The Tea Bar in Basingstoke and Deane

We had a baby shower today and it was fantastic. The staff went above and beyond to make sure everything run smoothly. The tables where laid beautifully and they had kept a sofa area free for us to use too. The food was tasty and plentyful and drinks (t as and coffees) flowing. Couldn't have asked for a better place to be. All 13 of us had a great time and it's a relaxed enough environment there to be able to have a giggle. We had a dairy free person with us too, and her afternoon tea was fabulous! We will be returning!

Want for a spot of afternoon drinks and munch! Hot chocolates were amazing and the coffee was really nice! Treats were second to none! Recommended fully!!

The Tea bar is my go to place for lunch with friends or an evening out. Daytime, there’s a good range of excellent quality food with friendly service. The setting itself is wonderfully decorated. Evenings- there’s always fantastic entertainment on to suit everyone’s tastes. It’s always a great atmosphere where everyone is friendly. The manager looks after the customers well, drinks are served quickly and reasonably priced. You’re always guaranteed a great time here!

Fabulous from start to finish. Always a great atmosphere with friendly, attentive staff. Very welcoming whether popping in on your own or with a few friends. The decor is very cool and a highlight for me is definitely the variety of live music every weekend from acoustic artists or a full band, all tastes are catered for...I've never been disappointed. Would 100% recommend a visit day or night 😊 love this place!

Great venue for live music, with a real mix of musicians and styles to suit most tastes, I personally like almost all of the acts playing here. Staff are diligent and friendly, door staff are great, keeping a low profile unless required, even then they seem nice and efficient so trouble is kept to a minimum so it has a really good vibe, a really good place to have a night out

Refused to serve even though I was sober. Tried to charge 10 pound for 3 beers even though the deal on was 3 pounds for 4. Just lost good custom. Very negative experience.

Had a great night out in here with a live musician. Great atmosphere. Had a brilliant night. The only thing is, we had a cocktail that wasn't made right. We took it back and the barman refused to redo it properly.

Not enough spacing between/ poor seating arrangement meant people climbing all over the sofa to reach and exit from a seat behind the sofa, regardless of whether people were sat on the sofa.

You get lemonade for the price of a drink. The DOUBLE gin and tonic didn't taste any gin, so check what is poured into your drinks!

Lovely bar in the centre of Basingstoke, good range of cocktails and helpful staff.

I came with a friend on a night out it was Kareoke night and there was a good atmosphere. Unfortunately the service was shocking. Half of the staff don't know how to make cocktails or the names of them on their own menu. Don't get me wrong they were friendly enough but it took an age to get drinks.

Awful, booked a table over a week before going to find no table, band that was advertised was not playing, manager was rude, uninterested and confrontational, won’t be going again

It's a cool place, somewhere to open a serious newspaper, take a picture and post it... Well worth a visit.. I loved it

We visited during the day when it was a café. We passed by in the evening and were surprised to find that it had turned into a very lively bar. The service in the day was very good my only negative was that the settee we chose to sit at had slightly collapsed.

Cool vibes and fantastic live entertainment

One of the only places for a casual night in Basingstoke but I'd avoid it if you want to talk to anyone because the music is too loud and for context a nightclub is easier to talk through, same happens during live music so I tend to just chat with friends in the garden area as most people do

Lovely evening at a charity event. Unfortunately they don't have a disabled toilet and I couldn't use the stairs to the toilets with my bad legs so had to leave early..

One of us had brie, bacon and red onion panini with salad garnish. It was tasty, hot and delicious with an Italian beer. The other had coronation chicken sandwich with red onion and side salad. The sandwich was well filled and very tasty without being too spicy hot. The service was excellent with pleasant and helpful staff. This is a hidden gem in Old Basingstoke which is less crowded than the malls. We would return to it.

Such a great place to go with great live music and an awesome atmosphere. The bar staff are so friendly and always polite, they even dance behind the bar which is great to see... Happy employees. Good beers, fair prices and nice decor. The only thing letting it down is the people that control the music must be hard of hearing, as its always stupendously loud, even at the start of the night!

The cup of the that I had was cold and there is nothing for people with dietary requirements such as myself which in today's day is disgusting more people are ending up with dietary problems no gluten and wheat free bread I decided on salad I asked for tuna but that comes with mayo. I don't want mayo

Great bit of lunch today between shopping and hair cuts. The soup of the day was just what was needed for this time of year, and the baked camambert is a solid favourite on the menu. The cocktails were well made, with THE best Mojito in town. Friendly staff, great service. Always a pleasure to be here.

