The best restaurants in East Devon South West

We ate here two years ago & loved it so much we decided to eat here again . We were not disappointed from the moment you walk through the entrance you know you are entering a high class establishment. The food was delicious with a very good menu to chose from & the setting in the restaurant itself with the many chandeliers was in a class of its own . The waitress’s were very attentive & the waiter knew the wine menu extremely well . We both had a wonderful evening & who knows maybe back in an other 2 years . Thank you for making our evening so special for us .

Huge disappointment. Be warned! What is on offer is nothing like what is shown on website. Had to wait three quarters on an hour and then had to prompt for menu. Young staff very pleasant but untrained for restaurant work. Had to ask for condiments and table water. Had three different mains and all equally mediocre. Would not recommend. Very different from the divine food service and bon homie of the previous owners.

Ottery Pizza make the Best pizza in town, Really loved the veg pizza i had ordered.

Lovely spot on the seafront with great views of the cliffs. Reasonably priced (coming from somebody who thinks everything is expensive in 2024!) and really tasty food. I had the halloumi flatbread and all the ingredients were lovely and fresh and it was cooked really nicely. Service was friendly and prompt. Will definitely come again 👍

I have responded to the experience questions despite a non visit. My message is based on the fact I was ultimately unable to enjoy the products from my online order, as I appear to be excluded from delivery listings due to the fact I live on a Scottish Island. What a fantastic pub, cosy atmosphere and the most delicious food. Staff were so friendly and the food was the best I have tasted in a long time. Fish of the day was outstanding and cooked to perfection. My friend had the pork belly which was equally as good and very tasty. Generous portion sizes. Their homemade chocolate brownie was out of this world. I will definitely be back. Good value for money too. The pub itself has so much going on.

Return visit after last years stay. Still the same warm welcome and the facilities are clean and tidy. Pam kindly gave us the same pitch as last year which was nice.

Our second visit to this fantastic venue- and it didn’t disappoint! Lovely friendly staff, excellent food - not your usual roadside fare, definitely a step ( or two) up. Our dog was brought her own bowl of water too. A very special place.

Best cream tea ever. Two massive scones, baked to perfection, very generous servings of delicious jam and clotted cream and tea. The setting is lovely, particularly where we ate in a conservatory-type area at the rear. Lovely helpful staff. Spotlessly clean. 'Can't wait to visit again. I will dream of this clotted cream tea for weeks on end.

What a gem of a place. Tucked away down a side street, but easy to find. Great service, extremely friendly staff and a superb selection of food. We had bacon baguettes, freshly made which we chose to eat on the prom. Very reasonably priced too. Thoroughly recommend and would visit here daily if I lived in Sidmouth!!!

Gingerbread house cafe is a lovely local coffee/breakfast/lunch spot on the high st, just up from the beach. I recently ordered a cream tea for two box to be delivered to my mother for her birthday as I live far away. She loved it, it was fresh and delicious and included sandwiches, scones, clotted cream and all the fixings, and she couldn’t have been happier to be surprised on her birthday with a friendly face and a special delivery. They are also very active in the community and offered free lunches for school kids during Covid. A great cafe!

Beautiful seafood in a fresh and modern restaurant. Very accommodating to us and our baby, so much so we visited for lunch two days in a row. Just what Sidmouth needed. Will definitely be returning!

A warm welcome by Sharon and Paul, excellent service. Tasty Sunday roasts , good beers and range of drinks. Good value for money.

We were welcomed into the restaurant by friendly staff and shown to our table. The decor is nicely plain, comfortable and the toilets exceptionally clean (always a good sign) The food was excellent, lots of it and high quality. Great service too, thank you to all involved. We will definitely visit next time we visit with our family from the Midlands.
