The Met in Isle of Wight

Fantastic location fronting the beach and listening to the crashing waves. Lovely ambience in the restaurant with prefect lighting and background music. The staff were friendly and efficient, although it was not table service. Order up at the bar. The food was outstanding, we had a selection of tapas which we shared, and the IoW cheese meze. All of which were really delicious. We would highly recommend The Met and will definitely return. The only thing which spoilt it were a noisy group who were loud and swearing a lot. I felt the staff should have asked them to just limit their language and noise as a family were sat close by, and it appeared as though they were either regulars or knew the staff.

Really lovely lunch, great service and lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend for a relaxed but delicious family lunch.

Being in a wheelchair is hard to find accessible food out but I was excited to see the met not only could accommodate me but served the best food. The waitress was extremely helpful. Great job xx

Fantastic visit to The Met. Recieved a warm welcome on arrival. Enjoyed fantastic tapas with a view of the sea front. Great potato pravas, chicken skewers, pork belly bites & crab fishcakes. We shared the Eton mess. All wonderful.

Ate here on Sunday.. food great but the "girl in charge"seems to think she is to good for the place and should be working in South of France 🇫🇷..no interest in being there.rest of staff very good

We only popped in for some hot drinks in the last hour of our recent trip to Ventnor but wish we'd spotted this gem sooner! Ventnor is quite old fashioned but The Met is a trendy little place with sea views, a fab menu and friendly staff. I will need to call here again during my next trip!

Great food, ordering seperately for food and drinks is unusual though? Toilets could do with a revamp to help keep cleaner?

We called in for some tapas and were not disappointed , they were well cooked and presented. The staff were friendly & efficient. There is a good casual atmosphere about The Met, difficult to describe but very pleasant and relaxing.

Since we stayed right next to this restaurant in an Airbnb, we ended up having dinner there twice in one week. They offer both middle and full set menus, with delicious options at a fair price. The location is stunning, and the food is both tasty and healthy.

The young team at The Met are super friendly, we ate tapas style food, with a cheese board on two nights, local produce, you can’t book, but a table was quickly available on BH Monday evening. Food and service both excellent and good value.

What's not to love? We were a walk in on a bank holiday Monday seated within minutes Excellent food every Thing we ordered was great Squid Humus Prawns but the French onion soup wow! Great staff really helpful and attentive who made a fuss of and have biscuits for my Lab! Lovely views watching the sun set definitely recommended and will definitely visit again!

We had a very nice evening. It was busy but we didn’t mind the short wait for lovely tapas and a great dessert. Staff very friendly and helpful. Space for our big Labrador too.

We had a lovely meal meal tonight, The Met truly is a great tapas styled wine bar in the heart of a Ventnor. The food was brilliant, very well presented and tasty, portion sizes are good and the food arrived hot and in good time. I would recommend The Met for drinks and dinner!

Quick, attentive service by young and friendly staff. We had some tapas between the four of us, pork belly, calamari, prawns all cooked nicely and flavourful, salads nicely dressed along with some breads and chicken skewers with dips which also added to the meal. Portion sizes were good, reasonably priced, nicely decorated with tables not too close together. All in all a very nice time, would recommend to anyone for lunch or dinner

This place deserves a better rating then 3.9, food is good and affordable, nice setting by the beach with friendly staff

We're on holiday celebrating our Ruby Wedding. The Mocha was absolutely perfect. I would would highly recommend the food menu too

Fantastic food, we had pepperoni and meat feast pizzaguettes, aubergine parmigiana, mesquite chicken wings, sour dough bread and fries, really delicious. The staff are lovely and helpful. My son lost his wrist band whilst we were visiting and the staff kept it until we could collect it. Really appreciate the kindness as it was a birthday present.

We just had dinner here and we were very pleased. It was pleasant and laid back. Good range of drinks and food that wasn’t brown / deep fried. Reasonably priced. I had the seafood chowder which was £12.50.

