Great place to stay with family and really helpful staff. Waqar helped us a lot as we were staying here for the first time. Food was nice and portions were good.
Huge plus for us as we can walk from our cottage but not a problem to park up in the village in the evening. Proper village pub that did so much for the community during the dark hours of the pandemic. Has undergone a very good overhaul of the whole pub which works well. Food was excellent and our table of 6 ranged from 17 years to 70 so lots of different dishes. 100% worked, from nachos to curries. (Always good as the special curry chef makes several and they are all extremely authentic) all those years of flying long haul makes me extremely picky.
New management but retaining old and experienced faces, what could be better. Fish and chips naturally as we are right by the sea here, superb, and chipped potatoes right on the mark. Good value, great ambiance, can be a little busy on quiz nights but that is village life which cheerfully embraces visitors and tourists.
Stopped for lunch, and had sandwiches with cakes, they were ok, but not the best crab sandwich I had on my trip to the IOW, but ok. Cakes the same, ok nothing more.
Service good, but just felt it was lacking something, and the place looked tired and in need of a refurb.
What an exceptional hotel. We were lucky to stay in the apartment. Whilst it’s a walk from the main hotel and restaurant area it was a beautiful place to spend a few days on the island. The staff who help with breakfast and cleaning are a credit to the two managers. Everyone is so lovely and the husband and wife team couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. We would not hesitate to stay again. The perfect location in striking distance of the whole island.
The only small thing would be to have at least a King size bed. The double is rather small.

Sadly the lamb mint pie was not the best. The sausages had no taste. I did ask the staff to give my feedback to the chef so things could improve. Even the vegetables were unappealing.

What an amazing place to get to see where Mermaid Gin is actually distilled! As regulars to the IOW and the pub, in it's previous form being where my husband (as a child) stopped at for lunch after the ferry and en route to their campsite... It already held memories. So we popped in on our way home to pick up a bottle of gin... It was early so we were the only ones there. Immediately, we were greeted by a charming man who directed us to the shop and up popped Ebony from behind the counter. Full of smiles and simply a joy to talk to... So lovely! Came for a bottle of gin and ended up buying rum, salt vodka, a sea towel, bar slade, tote bag and a bar runner! Didn't get the chance to eat but the stunning interior and menu made me feel sad that we had a ferry to catch... Plus, we could have chatted with Ebony for ages given the chance! The bottles are now in, what used to be my utility but has somehow become, Gary's bar! Will definitely return to see Ebony and enjoy the sofa's, cushions and food! Thank you xx
Great food, good value, friendly helpful staff.
My go to when in Ryde instead of going to other local outlets which are the opposite.
Often have to queue but worth the wait.

We had a fantastic afternoon during our Cocktail Masterclass with Kieron.
Kieron demonstrated every step of making the perfect cocktails, while having a fun time. He clearly knows his way around the cocktail menu. Thank you
Service was excellent. I ordered the breakfast and my daughter had cheese jacket potato. Both were delicious and came out piping hot. Defiantly worth a visit.
Lovely staff and garden - much needed after a walk up to the monument! The scones and coffee were excellent and the little shop next door full of interesting Isle of Wight memories.
Such rude staff member made to feel unwelcome by a load of gossiping old ladies. Old outdated over priced. Very unprofessional and food hygiene looks terrible
