Ample parking, didn't book however received a table with no issues, service was friendly and food was delicious.

Starters were really nice but mains were disappointing. Not cooked properly and had to return our meals. Took a while to bring fresh food back but again wasn't cooked enough, this resulted in some of our party finishing their meals before others. The place was empty and after eating the food, it made me think that would be why. Staff were friendly but wouldn't return again.

We visit the spruce goose regularly as a family and we can't fault it staff are brilliant and so welcoming. Food is always hot and tasty and steaks are always cooked to perfection. Would highly recommend spruce goose

Great lunch today. Brilliant atmosphere in restaurant and our server was attentive and efficient. I had the fish and chips and fish was moist and batter was crisp and light.

The staff are very professional but the food was awful the steak was fatty, my chicken was dry and the flat bread was dry and hard. As for the potion sizes I got 12 chips and 4 bits of chicken

Dined here 4 times in a row on a business trip. (disclaimer, my idea of eating out is the chippy, so I'm not hard to impress.) Portion sizes are ridiculously tiny. £16 for fish & chips came with a thin piece of fish, a handful of chips and half a ramekin of dried out mushy peas. Ordered rump steak ; asked for medium, cooked medium rare, half a ramekin of sad looking garden peas, 8 chips, peppercorn sauce that was more like cat sick and a griddled tomato that looked like it had been warmed up between someones butt cheaks for 30 minutes. Tables aren't cleaned properly and wobble when you're cutting through your steak. This is not a place I would ever bring my family.

Great place to meet up for lunch or dinner . We had exceptional weather so decided to eat outside which was lovely . Service didn't seem to be compromised by this , food came quite quickly. Tables weren't cleared as quickly , but it was quite busy. I would recommend

My family Hadn't been here in a while, so thought we'd give it a go. The food was extremely disappointing, We had 3 starters all the same, which was the chicken goujon, literally just chicken on the plate with a tiny sallow pot of hot sauce, we all asked for more sauce but only got one, no sign of a garnish of salad anywhere! The main meal portion sizes were child like, the mash potato on my husband and sons plates was lumpy and inedible with one tablespoon of peas, the side of chips we ordered was laughable really small. We were also sat right next to the counter where the staff were poring sauces from large bottles, it looked disgusting and the whole area was a mess. We also received our food before our drinks even arrived. even though they were ordered well in advance.

Food was shocking. Everything tasted old and watery. 'sirloin' roast was papery leather. Gammon roast tasted like sliced ham that been left out. Potatoes were somehow overcooked on the outside and undercooked mash on the inside.

Our server Morgan was an absolute delight and the food was good too! Really great job 😊

Food was good but apparently you need to know someone for decent service. I waited a long time for everything, to be seated, drink and food order, arrival of food, to pay. I had nearly finished my main when another guest arrived and we got our dessert at the same time. Then they were long gone by the time I managed to get my bill.

We had amazing Sunday lunch here, food was good my husband had a Stirloin steak what was exact as he wanted. Thank to Isadora which was absolutely great waitress, friendly smiling.

Stay away from the prawns, got some with my steak which I asked for medium rare and it came out blue/rare, and I’ve now got food poisoning. Whether it was the prawns or the mooing steak, who knows, but it’s not hard to make sure everything is tempted properly and that your seafood isn’t old. Sort yourselves out 🤧 embarrassing

Busy today but the grandchildren enjoyed their breakfast pancakes and Nutella! Hot food was regularly topped up but only one thing that may help it run quicker is make the hot selection bigger or accessible from both sides to cut down on queues. Enjoyed all we had

When I tell you this place is amazing I'm not lieing.The vibes were very chill and as soon as you walk in a worker is there to show U to Ur table. Dined here this afternoon with my girlfriend. She had Sunday roast, I had fish and chips. Both of us were left disappointed. The batter on my fish and chips wasnt crispy, it was soft and mushy, chips were cold. Front of house were great, very efficient and friendly and they get the 3 stars. (not just because they knocked off 25% from the bill as the food wasnt good)

We were met with a prompt greeting and were seated straight away with no reservation (it may have helped that was early still). The food was tasty, the atmosphere was very good but the service from Tequila that alone is worth coming back for. 5*

I was disappointed with the very limited Vegan selection. I chose the Classic Plant Burger from the Mains under £8.00. With the burger came tiny pieces of lettuce, onion and tomato and a few skin-on chips..The small quantity of sauce had soaked into the bun. I did not complain at the time, as my friend insisted on paying. I used to go to the Spruce Goose with my wife as it is very close to where we live. I have not been for a long time, since my wife became ill and has since died. I thought it would be nice to take my friends there yesterday. I will not be going there again!!

Always good.Staff are lovely, very helpful, and although a weekend, managed to keep the breakfast buffet topped up beautifully.

All you can eat breakfast appears to have 3 different qualifying criteria for children so that's confusing. The cooked offerings were not particularly great, but the other items were pretty good. Only one coffee machine causes delays which is irritating. The staff seemed efficient which was great.

