We stayed at the Woolpack while in the area for a friends wedding. Lizzie was a fabulous waitress - checking in and making sure we were well looked after. New menu items such as the linguine were delicious and the burger was especially standout. Thank you team for a great stay

We had a great stay at the Woolpack Inn. It's the kind of British countryside gem you hope to find on your travels. Oozing charm, and with staff that goes above and beyond in making you feel welcome. Thank you Tina for giving us a ride to the wedding! We hope to be back someday

The pub location is very good, easy to find. It's on the Alresford to Preston Candover road. It's dog friendly indoors and out and has a garden with tables. The menu is unusual and not really traditional pub food, more restaurant. I had beef sirloin roast which I found very fatty. This is often the case a good size portion. I had chalk stream trout as a starter which was very good and not something I have had before.

Even when you ring, speak to someone and confirm that food is being served this is not enough. Drove 20 mins with the kids after confirming it all and when we arrive the food is off and there are no options. Not even an apology or any kind of understanding. Either hire better staff, train the ones you have or read a book on customer service. Pathetic

Beautiful pub set in the heart of Hampshire countryside. The interior is well decorated, nice and cozy with an open fire place. The food quality is pretty impressive. We really enjoyed our chunky chip, great texture and flavor. Looking forward to trying more of their dishes. It is 2 rosette and 4 star hotel so the menu reflects this. Highly recommended to visit this pub. However, I would love if this pub offer a proper place to park your bicycles. There are many cyclists stopping here during their cycle ride but there's nowhere decent to park your bikes. I ended up leaning against a tree or fence.

I had a one night stay whilst working in the area, as well as staying in the hotel I also ate in the restaurant. The staff were all outstanding, from check-in to dinner to departure. My company (not the hotel) had actually messed up the payment for the hotel but the manager handled this very professionally and kindly with the issue resolved smoothly and in no time at all my company were able to make payment. I mentioned I had an early start and would be skipping breakfast, the next thing a hamper of cereal, and crossaints was brought up to my room, with fresh juice and milk in an ice bucket - so thoughtful and it made me feel so welcomed. The stay exceeded all expectation. The hotel room was spotless, warm and comfortable. The open brickwork wall and thoughtful interior furnishings create a luxury vibe. The bathroom was tiled throughout with a monsoon shower head. The clean spotless bathroom also benefited from a heated towel rail. Finally, I will mention the Woolpack Burger was worth the stay alone and strongly recommend it.

A really wonderful experience for a birthday getaway. The Woolpack isn't immediately surrounded by much so if you're looking to get away from it then this is the place. The food is great with one vegetarian meal per section even though it's known as a game-shooting pub, the rooms are a little on the small side but very nicely done up and the staff - oh, the staff! Every single person we interacted with was friendly, attentive and capable. We also drove to the brewery in nearby Four Marks and had a wonderful shopping experience at Long Barn. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED and thank you again, Woolpack!

We were in the area walking and stopped here for a drink, thinking about eating here. We read read the latest review, which wasn't good. On closer examination, the menu looks expensive, and any establishment that serves a burger with tasteless 'Monterey Jack' cheese should know a lot better. We decided to move on. There are better pubs around, namely the Purefoy in Preston Candover, which is leagues ahead!

I had been looking for a lovely place to have lunch for my husbands birthday. The Woolpack had been suggested by friends, and I had high hopes. Unfortunately we were placed in the dining area with no other diners. The atmosphere was not good, and we felt like staff were busy getting the area ready for later in the evening. I suspect we would have been better off in the pub section of the restaurant. The food was nice but not amazing, and overall we left a little disappointed given how much we had spent.

Unsure when this changed hands. You used to be able to order a hearty plateful here. The quality of the food has always been fabulous and the chef is obviously brilliant, however the portions are so small the food wouldn't fill you for more than half an hour and you'll want to be ordering again. The prices are reasonably on the pricy side so you would expect a good sized portion on your plate. Not great value for money. This might explain the fact that there were only a couple of tables eating on a Saturday evening.

Good sized double bed, plenty of storage space, great sized bathroom with an amazing bath. Advise given regarding local walks. We ate in The Woolpack that night, and our food was very tasty and melted in the mouth. A little bit pricey, but the quality of the food made up for that. Dogs made very welcome, and snacks on the bar and in the rooms for them. Breakfast was superb - a range of cereals, fruits and yoghurts to help yourself too. Husband had the full English and Wow - all products locally sourced too. I had eggs benedict one morning, and scrambled egg with guacamole on toast the next. Eggs cooked to perfection. This is a great pub and we visit it frequently. Good food, good beer, friendly staff.BUT the dog treat container on the bar is now rarely present. Our dogs used to stop at the gate of the pub, asking us to go in when we passed on a walk - because they knew that there were treats inside. Now, without treats, we are much less likely to stop at the pub and spend money.Every dog owner knows the persuasiveness of dogs. Not to have dog treats at a country pub which many visit with dogs - perhaps on a walk that passes the door - is short-sighted.Our dogs say: "Bring back the treats!".
