Don't judge a book by it's cover. This place does look a bit jaded but don't let that out you off.. Our food was absolutely delicious

The customer service was good and the food was great and it came quickly the only thing I could say was wrong was that in the establishment itself there was no place to dine in. However taking it away was no trouble at all so i recommend it!

Great service. Perfectly explained and selected all dishes. Beef perfect (soft, juicy, well seasoned) pasta with vegetables very tasty but little sauce. Chicken in breadcrumbs in sweet and sour sauce, chicken very good, sauce clumpy and like in every Chinese restaurant when it cools down it turns into jelly, sweet with pieces of pineapple. I recommend

Food is amazing, I can deffinetly say you could be addicted to salt and pepper chips, salt and pepper chicken, chicken curry and dishes with black bean sauce. My favourite Chinese ever.

The BEST Chinese we've EVER had (we live near Heathrow). Not oily, not sickly sweet, fresh and just perfect. Even the prawn crackers were not OILY but dry and crispy and nice. The polish lady taking orders is so so lovely, helpful, cheerful and informative. Thank you!!! :) Can thoroughly recommend what we've ordered: Panckae roll, Crispy duck with pancakes, Peking spare ribs, Salt, pepper and garlic spare ribs, Sweet n Sour Pork balls, House special rice, Thai green curry. Very disappointing food. For some reason they put cloves (or something similar tasting) in the sweet and sour sauce. It's vile. Tastes like the dentist. They only give you a couple of fortune cookies even when ordering 4 meals, so not everyone gets one. Won't be ordering from here ever again.

No egg in the egg friend rice All the curries that were advertised as spicy were actually mild or extremely sweet. Very disappointed

I can't believe that Chinese food like this still exists. I do not mean this in the positive sense. The sweet and sour pork batter was soft and flabby; it tasted like pork encased in bread, whilst the meat was chewy. The sweet and sour sauce was like melted down jelly... It was almost luminescent. Our chicken stir-fry lacked flavour, with a watery sauce... if I hadn't ordered it, I would not have been able to tell you what flavour it was meant to be. Maybe I've been spoilt by the quality of the Chinese food in Australia, I'm not sure. But this just felt like a throwback to food from the 1980s when we didn't know any better.

Friendly and tasty, really kind lady who took my order over the phone, picked up the order for collection and was ready in minutes, happy with the prices as this is a quality takeaway spot.

We telephoned and made a large order for 16 people for delivery. The lady taking the order was great, the food was delivered within 30 minutes and was really tasty! There were no mistakes with the order. Delicious!

There was a big group of us ordering for takeaway and the lady took my order with no bother and was very friendly. The food was ready promptly for collection and tasted like real food. My bean curd was delightful thanks!

One of the best Chinese takeaways I've had. Definitely the best in Ventnor, if not the whole island! Food is lovely, portion sizes are decent and the staff are kind and friendly. So good I had to come back three times!

Got take away that took 1 hour 45 minutes to deliver.scandalous as only 4 miles away. Phoned to complain twice and told we had food that hadn't been delivered.rubbish service.

I think the best chinese ive had ,delivery was fast, food delicious and always piping hot. Lovely service and staff on the phone very polite and helpful.

Ordered £50 worth of food in a Sunday evening having travelled from the mainland. Ordered quite late for dinner (8pm ish) and the food was dreadful. The duck and pancakes was more fat than meat. We managed to fill 3 pancakes out of 6. The chips were very overcooked. The special fried rice was interesting!! The food certainly had an impact on our tummies this morning!! Would not recommend.

Was a little concerned after reading reviews but there was no need. The food was delivered within time specified. All dishes were lovely, not greasy like some Chinese. Would highly recommend.

Excellent takeaway service. Food was extremely tasty, although the 1/4 peking duck was whole not shredded and was cold (not a problem with a microwave and a fork!!). Lady delivering was lovely and made an extra effort to find the flat.

Mixed bag of reviews but despite a lengthy delay in delivery the food was very good - the soups in particular were tasty and every dish was enjoyable.

Asked if I could use toilet after ordering food was told not possible toilets not working , so i casually said to my wife maybe this is why they only do takeaway, a a restaurant should have toilets, only to have the girl behind the till calling me rude ,so I asked for my money back . Avoid.

We live in Ryde and bit of a trek for a takeaway..but would not go anywhere else! Have been going here for years..and never had a bad experience. Food and service is allways excellent and could not recommend more. Thank you

This was very poor food. The portions were small the tubs were not full. The large pancake roll is not large! The chicken curry was bland with not a lot of chicken. The special egg foo yung was poor, really watery and there was hardly any in the pot. The egg fried rice they forgot to give me so I had to go back to collect which was really annoying. This rice looked like boiled rice with a bit of egg thrown in. It was all very anaemic looking food and not cheap. Very disappointing. The girls serving were very pleasant but would not order from here again.

