Trade Winds Cafe in Isle of Wight

Perfectly situated and a great place to drop into walking from Sandown or Shanklin. The food on offer is amazing, particularly given the location! Staff are friendly and the views stunning! My favourite 'walk to' café by some margin!

Rained or shine this is my favourite place to be for breakfast. The food is fresh and creative. We'll be back again and again.

A worthwhile walk from the bus stop to this hidden gem, wasn’t expecting such a good atmosphere inside, its quaint interior of a beachy hut was welcoming, and a view of crashing endless blue waves was mesmerising. Although the food was large in proportion, taste-wise it could improve. The staff are very polite. Unfortunately no WiFi due to being so close to the sea. Overall a nice coffee place to visit close to the sea.

Stop here on walk to/ back from Shanklin, staff very friendly despite it usually gets very busy & very dog friendly. Stopped here once 20 years ago when it was just a couple of tables outside for a warming drink following activity day at Wightwater, amazing transformation from then 😉 Good coffee, savoury croissants are light & flavoursome. Watched the waves & enjoyed sunshine on our last day of holiday. Recommend pizza, husband had Cuban style sandwich which was really good too. Fair prices considering where you are & the sea show 🌊 food, wine, beer etc all good quality& recommend Our favourite stop off, we saw guys putting up sandbanks on Friday in preparation for Sundays storm & waves 🌊- hope everyone is ok & no major damage looking forward to our next visit.

Stopped here for lunch, It's a small restaurant right on the sea front , Literally twenty feet from the sea , no complaints about the view. Seats approx 30 people some inside some outside. Nice calming atmosphere Staff are helpful and friendly, It was busy when I was there (13.00) I had the 12" homemade pizza (Spicy Pepperoni) and a pint of Atlantic Ale, best pizza I've had in ages, Fair prices, Will definitely go back when I'm in the area. The only thing is it's a 20 minute walk along the sea front to get to. You can't drive there.

Sadly we were disappointed with our food, £7 for a garlic flatbread which was actually 2 slices of ordinary bread, £16 for a halloumi salad which was mainly lettuce, no olives and little else. Food used to be great but not today

Very nice refreshment stop on our bike ride. Coffee was lovely and the Brownie was delicious! Wished we'd come for lunch so will definitely return.

What a surprise for a beach cafe. It stands out (It was a hot summer's day, so perfect) from the outside, with a great look. The inside and menu enhance the experience more. Simple but well designed with a good atmosphere, fantastic setting and good menu selection. I ordered avocado and feta with poached eggs. The hummus was delicious, the quickly pickled onion was crunchy and just perfectly complimented the rest, the balsamic was thick and just the right flavour, the avocado perfectly ripe and the pistachio crumb and dill finished it off perfectly. Sorry about the essay, but this place is worth travelling to if you are on the Island.

This morning myself and my husband took a lovely walk down to this beautiful spot to have a breakfast.....It was such a fantastic atmosphere.....will definitely be going again soon.....the quality ,presentation and portion size was perfect......and great value for money.....just faultless 🥰

Simply a Gorgeous location, Gorgeous Food. Staff and really lovely and helpful. Food is very well priced and plentiful. A perfect mis way stop off point for a coffee or lunch .

Fantastic food and service every time, best coffee. Had the specials, salt pepper squid, prawn avocado tacos and panko chicken burger all fantastic excellent portion size well worth the money all in a nice relaxing atmosphere, love stopping here on our walk. Great views recommend highly

Waited to be served for ten minutes . Not cleared from last customer,we moved to another table still no one asked us for an order so we left . Employ enough staff and you would give at least some service . Walked to Shanklin and had a meal there

Amazing location, very yummy food!

Our take away coffees took around 25mins. When they finally arrived the baby chino’s didn’t have marshmallows as requested so I asked the girl for some, she brought us some on a plate and told me I had to go inside and pay extra for them…only 50p but the coffees weren’t cheap and after the long wait this seemed quite unfair. The chia late wasn’t great and had loads of sediment (like a tea bag had split) at the bottom. Great location but service and coffees not great

Very reasonably priced fresh food and drinks. There is a nice, all weather outside space overlooking the sea.

Visied 16/02/2024. Sat outside, coats off in the sun, views out to the sea in Sandown. Staff were super friendly, service was quick and the food was amazing; fresh, light, tasty, affordable. Great place to relax, but get there early, it's very popular!