This has to be the best restaurant in Ventnor on the Isle of Wight! We're here on the island for 4 nights and have visited twice already - it's that good! It's run by a very young team who are a credit to the establishment. Their service is exceptional, especially for people so young : they genuinely enjoy serving their customers and nothing is too much trouble. It's extremely pleasant service with a smile and a chat and they regularly checked with us to see if everything was OK, and seemed genuinely interested. The menu is fantastic with a great variety of tapas, salads and meats and caters really well for vegetarians too. The portion sizes are on the large side, making this restaurant extremely good value for money. And the prices are reasonable too, including the drinks - no ripping off customers here just because it's a holiday resort. Our food on both occasions has been exceptional - tasty, hot, plentiful, beautifully presented and different to your run of the mill other restaurants. Don't forget to look on the specials board too, as well as the main menus, as they have some stunning meals on offer - something very different. Compliments to the chefs, who produce some truly exceptional and tasty meals. Between the two of us on two occasions we've had chicken skewers, veggie risotto, sweet potato curry, brushetta, chilli con carne, whipped feta with pomegranate seeds and pitta bread, and the most delicious French onion soup I've ever tasted, which was accompanied by cheesy garlic bread. Can't fault this place at all and I wish you all the very best for the future. I wish we had a Met in my home town!

Went with my wife and kids for lunch and drinks. The menu had some different items on it and the food we had was really tasty. The staff were friendly and helpful and we had a nice lunch in the restaurant.

We turned up 5 minutes before last food orders but the staff were more than happy to take the order The choice of dishes was great with a huge range to pick from The food was very fresh and the best meal of the hoilday We had cheese and chips the pork bellie a kids pizza grilled chicken and crab cakes All were great

Well worth a try if you’re in the area. The medium tapas are pretty big, so 2 will be enough for most people. Everything we had was tasty and well presented. There’s a nice vibe to the place too.

Absolute diamond of a place. Veggies are in heaven. The honey whipped feta and Aubergine Parmigiana are to die for. Dog friendly and the staff are Ace.

We loved the vibe at The Met, visiting on a Sunday afternoon the place was packed and the staff was slammed with orders yet the food stayed uncompromised. We loved everything we ordered. Being Vegetarians we got tons of options to pick and eat from and all of them felt so good. We ordered - Tomato and Onion Bruschetta, Vege Pizzaguettes, Falafel and Hummus Baguette, hot chocolate and a cappuccino - and nothing disappointed us. It’s a place with find your own seating and order at counter kind of place so do not wait at door to be seated (we are guilty of it until a kind gentleman customer of theirs came and told us about this)

First class Fench Onion Soup and Seafood Chowder. Good value and friendly attentive staff. They must have had staffing problems in the past, but from my experience I would throughly recommend this restaurant/ bar.

First visit to this restaurant. It was simply outstanding. Food was fresh , hot and delicious. Food was so good we went back the following evening. Great choice of food so we were able to choose slightly different dishes on the second night. Simply delicious. Service was fantastic. The whole team were switched on. What a delight. We visited twice on our holiday and were so impressed with everything. Firstly the Staff were brilliant, they were all quite young but very friendly, professional and polite. The atmosphere and feel of the place is great, and the tapas dishes were really good. Our kids had their Pizza-guettes which were also really good! I would absolutely recommend if staying / visiting Ventnor-it also over looks the beach and sea with lovely views-a perfect spot.

Oh this place is lovely. First of all the decor and its position across from the beach could not be better. We were temptwd by the special of the day Mules and frites but felt we could not eat a full one ourselves. Could we please share. No problem. The staff were lovely and friendly and we had one meal between two which was more than enough for lunch time. Our coffees were really good and we finished with lovely icecream. Definately be back.

Really good menu. Interesting and enjoyable food at reasonable prices. Great ambiance. We went to the Met again yesterday, we have not been there for a while, but pleased to say that if anything the venue has got better! There were five of us and we ate a vast amount of food, drank several beers and two bottles of Provence Rose. Cost less than £30.00 a head. Great value!

Friendly atmosphere and staff. Excellent position just metres frm the sea front and dogfriendly with a large selection of drinks available. The Patatas Bravas were crispy and served with a rich smokey sauce. Unfortunately the Pork Belly Bites were a dense dry texture meat, lacking in any flavour and did not resemble pork belly in terms of flavour or texture, the small salad which accompanied them was fresh and delicious.