Food was good for the type of food it was. Staying in the premier inn travelling with my son. Adam the server was amazing, he spotted my son’s sunflower lanyard for hidden disabilities and made an extra special effort with him! Cannot fault this lovely man’s service at all he was fantastic from start to finish and is a great asset to your restaurant! Thank you so much 😊

Booked a big table for family meal with Wheelchair access but we ended up split up on 2 tables. Was very busy and only a couple of servers, took 45mins to order food and when it arrived it was only warm.

booked table for Sunday evening but was very disappointed to be told they had run out of Sunday roast. At 6 15pm with a fully booked restaurant, this seemed ludicrous.

Ate here for two nights . Tequilla was my waitress and very happy with her excellent level of service. Very pleasant, and accommodating. She is a good asset to the restaurant .

Standard modern hotel pub with so so atmosphere and decent enough choice of food and drink, however the fruit flies are ridiculous. We spent much of the night swatting them away; we couldn't face ordering food with all the flies around. Previous reviews mention them so I'm not sure why it's not been sorted.

Have been here twice after going to milestones. Not much choice of healthy food, the rest is pretty expensive for what you get. Went here yesterday and the men's toilets were horrible and had loads of flies, which then were coming out into the restaurant area onto the food. They really should get this sorted. Service is usually pretty good, recently got served by Tequila who was really helpful.

On 4th January me and my hubby to be had a very lovely time here for dinner, we enjoyed the meal, service, everything. 100% recommend to anyone who is looking for places to go for family dinner, dates etc.

Honestly the best meal out I’ve had in forever! The salmon was beautiful!. The steak was bloody perfect too(tested the other half’s) amazing! The staff were brilliant! Thank you guys so much for a lovely start to our new year celebrations. Adam (our Waiter) was very funny, all the staff were working their bums off to keep everyone happy, thank you sooooo much! Really welcoming , accommodating and helpful. Most notable the breakfast as the lovely server went the extra mile to ensure my bacon was cooked how I liked it . She didn’t have to at all however going above and beyond ! The lovely gentleman who welcomed me was the same gentleman on previous occasions and was always smiling and had time for everyone making sure things were right . Impressed to say the least ! I regularly travel for work and (so far ) this is one of the best beefeaters - linked to premium inn’s for helpful staff

Very disappointing meal out for our Granddaughters 8th birthday. Certainly no fun factor. Negative elf service. Seemed very matter of fact that the much awaited for igloo chocolate pudding was not available. As was several starters & mains. Elder granddaughter requested 2 items to be removed from her burger & was told that in my day you got what you were given. Definately will not be returning.

Not the most inviting entrance and don't forget to log your car for free parking. The restaurant itself seems stuck in the 80s and could do with a bit of an updo. However, service was excellent. Friendly, professional and caring. Wish I had picked up the server's name, she was lovely. And, the food was delicious. Steak perfectly cooked and all served on piping hot plates. Superb. If you have ice cream for dessert, get the raspberry sauce!

I was staying in the Premier Inn next door for four nights. I ate here three nights, and the food order was messed up twice. I chose to eat somewhere else on the fourth night. One mistake I can overlook. Two in three nights I wont. Ill now choose a different hotel for my next Basingstoke stay. Send the staff to Hull North, to see how a Beefeater should run.

It ain't gourmet, but it doesn't pretend to be like so many 'pubs'! Great party venue. There were at least 3 large parties going on while I was there. The staff were magnificent! The Kitchen deserves a mention. Huge level of skill and competency in producing meals for 14+ per party, every table appeared to get their meals together. Respect!

The service from Tequila was outstanding

I waited for so long to be seated that I eventually gave up and left. They weren't busy, there were plenty of staff. Just none interested in serving.

We got a table on Sunday, 10th November and the person who sat us down asked if it was our first time at a Beefeater, which it was. He was really nice and explained about the menus and that our table server would be with us shortly to take our orders. Unfortunately, we forgot to take his name, but he was very professional and friendly! We were served by Lily first who took our drink and food orders and then she handed us over to Dora who then served our food. Both Lily and Dora were superb with attention to detail as well as being very friendly, helpful and professional on a very busy lunch day! We were very impressed by both, they are an asset to the company! :) The food was very tasty, we ordered the festive 2 course menu, we will definitely go again! Thank you to all 3 members of staff! Everything was truly amazing. From the delicious food to wonderful and smiley staff. We had one of the best waitress I have ever encountered. Absolutely will come back again.

We arrived 25 minutes early for a reservation and there was a lengthy queue, due to the manager seating customers, while taking orders, serving food, clearing and cleaning tables, while 2 members of staff were just sitting down with nothing to do, and I have never had a prawn cocktail with avocado before, it was disgusting

I really can't endorse this establishment enough. The food is sensational and the service is even better. They make you feel as if you're the only customer in the building. I spoke to the manager, Lee and he is such a personable person. Clearly the staff are following his exemplary example. If you decide to come to Basingstoke, you won't be disappointed by visiting this fine establishment.

