Stopped in on a dog walk for a quick drink mid afternoon on a weekday. Ordered a lime and soda at the bar. The not so friendly bar staff asked for £9. A little taken back l confirmed l ordered a soda and lime to which l was told yes £9 as they don’t have soda water on tap. I literally was shell shocked at the price. Another member of staff walked by and the bar staff asked to confirm the price. They responded with just charge for a cordial. Was then asked for £4.50. Left rather taken a back. Went to the pub across the road with friendly staff and paid £1.40. I dread to imagine the price of their wine and food!

My sister and I took our mum for her 88th birthday we were so pleased that we chose this place as Paris treated my mum like she was royalty and made her day very special for her. The food was delicious and will certainly be coming back and recommending it to friends. We didn’t realise that there was also a spa there which Paris very kindly showed us around and can confidently say I will definitely be booking a spa day there.

Came for lunch today with my husband. The waiter explained that they only had the brunch menu (even though it was 1:30pm which I thought was weird) plus they had a steak sandwich or a club sandwich available. So I had Eggs Benedict with a rosti, and my husband had the Club sandwich. He said the sandwich was nice but not the best he ever has had, and mine was okay but the rosti was literally just a hash brown which was a little disappointing (I have had nicer rosti's elsewhere). When we paid it came to more than I expected so I asked for a receipt and to my shock the Club Sandwich was £19.95!! We couldn't believe it. I expected the whole bill to be maybe £25 not just the one sandwich. We are not tight by any means but this seems extortionate for a sandwich. What frustrated me the most is that the pricing for that was not in line with the rest of the food menu, and when the club sandwich was offered to us the price was not mentioned at all. My brunch was £9.95, so we had no reason to expect the sandwich to be double that cost. Appreciate I am being a 'Karen' leaving this review but I feel that other people may want a heads up. We live in the village but sadly will not be returning.

We used to use this place all the time before Quob took it over. The breakfast used to be lovely. We went today and it was expensive and crummy at best. The server was grumpy, quiet and looked like she didn’t want to be there. The full English was not a full English. It was £15. No baked beans. No black pudding. Microwaved sloppy tinned mushrooms. The ‘full English’ was 1 sausage, 1 Luke warm hash brown, 1 piece of dry grilled tough bacon, 3 tiny cherry tomatoes, tinned mushrooms and egg and one slice of toast. Crazy for £15. Like absolute rip off. There are loads of cafes locally, with double the food, a true full English for literally £7. Go there instead. Had coffee too which was nice. No complaints there.

Very disappointing experience at the spa at Quob House Hotel. My friend and I had paid to try out the spa facilities. On arrival we realized there was nowhere to park longer than a couple of hours, we had to park quite some distance away and walk. It should be made clearer that parking is not available onsite for users of the spa. On arrival we were shown to the 'changing room' which was a tiny freezing cold shed. Not acceptable for a spa. We then discovered that half the facilities were not functioning, a major issue when the spa is very small to begin with. I decided I'd give the massage chair a try but it was less than relaxing when a workman turned up to fix the speakers that were supposed to be pumping out relaxing spa music. To top it off, they were extremely understaffed. We were made to feel a nuisance for ordering a coffee. There were 2 ladies who were there for a spa day plus treatments but there was not enough staff to provide their massages at the time they booked. After a very long wait for staff to find out what could be done and much toing and froing, they were reluctantly offered a complimentary glass of sparkling wine in front of my friend and I who were not offered anything. The young girl who had been left to seemingly run the spa single handedly was lovely but the management left a lot to be desired. Appauling customer service. I had assumed that it was teething issues but having had yet another dreadful experience having a meal booking cancelled on me last minute I can see this is a theme. If things are not ready for customers then Quob should not be taking money off people.

It was an expensive overnight package for a birthday treat, and for the price I’d expect a great service anyway, and a much better quality breakfast. Better value would make it a 4 out of 5, and coupled with a good breakfast, it could rate 5 out of 5. But I was a bit disappointed with what we actually got. On the plus side, it’s a lovely old building, in a great location in the middle of Wickham. The staff were super-friendly, and the decor smart and characterful we had (though what’s with all that over-the-top vegetation climbing over the bed-head in our bedroom?) And the wine selection is second to none, with the option on wine-by-the-glass from nearly every bottle (though the wine is not particularly cheap, unless you qualify for the members discount). The dinner menu was good, and we enjoyed the food and the good service, although the restaurant was almost empty. And the bedroom charming and comfortable. Breakfast was a major disappointment, and service slow, despite staff apparently outnumbering customers. I was brought completely the wrong dish, nothing like what I had ordered (and it’s not as if the staff were too over-worked to be able to concentrate). The coffee was pretty ropey, and rather dangerous - the cups too big for the saucers, and I almost got scalded when my coffee cup slid off the saucer. The orange juice tasted like the long-life version from a carton. So, I can’t say it was good value for money, and the poor breakfast experience points to a lack of attention to detail. It’s s shame, but that’s how it was.

