Sunday roast with the family. 6 adults, 2 children, 2 vegans. Every one of us left knowing we’d had the best roast we’d had in ages. Possibly the best roast potatoes I’ve had in a pub. Puddings to die for. Great choice of beers and ales. Will be going back very soon.

We stayed with another couple for 2 nights B&B plus one dinner. The hotel couldn't be better placed in Winchester but both the car park and the dining room are far too small for the number of guests. One of us had to wait for about 40 mins for a car park space (for which they charge £15 per night) and we had to wait for over 30 mins each morning for a table at breakfast. The hotel was busy but they should operate booked timings for breakfast rather than making guests wait for tables when they cannot accommodate the numbers. The food was very good but at dinner two of us were served our main courses about 10 mins before the others. I paid for the wine separately but when the bill was presented a service charge had been added which I asked to be deleted which it was.

Fairly unimpressive. The kids were so excited and the decor is great but there seems to be some underlying issues. It was not busy as we came in early at 5pm. 25 minutes to get a menu, at least 8 items not available which was only an issue for adults, food arrived before our drinks which eventually arrived incorrect, food was decent though, we requested a menu again for desserts but after 15 minutes, no sign of it so we paid the bill and left for Kaspa’s. Seemed to be a similar story on other tables, eventually the people hearing the unavailable items just left without ordering. In hindsight, this probably would have been our best bet. Such a shame.

Visited this pub with my husband on a Friday night. I have never met such poor service in my life…it was shocking…whoever the barmaid? Owner? I have no clue…I visit a lot of places but have never been so shocked of lack of service ..friendliness …it was almost like you were a problem going there! I guess they are freehold and are happy with “their locals” fine…good luck ….do not even go in there for a pint…unbelievable!

I met with my 3 bridesmaids to discuss all things wedding as i don’t live locally to them. From the moment we arrived we were treated wonderfully. With a wonderful atmosphere between the team and with us. As a restaurant attached to a hotel my expectation was low but we all came away smiling and feeling like we’d all been looked after ☺️

Stopped in on a dog walk for a quick drink mid afternoon on a weekday. Ordered a lime and soda at the bar. The not so friendly bar staff asked for £9. A little taken back l confirmed l ordered a soda and lime to which l was told yes £9 as they don’t have soda water on tap. I literally was shell shocked at the price. Another member of staff walked by and the bar staff asked to confirm the price. They responded with just charge for a cordial. Was then asked for £4.50. Left rather taken a back. Went to the pub across the road with friendly staff and paid £1.40. I dread to imagine the price of their wine and food!

Treated my 14 year old grandson to lunch. He had a burger, I had calves liver, and we both had a dessert (which I only had to keep him company as I was quite full). We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals, but I would like to say that my main course, the calves liver with crispy bacon, bubble and squeak with a red wine jus, was probably one of the best pub meals I've ever had. The bill came to under £60, which considering we had 4 plates of food and drinks, I consider very fair. Can't believe this was my first visit, it certainly won't be the last.

Quite possibly the best value carvery in Hampshire. Have eaten here 4 times in the last 3 months, including a family birthday party for 10. The food has always been very good. Staff are very pleasant and accommodating. The prices are very reasonable and all the time it stays that way I will continue to support. The renovation work has come on very well and has been finished to a high standard. The front porch has at last been finished, which I’m sure will be a welcome relief for those sitting in the conservatory during the winter months (ie minimal draught). Very happy to recommend.

My wife and I found ourselves at the Cricketers Inn having tried a couple of closer pubs which had stopped serving food at 3pm (totally understandable but we had a lot on and we're running late and hungry!). We're glad we did. We received a warm welcome and a great lunch. 2 courses and some drinks came to just under £50 which I'm not going complain about. The food came out nice and quick, fresh and roasting hot. It was delicious, hats off to the chef. My wife had a chicken burger and I had a stir fry, both went down well. I'd recommend a visit, I'm a little disappointed that we didn't have the kids with us as the play area looked like it would have kept them occupied! Well done.
