In terms of hotel each Premier Inn is pretty much the same as another. The room was clean, super comfy bed and lovely deep bath. The thing that made this place particularly special was the staff at the hotel. Liam in the restaurant and also Simon the chef are a huge asset to this hotel and made the stay even more enjoyable and would certainly go back due to them.

A return visit 5 years since our last. Has gone downhill a lot. Premier plus room was pretty shabby and not worth the extra we paid. Curtains badly ripped, carpet in very poor shape. Both have surely needed replacement for many months, if not a year or more. In room fridge was as much use as a chocolate tea pot. Running very hot and stuff inside not cool, so a pointless facility. Loo seat in the bathroom very badly stained underneath, so has not been cleaned properly for a long time. The room & hotel as a whole shouts out "cutbacks & money savings and a lack of investment in maintenace". But its not unique to Merrie gardens, I have also observed this in other Premier Inns over the past year. Staff pretty friendly - no issues there. Breakfast offering has gone down a notch since Covid. Very little for a Gluten intolerent vegetarian hence we go elsewhere. The beds have changed since last time and are nowhere near as good / comfy as previously but this is no doubt, again, a Premier Inn issue as a whole not just an Isle of Wight issue. Suffice to say Premier Inns are not the quailty they were 4 years ago and the steady decline is continuing.

Really impressive place all things considered. Located in a great place, literally have nothing bad to say…. Although. One suggestion if I may. Please PLEASE put windows that open (even if it’s those ones with small parts to open at the top), it honestly felt like we were in a vacuum with no fresh air. I understand for a ground room but surely it could be better designed. Cabin fever I think the phrase is?

The most friendliest and helpful hotel staff I have ever met. We only stayed for 3 nights but things could not have been better. The room, the food and the service were first class.

A bit out of the way, but if you are on the island for business and have transport then it’s great value for money. Usual standard for Premier Inns, a nice clean example of one

No WiFi. Couldn't get data either. So completely cut off from everyone. That was the biggest gripe with this hotel. The other thing the view from outside my room was not very nice. A disused portaloo. Not a pretty sight !

Typical Premier Inn what you see is what you get. 3rd time staying here fulfills all our needs. Thanks to all the staff for their support. It is a great pity more money is not put into the Sandown infrastructure town looks dilapidated and run down. Too many empty shops. No central retail hub though out skirts plenty of industrial units. Still a very beautiful island loads spring flowers and primroses.

10 out of 10 for everything. The facilities, service, food choices and quality. The bed was so comfy- had the best night's sleep. The shower was amazing and the breakfast was second to none. Would definitely recommend and we will be using Premier Inn again

We stay at many premier inns, and this was the worst. Waited quite a while to check in, and the room they gave us had a strong smell of damp, so we asked to move. The chef wouldn't help at all with warming up my daughters food despite the fact that he said he microwaves everything, obviouslywe didnt eat there! He was rude and offered no assistance at all. We went to the pub opposite, who were only too pleased to help. This hotel needs an inspection and soon it's horrible! We won't go near it again. I have to be honest and say how helpful the cleaner was, though. She at least gave us one thing positive to leave with.

Absolutely superb Salmon fillet. Drizzled in a sublime sauce. New Potatoes as advertised. Only let down by the complete lack of sparklers on any of the ale pumps. But that's a southern/northern divide