Had my birthday here with 15 freinds,everything went really well

Went for a breakfast today, bacon looked grey and like it had been out far too long, bean juice congealed in the dish where the beans had been! Eggs rock hard as must have been out some time. Most dishes nearly empty and not replenished. Hardly any bread and what was left must have been out a while as it was stale. No jam, no sweeteners! Regardless of whether you are the first or last customer the food standard should be the same as you pay the same price! Not a patch on the Premier Inn breakfast at top of town where the lady takes pride in the food she presents. Will not return here for breakfast ever. Very disappointing and a waste of money.

Polite staff. Quiet when we were there. Clean and tidy. Visited again for a family occasion our (2nd wedding anniversary). Prebooked the table fortunately as it was very busy and that was at 6.pm. The service from being greeted ,shown to table and ordering was extremely efficient, friendly and professional. Our waitress Vicky was a 🌟. She knew the food and drinks menu, the options and what went with what. She was very attentive and obliging in not only our initial order but further requests from us throughout our meal. We expected quite a delay waiting for our food as it was so busy but No the food arrived promptly and hot. When finished the table was quickly cleared and dessert arrived in good timing. Thanks to all the staff for a quite memorable evening. We would highly recommend this restaurant.

Came in on a busy friday night for some drinks, amazing deal of 2 for £12 on the cocktails. I didn’t fancy one of the drinks so i requested to have something changed in it, and it was no problem for them! Bar staff are lovely and although it was busy it was very quick service!

Amazing steak! Me and my husband came in on a busy Saturday evening and was warmly greeted by the manager who promptly showed me to my table. We had amazing fillet steaks cooked to perfection followed by some huge sundaes. Would highly recommend if you are in the area.

Absolutely awful £17.99 for a very dry very small portion of ribs with very small half of a frozen chicken piece. Take a look at the photo take a look at the corn on the cob. Who won Earth cuts a small portion off of a corn on a cob and serves it up with the meal? 8 chips. Poorly cooked and hard. . We also ordered a curry and when I complained that it was quite obviously microwaved the server just smiled at me apologetically. I would have demanded my money back but my partner was so unhappy she just wanted to go home. Truly the worst restaurant experience I have ever had in Basingstoke. I wouldn't feed it to my dog avoid this place at all costs.

Nicely cooked food. Best to book as busy. Friendly staff and keen to please. Always great meals when I have been. Remember to put your car registration into the machine by reception for 3 hours free parking.

Was there in a party of 6. All enjoyed the food. All retired to the bar afterwards for a couple of hours.

Great food, I had the steak sampler. Cooked really well. Great spicy sauce on the side. Kids food was served quickly and really hot which we prefer. Great service by a decent bloke (he said he used to be 19s stone if that helps,.but he is really slim now. Great work and that may help you identify him). Digital tips should go to the server as FYI. Strongly recommend.

The standard for buffet breakfast is already quite low. Somehow, this place lowers the bar further. Food was absolutely grim. There's not a single redeeming factor.

This place has really come a long way in recent years and good service is a cornerstone of this. Been here twice now this month, in large part due to fantastic service By Tequilla, she is professional, personable, knowledgable and well presented. You are lucky to have her. Had dinner here and the food was very good, served hot and was tasty. Lili our waitress was very quick, efficient and friendly.

Food was okay service was not great our waitress was chewing gum whiles talking to us and blowing bubbles with it as she was walking round. Service also wasn’t good as they took a long time to bring two out of the 3 drinks we ordered then when we ordered pudding the waitress took the order then didn’t give it to the kitchen so we didn’t receive them for 20 minutes.

Nice welcome from the start. The hosts, the elder gentleman and Sinead, the waitress, were so friendly under busy circumstances, but she had it all under control. Well done. The steak was cooked a perfect medium.

Self service buffet which is too small for the venue capacity. Food is standard Beefeater, which is perfectly acceptable, but need table service or more buffet points and coffee machine points.

Really friendly staff and even though the food is cheap, I absolutely love it. I have had meals twice as expensive and half as good at other restaurants. All the staff were happy and smiley which is always nice. One thing I loved, is that my son chose Mac n cheese and changed his mind (to be fair, it didn't mention the fact it had loads of vegetables inside it on the menu, I wouldn't have liked it either) and the waitress happily let him have a burger instead at no extra cost.

Breakfast is a bargain with loads on offer. Kids eat free so for me and the 2 kids it came to £11 . That’s less than £3.5 each for latte’s , coffee , pancakes, muffins , fruit salad , ceareal, juice croissants and as much of the full hot selection as you can eat. Great deal and great service from team. We will be back and recommend for any family with kids.

Came to the spruce after swimming with the kids. We found the place very well priced and the kids ate free. Our steaks were cooked as ordered but our favourite was the millionaire cheese cake. Service all round was excellent and our waitress was spot on. Would recommend booking . We will definitely be back. TheThank Spruceys.