Wickham tea room has always been a winner; friendly atmosphere, good food and great service…… until new management took it over. Our visit today was awful. We arrived to staff who didn’t acknowledge us, put us on a table which was dirty, dressed like they were going to a funeral and in a room that was cold and lacked any sort of tea room charm. The whole place seemed to be aimed at driving membership of Quob rather than delivery an experience for those there. The waitress did not even look at us when taking our order preferring to be at a fixed terminal and ask us for our drinks with her back to us! What a shame - a great little tea rooms ruined. Suffice to say - we won’t be back and shan’t be recommending any of Quob locations any time soon.

We have been here several times before when it was Lily's and the Old Teahouse and it was a lovely, informal cafe with great service and food. Today was our 1st visit for breakfast since new management has taken over and we were disappointed. When we arrived, the staff were dressed in black suits like funeral directors. None of the previous, friendly staff seem to still be there. We were taken upstairs but they have made table space where the toilets used to be and we were sat there. It was cold and whenever people came up there was a draught. There were lots of artificial flowers on the wall and ceiling, not sure about that. I am vegetarian and there was no vegetarian or indeed vegan breakfast on the menu, so I had to ask. They said they would have to ask the chef! They said I could have the meat breakfast with vegan sausage. There was also bacon on the meat breakfast so I asked if I could have baked beans instead as a swap which I was told would be OK. The prices have been put up as well. The service was very slow for the food and it wasn't busy. The food was OK when it did arrive but my fried eggs were solid, not runny. I went to the toilets and was shocked to find only one small ladies one, no hand dryer and paper towels were on the floor next to the bin!! I told staff and they said that the towels should have been on the ledge, but this was next to the toilet! My husband told me the gents was the same! I have added two photo of the ladies and one of the gents. We spoke to the staff about this, they were two young girls, who were very pleasant but also admitted that there had been lots of comments that it wasn't as good as it used to be. I said I was shocked about the lack of cooked vegetarian and vegan options and how it was a lot more expensive. When we got the bill I was charged an extra £2 for the beans! I did argue this and it was adjusted. We felt sorry for the staff, especially as it used to be so good. We feel that the management need to review their menu and the ambience.

Popped in here after a long walk for a warm drink. As someone who is dairy-free, I was pleasantly surprised to have the rare opportunity of choice, since they offered dairy-free milk alternatives. I chose to have a hot chocolate which was lovely although scolding hot as first. Atmosphere in the place was lovely, staff kind and friendly, and quiet music playing with dim lighting. Only marked down due to the fact that my drink was so warm, I could not drink it for five minutes and maybe the menu could’ve been priced down a little bit! Would still highly recommend.

I like to keep my reviews fair and open. I have scoured other reviews to see if there have been any issues recently or change in managemenrent. It would appear that there has been a recent change which has turned this little tea room around and pushed away a lot of its clientèle. My Experience My wife, son, and I are currently staying in Rooksbury Park for the weekend. With the miserable weather we decided to visit the local tea rooms for some breakfast. The only place open at the time was the old tea rooms, it claimed to serve breakfast so we chose to go there. On arrival we were met by young staff, all dressed up in suits, so we immediately felt underdressed for 0930 in the morning, we were presented with a large oversized menu containing the worlds smallest menu inside. The main big breakfast tickled my fancy, so I opted for this with the vegan sausage. I'm not a picky vegetarian and am happy to have no meat if there is no alternative, so this was a positive. A young man, once again in a suit, took our orders and left. He then came back and asked how we wanted our eggs, then once again to ask what toast we wanted. Approximately 15 minutes later, our breakfast arrived, vegaterian sausage and bacon. To my confusion, we questioned why, if someone ordered vegetarian sausages, why would they want bacon? I'm not quite sure how that is a difficult thing to comprehend. There was an awkward pause, as the young staff worked out their next move, and they eventually removed our plates and returned 5 minutes later with the same plate of food, with the bacon removed which had now gone cold. The food We both received two eggs, mine were fried, and my wife's were poached. I can't speak for hers, but I could hardly taste mine over the seasoning. The same goes for the mushrooms. There was a singular hash brown, some tomatoes, and one slice of toast. I couldn't also miss the vegetarian sausage I mentioned earlier, which looked like it had spent the week partying in ibiza without suncream as it was looking a bit worse for wear and was peeling due to aparent lack of after sun, overall the food was very....meh. After this, we were presented with a bill of £35 for our breakfast, my sons 2 sausages and toast and one coffee. Although I'm not ready to file for bankruptcy, it's not something that would have me coming back for another hung over sausage. I was then guided into another room as the card machine wouldn't work at our table. Overall, it seems that they are aiming at one group and looking at pushing anyone else away. If you like to play golf on your yacht on the weekends and need somewhere to spend that 50 you found in the footwell of the Bentley away from the riff raff, then this is the place for you. If you own a child that makes a mess and likes to talk then you should probably stay away for fear of being paraded through the square with a bell, being shouted "SHAME" at for coming out of your hovvel.