We called in twice for coffees & cakes and all was fine. The second time we also ordered the cheese board & two 175ml glasses of wine. A disappointing cheese board with an overly large slab of cheddar alongside two very small pieces of blue & Brie together with basic crackers and both glasses of wine were short of the 175ml line - one more than the other but we thought they must have misheard us and thought we’d ordered 125ml. Not the case - I was then given a lesson in the fact that there is a line on the glass to show where it should be poured to!! Yes - and it wasn’t! Shrug of shoulders and duly took the payment for the 175ml glasses! The service on the first visit had been very good and I was taken aback at this actually - surely for the sake of a pound on each glass (out of £35 for two coffees, a piece of cake, the cheese board & two glasses of wine) you would take the customer at their word!

What a find. We live on the island and this was first visit. Lovely lunch. Food and service was great. Made a great change from the Spyglass where we lazily return. Decor and surrounding are excellent and good vibes 😉. We will definately be back.

Hadn't been to The Met for a couple of years. The venue food and staff were terrific, plus, really cold 🍻 beer.

Delicious lunch in a great setting. Front of house staff were very professional, polite and friendly. Sean(?) an accomplished musician serenaded us on his guitar. Can highly recommend.

Little trip to Ventnor and found this place

A (not so) hidden gem. Great food, served beautifully and really nice friendly staff. I think? family run, and run very well indeed. 2 visits in my week on the island. Definitely coming again time. Highly recommended

Stopped here for lunch today, and it was delicious!! Baguette with falafel and houmous. Very fresh bread , lovely side salad and crisps All served by a very friendly cheerful girl in an extremely nice setting

Great escape from blustery walk along the esplanade. Went in for coffee- ended up having food. Menus was enticing - Superb. Ladies toilet fitted out with disabled hand rails . I even managed to get my scooter inside ! Thank you

Beautiful spot for a relaxing drink happy days

Nice little seaside spot for small plates. We shared the taramasalata dip (pretty good) the barbecued pork belly (which was really more like barbecues pork bites, as it had none of the richness of pork belly and a very dense texture. The crab and shrimp ramekin was very tasty and enjoyable. Though the place wasn't crowded, it took quite a while to get our drinks. We asked if we could get the taramasalata first, then the other dishes afterwards. The waiter said he'd see to it. So, yeah, everything came out all at once. Oh, well. There's no table service, drinks and food are ordered at the bar and delivered to the table.

Had a Tapas dinner here last night. The food was excellent, the Staff delightful and the atmosphere was great.

Lovely bar on Ventnor sea front. Great tapas selection, good beer and cocktails. Friendly staff, great for couples and families alike. Good value.

Really great experience. We had the tapas & someone else mentioned the chilli con carne in their review, which I can confirm was delicious. Very impressive front of house staff, friendly & helpful. Don't know why it's only scoring 3.5 on TA. It's clearly a 5 out of 5 in our eyes.

Ruby and the staff were welcoming & helpful, moving tables to accommodate our party of 8. The food was great, we had a vegan, a vegetarian & someone who is gluten intolerant but there was plenty to choose from & everyone was really happy with what we ordered, it all came at once even though we were a large group. The place has a lovely atmosphere & we stayed on for a drink afterwards.

Went to celebrate our younger daughter's birthday with our 2 labradors, they were welcomed in the restaurants no issues. The food Tapas and everything is to die for, freshly prepared from mostly local ingredients and it was amazing, so were the drinks which were tailor made for. We requested a birthday cake for our daughter which was arranged at very short notice. Absolutely brilliant. Great place, great ambience, will certainly go again when we are in IOW again. Highly Recommended!! Thanks all for making our daughter's birthday dinner so special! Much appreciated!!

How lovely to find the Met bar has returned to the great tapas menu after so many years..have eaten here about 4 times in the past 2 weeks with friends and locals. Excellent menu and the food has not disappointed.

Had lovely lunch here, French onion soup and I had pastrami baguette, having walked few miles from Shanklin it was a very welcome pit stop! Lovely staff and sat outside to enjoy the sunshine!

Good menu, I’m vegetarian and had plenty of options I went for the Aubergine Parmigiana which was very nice, the food arrived quickly the young staff were friendly and polite the prices weren’t too expensive and the view out to the ocean was great.

We only went for drinks but it was a nice environment with friendly bar staff. The cocktails were very good and reasonably priced. Would recommend popping in for a drink or two

Lovely Cocktails! Cannot emphasise enough on trying some of Jules and the crew’s delicacies. Especially the Ventnor Breeze and the Pink Siren. Proceed to their venue and indulge in some lovely mixed drinks.
