Good food & great service from Olly & the team thanks

Food service very slow. Asked for large wine and served a small one. Second glass came after I had finished main course. Not ideal.

Came down for a Sunday roast. I have to say I was impressed with the food and service. Rob really stood out as he made my meal a lot more enjoyable, always with a smile on his face and ready to satisfy your every need.

I have recently visited this pub with my wife for a meal and the food was fantastic and the staff seem very happy and jolly. Always smiling. We had the pleasure of rob being our waiter and I must say he is an asset to your pub. Very professional kind and courteous and a great service.

We visited today for my mums birthday turned up car park had a few cars we asked for a table to be asked if we had booked we said no , they had lots of free tables as was not busy was told sorry we can’t seat you so I said is it ok if we sit out side as we was only having a quick lunch for my mums birthday with her Grt granddaughters they said if you want still looking around at all the tables empty that they said had been pre booked we ordered are food my mum and dads food came quick kids starter came out then after 30 minutes I went in and asked for our food to be told they was serving a big table first after 45 minutes waiting it came out my parents had obviously finished there’s my order was wrong I told the lady who said I can change it but I didn’t want to risk waiting more time so just got on with it and while we sat outside only two more cars of people went into the restaurant lots of empty tables still so why they could not have seated us inside I don’t know when I went in to ask about our food a couple with a child was asked if they had booked they said no but they seated them in the restaurant we use the swan as a family a lot and this by far the worst experience ever my mum never complains but she was so annoyed about how we was treated and her and my dad said they would never return after today

I had a meal and drinks on Friday evening and the food was hot and tasted great and hats off to Rob the bloke that served us. He was so polite and professional, just made us feel right at home so thank you.

Lovely meal and catch up with friends at the The Swann. Staff lovely as always. Good food.

I have never got better customer service in my life, I have lived on this earth since 1982 and no has come close to how your delivered my food it was like watching my first born coming from the stars into my arms and watching him grow just like your meal, if I could I would clean the floors with me tongue to eat your food again, thank you Robert thick I will remember you for the rest of my life like Ryan Gosling in the notebook.

Food not as described and missing items/inadequate size. Would not recommend.

Came into the pub last night with a couple of friends. For a couple of drinks. We went into the quiet bar but service was poor. I stood at the bar and the barmaid saw me and walked past me she was busy doing something else. The pub was very quiet. I stood and waited for about 5-6 minutes and she didn't return. I went through to the main bar only to find the solitary barmaid was out from the bar chatting to friends about arranging a night out. This is while I was waiting to be served. I then coughed loudly to get her attention. I then was served drinks. No apology given. There was other bar staff in the pub, god knows what they were doing. No wonder the pub was empty. I will not be returning in a hurry. I feel that the staff really didn't care much about paying customer. Truly shocking service.

The food was excellent. Thr service was very good and Oli was very polite and efficient.

Had sunday roast dinner for four people today. Unfortunately, the potatoes were small and uniform. Clear sign of poor quality frozen product. It's pretty tasteless as well. Accompanied by under cooked parsnip and frozen diced vegetables. Advertised "pink" roast beef overcooked. Along with tough pork. It's not really a meal for a pub with a good historical reputation. Edible but not memorable!

I went to visit Swan for the first time yesterday, and I had the worst Sunday roast pork in my life - Yorkshire pudding tasted old and the potatoes were rock hard that I couldn't even cut through it. It was very disappointing for the price of it. I also ordered a hot chocolate, and had to go back to the bar as it just tasted like warm milk. Again, just disappointing for the price you pay. The team is friendly and they have a nice outdoor seats but I was very disappointed with the food and beverage.

We’ve visited the swan pub several times in the past now, we called in to the swan when we are visiting family, the food at the swan is always good quality and plenty, the staff are always so friendly warm and welcoming, the day we called in at the swan the weather was beautiful, so we found a seat in the garden area which is lovely, lots of seating and tables, also which is helpful it’s a dog friendly pub,

Back again for a visit with family. Not disappointed. Food great service great.

Don’t bother. Expensive and overcooked. Fish dry and chewy. Scampi tiny pieces with no flavour and slimy inside - weirdest scampi I have ever tried. Chicken burger thin and overcooked. No relish. Child’s meal came out 10 mins after adults meals. Garlic bread was laughable . Burnt bits from fryers on plate. Shame as lovely pub. Lovely garden but food lets it down

Absolutely faultless service by lilly, she looked after us all evening and was very attentive, very good waitress considering only 3 weeks into it.

Visited many time all ok but went on Good Friday evening and food was rubbish except fish and chips and not worth the money. They need a chief

I had a steak that was un edible,when i complained to the restaurant manager he said steak is some times like that 17£s for a plate of chips.