We were disappointed that the place wasn't a dine -in but we ordered a takeaway instead and we were not disappointed with the food... we had the most delicious chicken wings in pekingese sauce 😋 amazing. Then we had green Thai prawn curry with egg fried rice....mmmm....so tasty ...and then we had the China House special chow mein...what can I say ...absolutely satisfying to the end...Great prices and they deliver also ....we shall be back .

One of only 2 Chinese takeaways in Ventnor. Of the 2 this is definitely the better. Food was nice I enjoyed it and will go back.

Staying from London and gave New China House a try as they have very good hygiene rating which is important as we didn't want to get sick. The food pictures also looked high quality. After ordering few dishes the price was very reasonable and food high standard in taste and freshness. Highly recommend, they also do delivery and have halal chicken too

Crispy chicken was rubbery King prawns were so so Half duck wasn’t crispy. Returned for a new one. They gave me the same one back and still not cooked properly. Returned again and only refunded for the duck. People of Ventnor, stay away from this very bad restaurant

Sadly last night I ordered the battered chicken balls and these were raw and not edible. I havent been able to get through to anyone yet to speak to them.

We had a home delivery take away tonight. Wow! Delicious, amazing meal. I am gluten free and often struggle to find a Chinese meal that will be suitable for my dietary requirements. I was pleasantly delighted to find a good choice of meals and finally decided on the duck with pineapple, egg fried rice, crispy seaweed and prawn crackers obviously sharing with my husband. Wow! Delicious, wonderful meal tonight. We ordered by telephone and requested a delivery which was free. Second time ordering and really delicious! Fresh looking and tasting food and so tasty. Chowmein, rice, Hong Kong style, and black bean chicken all so good! Top notch seaweed too. Staff friendly and lovely delivery driver too. I'm a new regular :)

Ordered a takeaway from the New China House restaurant whilst on holiday in Ventnor. Although selecting from the usual choice of Chinese dishes, these were done with a slightly slant - this was tasty well-prepared food. The portions were generous at good value prices. Would definitely recommend this place.

Knew we'd fancy a Chinese takeaway whilst in Ventnor. Having read TripAdvisor comments we ordered from here. All dishes were very good and a little different from our local. We'll be back soon!

Had a Chinese takeaway from here during a holiday on IoW. Solid Chinese food that was very reasonably priced. No complaints and worth a go for a quick collection and midweek feast!

Telephone an order at 6.20pm,told it would be up to an hour for delivery which was acceptable.After an hour and half tried phoning to see what happening but their phone was "off the hook" At 8.25 got in the car and went to the shop,on...

Awful service! After 2.5 hours of waiting still no food delivered! I phoned and gave them 30 mins to deliver the food or we wouldn't be paying... That was 40 minutes ago. I will never be ordering from here again! Absolutely disgusting service!!!

Had two meals delivered last night.My wife had sweet and sour chicken balls with chips.The chicken tasted of cotton wool and did not look like chicken.I ordered a chicken dish and received the dish with pork which was ok..When complained offered free chicken balls on next order.Could not eat that meal again as so poor.To be fair have eaten food from them in past with no issues

What an extremely poor service. This is at least the 3rd time I have ordered a home delivery which has not been delivered in the time frame they have given. I understand that they are very busy and I don't mind a 30 minute/one hour delay to the timeI was told. But 2 hours is pushing the boundaries. A home delivery means delivering to your home. But having waited 2 hours (and food paid for) I was forced to go to the premises and was told sorry they were cooking the food now! (So no intentions of sorting out my order any time soon) Walk ins were obviously a priority. DISGUSTING

Really enjoyed two takeaways from here during our hols. The first time I had chow mein and my husband reverted to omelette and chips, very nice but the next time we both had chop suey to die for, gorgeous! Really friendly with speedy service and decent prices

Friendly helpful service and really tasty food!

The food ain't bad (though some dishes are very greasy), but the amount of problems I've had with wrong deliveries and mistakes due to the bloke who answers the phone has caused Me so many headaches. Don't bother complaining to the manager... she thinks the place is perfect! It used to be so much better. I'll be having Indian from now on!!!

Fast reliable quality food at reasonable prices. Well worth traveling little further for a clean spacious restaurant with attentive but relaxed service. Takeaway good too

Due to Covid we have only had take aways but as always they have been superb. We are looking forward to visiting again when all this is over but for the meantime will continue with their superb food at home.

Not very impressed. Egg fried rice should have egg in and be fried. The sweet and sour was just sweet and the fried mixed vegetables were just about adequate.

Looking for a Chinese restaurant doing delivery while on holiday we found this place. Very reasonable prices, fast delivery and the food was excellent, unlike so many takeaways it actually had real flavour, not bland. Definitely recommend, and we will be using again.