Editing because the business has changed hands and it is a completely different to the business I reviewed originally. This always used to be a Tea house that, under various guises was very popular to the extent that you really had to book in advance. They offered a variety of traditional breakfasts, afternoon teas, cakes and ice creams. Now the hotel over the road has taken it on, it has become primarily a Bistro…. You can still get coffee and cake and indeed what is I’m sure is a very fine Afternoon Tea, but it is primarily a bistro. We visited Saturday lunchtime, expecting to be turned away as we had not booked in advance and it was empty…. A warning sign for any business of this type. I am certain it is a very fine Bistro - I don’t know because I’ve not tried that part of the business, but it is the wrong business for the site. Please can we have our Tea shop back?

Such a shame. A traditional tea house that served the best cakes locally had now gone bistro/wine bar. Normally it is packed on a Saturday lunchtime but it was dead. Choice of cakes not as good, and mostly small square pieces. No longer using pretty traditional cups and saucers, but instead trendy modern weird curved round cups and sauces. Prices of the breakfasts😱 and the rest of the food is fancy bistro expensive stuff, no sandwiches, unless you want a very expensive club sandwich with fries. Even the square carpark had plenty of spaces. Come on folks, realise you’ve made a mistake and stick to what this traditional building has always been for. Your losing a lot of customers.

In a group of 12 for brunch, we were delighted by the menu (vegetarians and others equally well catered for), by the friendly welcome and by the top quality service. Lily's Tearoom was characterised by pretty, if mismatched bone china, now it's beautiful Villeroy and Boch crockery. Judging the meal by the quality of the poached eggs, my mushrooms (with garlic and thyme), poached eggs and bubble & squeak on sourdough toast was excellent. Definitely recommended, you won't be disappointed.

Had a lovely time here with girlfriends. The place has been completely renovated and has a different ambience which will work during the evening too. Had the most delicious double baked cheese soufflé with freshly baked sour dough bread. What's not to like?

Lovely coffee, vegan cake was delicious, and dog friendly too. This is for the previous Tea Room Having visited today (MAY 23) in its new setup, less than impressed. Expensive, not so friendly or cosy, small portions and not great flavours. Coffee was very nice, however the crafted cup is only OK if you are right handed, very difficult to hold as a left hander. Not likely to return, it's lost its charm!

First time since it has been under new ownership and very underwhelmed. Staff didn’t seem to know what each other was up to, took ages to order and when the food arrived it was luke warm, small portions and generally bland. Not impressed for the price and not much atmosphere :(

Nice place . We hadn't booked but were given a table, the only downside was it was next to the toilets , so a lot of traffic 🤔 not ideal. Steak sandwich was excellent 👌. Afternoon tea was nice but would have thought it would have come with either tea or coffee. Scones were warm and very fresh. The raspberry mousse was delicious 😋. One quarter of a sandwich, tiny cheese wrap but tasted excellent.

Despite being "the most haunted building" in Wickham, the Old Tea House Wine Bistro will not scare you! Great service and selection of wines. A great addition to wonderful Wickham!

We have been coming to Lily’s for years and loved it. But it is no longer the cosy tearoom is used to be. The afternoon tea use to be lovely, a real treat and such a lovely experience too. Now half a sandwich, a tiny wrap, no choice of fillings, tiny cakes and scones, and the price has gone up. So disappointed.

We had a lovely evening, glad to see the revival of The Old Tea House has retained its charm. Not too sure about the “suits” which appear a little dated and don’t seem to fit the vibe of the place, but the sharing platters, tapas, specials, and wine are all very enjoyable. All together a very pleasant evening, and we will come back

PLEASE NOTE: this place has changed its offering and style so the reviews for price, food and pictures from a few months or few years ago are not what you will experience if you go now (they are reviewing Lillys) and I would recommend checking their website for the updated menu and food choices. Rather than a cafe this has avery different style with formal table service and Bistro. They still offer drinks so we chose to sit outside to have these, they are quite pricey for what we had and we wouldnt go again for just day-time drinks when passing through, like we used to. We choose the milkshakes and a coffee. The milkshakes were mixed with a lot of blitzed ice (one cube was still at the bottom) which changed the texture and made it a bit watery. The coffee was okay. * Apologies I can't work out how to reply to the message from the owner. The milkshakes were a different recipe and substantially smaller so while the same price we didn't get the same quantity or quality. I appreciate it may not be the same for the majority of the rest of the menu.

First visit to our new local wine bar, cosy atmosphere on a Saturday night and open late which is fab for a chilled evening! Brilliant loyalty card system to use on the self serve wine machines which you can re load for future visits! Staff are really lovely and cannot wait to return for more tasting 🥂🍾

First time visiting since it’s changed, had a lovely lunch with my family. I’m gluten free & they were able to offer GF bread for the sandwiches plus some other options 😊 want to come back for breakfast soon! Our waitress with the blonde hair (sorry I didn’t catch your name) was really friendly & helpful - thank you!

A nice afternoon tea, but I feel it’s lost some of its charm in the refurbishment - it now feels very high end, the menu doesn’t feel very family friendly either. I saw a few families leaving as they couldn’t find anything to eat.

The small team at Clos du Marquis have created something special here - great food, attentive & professional service, welcoming atmosphere and of course superb French food and lovely wines. This makes CduM a highly recommended, intimate, must visit restaurant in lovely Stockbridge.
