French Franks in Isle of Wight

Lovely fresh sandwiches, plenty of tempting choices and we all really enjoyed our choices of panninis, wraps and baguettes. Great, friendly service, and plenty of hot and cold drinks to choose from. I recommend a smoothie as mine perked me up and was really refreshing.

Recommended to call in here for lunch, ordered a couple of takeaway baguettes that were very tasty. Efficient service and good value.

Was very busy, queue out of the door but staff were quick & efficient. Large & varied menu to cater for most tastes/diet requirements. I had the bacon, brie & camembert panini, very tasty with plenty of ingredients, also a mango yogurt shake. Would recommend which was nice & thick, tasty & beautifully cold! A lovely lunch!

3 of us came here every morning for breakfast at 8am for the 4 nights we all stayed at the nearby Travelodge. Very clean, modern and the outside had been freshly painted. Very nice food and friendly staff. Great cup of tea to. Highly recommended.

My hot food order was taken and prepared even though the customers before me were waiting for large drink orders. By the time I was served my drink and paid, my hot baguette was Cold... Not good first impression.....of my first visit to a French Franks...

My absolute favourite place for lunch, coffee, cake and heavenly frozen yoghurt Froyo’s! Fresh, delicious salads, wraps, baguettes and more. All hand made with care and attention in front of you. Lovely spot to people watch, light, bright and sunny. The staff are always super efficient and friendly as well. My favourite thing in the world is their banana froyo’s - there are to die for.

Second time visiting here and not disappointed. Lovely staff, good setting. Had coronation chicken baguettes which were yummy. Will go to again when next in Ryde shopping.

Well me my wife and her cousins hubbie called into the Ryde French Franks shop.... Wow no complaints from either of us.... I had the New Yorker... Smoked salmon with cream cheese.... My wife had the Italian and the cousins husband had the Bang Bang wrap omg we all enjoyed our choices and could not fault them. Would we go there again.... Too right....

We came to this cafe for lunch in April. There were some baguettes that had already been named so you could choose from those but I ended up selecting my own fillings. They had pretty much everything I was after. Also ordered another baguette, cake, vanilla milkshake and cappuccino. All the food was above my expectations. Really yummy and would definitely visit again. I feel like the interior could be improved as it has quite a basic look. The serving area could be much more attractive. It didn't reflect the quality of the food.

I came in here to get food after leaving the pub oposite swiftly! It was night and day compared the where i was, the staff were polite and the food was great!

The food from French Franks is always a treat. Freshly made, excellent quality and your staff are lovely people. Tiny minor issue. Quite often we order via go eats when undertaking online training and the orders have had errors like missing a drink when two of the same ordered or sending a baguette instead of a salad. This has always been put right but when we order in it is to save time and if you could just double check before you send the order out it would be amazing.

The milkshakes here are fantastic, really thick and milkeshakey. The line was abit longer than i would have liked but that is more a testiment to the quaility of the food

I always rely on a French Frank's for quality and efficiency, a big treat for me, today's baguette was rancid. Watery juice seeped through grey salmon onto prawn sauce, it visually looked a heaped mess, not made with Love.

Called in here whilst passing and like others have said, I like to support local businesses. The place looks very nice but I felt the food was mediocre at best. I hate to say it but the larger chain sandwich shop is much tastier.

I was recommended this place. All I can say is that it was disappointing. It’s like a poor attempt at been a Subway but they forgot to tell the owners to lower their prices to match the decor and food. First and last visit. Shame.

I took a couple of clients to Ryde and found myself apologising to them after a visit to French Franks. The guy who served us in Ryde was obnoxious and downright rude. Whoever owns the place needs to question their recruitment policy. I’ve had better service in McDonalds.

Picked up a couple of baguettes on a hit Saturday afternoon. A good system with current covid restrictions. Delicious bread using home made coleslaw, cooked ham...the treats were delicious particularly the millionaires shortbread. Would definately recommend - good value for money and the drinks were fairly priced

I am new to the island, tried to visit with my dog. Was informed that dogs were not allowed inside only at the 2 tables outside which were taken. In a town where every other food establishment is dog friendly, very disappointing.

