my wife and I and our 2 dogs popped in here for a hot chocolate. I ended up with a piece of cake and that was lovely. the hot chocolate was superb. we're booked in for an afternoon tea before we go home to the mainland . definitely recommend . very friendly and dogs treated as well
Brilliant experience at The Reef.
Food was excellent and service was great would highly recommend a visit.
The lamb and mint pie is absolutely delicious
Must visit!
This is a wonderful place. The food is exceptional with fresh produce cooked beautifully each time. We first visited when we lived on the mainland. Always by boat. Now we live on the island we visit as often as we can.
Staff very friendly. Food filling and good. Had breakfast there 2 mornings , much choice.
Day of arrival, wet and cold, popped in for hot chocolate, very welcoming.
Incredible beach side cafe
Lovely food (vegan options available), friendly staff, great coffee and cakes and a fab ice-cream selection - a great find on a dog friendly beach ❤️
Stay away from this restaurant. It has a policy of harassing people on the table if the next customer has arrived early. I agreed with the chef 3 days previously...his exact words than were "as long as you're in and out by 8, will be fine" and the waiter is my witness. My goal was to leave at 7:50, 7.55 at the latest .
I contacted the restaurant 25 minutes before arriving to ensure my starter would be ready to eat immediately upon arrival. This was to ensure there would be no problems nearer to 8pm. The starter was not ready when I arrived. I was the only person in the restaurant and I had to wait 15 minutes for the starter. This made a big difference to the evening.
At 7:50 the next people arrive and she tells me to vacate the table while I'm eating my dessert. I ignore her and carry on eating my dessert. 2 minutes later she tells me again to vacate the table. I ignore her as I am halfway through my dessert. At 7.55pm the next people were able to sit down.
Prioritising the next customer who's arrived early over the person on the table is guaranteed to lose the custom of the person on the table. The common sense thing to do was to leave me alone and let me finish my dessert and then she would have kept my custom but she'd rather lose my custom. I go to four restaurants a week and I've never seen anything like it.
This restaurant's policy of harassing customers on the table because the next customer has arrived early is losing customers and I suggest you don't even think of becoming a customer there, it was extremely rude.
I've been to 21 restaurants on the Isle of Wight and the red duster tops them all for rudeness, the sheer audacity of this place beggars belief.
Also, the chef's wife/waitress could not answer basic questions about the menu. I was astonished at her lack of knowledge of the menu.
She did not bother to understand the menu and her explanation was for this was because she was a vegetarian.
We stopped off to get some chips and a batterd sausage and fish cake on a Saturday lunchtime after a walk on the nearby beach.
The lady was lovely and our food was delicious and very well priced.
The sausage was one of the best it was absolutely delicious we will be back again.
I stopped of at the Happy Haddock on Friday for some take-away fish and chips. The service was swift, the staff pleasant and the food was served promptly. Nice flaky fish in crispy batter and well cooked chips, I had a seniors portion which was very good value.

Beautiful view over looking the beach, parking just around the corner, reasonable price, nice pint and nice coffee, can't comment on food as didn't have anything but menu was very reasonable
We had made a reservation based on spending the day in the animal farm next door and needing somewhere close and convenient to eat.
Our reservation was for 4, 2 adults and 2 children and having miss judged when we would want to eat we asked to pull out booking forward and hour. “No problem at all”
We were seated by a lovely waitress who managed our table for the whole time. She provided recommendations and had a generally lovely demeanour.
We ordered off the specials, 1 Sunday lunch, 1 big burger and a couple extra bits. The food came quick and both of us were shocked by the size and quality. We probably over ordered but both agreed the food was fantastic.
If we find ourselves back on the IOW I’d say it’s very likely that we would eat here again.
The only frustration was that failed to get our waitresses name!
I believe it's closed due to the winter season but it would be nice for them to update their opening times in Google and on their own website. Went to get KimBo Chinese takeaway which was surprisingly nice.

One of the nicest Premier Inns I’ve visited!
The rooms were modern and clean and location was fantastic.
Breakfast was, as expected from a Permier Inn, top tier.
Location was great too and parking nice and easy.
