Great gin and pizza. We ate on a Tuesday during half term and had a lovely dinner. The staff were friendly and the pizzas were lovely.

This is a good place to visit. Home the Mermaid Gins and salt vodka, also spiced and Navy Rum. For £9 you can get a tasting board with 6 for you to try. The pub is spacious with a nice terrace. There's a free carpark attached. It's all at ground level with space between tables, so I'd say it's wheelchair accessible. On this occasion we didn't eat, but on previous visits we have enjoyed a decent meal. Worth a visit, I think.

Pretty average experience. Food was very good. Service wasn't great. Menus near the door but no indication if we should stand and wait there or go to the bar. Told to grab our own menus after being pointed to the table. No table service so had to write everyone's order down on a scrap of paper and take that to the bar. Unable to get the bill after the meal -:had to pay everything in advance. Not the best experience unfortunately.

Not much to see but good service. A good place to visit if you have a spare 5 minutes...

This is a little gem of a place. The staff are really friendly and can mix some great drinks. We had food and a few rounds of drinks over the bank holiday. The food was lovely and the drinks were great. Thanks to all the staff who are super friendly!

Lovely food, great choice of beers etc, the staff are friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable about the Gin, Vodka and Rum that is distilled on site. Definitely worth a visit.

Really enjoyed their roast , they told us it was their first day severing roast. Would definitely eat there again . You have to try the Eton mess. Best I've ever had . Thankyou and the cocktails amazing x

Absolutely wonderful, go to venue. So much to like - try the tasting samples of spirits made on site. Take the tour. Sit, relax, enjoy, repeat 😁 All provided by wonderfully attentive and helpful staff.

Called in to try one of their “tasting paddles”. Really excellent and enthusiastically supported by knowledgeable staff. Went on to have lunch which was very good and then had cocktails before catching the bus back to St Helen’s. A great lunchtime/afternoon out. We sat outside in the sunshine late September. Excellent !

Lovely evening for two at this place. It is at The Wishing Well pub, just so you don't get as confused as I did with this on the sat nav. I'm a fan of Mermaid Gin and was introduced to the wonders of Mermaid Spiced Rum when I visited...yum 😋. It's bar service not table service. The menu has starters, mains, burgers, pizzas, desserts. Didn't see a kids menu, but might just be due to it being evening. Food was delicious! Presented well and good portions. Drinks, yummy gin and rum cocktails.

Wow! What a find! We thought we’d pop in to check out the gin and we ended up spending the whole afternoon and evening there! We were greeted by the lovely Josh who was so knowledgeable about gin and really made us feel welcome and after a guided tour of the distillery he suggested we try the gin tasting paddle. It was only £9 and worth every penny, we shared the 8 little shots and the bar supplied us with complimentary Fevertree mixers! The gin and rum selections were sensational and we just had to buy a couple of bottles to bring home. We then spent a few hours chilling and chatting to Josh and the rest of the staff and decided that we couldn’t go home without trying their gluten free pizzas! So we headed over to the restaurant area and enjoyed pizzas and loaded fries. We then made our way to the comfy leather sofas in front of the welcoming log burner and ordered a Banana Rumba cocktail ( lovingly made by Josh who was a real master cocktail maker !!) and an Affogato with a shot of hot coffee and spiced rum! We didn’t want to leave and honestly it really made our visit to the Isles of White memorable. Couldn’t recommend the Mermaid bar enough! Honestly it’s fab and we can’t wait to go back.

Lovely afternoon trying all their drinks

*Food not rated as we did not eat* Popped in to try some of the spirits and was pleasantly surprised to find they did a tasting board for £9 which covers all of their spirits, with a shot of tonic to go with it. I'd recommend sharing one with a partner if you plan on driving, as the board is roughly a shot and a half of spirits each - better yet, get a taxi! Personal favourite for me was the spiced rum, but couldn't justify the price for a full bottle (even though it would make a nice lamp when empty). The bar and outdoor area give a great atmosphere to unwind and enjoy a drink. The staff were all very friendly and even offered a treat to our dog. Speaking of which, dogs are welcome in the entire bar and we were offered treats on arrival by the bar staff and again by another staff member later. The Distillery itself isn't dog friendly (fair enough!) but you can look through the viewing windows if you wanted to see the process in action from the comfort of your table. We very much enjoyed our hour in the sunshine tasting spirits and would happily come again!

