We've had a lovely stay at the Corner House. Great service and food combined with a comfy bed and a place to retreat after a long day on the road. Price/quality wise is very good, so we would come here again. Just be mindfull you might be woken up by a few cars driving fast, but thats hardly an issue as the hotel is alongside the road. Thanks to the staff for the lovely stay.

I stayed here a few weeks ago while doing some local training. The room was pretty average; I'd be woken up during the night by people moving around on the floor above or by voices in the bar. I was staying mid-week, so it could have been worse. The second drawback from my POV was that space in the car park is limited, so if people happen to park close, it can make getting back out a pain, especially if there are a few big vehicles in the car park. Even with the room in mind, the stay was still good value for the money. The breakfast was included and superb, making it better for me, given my early start time. The staff were always lovely, and the location can't really be argued with; there are plenty of local places to go to and explore/eat in the evenings. I'd stay there again.

We booked the family room. The room itself was passable and the bed was comfy, although there was so much dust under it. The bathroom however was AWFUL. There was so much mould in the shower tray it smelt. The curtain was far too long and floated about in the shower tray. There was nowhere to put anything. The floor was painted black and the lighting was abysmal. The chairs in the breakfast room were dirty and the tables were dusty underneath. The lighting was, again, very dark. The buffet consisted of cereal, yoghurt and a limited amount of fresh fruit. The cooked breakfasts were good. The view from our breakfast table was an overflowing very large black bin. Can’t praise the lovely staff enough they did everything to please. To the owner I’d say it wouldn’t cost too much to replace a shower tray. Remove rubbish (mop bucket and cleaning sign and an old table) on the landing, improve the lighting. One saving grace was the jazz evening. If you are at a loss as to how to improve your property I suggest you ask the Hotel Inspector to pop along.

Positives - size of the room for 3 is good - breakfast is good - walking distance to good restaurants. Negatives - Room was directly above a lively pub and the floor was literally shaking on a Saturday Night. We were relieved when the music finally stopped at 10:30pm. Verdict: Don’t stay on a Saturday if noise is one of your concerns.

Seeing comedians honing their craft, providing really good entertainment made the evening a fab mid-week night out - spoilt only by people in the bar being shouty-mcshouties which I thought was disrespectful and unnecessary. A family room for three adults was perfect, a good bathroom, parking onsite and a really good local breakfast awaited us at a reasonable price. Half a mile from the Cheese & Grain made it the perfect place for us to stay after seeing a gig. The only comments are that the room was very cold and took the provided heater a fair bit of time to warm it up, and the kettle is small for a family room...although we do like our tea. One disappointment was that no food was available when we got there as the chef had been given the night off, but halfway down the hill towards the town centre, tucked away down an alley on the left, is the Old Bath Arms, which is worth a visit!

We stayed here as a family of four. I chose it because it was close to Longleat where we had visited for the day and because the family room included two single beds for the children. We received a warm welcome on arrival. The staff were very chatty with our girls and we were shown to our room. The room was a good size for the 4 of us. Tea and coffee was available but the only tempting thing about it was the Lotus biscuits. The en-suite bathroom was disappointing. It was really quite grubby and in need of a deep clean. A renovation wouldn’t go amiss. The breakfast was excellent! I had the full English and asked for eggs, bacon and sausages to be well done which they were. Best hotel breakfast I’ve had in a while. Overall the place served its purpose as a place to sleep for the night but I wouldn’t stay here again.

We decided on a spur of the moment trip last weekend, and after searching for lodgings in the Bath area, we found The Cornerhouse in nearby Frome was available (and more affordable) The Cornerhouse is a bar / restaurant with guestrooms. Our room was large with two big windows and a well equipped en-suite bathroom, with one of the biggest showers I've seen in a hotel. A good King Sized bed (although a little hard for my taste) provided a good nights sleep, with no noise coming through from the bar or first-floor function room. - Wifi is available throughout the hotel / bar. The breakfasts available were large in portion with the full English including locally sourced sausages and bacon. A special note for the bacon, that was beautifully thick cut, and cooked perfectly.

We visited Frome, over Easter, and stayed at The Cornerhouse for 5 nights. The staff were very friendly, and helpful . The food was lovely and beautifully cooked , in both the evening and at breakfast. We had a small double room, which was quite adequate for our needs, but our only criticism would be that it was not made clear that this room was directly above the downstairs bar area where there is music most nights and karaoke on a Saturday. The music stops around midnight so not too much of a problem, but if you want to get to sleep early, it can be annoying. We cannot speak for other rooms, which might have been far away from the music, where this was not an issue. This was the only "fly in the ointment", as our stay here was lovely, and so central for a quick walk into town.

We went to the Cornerhouse with friends in a party of five on Saturday 5 March. The Cornerhouse was busy and so the atmosphere was lively. It has a real pub feel to it, and is very accessible. The 3 staff were busy but completely professional and while we waited for our food, the wait was not excessive, and the food was well worth waiting for. The menu is limited, but that reflects what they do best here; it is a "grill" after all, and the steaks are excellent. I was only sorry that they had run out of their very good Rioja!