Always a must when me and my work colleagues come into town for a night out. Love the karaoke scene and enjoy the customer service very much. Tight in space but by then I'm already drunk due to low prices on Bottles/pints. Spirits are a little expensive but then again where isn't? Thank you!

Nice food and cakes. Unlike some cafes, you will still be asked to pay for a drink, even if you only had a sip and didn't like it, whereas some cafes will let you exchange it for something else but other than that a lovely place. They were kind enough to allow a dog owner in too.

The teabar is a great place to meet during the day, for a cup of tea and cake and then the evening it turns into a bar, always plenty going on at the teabar, every weekend there is something different. Lots of good live bands. Staff are friendly and service is great. Great atmosphere day and night

Really fantastic venue, we had a party here recently and the staff were so accommodating, they made it a really nice time, the range of drinks available are great too.

Third visit with friends and every time is amazing . We love the atmosphere, never any trouble . Staff are very friendly. Karaoke night was amazing , the host was very good. Everyone had a nice time and it was packed like it always is. One of our favourite places to go to.

Family feel bar and tea room, rustic style with lots of space , leather couches and old wooden furniture. The scones , cakes and platters as tea room is great and for those not in the mood for tea have anything from the bar ! It’s perfect for kids with toys in the back but is not a “kiddie” place with lots of kids. The clotted cream and scones are fantastic! The cheese , pate and chutneys on toast and the coronation chicken sandwiches also must be tried !

Went here with a friend for afternoon tea the safe here are so friendly and easy to talk to the food was amazing and they are happy to deal with any special requests the tea was unlimited which was nice and great value for money

We came here for Afternoon tea and the staff were lovely and we received an excellent service! The food looked all homemade which was a nice idea but some of the food was a bit bland. There was a private party going on so it was fairly loud, we would have rather been told so we could have come a different day. Overall I think the staff tried but the atmosphere wasn’t great and the food wasn’t to my taste.

First time experience, was a very lively bar. Music was very loud so difficult to communicate with people. The drinks were average price, didn't like the fact I was charged £5 for one drink on card and £4.80 for another on card. Same pint of Stowford Press but 2 prices? Would like to say I'd return as it is much cleaner than some of the places in town.

I had my 30th Birthday here and would recommend to everyone. The team are efficient and communicate well. They met all my needs and more. The live music on the night was great quality and made a change to hiring a hall and dj! Thank you guys for making my birthday so special! <3

The Tea Bar is where comfy casual overcomes the stuffy formal British tea experience. It’s a gathering place offering food, coffee drinks, alcoholic beverages and a laid back vibe. Think Norah Jones singing Come Away With Me. The couches are comfy but larger tables host business meetings and proper ladies teas too. The cakes, scones, and such are delightful. Great experience at the Top of the Town.

I feel myself good at the point that 10 minutes before midnight I go outside to say goodbye my friend. And the security guy doesn't let me go back to use the toilet before I leave because they close midnight. The place is ok. But don't forget! The last memory from the place overwrite the good one before. I won't go back this place ever. And I will advise my friend as well to don't do it. I was not drunk at all...

Basingstoke Festival was hosting a storytelling event at this venue a few days ago - I was taken there by a friend who knows the area.

We went here for drinks fri night as found there hardly any bars in Basingstoke! But it was nice and karaoke was fun to watch. Also went for breakfast the following morning and had scrambled eggs and coffee which was nice. Nice atmosphere and nicely decorated.

Friendly service peacefully atmosphere

Okay place to go for drinks. Sadly, when I visited some staff were very rude, especially security. I'm okay with them standing up to trouble makers but when you're having quite drinks with friends and they threaten you, it's just not acceptable. Most of the bar staff were nice though, and made drinks quickly.

Really liked this. looked good and staff very friendly. Only went in for a tea as it looked nice and ended up having a lunch which we very much enjoyed.

May be I'm old, but frankly we went to the Tea Bar on a Friday night and there were two old blokes on the stage trying to sing - both tone deaf. Great during the day time but not for me in the evening. Each to their own but not for the cultered. Sorry but it was bad.

A quiet, relaxing establishment, reminiscent of a very large living room! Comfortable sofa's and surroundings. With well kept Guinness, served by a pleasant young lady; a tad expensive, but worth it!