Excellent place to eat and drink. Ideal for a sunny and rainy day

Booked the day before for 7pm. Arrived at 7 at was seated. We were given the menu and were deciding what to drink and eat and eventually a member of staff came over about 7.20 and told us the kitchen closed at 7.30! We ordered and our meal arrived, which was ok but we were not able to order dessert as the kitchen was closed!!! Why were we not told to order desert with our main meal??? We will not be going back although it is just a short walk to the distillery we will be driving to a local inn!

Lovely time, food was amazing and the cocktails were scrumptious! Well worth a visit and very easy to get too if you don’t want to drive.

Had a fab evening! We popped in the day before for a drink and a gin tasting, decided we liked the look of the menu and booked for dinner. Both visits the staff were friendly and helpful. I’m not sure what a gin tasting elsewhere looks like… but we were quite pleased that there was enough in each shot that 3 of us could have a good taste and still walk out without assistance. The Navy rum and Navy gin will def slow you down! Dinner was really good and the portions are quite big- the fish and chips more than filled the plate. Mermaid Burger was lovely. Daughter had Eton Mess to finish and said it was wonderful. Ended up buying 4 bottles + the 5 5cl flavours, along with several empties for decorative purposes (the bottles are GORGEOUS and the £5/ea goes to charity). 10/10 would definitely come back.

We decided to go to the Mermaid Bar at the Isle of Wight Distillery. The vibes were cool, and the menu selection was vast. We didn’t eat food but did have some cocktails. I opted for the Mermaid Margarita, which was punchy but sweet. Using the Mermaid Vodka and tequila, the mix finishes with a seaside-like feel of a drink.

Fantastic afternoon at The Mermaid Bar with family. The Tasting Bar was such great value and experience where we were talked through the process of their distillery for each spirit. All staff very friendly and helpful. Food was excellent as were the yummy cocktails - banana rumba being our favourite special! You can also buy merchandise and they have a lovely collection.

Had a lovely time here for a friend's birthday party 🍕🥂 Unfortunately I wasn't actually a fan of the pizza, it looked really nice but tasted abit strange. I think this was just my opinion as everyone else seemed to enjoy their food ☺️ Would definitely return, the cocktails are delicious!

Lovely bar with a great selection of cocktails and beers. Really friendly staff, family friendly and it was great to play board games with the littlen whilst having a few drinks on our break to the isle of wight.

Birthday party drinks evening was a great success and thanks to the team at the Mermaid who looked after us.

Finally got a booking after a few times they’ve cancelled due to kitchen issues. Even the night we turned up (they had minor kitchen issues) some things I don’t get. Example - kids chicken nuggets and chips £5, starter of chicken bites £7. They are the same dish! I was disappointed to be eating the same meal as my daughter only to pay more for less. The food is nice but it’s standard pub food, nothing special (to me anyway). Drinks are amazing and the staff are nice. It’s worth a visit..

First time there today. It was really busy but all the team were attentive and helpful. Food was lovely. Went for the salad as wasn't too hungry....it was massive and very tasty. The gin of course was sublime

Great Inn. Close to where we stayed. Visited twice in our 5 night stay. Very friendly and efficient staff. Wife and daughter loved the cocktails. Had a really good steak. We loved it.

On staying in a new self catering place. The vineyard.we decided to try the wishing Well has it is only stone throw away fron where we're staying.we we're advised to book to avoid disappointment. To which we did on arriving we were shown to our table a d perused over the menus. Having made our choices the order's were placed. Then it went down hill from there. we ordered our starter's that was fine. but then the confusion with the mains the crayfish wan on then off then on then offhaving changed 2 of the mains to lamp shanks on arrival the lamb shanks came without red cabbage did not also the burger did not come with onionrings.so o er

Excellent friendly and professional service. Great range of reasonably priced drinks. Food was great, only qualm being a steak ordered rare came oddly cooked such that it was well done at one end and medium at the other.

