Great Sunday lunch, really good portions including cauliflower cheese and lots of gravy available. Very good value for money at £17 for beef, pork or turkey. Nice atmosphere and very good service from the staff. Good selection of puddings as well.

Sunday Lunch …and to my mind it did not disappoint I have to say the Cauliflower Cheese is the best I have had & the portion was awesome so much so had to take the leftover home….I had nut roast which I had to enquire about as it’s not posted on the menu but it was worth enquiring to be fair I would happily have had the cauliflower cheese Roasties & Yorkies …my friend had the beef & could have done with a sharper knife but she did get one in the end…both plates were cleared …we both found enough room for the biscoffee cheesecake which was lovely …overall a great find…young helpful team & good value for money …will I be back oh yes most definately …do I recommend absolutely oh & they are dog friendly too

Just like to thank Lee and his staff for looking after our party of 9 last night. A bit of an impromtu dinner for my wifes Birthday and it was a really good evening. The atmosphere in our local pub was lovely and Lee who has taken over running it recently has done a great job. The food was excellent and great value. Who doesnt love steak and bottle of wine for two for £40? The menu offers something for everyone and we spoke to other friends having dinner in the pub and they also recommended the venison. Looking forward to all the special events coming up too! Thank you and sorry for making you light so many candles on the Birthday Cake!

Stopped in Friday night for a couple of drinks and ended up trying one of their specials. Very friendly pub and the pigeon breast was delicious. We liked it so much that we also booked in for Sunday lunch which did not disappoint. All cooked from scratch and utterly delicious. Good value too. Thanks to Lee and the team. We hope to come back when we are next in the area.

A great family friendly pub Went here as part of a big group of families,20 of us in total. Great service, couldn’t have been more flexible about our needs. The food was fantastic and really great value. Great selection of drinks and a really well kept couple of real ales on the pumps, which went down very well with the dads. As parents of 3 children 5 and under going out for dinner is hard work, but they made this a breeze, with great kids meals and quick service times. The kids loved running around the garden while we waited for the food and we enjoyed a drink on a lovely blue sky evening. Really generous portions and great value, we all left having avoided Friday dinner prep and clean up and feeling very relaxed. Staff were all great with the kids and the horrendous mess we left. Thank you! A proper gem of a family friendly pub, but looking at the menu would also love to come back without them for a more relaxed evening meal!

We went to the pub for Mother’s Day Sunday roast. It was a really lovely experience. The pub has had a fairly troubled time of it over the last few years so it was really great to see it full and with a good and happy atmosphere. Since Lee has taken over, with the help of his lovely wife Ruth, the whole thing has changed for the better. The food was of a high standard aswell and we will definitely be using the pub more. Remember Micheldever use it or lose it.

What an absolutely lovely place. Warm, inviting, as a book lover the set up with the sofas in front of the fire place with the bookcase just there is great. The rest of the place is filled with so many little things to see - a grandfather clock, a display with old looking plates, beautiful intrinsic cut tables, etc etc. But what really makes the place is the guv Lee and his staff. We popped into the place for a quick drink before heading elsewhere. But we will definitely be coming back to this place and I can't wait to taste the food.

After two dinners at this pub two weeks running I won't be eating here again. The meat pie of the day last week had lamb too tough to chew and a piece of bone that almost cracked my tooth. Carrots were served without informing me that they had run out of peas and there was barely any mashed potato. My second meal was salmon which was over cooked, served with 2 very small pieces of mushy broccoli (possibly frozen) and 3 tiny overcooked potatoes, possibly pre cooked and reheated. Neither meal was filling or value for money. Very disappointed and will not be recommending to friends.

Great to see the HM&SE is back in business. The atmosphere is just what you want from a country pub - friendly staff and cosy fires. As a vegetarian the food choices were not great, and the chips I had with the vegan burger were overcooked and dry. On a later visit (also in August) I'd tried the simple cheese baguette with salad, however, which was fresh and good value. Would be good to see some more inspired veggie/vegan options once the new management get going.