Absolutely amazing. We had a take away as the restaurant is currently closed due to COVID. The food was amazing, vegetables were crisp in the meal and it was really enjoyable. Would definitely eat from there again.

Went last night with friends and had a wonderful evening. The staff are superb and so friendly. Honestly, you couldn't fault the service. We had one of the set meals for four and what i love is that there was one item in it that we didn't like so were allowed to change it for something else. How good is that for service?? My only Mini moan is that it would be good to have hot trays for the food to sit on as it goes cool quite quickly when there's as much food as we had but it didn't detract from the yumminess of the food. Will definitely go again.

The food is very nice and reasonably priced. The restaurant restaurant decor is nice but it is let down with the reused paper tablecloths and fake flowers in vases. if this were changed to linen and real flowers it would have got a 5 review. The wall lights do have cobwebs and dust and could do with a wipe over. The staff were friendly and we would visit again.

Have been here a couple of times now and the food and service is brilliant. The front of house staff are so helpful and friendly and the food is amazing, their satay sauce is to die for!!!!! Does take away too which is a bonus!!!!

We visited on a Sunday around 9pm with nothing open, but there was no problem eating that late. Now there was a wide choice of dishes, the food was good with generous portions and reasonably priced

Excellent food, would definitely return. Mixed hors d'oeuvres were brilliant, tasty & filling to start with, followed by web fried rice, chicken & mushroom chow mein, sweet & sour chicken balls. All very delightful to eat. Soft drink options could have been better for those that do not drink is my only criticism. Staff were very helpful & friendly.

Definitely a place to eat, having had a sit in meal last week and takeaway this week. Food is piping hot, very tasty and good sized portions. Didn’t have to wait long either in the restaurant or for our takeaway to be delivered.

Stayed local and searched Chinese in Ventnor. What a hidden gem! Freshly cooked excellent Chinese with great service. Best Chinese outside of China town London! Highly recommended!

Nice food but difficult to talk to on the phone, difficultly understanding on both parts; understanding me with my order, and my understanding what they were saying. This culminated in the order being wrong with one item missing! When phoning to say having arrived home the same woman answered and said that she’d read the order back to me .. (she hadn’t) and so moral of the story check your order before you leave and check the price as they also overcharged by 80p when checking against the menu... the attitude on the phone has sadly lost them our custom.

The delivery of the food was very quick and they got the order correct. The food itself was not that tasty.

Went here with friends last night and it was amazing. It must have been taken over 'cos it was so much better than when we went years ago. The food was incredible and the prices are excellent. The New China House in Ventnor is one of the best chinese restaurants/takeaways I have ever used. I have had a sit down meal in their restaurant and used the takaway. .several times . The food and service is excellent. I recommend 100%.

Not to bad to be fair to them. The food was well prepared and nice and hot. My only moan would be that the crispy chilli beef was not crispy. Would use them again but not in a rush.

Dropping in for dinner on a quiet Tuesday evening, we were greeted cordially and invited to sit where we liked. Soon we were the only diners present, although the place kept doing a steady takeout business. We shared four dishes. Beef szechuan (£7.70) included a good proportion of beef but had none of the spiciness of real szechuan cuisine. Mixed seafood with ginger and spring onion (£9.20) included two big shrimp, several mussels, and some squid. It was OK but very light on the ginger. Singapore fried rice (£7.50) had some pork bits but no hint of Singapore-style flavouring. We had been told that Chinese leaves in oyster sauce (£5.80) would be Chinese lettuce, but it turned out to be mostly a big pile of chopped onion with some carrot slices. There was only a tiny amount of lettuce, and no discernible trace of oyster sauce. The whole meal was quantity enough to satisfy two appetites, but was exceedingly bland. Maybe we should have told the server we are not English and enjoy real Chinese spicing? On the plus side, the service was good, and both the dining room and the toilets were impressively clean. We may try this place again, but for now I have to say Dragon Pearl in Shanklin is a much better bet.

Egg fried rice , with a smiddgen of egg, if you had a microscope. Awful dumplings, heavy filled with coarse mince pork yuk. Our dogs enjoyed them! Sweet sickly garlic Thai prawns, cooked in sugar water with some watered down sweet chilli sauce. Don’t know what more to say, usual Isle of Wight poor food offerings

Partner and I are visiting Ventnor for a couple of nights and thought we would grab a takeaway whilst the rain is beating down tonight. Delivery was fast and arrived piping hot. Full of flavour, not greasy and big portions with lots of meat. The beef was very good quality and they made my dish extra spicy as requested. If we are around, we will definatetly order again!

Absolutely wonderful service, delivery and quality for a rather large take away ordered and devoured by sixteen family members at our Golden Wedding get together in Shanklin. Tried China House again after a long time, and can honestly say it is the best Chinese on the Island. Highly recommend the curry sauce, salt and pepper dishes and the Malay fried Rice. You will not be disappointed!
