Had a lovely Sunday roast yesterday 😊 roast lamb with all the trimmings. Chilling music in the garden with Ed on the guitar and cider in hand. What more could you want. Highly recommend this place 😃
Stay away from this restaurant. It has a policy of harassing people on the table if the next customer has arrived early. I agreed with the chef 3 days previously...his exact words than were "as long as you're in and out by 8, will be fine" and the waiter is my witness. My goal was to leave at 7:50, 7.55 at the latest .
I contacted the restaurant 25 minutes before arriving to ensure my starter would be ready to eat immediately upon arrival. This was to ensure there would be no problems nearer to 8pm. The starter was not ready when I arrived. I was the only person in the restaurant and I had to wait 15 minutes for the starter. This made a big difference to the evening.
At 7:50 the next people arrive and she tells me to vacate the table while I'm eating my dessert. I ignore her and carry on eating my dessert. 2 minutes later she tells me again to vacate the table. I ignore her as I am halfway through my dessert. At 7.55pm the next people were able to sit down.
Prioritising the next customer who's arrived early over the person on the table is guaranteed to lose the custom of the person on the table. The common sense thing to do was to leave me alone and let me finish my dessert and then she would have kept my custom but she'd rather lose my custom. I go to four restaurants a week and I've never seen anything like it.
This restaurant's policy of harassing customers on the table because the next customer has arrived early is losing customers and I suggest you don't even think of becoming a customer there, it was extremely rude.
I've been to 21 restaurants on the Isle of Wight and the red duster tops them all for rudeness, the sheer audacity of this place beggars belief.
Also, the chef's wife/waitress could not answer basic questions about the menu. I was astonished at her lack of knowledge of the menu.
She did not bother to understand the menu and her explanation was for this was because she was a vegetarian.
What a great night! We went there to celebrate my nieces birthday and we had a wonderful evening. Four of us sorted steak and there was one spaghetti Bolognese. The steaks were excellent. Mine was medium rare. It was cooked to a tea and the pepper sauce and fries with a perfect accompaniment. Will be coming back again.
Another fantastic dinner from chia wing.
Takeaway containers rammed to the top, the oyster sauce is amazing as are prawn crackers, can't wait to work through your wonderful menu.
Someone here knows what they're doing. Tried other local places, however this is the best as I'm a fussy beggar.
David.
Really delightful food, and great IoW Festival decor.
Staff were lovely.
Bathroom out back felt a little 'used', but overall lovely place for lunch or brekkie.
Had dinner here on Friday 23rd. Lovely pub on the river with outside seating. Pub was packed. We found our table and ordered food at the bar. Not particularly welcoming, I appreciate it was busy but still, this was our first visit so a bit of general information regarding ordering would have been good. Food was hot, mine was OK but my husbands fish overcooked and dry.
Music started.
The whole place started to empty about 8pm/8.30pm. As there were lots of families with young children.
We have returned a second year at this location. Everything in general is very good. There are some things that could use attention which I believe they are striving forward day by day to improve. There are very limited kitchen items (containers for storing food, different things that may arise for cooking, pizza pan). Overall it is pretty decent . Everyone who works here are really friendly, helpful and very curtious. I'll see how things turn out next year if I return. Great location near ferris wheel and al the shops just a short walk from the boardwalk out back at 14th ave.
The worst and soggiest calamari fritti I have ever had served, with overlarge salad and no dressing. Large dog carpeted the floor. Italian version of Mrs Overall waited on, in character. Huge rectangular comedy plate dwarfed the already tiny tables. My Italian relatives will not be coming here.
