Pizza Express in Basingstoke and Deane

Really nice place. The system was down and the man was very rude. Being neurodivergent, this made me uncomfortable for the rest of the evening. He didn't attempt to apologise for his attitude or tone, but knew he messed up as continued to come over and try to make small talk afterwards.

2hrs 30mins late. children are now in bed we have eaten already. great service just eat.😞 I will never use again. our order is now in the bin 👍🏻

The order was placed at 5.30pm and didnt come until 7.45pm. Disgraceful. Food was freezing and disappointing both pizza express and just eat responsible. Poor poor poor.

Arrived over 90 mins after the original estimate and while tasted nice was all stone cold.

What a great pizza express! The food and service were excellent! The restaurant had s great feeling to it and the food was the best I have ever had in a Pizza Express.

When I ordered the wait time was 35-45 mins, time was 6:55pm food actually arrived at 8:15, my son had to go to hockey practice without any dinner as it wasn’t delivered in time, the app kept changing estimated delivery, I phone the restaurant, when it went up to arrival time 9:10pm, the app said that the courier was at the restaurant waiting for our food, the person on the phone said there wasn’t anyone waiting to collect the food, totally unacceptable, when the food finally arrived it was cold

Visited tonight and had an awful experience. There were plenty staff but seemed like only 1 person was actually working. Waited 15 to be seated at a table. (That’s because only 1 person actually doing something whilst 2 of the other staff was busy unpacking glasses on a shelve). Waited 40 min for main meal, only 4 tables was occupied in the restaurant. The 2 “chefs” didn’t seemed to be doing much and would have felt better if they used gloves when touching the food. Was watching them how they touch their clothes etc then touch the food. Waiters are non existent do cant comment on them? Food was awful. Carbonara was killed with garlic, my son didn’t want to eat it. Calzone was killed with Pesto. Overall experience was just awful and we will not return!!!

We have not visited this Pizza Express before but we felt the service was exceptionally good. There appeared to be just 3 staff members working but they handled the lunchtime rush really well and were all very friendly.

I used to live near here, and often got take out on the way home from work. Have eaten here regularly for many years. We now live in Florida and still visit every time we come home. So that’s close to 30 years in total. Food is always excellent and service to match.

The food was good but one of the waiters just loved to shout and had a really booming voice. It was totally unnecessary. asking for anything - SI, PREGGO! The guy was laying it on so thick and he could be heard from across the restaurant. He gave me a headache. We had the dough balls and a side salad to share, then I ordered the vegan gardinara which was lovely. My partner had a pizza with chicken on. I booked about an hour before visiting and I'm glad we did as it was really busy, lots of people were being turned away. It was a Wednesday evening at 7pm which surprised me, we thought it would be quiet. So definitely visit, but take earplugs!

The order was ready at 5:15 as per receipt and I didn’t receive the order until 6:10 meaning it was extremely cold and horrible - expect compensation

Decent service and food ok only disappointment was as I was driving just wanted an orange juice or any fruit juice but was told don't have only offered fizzy drinks as an alternative or water...

Food was really tasty and hot. The staff were friendly and professional. The only negative would have to be the parking was also atrocious, no clear spaces outlined and people just parked in any open space even blocking cars in. There is however an overflow but I don't think people are aware (even though there's a clear sign...).

Absolutely fantastic. Our server was so kind and friendly, they allowed us to take our time and the food came out very quickly. Chris helped us pay and figure out what we were going to do, he didn't rush us, was very friendly and had a chat with us. He is an absolute asset to the team!

It was not busy, as you'd expect from a Tuesday evening. Yet it still over half an hour for our order to be taken and that was only as I had to go find someone to come and serve us. The table had a variety of intolerances/allergies, and the GF pizzas were minuscule. The calzone, which I've had in other Pizza Express restaurants was also tiny. There really was nothing of note other than a very poor service. The cost of food was highly excessive for what you get, and certainly isn't a taste that would bowl you over. We left a tip, however that is only as it was my partner who paid for the food. So whilst I don't like to be hounded by waiting staff, I also go to a restaurant to eat food and drink, so expect much better service.

The delivery time changed about three rimes . So we waited nearly two hours for the food to be delivered !!

Not my usual experience of this restaurant but today’s visit was a bit disappointing. In fairness they were very busy with a queue of people waiting. We were seated and served quickly, our order was taken promptly and our drinks arrived in good time. We had a delay in getting our mains which when they arrived were not quite up to scratch. My American had loads of cheese but was lacking peperon, my wife’s Padana had far too much chutney and hardly any goats cheese. A bit disappointed! The waitress asked if she should clear our plates but left the empty drinks bottle. The server bringing our mains walked away empty handed. For me when someone brings food out of the kitchen they should not go back with empty hands. Then when I came to pay it turns out you cannot use Tesco vouchers and the App! By claiming free stuff on the app it precludes the use of a voucher. The only reason we were there tonight was because I had some Tescos vouchers due to expire! A bit disappointing, it could perhaps be made clearer by the app not offering you the option to enter a voucher code! Whatever. Everyone is entitled to a bad day and we will go back.

Food was cold. Time it was made on the receipt was an hour before it was delivered.Has happened on multiple occasions now

I haven't been to this restaurant for about 20 years and popped in as was in the area, and was very impressed. Service was superb. Greeted the minute we walked through the door by a friendly and polite chap. The general interior of the place makes for a great atmosphere and the food was superb. The staff were perfect throughout. Very professional. I won't wait 20 years to pop back next time.

Absolute banger.. came quickly, still hot and crispy!