Went on a Saturday night after booking a table for 6. When we arrived only 2 staff were on with a full bar and busy restaurant. We waited a while at the bar to be shown to our table and waited over 30mins just to have drinks order taken and longer to receive drinks and not once did any one offer to take our food order. Eventually we asked if we could order and our order was taken. We waited a while but the atmosphere of the restaurant was rowdy and unpleasant (& cold as were next to a drafty window) so we decided to leave, we cancelled our food order and paid for our drinks and left. This place really needs to decide if it is a pub or restaurant as all the customers from the bar were crowding in the restaurant area shouting across the restaurant, leaning on diners chairs, spilling drinks, swearing and being very rude. One man was blocking the door to the bar and when of our party asked him to get by his answer was simply no and he carried on standing in the way. If they want to have a separate dining area with food and table service they should not let drinkers take over the area as it was a really uncomfortable dining experience and I would never go back here. Besides that having only 2 members of staff (they were lovely & trying their best) on on a busy Saturday night meant they could not attend to customers. We were less than impressed especially as it was a family meal, one guest having traveled all the way from Cardiff and myself from London.

We popped in here on Sunday for lunch. I follow them on facebook and often see their Sunday lunch offerings popping up! We decided to drop in and both had 3 courses. The service was very friendly and quick. We got drinks straight away and went into the restaurant area which was nice and quiet. It was about 1pm and there were a few tables with others on there but lunch is served until 3pm so you can make your way leisurely. As it is such a bargain to have 3 courses for £14 we decided on this. I had the goats cheese starter which is beautifully presented and very tasty. We both then had roast pork belly, served with vegetables, a Yorkshire pudding a few roast potatoes. The spuds were lovely and I would have liked a few more! I do like crackling and the fat on the pork was just rubbery but that's fine as it wasn't listed as crackling, it's just what I would have liked! We then both had chocolate brownie afterwards which was fresh and warm served with chocolate ice cream. We then had coffee and tea. The whole experience was flawless, the place is nice and it's the first time I've eaten in here for a few years. It's a nice pub, with quality and well presented food. The portions are the right size if you're having 3 courses, I would come back!

My wife and myself were on a days jolly to Stourhead gardens and aimed to eat in their restaurant, but rain and a power cut and no hot food put us off. we did not want to travel on a major road so just took the B road and ambled into Frome with no plan in mind as to where to eat. Having done a circuit of the town we just chose the Cornerhouse because we could park nearby. So very glad we did.We were greeted with a lovely smile from the lady behind the bar (I assume French by her accent), someone else quickly found us a nice table also with a lovely manner and smile. Great food soon arrived hot, nicely presented and the portions generous. The goats cheese was delicious to start as were the falafel and tzatziki dip. Main courses. The lamb was tender and cooked with a little garlic, perfect. My wife had the beef which was also very good. I often find that the gravy served with Sunday lunches is very poor and lets the meal down badly, but not in the Cornerhouse. The gravy was the best treat and perfectly complimented the roast meat..A word about the vegetables. roasted carrot that tasted of sweet carrot, cabbage not too mushy. The roasted spuds were ok but could have been crisper but hey at this time of year its too early for decent spuds to roast. New potato option? And the pudding. Oh the pudding. We had a sticky toffee job which was definitely homemade. you could taste the dates and orange zest and also lots of sauce. I met the chef and nearly thought of proposing marriage the pudding was so good. Now the icing on the cake for me. Three things which you very seldom find altogether.Coffee which was piping hot and even more surprising tasted like coffee should taste.\A clean laundered serviette (not a grotty paper job), and last of all the attitude of the staff.Lots of spontaneous smiles very friendly and you made us feel valued and special.Thankyou all so much

Consistently good food and service, warm and welcoming, and a nice pub too. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Returned for an evening meal this time. The Cornerhouse was advertising a new menu from which we had starters of potted pork and oxtail with brioche, the mains were sea bass and osso bucco followed by vanilla creme brulee and coffee chocolate possett. It's a long time since we've been to a restaurant where both parties found all three courses faultless, well, this time not only were they faultless, they were all perfect! The menu was imaginative, the flavours delicious and service friendly and efficient.

Had a delicious Sunday lunch here a few months ago and have been meaning to go back. Excellent value for the quality of the food and a nice relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff.

I have waited to review this restaurant as I like to give local places a couple of visits before I recommend them, as I believe constancy is key.Our latest meal was a Sunday lunch and it was simply outstanding, perfect beef, great roasties, yorkshires etc etc etc.The hostess works tireless to ensure top level service and always makes you feel welcome. We have eaten other meals here and they have all been very good and they have a great selection of wines, my partner and I think they are underpricing the food as it is ridiculously good value!

This needs some work, tired and run down, damp smell in corridors, no longer serves food including any breakfasts. The recommendation for breakfast was to say "go to Shepton Mallet there are places there". The bathroom in the room was ok but only giving 1 sachet of coffee and 1 mug in a double room with two people is just being tight. The floor didn't look as if it had been vacuumed. The photo is from the room window showing drums of old cooking oil and dumped rubbish which looked as if it had been there for a while. Needless to say I would not recommend this place until it has been overhauled.

Food was nice. Staff need some more training. Seated with no menus even though we had booked to eat and unsure on the menu. Staff were friendly and polite.

The lounges can be sometimes be a bit hit and miss sometimes, but this one was great. Served a table of 9 well (ordered via QR codes). We ordered quite a range of food inc. tapas, burritos, full english and pancakes. All food was to a good quality for the price paid, didn't have to wait too long and the staff were decent.

Although we did not stay here, whilst visiting the area, we stopped in on several occasions because of the name (if you know you know). What an amazing and friendly welcome, run by family. Even though we were not staying here, we were made to feel like guests in the family home. Would highly recommend and when we are back in the area we intend to stay .