Recommend the gin board 6 samples all different for £5 . You can take dogs and sit outside excellent food . You can see the distillery and buy the gin vodka and rum

We were really looking forward to this lunch out, unfortunately the experience was very disappointing. We booked two days before and discussed vegan options with the venue on the phone. Despite the limited options (one main, one dessert) we booked anyway. After placing our order at the bar, the waitress came to the table to returned explain the vegan burger was not available and shouldn't have been listed on the menu. The waitress suggested I could have the haloumi and mushroom burger. We politely explained that this contained diary so wasn't an option but suggested maybe just a mushroom burger instead. We asked if the waitress could talk to the chef and suggest what might be possible. Upon return, we were advised that burger came in brioche bun and there were no other buns, but pizza was an option. We asked for the mermaid pizza with no cheese, no parma ham and added olives and spinach. Upon arrival the pizza arrived with cheese on. We waited some time for the waitress to come back with ketchup for my partners food and ended up taking the pizza back to the bar for a remake, only to be told the bases are pre made with cheese on but they did have some without so would re make. To be honest at this point, I didn't feel like waiting any longer so I asked if the order could be cancelled and instead be refunded. The waitress (a different one) went to talk to the kitchen and processed the refund. The waitress who we spoke with at the table then appeared and told me the kitchen had just found a gluten free base. Again, I explained, (as did the waitress processing the refund) that gluten free didn't mean no diary. My parters regular burger was very dry and overcooked and we also overheard a bar staff member explaining what scampi was to another customer. "Scampi is just another type of fish" ... this was a little concerning to hear given scampi is shellfish and one of the 14 major allergens. Overall disappointing and a concerning lack of understanding about food and allergens from two of three members of staff we encountered. We had intended on purchasing two bottles of the gin but didn't really feel like paying out after the experience, what at £39 each a bottle plus the refund, that's nearly £100 missed out on today.

Seems a nice, clean venue. Mix up with the food, only two tables eating including ours. Waited on one meal by the time it arrived ours was cold.

Absolutely lovely place we visit every time we go to the Isle if Wight. The food is amazing and I love sticking up in my gin collection. The taster board is well worth a fiver

Our family of 4 really enjoyed our pitstop at The Mermaid Bar. Delicious food, lovely drinks, friendly service. I loved the paddle of tasters of gins, vodka and rum. Would recommend if you are in the area! You can even buy the gorgeous empty bottles of mermaid gin for £5 ( goes to charity!).

The worst service I believe I’ve ever had at a pub/restaurant.. if we’d have been told they were understaffed and the food would be an hour wait we probably wouldn’t have bothered.. after being seated by a member of staff our table of four then had to sit for around 10-15 minutes before we finally managed to grab a server and order some drinks .. after they came we overheard a table across ask another member of staff where there food was as they’d been waiting an hour so the alarm bells starting to ring.. when we were ordering our first drinks our wsiter informed us that they were understaffed and he normally just made the drinks at the bar and never worked out front and didn’t properly know how to use the tablet he was taking our order on…finally after a 55 minute our food arrived and thankfully it was really, really good which was a massive relief… we saw at least 3 tables get up and walk out because of the shocking service which was a shame as it’s a nice place in a prime location… sadly we’ll never bother again!!

Very quick visit as we were passing. The distillery is actually at the Mermaid Inn and you can see the Still at work through a glass partition. We enjoyed a tasting board of the various gins and the vodka (very nice). Although we did not stop for food the menu looked interesting. Top Tip: bring a designated driver.

