told yes only to have them first not bring me anything, then bring me more crème fraiche. I just left it to the side of the table. I would have understood if there was no alternative and gone without but I found it rude that the kitchen just sent more "house crème fraiche" after first ignoring the request. a "sorry, there is no alternative" would have been quite acceptable. Also the table was so wobbly just setting my hand down almost sent my wine and food flying. I don't understand why people can't just set table straight or brace them. Incredibly expensive and a poor experience. Very disappointed after my great eating experiences at other Henderson eateries. I will not be returning.

To say the food was disappointing is generous. Such a shame but the hype does not match reality. My starter was bitter and tasted off (fish soup) inedible as was my main course (pie hard as nails overcooked pastry watery filling not at all tasty) new potatoes were good, my sons ate mine but they didn't want to see waste or complain. Did not do dessert. We love eating great food in Somerset and regularly go to Osip, Roth Bar, The Ethicurean, The Newt, Holm, Barrington Boar and 28 Market Place when it was open and this is so disappointing after having higher expectations. Location is lovely. It's previous incarnation was much better with local produce well cooked. Can't say the same now. Needs better staff training some quality controls in place.

Mixed bag here. GOOD STUFF: Puddings to die for! Big, delicious, unrivalled, fair price. Beautiful setting inside and out. OTHER STUFF: Mains phenomenally overpriced for what you get... I had lamb, which was incredibly tough, with a huge helping of very bitter and unpleasant aioli (which I normally love) on the side. Tasted like it had been made with virgin olive oil and wasn't great. 5 pounds each for a bowl of new potatoes and half a cabbage that were tasteless, colourless, unseasoned and undercooked (yes I do like potatoes and pasta with some bite, but someone in the kitchen definitely got this one wrong). 5 quid for cabbage cut in half seems steep even in post COVID times. We ate because we were starving, and when our waitress came to ask us how everything was when we paid, we explained about the potatoes and she did briefly apologise, but nothing else. Feels like a very trendy, nice place to be seen and hang out, but really the cooking and eating is sadly under par. You'll find more appetising dinners for a tenth of the price in Tooting market, or any proper farm/ country pub. We didn't realise it was a renovated "gastropub" when we booked, I don't mind paying the prices if the food is worth it. Since found out that hard potatoes are a regular thing here, and that any customer disgruntlement is met with a 'don't come back' attitude, which is a shame. 'Aesthetic' white potatoes are no match for a buttery bowl of joy and a tender piece of meat.

Beautiful pub, great atmosphere, good service. The only downside was the lack of options for dairy free/vegan food. It would have been good to have a couple of options as three members of our party are dairy free (due to allergies). Hopefully they will incorporate this with time. Other than that lovely pub/restaurant for a drink and some bar snacks.

The food was absolutely fantastic, we all ended up having three courses because it was all just so delicious. The setting is beautiful too.with the church behind. The garden is lovely and we had a drink there before our meal. We will definitely be going back soon. It was busy, so if you would like to go, you need to book in advance. There is only one vegetarian option for each course and no vegan options.

First time visit - Lovely food especially the fish soup which was divine. The service however was well below par. We booked for 6pm on a weekday and was seated in the bar area opposite the toilets. However, on arrival the on duty Barman was busily drying up cutlery and didn’t even look up to acknowledge us when we asked about our table and booking. He looked miserable. We both noticed the lack of greeting. It was a pleasant day so we decided to change our table and asked to be sat in the garden to eat. The bar manager advised that the weather was very unpredictable and he would rather not sit us outside then ask to come in only to disappoint us if we were unable to be placed inside again if it started to rain. The place was empty!! Poor excuse but it seemed the real reason for this were staff shortages that day. His attitude wasn’t welcoming or warming and for that reason, I wouldn’t return. The two girls at the bar were lovely and seemed embarrassed by the incident. Great food but my advice would be to ditch the barman or train him up to be more welcoming. He spoilt the atmosphere for me

Had an incredible stay the other weekend. The rooms and restaurant are beautiful but the front room around the bar still feels vital in way that isn’t the case in so many pub restaurants. The room had great bed linen, tea, products etc and was furnished in a beautiful, practical way. Breakfast both mornings was excellent. We only had dinner the first night but the rabbit and bacon pie was astonishingly good and great value. Batcombe was a lovely village.