We went to the Swan on Good Friday and was great as always. The restaurant was extremely busy with every table occupied but the food and service was superb as always. We love visiting the Swan and we will definitely be back again very soon.

The food is good and specials are usually excellent. It’s got a nice atmosphere in there and doesn’t feel like it’s part of a larger chain. The service there is always great, was served by Lilly tonight and she was brilliant. Clear that she was pretty busy as it’s the start of the bank holiday weekend but still gave such good service and was just generally lovely.

Despite pub owners saying how they're struggling to operate in this environment, it baffles me when there are members of staff standing around. The bar was consistently busy, but the management didn't appear to be bothered about getting more staff to help serve. It's really simple as "Do you want our money or not"

Great afternoon catching up with friends Garlic mushroom starter lovely coronation sandwich nice..but the best was pork belly had a little sample off my mates plate lush highlay recommended Lost glasses at table phoned up happy to look and found them Definitely recommended here 👌 will be back very soon..thanks to all including the kitchen

An enjoyable night, seemed quite busy in the restaurant and bar area. Slight problem the heating was up full whack in the bar area when it was warm and humid outside. The only available table was by the radiator which couldn't be turned off. Maybe this was why I brought more drinks! good marketing tactic Swan Management it worked to your advantage

Very nice and quiet, food nice and service was very good the guy that served us was very nice.

All members of staff were very welcoming even tho it was a very busy Saturday evening. David our server was very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. It may sound like standard pub grub but the food was a 10/10 from both me and my husband. We will certainly be booking again very soon.

This place has gone downhill. Service at the bar is horrendous. I stand waiting while 2 staff members are doing odd jobs, even though the pub isn't busy. Hate how bad this place has got after the last managers. In response, I was the only person stood at the bar and you saw me walk in and walked away. Plus there was 3 tables seated in the dining area, but it's also the attitude very unwelcoming.

A lovely pub, with a nice atmosphere and good outdoor seating area. Food was delicious and reasonably priced, but everything was so slow. Sunday lunchtime not heaving, but most tables taken, what looked like enough waiting staff. We waited around 30 minutes at every stage. 30 mins to receive starters, once cleared another 30mins til main course, same waiting time for dessert. A nice time but just very long-winded.

We haven't eaten here for sometime, so it was a great blessing to me to exerience how good it all was. Service was spot on, not a long wait and plenty of tables to choose from

Had a lovely meal , great, friendly service and tried the hake and chips . Gorgeously crispy fish, tangy mayo and tasty jacket potato chips. Very happy and content!

Our today's visit at Swan was a far away from what we expected. My husband and I waited an hour (!!!) for our mains. The order wasn't complicated. We orderd drinks (jouice and tea), 2x soups and 2x mains. It never happened to us we had to wait so long for our disches. After we finshed we felt like staff was avoiding us, because noone took our empty plates for a while and noone looked at us if we need something. And the worst part was, people who came at the rastaurant after us have been served earlier. Whole visit was far away as it should be. Defenitely not recomended and will not come back.

Visited the Swan for lunch today and was lovely. Beautiful sunny day so will definitely be back when the weather is warmer to enjoy a nice meal in the garden. Today I had cod and chips and was not disappointed. Staff friendly and service nice and quick.

Been to place a few times over the years last visit was appalling the attitude by ollie was appalling you could tell he did not want to be there untill payday

Ollie and David were very attentive and hospitable all evening. No request was too much bother for them and they made us feel very welcome. We shall be back!

Visited for lunch on a rainy day the pub is really quaint lots of parking which was great there is a great garden but on the day we visited it was raining so I’m guessing in the summer a nice place to sit outside service was super friendly the bar area is really warm and welcoming I had the steak pie for lunch and it’s was really good big portion and piping hot would definitely recommend

The Swan is our go-to for yummy gluten free options. The management team go above and beyond to make it an enjoyable visit. The decor is lovely, toilets clean and the garden area is fab in the warmer months. The Sunday roasts are worth their own mention!

My wife had an operation scheduled at Basingstoke Hospital on 15th Jan - was a major op re cancer diagnosis and went on for 5 hours. We stayed at the hospital for 2 weeks in total. While she was in surgery, i went for a walk in the countryside to take my mind off events - after an hour or so of walking, i ended up at the Swan (i had looked it up before starting walk!). I was warmly welcomed by the staff there, who were really helpful as well as accommodating ( they helped me with where to find a local village shop and post office) While there, i noticed a promotion on the website regarding AllTrails where you used their app for a local walk and ended up at the pub for a free breakfast. So, on the Friday morning, i completed another long walk, helped by All trails, and arrived at the Swan for 9am. I had a lovely breakfast, eggs Benedict, presented beautifully and really tasty - and although tempting, resisted having a pint with it… 9am just too early! I came back the following week for a sandwich at lunchtime - again, lovely food, well presented and tasty! Thank you to the Swan - i would thoroughly recommend to anyone wanting a warm welcome, great food and a well deserved drink - whether you’ve had a long walk in the country or just driven there. Will definitely be back.