Useful place to come when the weather's not great at it has space inside. Nice coffee and cake. My daughter enjoyed her smoothy bowl Breakfast was good too. Enjoyed the chorizo hash.

Was here this morning amazing food and the service is on par. Lovely gas heater i was next to while enjoying a cup of tea with friends.

A shelter from a looming storm was super welcome. The greeting and ease with shifting tables and chairs to accommodate our party of 8 was also super welcome. We all enjoyed our coffees, teas and two beers. A lovely spot with a stunning view of the Solent.

A classy little beach cafe run by lovely, genuine people. The coffee was great and the butternut squash soup was exactly what I wanted. Super accommodating for vegans - they had vegan cheese for the pizzas, as well as salads and other vegan-friendly options.

What a find, lovely vibe, service and food, and a great new Italian rose for me to try, easy stroll from either Shanklin to Sandown to this little gem👏🥂👍

Stopped for coffee lovley cafe Wanted to used the toilet but it smelt so bad if made feel sick for hours decided to hold on

Coffee and cake were good. If you need to use the toilet you need to get a key then go to a shed which had a portable loo in, like at a festival! There was running water to wash your hands.

We have eaten here twice - once for breakfast and once for lunch. Both times were excellent. Very prompt and polite service from when we arrived, we really enjoyed it. Breakfast for me and my dad was freshly made eggs benedict served on a half muffin with a large coffee - this was delicious. My wife and my mum had the eggs florentine and they both loved it. Both around £12 which isn't out nowadays. Lunch on the next visit i had a southern fried chicken burger ( I just really fancied it) with fries and salad - £13 I think - very tasty and my wife had the fish tacos off the specials board out the front and was very happy with them. I love this place. All round fantastic. I love their lattes and the pizzas are to die for. Heavenly! Have enjoyed there breakfasts as well. Yum! Plenty of other delicious dishes.The location is stunning and staff very friendly and serve you well.

Lovely location, but service was terrible and very slow, particularly for the rip off prices they charge. £6 for a really ordinary milkshake which took 20+ minutes to come at an off peak time really was way off the mark, and the staff showed complete indifference. Beware!

Excellent beach side cafe with superior quality food and wide range of drinks

An excellent find on our walk between Shanklin and Sandown. Roughly equal distances between the two towns on a lovely seaside walk. Child and dog friendly with fantastic views. An exciting food and drinks menu. I had a lovely coffee and my boys demolished a Nutella croissant! We will definitely return.

Food was good but service was very slow , 1hr & 20 minutes for food , as on the sea shore time was coming in then was right in when we left

One of our favourite places on the island, so peaceful to go for breakfast on our dog walks at the beach. The staff are so lovely and the smoothie bowls are stunning, highly recommend!

This is a fantastic bar on the beach, and the beef tacos were one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Highly recommend

I love the walk between Sandown and Shanklin and have recently started this walk again. Today I popped in to Tradewinds for a Latte as I've passed many times and it always seems so welcoming. I'm so glad I did pop in today. Staff are friendly and helpful and are all smiling, ( I think I would be smiling working there) chilled out vibes and great views , family friendly and just a cool place to chill listen to some music and enjoy the surroundings. I will definitely visit again and might even treat myself to a lovely slice of cake. Thanks Tradewinds team 💙

Completely disorganised. 6 staff front of house, none of which seemed to know what they were doing. Just standing around trying their hardest to ignore customers. Sat there for 20 minutes, eventually ordered some drinks and food, was told that we could only order certain food items from this team-member and another would have to take the rest of our food order… super-weird, no-one came. We eventually asked for someone else to help and was told that they too couldn’t take the rest of our order and we’d have to see someone else to order the remaining food… When someone who we could order the food from eventually arrived, we were told the food would be at least 30 minutes… despite the fact that the food we were already allowed to order was on its way, having been ordered twenty minutes previously. Paid for our two drinks (which took another 10 minutes) that we had received (out of the 4 ordered) and left. Not a single apology or acknowledgment that our time had been wasted. It’s tough times for hospitality and those that try hardest will be ok, while those that couldn’t care less won’t.

Stopped off here for a coffee and cake and to rest the legs for half hour walking the coast path. The staff where friendly and was made to feel welcome. The cake was a big slice and tasted great and both that and the coffee were reseasonably priced A little gem

We visited on Boxing day, just for drinks, very nice. The waves were crashing against the seawall only about 4 or 5 feet away, and we did not get wet. Maybe they have a forcefield!!