Perfect spot to people watch whilst enjoying a cup of coffee. Wide choice of sandwich fillings; my personal favourite blue cheese and avocado on white. Helpful friendly staff and plenty of filling in your sarnie!😊

Went in and had 1 person in front of me. There were 4 members of staff and it wasn’t particularly busy. After waiting 10 mins and not even being acknowledged the girl with black hair stopped her cleaning and packing away to ask me what I would like. Why did I have to watch you clean for 10 mins? I made eye contact like 5 times????? So anyway I put my order in and watched as my baguettes were made at a painfully slow pace. Defo in need of some training....Fantastic food, very poor customer service

This is a busy coffee shop in the centre of Ryde. They do a good selection of teas and coffees. If you want something to eat, they do a good selection of cakes and salads. They have a loyalty card for drinks.

I visit french franks a couple of times a week, being pregnant and only working a minute or so away, its completely accessible for me! The staff are lovely and so friendly, nothing is too much trouble! Delicious food and coffee, with a great selection! The roast pork with crackling and stuffing is a MUST!!

Freshly prepared? Tick Great choice of fillings? Tick Friendly service? Tick Busy at peak times? Yes but that's because it's good! Well worth a visit for a wrap, sandwich, baguette or salad

Stopped off for a bite to eat whilst walking round Ryde. Food was amazing. Especially the Caesar salad!!! The Chicken, Avocado and very crispy bacon baguette was delicious too! Would definitely recommend!!!

On arrival in Ryde we looked for somewhere to get some food and by chance stumbled upon ‘French Franks’ so pleased we did. The food we ordered was marvellous and thoroughly enjoyed by us all. Would visit again next time we are in Ryde.

I visited French Franks on a day trip to the Island following a recommendation from a friend. I have to say, the staff are the most friendly I have come across on the island. I was served by a young lady who was very polite and patient and made the most delicious crispy bacon classic baguette.

Told to sit outside because we had a dog, get that , but there are ways to do it, a smile , a I am sorry but, goes a long way. The manager was very curt I felt, won't be going back.

So went in today (8th June) to get a sandwich and a drink after lovely afternoon swimming session with my two boys only for the whole day to be completely ruined by uninterested and quite frankly rude staff. We arrived and I seated my two boys at a table in front of the serving counter then went to join the line which was 4 or 5 customers long. So after 15 minutes and despite the person in front of me being served had still not had my order taken. Worse still was completely ignored by all the staff who seemed to be more concerned with clearing down despite the time being just after 3 o'clock and the advertised close of business of 5 o'clock. Was not offered an explanation or apology for the wait. Disgusted I packed up our belongings and left. Even holding he door open for the so called manager who didn't ask or question why we were leaving empty handed. Unbelievable. Unfortunately seems to be a recurring theme of what passes for customer service on the Island.

We were searching round Ryde for somewhere to have lunch and we found French Franks. There was 7 of us eating in total and we all had great food and good service. Caramel latte and home made lemonade were exceptional.

Ordered a baguette and was delightful with fair prices, would visit again. However, I find the additional price when eating in unnecessary and should be included as part of the experience of ordering food.

Its OK but better places in Ryde not cheap / service is slow / In a good visible position but to small making it very cramped hence on top of one another. Not suitable for disabled to small and cramped toilets down stairs.

We were glad to find the café still open at 4.30 on a bleak Saturday afternoon. Though one member of staff was cleaning in one half of the café, we were told it was fine to come in still. Service was friendly and quick. We really enjoyed our tea and varied cakes and it is an interesting spot to watch life going by, with lots of glazing. Perfect spot all in all. Highly recommend..

Hard to make a decision as all looked fresh and appetizing! Four of us had a late breakfast while staying at the nearby Travelodge. The hot bacon baguette was so tasty and the accompanying latte really good. All enjoyed their choices and look forward to returning to Ryde and this fantastic eatery.

Lots of different fillings to go with baguettes . There are wraps and pitta bread. Coffee is really good too. Staff are friendly and welcoming and knowledgeable.