Food was appalling both my wife and friend had mussels the sauce looked like dishwater a chicken burger was cold & service was very poor it was like the chefs favourite tool was the microwave

What a disappointment as keen gin drinkers we were excited to try the local Mermaid Gin, but upon arriving we discovered that the building was just a pub with a tiny tasting extension on the back. We were ignored by staff, then when we were served, our gin tasting was a tray of luke warm shots with only one shot of sugary tonic. How are we meant to try this properly? We were sat down for all of 5 minutes, decided to take away a sample bottle of Gin to try properly at home, and discovered it was grossly over priced compared to all other shops that sell it on the island! And after complaining to staff were still asked to pay for the samples. If you’d like to try their gin, you’re better off ordering a Gin & Tonic at any pub on the island.

Came here while visiting the distillery. The pub itself is a beautiful building with lovely seating and staff. We didn’t stop to eat but the food looked amazing and we will be back to try it. Nice inside and outside area with a great balcony at the back overlooking the fields. The inside was clean and nice looking. Bit of a country pub feel but not at all dated. Great selection of drinks and lots of space and seating.

Stopped here whilst cycling around the island. Heavy rain causing flooding and road closures - needed shelter. Coffee only consumed (!) but folk very accommodating and helpful giving us directions to circumvent the closures and enabling us to complete our ride! Must return for a gin or two…….

We really only went to visit the distillery, sample the products and buy a bottle (or two). However, we stayed for a fantastic lunch, enjoyed in the sunny courtyard under a wide parasol. The staff were friendly, efficient and very knowledgable about the gins, vodka and rum on offer. Try the sampler for £5 which let's you try 5 generous shots. By the way, we bought three bottles 😆

Lovely cocktail menu. We had a great time out for drinks. Would be great to also be able to order snacks/food, although they did rustle us up some olives on request.

Arrived & told someone would be over to take our order. 10 mins later no one had come. we watched 3 bar staff less than 5ft away from us playing on their phones. Left without a drink while another customer complaining about the quality of theirs. Very disappointing

Had a nice meal in the bar, very good pizza, excellent staff, very dog friendly. Not keen on Mermaid Gin tho, little bitter for my taste, prefer Silent Pool, or St Ives gin

We had a pizza and some sweet cakes. They have a small choice of food but reward is super quick service (for a restaurant). You can say these guys are pro when it comes to making drinks - these look as good as they taste. You can see green scenery from patio, and the gin distillery is amazing. Friendly and happy staff proves that the place is special.

Great place to visit with outside areas front and rear. As it's our 'local' at the end of our road, we've popped in a few times and it always quite busy, particularly in summer time.

With all the changes with covid19 that came into force last night they were having some trouble but saying that they were working well it would be nice to put the shop by distiller it would be easier for them but well done for trying to sort thing out

Went there for food, menu is fairly limited burger or pizza really. I had the Mermaid burger which was nice, well cooked.

Not a family place really, no child options on the menu, large play area is basically overgrown scrubland/field full of nettles and thistles. Absolutely not safe for children to play in. Food OK at best. Pizzas burned underneath.

booked a table that morning over the phone with a man who confirmed my reservation and advised an outside table. Arrived and no-one knew about my booking, was offered a table inside which we did not want and the staff gave off the impression that they really didn't care very much. No effort made to track down the person who took my reservation and was pretty much a case of tough! we were that offended by the way we were treated we left and ate elsewhere. Silly of them really because my intention was to purchase quite alot of gin as gifts! Would not recommend and staff, especially the young guy seeing to us, could do with a lesson in customer service.

What a fantastic place. Wanted to pop in here for ages as it's the home of the famous Mermaid Gin , just thought of having quick beer and have a look round (really cool bar layout with some comfy sofas) and next thing we know we are caught up in one of their free talks about the company, their gin and rum and free taster, fab! Very interesting delivered so well and was amazed at how this little unassuming looking place is such a global gin force now! The tasters were great their bottle design is direct from Venice and beautiful. So glad we popped in, no appointments just walk in and their you are in the headquarters of one of the world's premier gin producers. Really lovely place. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Stopped for a coffee and checked out distillery really interesting, not a great lover of gin lots of tasters available.