Stayed here for three nights over the weekend. The bed was one of the most comfortable that I had ever slept in. Rooms were beautifully decorated with a huge bath in the bathroom! Breakfasts in the morning were also delicious. With regards to the pub food this was 10/10 using fresh local produce. Staff were also attentive. Overall great stay I would definitely recommend anyone to stay here.

Good atmosphere, lovely renovation. Food was a little bland and some odd textures (potted pork was a lump of bland grey meat, pie had a lid that was hard to crunch through) Sure they will nail things as its a great venue, front of house fantastic and great buzz. Just need to refine and nail the menu (in my opinion).

The location and setting are tremendous, and the refurbishment is good, but still requires a little more character. The staff were attentive and helpful. However, the food was hugely disappointing. Insipid chicken pie with very greasy pastry and no vegetables; I am too embarrassed to say what it cost. A slice of cold quiche (supposedly asparagus tart) with a bunch of lettuce leaves (described as a garden salad!) - the filling was under-cooked and the pastry over-cooked. The only saving grace was the bowl of chips we had to order to supplement our meal. Sadly, all hype and no substance on the food front. What a missed opportunity. I cannot recommend this restaurant.

We ate here yesterday (Sunday), it was our second visit and while the first visit was most enjoyable, this one was a totally different experience. First, the menu is very limited and most definitely not child friendly and we had three of them with us, (surely not that unusual for a Sunday lunchtime - I always thought it was a family day). No burgers or fish and chips and the only roast on offer was roast chicken. Second, the service was only average - we asked for ketchup for the children and it never appeared. Third, the quality of the food that was delivered was very average and finally, The prices are absurd for what’s being offered. They might be ok in central London but for a pub in Somerset offering a decidedly average Sunday lunch they are ridiculous. Roast chicken and new potatoes £22, and that was the only dish offering potatoes as part of the dish for everything else, they were a £5 extra. I doubt we’ll be back.

Hmmm. Absolutely stunning refurb of a lovely old pub in a really very quaint village. Great, newly landscaped beer garden in the shadow of the village church. Nice choice of local drinks, a bit different from the norm. Bar snacks, croquettes and flatbread with hummus, really pretty tasty if laughably small portions for the price. Menu not inspiring or good value enough to encourage us to dine. Should mention that the clientele on a Saturday lunch time was a horrific mix of middle class, country coke heads , old poshos from The Red Trouser Brigade and middle class parents of misbehaved, Jemimas and Ottos who ignore them whilst they run riot and disrupt what could be a peaceful afternoon... Will give it another go during the week but I fear what could be a promising venue is going to be to annoying to visit for various reasons ...

Delicious food and surprisingly giant deserts (I’d advise sharing unless you’re really hungry!) My beef, beets and horseradish was 👌🏻 Dining al fresco in the sun was a perfect setting. Dropping a star as the service, while friendly, wasn’t quite as slick as it could have been (probably because it’s only be open a few weeks)

Well, you can't fault the location or the look of the pub - recently refurbished, The Gothic tower of St Mary's church overlooks the garden and outside seating area and is an awesome sight. Can't say the same for the food unfortunately. For a start, I thought the menu was seriously restricted, with a choice of only 6 mains. Two of us went for the pork chop. One went for the fish. Whoever dished out the plates must have had a sense of humour as one chop was almost twice the size of the other. Served with baby turnips (rather tasteless) and some nameless green veg: no potatoes, they had to ordered as an extra. Final outcome was that lunch consisted of the 3 mains, 3 side orders of chips, 3 drinks, 1 dessert, 1 cafetiere (for 1 person), 1 pot of tea. We were handed a bill for £162. Upon pointing out we didn't order the bottle of wine that was listed, the bill was reduced to £123 - 12.5 % service charge included. Now, okay, when you deduct the service charge, it wasn't massively expensive for a pub meal, unless you add in the factor that two of us had only the one course and the quality of the food was definitely lacking in both presentation and taste. I doubt I'll be eating there again as the local area has an abundance of great pubs serving menus of a much greater choice and quality. A huge pity, as we had such high expectations...

Had very high hopes for this new pub, and were, unfortunately, left very disappointed. The location and setting are lovely, however, the dinning experience was hugely lacklustre. The starters were ok, but very small and incredibly overpriced. When it came to the mains, which took nearly an hour to arrive, the salt beef with horseradish was pretty much inedible. The pork collar was also completely tasteless. We didn’t bother with puddings, despite still being hungry. The hype and cost of the pub should have made for an outstanding experience, but we left ulikely to ever return.

