Myself and my partner ordered as our first date night since having our baby. The batter of the chicken balls were undercooked and some of the chicken meat was pink. The prawns stank to high heaven, and some of the king prawns were raw. I phoned and spoke with Chai Wing. Who said we either take the food back down ourselves (as our first date night without baby we had a glass of wine and beer, we were not prepared to drive). They said they would give us free chicken balls on our next order. They couldn’t care less. We spent just over £37.. our entire meal went in the bin as completely put us off the rest. Absolutely appalling.

Fancied trying a new Chinese takeaway as a treat. It was inedible! Beef satay did not taste at all like a satay and the sauce was like glue. The chicken chow mein tasted of fish, very odd. The vegetable chow mein was so spicy it was again inedible and the sweet and sour chicken balls were like chicken donuts but not on a nice way. Very disappointing. Will not be ordering again.

Visited as had heard good reviews However the food did not live up to expectations it tasted weird Lemmon sauce tasteless beef chow main tasted strange as well as lemon chicken Had a few mouthfuls and threw the rest in bin Only good point is the prawn crackers were nice Won’t be back Would recommend trying one of the other Chineses in Newpor instead !!

Treated ourselves to a Chinese takeaway whilst on holiday...fantastic food -good sized portions and super hot. Fast service and good value for money.

Been getting food from here for over 30 years, nothing beats it. Came back to island to visit family and easily forced them all to have a 'Becky's' as we call it in our house and it didn't dissapointed. No chinese comes close as far as in concerned! We had sweet and sour balls, s&s Hong Kong style, curry and a spicy prawn dish woth various rices and sides, and salt n pepper chips that were to die for! Worry every penny, hot, tasty, I already can't wait for the next one!

Special Fried Rice - wasn't even fried, was boiled rice mixed with what looked like yesterday's leftovers. It looked like something the dog threw up. We have had takeaways from here for years and have always been excellent but this meal was revolting, not sure if the management has changed but won't be ordering from here again.

Since we have been introduced to Chia Wing 3 years ago we literally won't use another Chinese takeaway in Newport. Staff always friendly & food always good. My personal favourite is their Duck Chow Mein, but other dishes have always been of a great standard. Highly recommend, only shame is that they don't deliver.

Could not fault this place, tastey well cooked food, one of best chinese Ive eaten from. Over here on a week's break but definitely recommended this place.

Chia Wing is our regular go to place for Chinese food. The owners are friendly and welcoming and the food is delicious. The portions are good and it's value for money. What more can I say ? We usually have Chicken Satay as a main course with Singapore vermicelli noodles and a 1/4 crispy duck with pancakes. The sesame prawn toasts are delicious too ; ) Give this place a try, the premises are utilitarian, but the food is good.

We decided to visit Chia Wing whilst on holiday on the Island. We chose this business due to the reviews. For three of us, we chose a set meal for one, chips and extra rice. We really didn't need the extra rice. The portions were very large. The price was good too. I am intolerant to spices and onion and hubby forgot to mention this but none of the food was spicy thankfully. The chicken balls were really nice, not greasy at all. We had the extra rice a couple of days later as egg fried rice and a packet of micro rice and it was still really tasty. The only reason I have given four rather than 5 stars as it wasn't quite as good as our one from home and was a tad more expensive. But it was very close and we would certainly recommend them and would use again if staying nearby.

Absolutely disgusting meal. Picked this due to the reviews while staying on the Isle of Wight. Dry tasteless and inedible. I would avoid the chow meins for sure. Even the rice was rubbish and that’s basic!!! Gross meal and a complete waste of money.

This is my local Chinese take away and it never fails to deliver a good portion of food as well as good flavours there is a great selection of food however I'm quite set in my way and always get the same however it never fails to deliver a decent dinner.

Had all of the Chinese takeaways from Newport and would never go anywhere else. Previously would travel to kimbos in lake, but this is much more convenient. It's expensive, but rather that the the inedible slop served at No.1 Wok, Loys and Hong Kong Express. Very freindly staff too.

Fast and friendly service, but found the food disappointing and basic. The sauce on our duck was exactly the same as the sauce on the spare ribs, and the rest of the order was nothing to write home about 😕 just hoping that this ISN'T "the best on the island" as someone has said. Will definitely be trying out somewhere else next time.

With staying with my niece on the island, and with her far older husband having to be frequently taken into hospital, due to age and medical problems, and whilst my niece is a very good cook, I decided that on a couple of evenings that we should go and get a Chinese meal as a treat. Whilst some such Take-away's I've had meals from were somewhat mediocre, and their prices were not good value for money, nor merited by the quality of the food they served, this establishment was found to have been well chosen, as the meals that we bought were not only very good in taste, but also the portions filled the containers so that the lids were almost coming off. With finding out my niece's husband was in hospital, and I had travelled all the way down from above Inverness in Scotland to see and help her during her husbands many problems, we were surprised to be given a bag of Prawn Crackers completely free as a treat. As both of the meals we had were so good, it was decided that the following week we would again visit this place and whilst there were no free Prawn Crackers given, and were not expected either, the meals were again of a high standard in both quality, quantity, as well as Value for Money.

Lovely food great ,customer service and large portions. Wouldn't go to any other Chinese. Only thing I would say is its a shame they don't deliver anymore,hopefully they will resume this.

Stopped for evening takeaway after searching tripadvisor. Didn't disappoint, chicken satay nice as were king prawn balls and rice. Only challenge is parking up to go in, some bays in street in one way system.

Nos dieron una comida para llevar desde aquí anoche y fue muy buena. El menú es bastante variado y a un precio razonable. Teníamos una especial curry con arroz amigo de huevo, la sal y la pimienta de calamar y rollitos de primavera. El personal era muy amable y parecía un lugar muy agradable en el interior y bastante concurrida para un domingo. Muy sabrosa comida china.

After placing an order on the phone I was told food was to be collected at 17:15hrs.On arrival at said time the takeaway was shut,I waited outside and waited a few minutes. A worker then opened up the takeaway and asked what would I like,I explained I had ordered over the phone and gave my name.She went into the back and within seconds came out with my order already bagged and tagged which I thought didn't bode well as just 1 min ago the place was shut with not a light on.She then went through my order with me and all was as ordered over the phone.I went home with the food,when at home it transpired they had made a mistake with my order,missing a dish and another dish I hadn't ordered.My wife contacted the takeaway to explain and ask for a replacement.To say the man that answered was rude would be an understatement, he shouted at my wife repeatedly on the phone,he called her a liar and was very aggressive,needless to say no replacement was forthcoming.On eating the food it was disgusting,congealed tepid food,tasting over salty and greasy,in fact it was horrendous and had obviously been warmed up in a microwave.I will never ever go to this takeaway again and abuse my taste buds in this manner.Shocking service,shocking customer service,shocking food.AVOID
