Hotel in need of some decor improvements but was clean, reception staff were friendly and helpful, my room details were ready for my arrival which was a nice touch. Room 65 was spacious, clean and comfortable. Food was tasty and most of the staff engaging and pleasant. Would be happy to stay again.
Staff were welcoming, the pub has a nice atmosphere & the food was fantastic! Our waitress Kerris was very friendly and helpful and looked after us and the dog ! Great Sunday lunch
Raj used to be my favourite Indian restaurant and I used to eat there about once a week. The manager Zac is absolutely amazing and will do anything for his customers and does a great job. He is smart (shirt and tie) and always professional.
However, after my last visit I will not be returning again. The owner of the restaurant seems to care very little about the reputation of his own business and is always there but wearing tatty jeans and clothes and I feel this does not give a good business image - why can't he make more of an effort like his manager Zac?
Also on my last visit there were a couple of teenagers just hanging out in there (I think they are related to the owner). Would have no objection to this if they were not helping out by setting and clearing tables (no problem with this) but wearing jeans or joggers and hoodies and to complete the look beanie hats. Just looked a little unprofessional to me.
Then to make things worse one of the young lads had a handful of cutlery as he was laying a table - openly coughed into his hands, while holding the cutlery - then proceeded to put the contaminated cutlery on the table, prior to customers being seated at the table.
Like I said the Raj was my favourite but has really gone downhill the owner really needs to make the effort, raise the profile, create a better image. The food is great - but come on guys you can do much better and follow the professional image set by Zac the manager.
Maybe buy some branded t-shirts or polo shirts with the name Raj on! Train the young people in basic hygiene and customer service if they are going to be in your restaurant.
Sorry, but for the time being at least you have lost a loyal customer.
We visited today for a Roast as a treat for my birthday. The food was excellent, big portions and served in a timely manner. Pudding was lovely and fresh as well.
The staff were very friendly but do have to say we had to keep asking for drinks, but this would certainly not stop us from returning.
Thank you for a lovely afternoon.
We did a hike in the area and called into the Fox for lunch and a pint. The pub exterior looked a bit tired so our expectations weren't high, However, as soon as we entered the pub and were met with a friendly welcome things started to look up. Like a previous reviewer we had the tuna sandwich and the steak burger with Stilton but our experience was far more positive. The food was simple but very tasty, especially the chunky chips. Likewise the beer was well kept and very refreshing after a long walk. There was a large group of ramblers in the pub who had clearly arranged to park in the pub car park before doing their walk. They all appeared to be enjoying their post walk food & drinks too.
Went for Sunday lunch with family based on the Trip Advisor reviews (thank you) and I am so happy we went. Received a lovely warm welcome and friendly and efficient service by a happy Team, food was yummy and a good plateful! and we had a nice chinwag with the Landlady when we reluctantly left. It was well worth the journey (about an hour from home) and we came away very happy. We will be back!
The Queen’s Arms in Basingstoke provided us with fantastic service and hospitality. We were grateful they allowed us to use their small car park while we caught a train to London, and they were more than happy to accommodate us for a small fee. On our return, we stopped in for a drink and were warmly welcomed by a lovely lady who made us feel right at home. The friendly atmosphere and helpful staff make this pub a gem. We highly recommend it and will definitely be stopping by again whenever we’re in the area!

Dined here this afternoon with my girlfriend. She had Sunday roast, I had fish and chips. Both of us were left disappointed.
The batter on my fish and chips wasnt crispy, it was soft and mushy, chips were cold.
Front of house were great, very efficient and friendly and they get the 3 stars. (not just because they knocked off 25% from the bill as the food wasnt good)

Popped in for some starters and a drink after an activity nearby. Friendly staff. You can watch and hear the chefs making the meals. Nice place. Would visit again for a proper meal for sure.