The high point was the very helpful member of staff I met on arrival. She set a table convenient for the accessible toilet and entrance to car park ( I am disabled so this was important to me). The meal my daughter and I had were awful. We ordered Sunday roasts. The advertised garlic & rosemary duck fat roast potatoes were tiny and clearly frozen roast potatoes and tasteless. The roasted root vegetables amounted to a tiny frozen parsnip, again tasteless. The sausage meat stuffing was approx. 1 inch by half an inch in size and so hard it couldn't be eaten! The carrot and swede mash, well it wasn't mash at all... it was tiny pieces diced and very minimal portion size. There was a forkful amount of cabbage. The crackling was not real crackling and aprrox. 2 inches by 1 inch square shaped. A very poor meal in quality, quantity and tasteless. This was my first visit to this pub and certainly my last.... my advice is to steer clear and drive on by!

Thinking of going to the swan. DONT! We waiting over an hour for 2 burgers to come out which then came out with burnt buns. While we waited 8 other tables left due to the wait of the food.

We ‘re Swan regulars they never fail Took grandkids for breakfast with Santa last week the little ones loved it it was very well done and the team were amazing plus the grown-ups got to have a scrummy breakfast so it was a win-win for all well done Swan

This was our first visit to the pub and we were disappointed. Very slow service for food which was nothing to shout about and no apology when questioned about why the main course took nearly an hour and a half. We'll probably be back for drinks but will stay clear of the food.

Came for a Christmas dinner with family, the food was absolutely fantastic, and came out very quickly too despite the server saying it might take a bit longer. Ollie and Kaitlyn were spectacular, very friendly and made sure we were all okay. Thank you all very much, really memorable meal!

Christmas menu! Couldn’t wait to try the Christmas menu as soon as it started and was not disappointed. Beef cheeks were amazing as were the king prawn starter. Now serving mulled wine which I look forward to each year and an alcohol free version available too which is great. Great service as always cannot recommend enough!

Lovelybpub with great food. Service suffered in pre Christmas rush with several large parties in. That said right from the off they advised of an hour wait for food and gave us the option to try elsewhere. We didn't and were glad. Greene king winter warmer was lovely!!

Me and my husband went for our anniversary on Sunday at 2pm, was very disappointed with the quality of food and the service was very slow, our visit was 2 hours for 2 courses. I had the Ham hock because a few items were unavailable, this came with honey roasted veg, well actually it was 1 carrot and half a parsnip, the brussel sprout were frozen one's, Ti's the season for Brussels!!! Yet they were frozen. The mash potato was most definitely powederd mash. The dessert was also frozen fruit!! Extremely disappointed, The Swan has always been a great place for its food over the years, so come on The Swan get some fresh vegetables.

Beautiful classic pub with a friendly atmosphere, great staff, and a great range of food and drink. Always make you feel welcome. Love this place for an evening meal or just to grab a lunch on a summers day. Can get busy sometimes but that's only a sign of it's popularity. :)

We were welcomed and served by Ollie who went out of his way to make sure we enjoyed the food. The pub is gorgeous the ambience perfect. We will definitely be going back and it is dog friendly inside and out with lovely walks surrounding it to walk off those extra calories. Thank you Chef and Brewer

Food was hit and miss. Belly pork delicious but fried cod a mean portion with too much batter. Service friendly but painfully slow. Not waiting staffs' fault, only two of them for a very busy lunchtime. Seems to be the norm these days, management should look to themselves.

We visited early doors so diners were thin, Ollie looked after us well. Personally a good selection of menu choices were available and they arrived at the table hot and well presented, good value for money and, these diners (us) left well fed.

4 of us went for Sunday lunch and we were served by Ollie. Our meals were excellent the service was brilliant - we will be back again - thank you!

We came across this pub after not being able to get into a couple of places in town and we are very pleased we did manage to get a table here .We were a party of 8 and Ollie and Maddy made us very welcome.the food was delicious,we had a mixture of meals as we had children with us the service was efficient .The swan pub is definitely a pub I would be happy to visit again .

We turned up on spec with no booking. Maddy looked after us extremely well and was very professional. All three of us enjoyed our meal and will return.

We have always visited The Swan in Basingstoke. Recently been there back to back with different company😅 The service was really good and they were quite attentive and not to mention the excellent food choices they offer. Nice quiet, cosy country pub. Great location, lots of parking. Friday lunch time visit & was very happy with the food & the service. Both had daily specials.

Great service from Maddy, she delivered the lack of toad in the hole or pear frangipane from the specials and was very attentive, checking in to see if we wanted more drinks too! We will be back for that toad 😆