Pop in for a pint, but definitely don't bother staying for the food!! The splendid, cosy aesthetic of this pub nestled in the quaint country village of Batcombe made for the perfect setting to have a pint in the sun. However, the dishes were quite frankly disappointing. Starters were significantly over priced and tiny portions for something that tasted alright but was gone in two mouthfuls. The mains are where the majority of disappointment was felt. Tasteless, over-priced and a strange and jarring combination of flavours led to an overall poor experience. We were offered free puddings which was a nice enough gesture, but didn't want to risk feeling further let down. Frustrating because it feels a long way off what it could be. Won't be coming back again I'm afraid.

Disappointing. After so much superlative hype we arrived for lunch at a blandly worked-over old pub, with builders’ materials still around. Very popular with weekenders. Service was slow (nearly an hour between courses). Food really nothing special despite Margot Henderson’s help getting it set up, and none of the dishes she’d spoken of were on offer. Dull fish soup. Our green salad was dressed mostly with sprinkled salt. Chewy salt beef. A dish of scallops contained just two. We couldn’t stay for desserts.

We had the most fantastic and delicious meal here last night. We started with oysters and cocktails. My Negroni was spot on. Then starters; the cod roe was the stand out starter but fish soup, terrine and scallops all were enjoyed. We ordered the enormous T-bone steak for the table with sides and salad and it was cooked to perfection. We ordered 3 desserts for the table, brownie gooey and chocolatey, treacle tart delicious with a delicate pastry, but the star was the ricotta baked cheesecake. Not too sweet and light as a feather. The service was really good too; order taken in good time, drinks arrived before the food, check ins with us when we received our food to make sure all was well, plates cleared in good time, staff were friendly and attentive. The sun was shining, we were sat on the patio, and it was a perfect late May evening in Somerset.

We had a fantastic meal here. Down to earth but incredibly friendly and caring service, generous portions and delicious food. We thought the price compared to the quality was very good and were happy to pay a little bit more than pub prices for exceptionally well prepared food and good portions. We will definitely return and are happy to find a place that offers something special and different from the hundreds of other pubs offering "pub grub" (and don't get me wrong I love a pub that offers good pub grub too!!!)

So looked forward to lunch at the newly refurbished pub and much hyped chef... sadly disappointed. Food was fairly tasty but totally lacking in presentation - food looked as though it was plonked onto the plate - no thought given to eye appeal. Overly expensive at £27 for a small piece of unremarkable, though nicely cooked, fish, a spoonful of spinach and a side order of fries. Not a place to casually pop into or a dining experience to repeat anytime soon. Such a shame as the location is delightful.

It’s an understatement to say I was really excited this was opening as a massive fan of the Rochelle Canteen since day one. Hopefully it’s just finding its feet, but the very overpriced, able but deathly dull food and rigid, grudging service in an atmosphere as buzzing as a Cunard retirement cruise don’t bode well. Expensive austerity seems exactly the opposite of what this place should and still could bring to the area. Would it be so terrible to be a bit more fun?

This needs some work, tired and run down, damp smell in corridors, no longer serves food including any breakfasts. The recommendation for breakfast was to say "go to Shepton Mallet there are places there". The bathroom in the room was ok but only giving 1 sachet of coffee and 1 mug in a double room with two people is just being tight. The floor didn't look as if it had been vacuumed. The photo is from the room window showing drums of old cooking oil and dumped rubbish which looked as if it had been there for a while. Needless to say I would not recommend this place until it has been overhauled.

We stopped here last night after calling on the off chance for a table of 6 on the way home from the festival of lights at longleat. From the word get go the service was amazing so polite and helpful on the phone. We were greated at the door amd shown to our table. Where I waiter was absolutely amazing promptly took our drink and food order he was amazingly friendly a brill woth the children. You could tell he loved his job. Now the menu wasn't huge with a great deal of choice. But what was on there was fairly well priced. And I must admit I dint really expect a great deal but I have to say the food matched the service it was incredible well presented and absolutely full of flavour and the gravy on my dish wash to die for. For somewhere we just stopped out the blue I couldn't have wished to stop anywhere better. And next time we are in the area will be back. So if you looking for a family meal or evening something that little extra I would highly recommend this place. Top marks all round