Really impressed with the pub which we visited recently for a local wedding. It has recently been taken over by new owners and coped amazingly with a big group of us (a table of 20 people). The food was absolutely delicious, orders were all correct and arrived at the same time. The staff were so attentive and helpful. The menu was really varied and every dish was served to an excellent standard. We couldn't enjoy the beer garden fully because of the weather, but look forward to returning in sunnier times! This is a great little family pub nested in the heart of a village community. The pub has a traditional feel with a warm and friendly staff. It is a newly opened pub (well, it was closed for a long time but has been taken on by a new owner). Being a village pub there is the best of both worlds; the atmosphere of a community pub where everyone knows each other, but without making outsiders feel out of place. A cosy sell stocked local pub. Great atmosphere- with word burning stoves at either end of the main bar. Staff were all warm, welcoming and efficient. A short but varied pub menu. Food was well cooked: portions were generous. The Welsh rarebit with home made chutney was a particular delight.

Re-opened in January 2020 and I went with my daughter for Sunday lunch. Excellent, nicely cooked medium rare beef, properly cut. Good quality ingredients. Hot and well presented. Nice range of proper puddings. It is going to be popular so even though they do keep open tables.

Now under new ownership and new management this pub is a local village gem where we went for Sunday roast. The roast beef and lamb we had was absolutely delicious which just melted in our mouths. Fab beers on tap too. Will definitely be going back.

This is our local pub, which has just been bought from Green King and us now independently owned. What a wonderful result for the villagers! Wr have eaten here twice now and the food is delicious and just what you want from your pub. A good choice of wines and one of the best things is the welcome. A big ‘Thank you’ to Paula, Andy and the team.

This is my village pub and I’m thrilled to have it back and completely revitalised. Having been bought and renovated by locals over the last few months, the Half Moon is now a free house with a new licensee. Beer is good, the welcome friendly, and so far (only been open a couple of weeks) bustling. I’ve not tried the food yet, but there are always people eating and I’ve only heard good things. Don’t be put off by reviews from the past, it had caretaker mangers in place for around 18 months as the brewery who previously owned were running it down. This place is completely different and well worth a visit.

This pub is under new management - and what a change! Now an independent, welcoming, friendly hostelry with a range of good beers and well kept wines.

Me and my partner went in for lunch only to be told by the landlord no food . The man should not be behind the bar I have never seen such a miserable and rude man we had our drinks and left and won’t be going back until the horrible landlord has LEFT . Some people should not be in the pub business and he’s one of them .

Very poor experience arrived at what looked a deserted pub not into the pub my partner. She’d if they did tea the grumpy barman said. It’s a pub not as coffee shop no food menus n show despite website showing food menu if that’s a local pub then they should find a better landlord others arrived asking for food as said freshly cooked was told no we not cooking as soon as we finished our drinks the barman snatched the glasses away from us thought very rude my thoughts if your thinking of going there don’t bother as no t worth it very sorry but all of our thought shame as looks nice inside

Hmmmmm! Called in on the off chance, for lunch on a Monday. Was greeted by a very harassed looking man, who seemed very happy to accept our dogs, but we might have been the last thing he wanted. Miserable is a flattering remark! There was no food & he told us that there was no other pubs open on a Monday. We left straight after a drink. Won’t be going back!

Would love to be able to recommend The Cricketers but it was possibly the worst |Sunday Lunch we've ever had. Food was poor , service mediocre and cost extortionate. They even put a 12.5% sevice charge on the already expensive bill. To top it all one of our family who ate the pork had a very upset stomach .

Pleasant relaxed atmosphere, excellent food, prices reasonable, service perhaps a little slow. Gave us more time to talk. Give it a go.

We stayed with another couple for 2 nights B&B plus one dinner. The hotel couldn't be better placed in Winchester but both the car park and the dining room are far too small for the number of guests. One of us had to wait for about 40 mins for a car park space (for which they charge £15 per night) and we had to wait for over 30 mins each morning for a table at breakfast. The hotel was busy but they should operate booked timings for breakfast rather than making guests wait for tables when they cannot accommodate the numbers. The food was very good but at dinner two of us were served our main courses about 10 mins before the others. I paid for the wine separately but when the bill was presented a service charge had been added which I asked to be deleted which it was.
