Lovely people and affordable food

The food was lovely,there was a good choice on the menu and staff were welcoming and friendly. The café is clean and tidy I would be happy to visit the cafe again .

Went into the bay tree just after 2pm on a Thursday with the door wide open, sign saying open, and Google saying open only to be glared at and angrily told they were closed

Really good food big portions reasonably priced and friendly staff and the only reason for giving a 4 for atmosphere is that is on main road out of town centre so a bit noisy but nothing can be done about that really

At the Bay Tree Cafe, 11 Mill Street in Ottery St.Mary, you are always guaranteed a warm welcome, good Service, and well-cooked wholesome food at very reasonable prices. It's a no-Frills Cafe, not a Restaurant for Visitors, so if you are looking for fancy Coffees, expensive Pastries and Avocados you had best look elsewhere. The Bay Tree can oblige with a great Fry-up or a tray of Fresh Local Eggs however. The good food and excellent value for money attracts folk from all walks of life from workmen to pensioners and everyone in between, so the Bay Tree can sometimes be quite a busy Social Hub. The only negatives are that it can suffer with heavy condensation on cold days so the front door may be open wide, and the local Mobile Internet Reception is often poor, just like the rest of Devon.

Comfortable and welcoming atmosphere. Great BLT with my cappuccino. It hit the right spot.

I'm rating this on the flaming tar barrels night and nothing else 2 coffee latte £8 Piece of cake £3.50 I thought the coffee was over priced £4 each and the cakes all looked stunning beautiful presented there were just to sweet all the way through the cake Freindly staff I just thought the coffee was over priced for takeaway

Rather large portions to my taste but freshly cooked and pleasant staff. Hope all the Brownies sold well - 750 for Tar Barrels night, how enterprising!

One of the best sausage sandwiches I've ever had, we usually order up to 15 sandwiches at a time and they are always done on the time we request for collection and all orders are always correct. Honestly can't fault this place.

Stopped in for a quick latte. Lovely little cafe and very busy with lots of locals which is nice to see. Prices were really reasonable and staff were very friendly 👍

Oh dear. I have been here frequently. I have 1 egg, 2 bacon, 1 fried bread, fresh tomato and a latte. I’ve kept going in as food freshly prepared and always well cooked. I go in by myself, I cause no trouble to anyone else. Alas today, another customer - a window cleaner guy in shorts, was very rude and very nasty to me. This was in called for, and another guy with him told him to apologise. He didn’t - he just became even nastier saying I should sit elsewhere. I was sat at the table by myself when 2 men asked if ok to sit the other end, which they did and were then joined by the window cleaner. I do not deserve such nastiness - does he bully lone older females? Very unpleasant. I will NOT go back to the cafe ever again. I thought it was a safe place to be, but clearly isn’t. So Mr Window Cleaner you have totally spoilt one of my life’s simple pleasures. No doubt that would please you.

We had standard, a veggie and a mega breakfast with drinks for £24 so good value. Clean plates all round which I think speaks for itself. Good service and Ottery St Mary is rather lovely. We enjoyed the photos of the Tar Barrels which is a nice touch. Recommended 👍

Staff so helpful and friendly a proper old fashiond cafe were all the locals go too. Good old fashiond food and the prices are very good you can even buy fresh eggs from the local farm there.

Nice friendly place. Cheaper than most. If you want a traditional greasy spoon kind of place that serves fried bread with the full English... this is the place you need to go to.

Absolutely love going to the Baytree for a cheeky breakfast. Great to see them open for takeaway. Just had a lovely breakfast bap. If your passing by definitely stop by. Great staff, great food.

As you walk In your greeted with a smile Is a nice cafe light and warm atmosphere. The staff are friendly and bubbly. It a great place to bring the family or just to go in and relax. The only thing is they dont take card only cash..

great little cafe with good prices

Need to change their opening times online. 3 times me and my family have come for some food and you’ve decided to close early. Not really appealing to new customers. If you close at 3, why turn everything off at 2? But online says you close at 4? Won’t visit again for this reason. I have no idea what the food is like as you always close early

This traditional 'no-frills' British Cafe has everything you could possibly want from a cafe and more. From the moment you walk in to the cafe, a warm welcome is waiting to greet you from Sally and her really friendly and attentive staff. The food is always freshly cooked to order, good sized portions, served quickly, really tasty and all very modestly priced! As a delivery driver of nearly 30 years, I can honestly say hand on heart that you will struggle to find a better all round cafe than this one that offers such great food at great prices and superb customer service all under one roof. Simply the best in Devon bar none.