Always have a baguette here and a froyo shake, both are so lovely. However, today on my visit the cucumber wasn’t at all fresh, it was old, soggy, off coloured, tasted disgusting. Really offputting and I had to pick it all out and this wasn’t great. Each slice was the same, so I was quite unhappy. Normally, my baguette is fantastic and I can never fault them until today. Will definitely be back, but please make sure everything is fresh

I was so impressed with the staff. My children can be fussy eaters but the staff went out of their way to make delicious food in just the way my two loved. They even gave my daughter a taste of the soup to try before she decided what to eat. The food was extremely tasty and all that was left was empty plates. Fantastic place for a family lunch.

I enjoyed a lunch here after getting off from the Wightlink ferry and ambling up the high street. The cafe was absolutely buzzing, with a queue almost stretching out the door. There were a huge array of lunch options, from baguettes to sandwiches to salads to soup and more.

If you just want a sandwich to eat in plus a tea/coffee you can’t beat this place. Lots of seating and friendly staff. They have a wide selection of fillings for sandwiches and certainly don’t skimp on the portions!

We popped in here on our way to the ferry in Fishbourne. Large selection of fillings and hard to decide but we settled for bacon,chicken and avocado. We were not disappointed.Plenty of filling and served beautifully. Sat by the window and watched the world go by as we ate and had two coffess as well. The only down side was when my partner used the gents. The cleanliness left a lot to be desired.

Found this place by accident, managed to sit outside and watch the world go by, as it was comes week there was plenty to watch

Had a nice prawn sandwich but I was put off eating it. The server wore gloves so as not to cross contaminate and so she did come into direct with my food. However once the sandwich was made she took off her glove and pressed the bread down with her hand, cut the sandwich and transferred it to my plate; surely she should've keep the gloves on throughout the entire sandwich making process.

Great sandwich and snack offering but please,please clean up especially as the filthy dust is just above the food prep counter

I go in a few times a week and have the same caesar salad, plenty times I've gone in and had lots of chicken and just the right amount of bacon, however lately I seem to end up being served by the same person, unsure of her name, tall, thin, dark hair, pale complexion. She gives me 4 small bits of chicken and 2 massive handfuls of bacon with not much lettuce! Please can you sort your staff out, consistency is key! (I know I'm a chef!) Hopefully next time I'm this will be rectified, apart from that fab place to eat and the froyo's are the best!!

Had a lovely quick lunch here this week I've not been in for ages not for any particular reason just change of habit but had a couple of nice baguettes and great coffee. Wil be back soon

We stopped off in the Newport branch to grab a quick lunch as a family, the waitresses were friendly and served everyone quickly. With all fillings in front of you and the fresh salads it was perfect as everything was on offer. A range of breads and fillings was ideal and tasted fresh!

The cafe was very busy which shows how popular it is! We went for lunch and had a mix of both hot and cold food and drinks. The food here is great and is also reasonably priced. This place is very popular with the locals and shows when you visit.

Had a very nice lunch here with family. I had a sausage roll followed by a slice of apple and cinnamon cake - which was delicious and definitely my highlight! My fellow diners had a Brie and bacon panini and a Greek salad which they both throughly enjoyed.

Stopped into French Franks on the way to the RedJet. Have eaten here a few times before and have always been quite impressed. The food is very yummy, would definitely recommend the Chicken Caesar Wrap, and the coffee is excellent. Only one comment is that it’s really quite pricey. Overall not a bad place to stop for a quick bite to eat.

Stopped here twice during a 3 day trip to the Island. The staff were great and the coffee is better and far less expensive than anything you’d get at Starbucks or Costa!

I spend FAR to much money each week in here... in fact a Saturday wouldn’t truly be a Saturday without a visit! It’s not fussy, over-complicated or a particularly genius concept, and it’s non-apologetic for this. But that’s why it works. The food is consistently tasty and always fresh, and the team are wonderful with a capital W..... friendly, helpful, funny, relaxed and on first name terms with the vast majority of their customers. With other branches in Newport and Cowes, the Ryde French Franks is most definitely the best, situated in an enviable town centre location perfect for people watching via the floor to ceiling windows. Newspapers are available to read and you only have to look around to see that French Franks appeals to all sorts.... from the Ryde School yummy mummy’s with their prawn & avocado wraps to the little old man nurturing his piping hot cup of tea, and everyone else in-between!