Absolutely love this branch of Pizza Express - the old style building, the Basingstoke heritage brand Burberry decorations on the walls, the (usually) flawless service. However, my most recent visit on Tuesday February 13th 2024 was dampened by a rude manager shouting at her staff; audibly complaining about her staff to the chefs; and walking off before receiving our entire order, instead opting to shout across the restaurant and have us shout back to complete our request. She really could have done with taking it down a peg - the restaurant wasn't even at capacity, so all we could hear while trying to conversate and enjoy our dinners was this manager authoritatively barking orders at her waitresses. Despite this, we still very much enjoyed our food and the lovely service from the waitress(es).

The team are always pleasant and the food is always tasty.

Terrible service from Just Eat, our delivery driver didn’t turn up and we couldn’t cancel or do anything to our order for over an hour. Luckily Pizza Express went above and beyond and managed to assign us a new driver and cooked our meals for us fresh. Still waiting on a response from my complaint.

Pizza express is our go to restaurant for my daughter who has coeliac disease. The staff always look after us, the food is always incredible and the Brighton hill restaurant has such a lovely atmosphere. Definitely recommend

I haven't been here for a while, no particular reason other than probably pizza isn't our favourite. From the moment we walked in we were made to feel very welcome. The meal was really nice, including the coffees. They offer a good kids menu at a very reasonable price, for what they got, as well. We booked to be on the safe side. I'd go again

This is the best branch of Pizza Express. We have eaten at others, but it just seems to always be the best here. The pizzas are always great, but today, it was amazing. The staff are always friendly. Also the coffee here is always perfect, again other branches just can't do a simple cappuccino however this branch always makes a perfect one, it's not always the same person serving us so it obviously how this branch is taught. They seem to keep the same staff aswell which is always a good sign that they are managed well and enjoy working here. It can be busy so good to book, the only issue can be parking as a very small parking lot, however there is more parking further down the road.

The pizzes were very small and cold. Not worth the price..There was no "fresh corriander" on the pizza i ordered and they were about 40mins late.

Massive well done to Franky and her Team who provided great hospitality tonight under challenging circumstances. Thank you so much for the Great Food and friendly service.

Ordered for delivery at 5:10. Finally arrived at 7:02pm. Stone cold and congealed. Garlic butter clumped together and inedible. Absolutely disgusted by the lack of customer service. Will never use Just Eat again.

This Pizza Express is situated in an old building with lots of internal characters and features. Welcoming staff with note going to the Italian waiter who was just lovely. Food was excellent.

Food was stone cold !! Veg wasn’t cooked properly

Went here yesterday for a nice meal out, it was very empty when we arrived so we were greeted and seated quickly. I noticed my knife was a little dirty so swapped it for another knife on the table. Service was fine, speedy, they were missing some food items which was a shame. Doughballs were lovely and hot, and the American pizza with pepperoni and ham was lovely, however I started to feel quite full and uncomfortable midway through the pizza so had to stop eating and get it in a to go box, which was fine. Left the restaurant still not feeling 100% but chalked it up to trapped wind. Roll on 4am, and I'm in the trenches, vomiting, diarrhoea, chills, the works. Still have nausea, chills and diarrhoea now, writing this review. Unfortunately I won't be returning, completely put off. Will still have pizza express, just not at this restaurant. Not worth the risk and I feel awful. Also it was quite uncomfortable to hear the manager discussing incorrect orders and how to store things etc super loudly while we were eating. Such a shame as have been here in the past and it was lovely. The 2 star rating is primarily with regards to the suspected food poisoning post visit.

Pizza arrived 1hour and 45 minutes late , and was cold.

I ordered it at 6:13 and it arrived at 8:43. There’s no point saying you pick up from a certain restaurant if you won’t do it within an hour (which is still a long time).

The restaurant was good and excellent service. Toilets are disgusting and look rarely cleaned.

Great pizza express restaurant. Service is very good and food as expected from Pizza Express. Well presented and tastes great. Kids menu is great and I really recommend downloading the App which allows you to split bills, use freebies and pay without waiting. The only downside here at the moment is all the roadworks going on and the lack of parking. I prefer to park down the road at the football ground buts its not the best and poorly lit. But worth the effort to come here, evrryone enjoyed their food. Especially the kids. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I got an order of dough balls and the description implied that the garlic butter was included (there was an option to add extra dip for a cost, key word being extra) but apparently not as I just got an order of dry dough balls. They're okay as far as bread goes but would have been better with some actual garlic butter 😞

I don't get pizza that often but the one thing I love about PE is it tastes exactly as at the restaurant. Calzone n'duja is to die for. Order it you need to eat this at least once.

Friendly staff, clean restaurant. Pizzas hot with plenty of tasty toppings. Just what I would expect from Pizza Express, would recommend.

Quite a nice selection of food, pricey for pizza but probably not the most expensive. We were very pleased to be able to get a table for 12 at short notice.

Food arrived 50 minutes late, stone cool. Driver seemed to have walked here! Very very disappointed, use Just Eat regularly but this was terrible. Don’t mind a wait for food if the communication tells you in advance. Don’t tell me 25 minutes for delivery and take 1 hour!

Pizza Express is my favourite pizza restaurant and I've been a customer for maybe 50 years. You know what you will get and it is good food. I've been to this one many times and the service is always good.

Being GF - Pizza Express provides a lovely treat in the fact that there are multiple choices to select from over the courses - the pollo pasta is divine!!!

Tasty pizza but toppings were sparse. Paid for extra olives, only got 8 @ 50p an olive! 7 bits of chili pepper on the American hot… might as well have just got an American.

Delivery via Uber Eats order 543 60 544. Collected at 20.13 delivered cold and not edible at 8.45 a distance of just over 2 miles. Was the driver taking a bus perhaps?

The restaurant is very dated and in serious need for a refurb, nonetheless this does not excuse the lack of cleanliness. However the service is good and the staff pleasant, the pizzas were tasty and with the deals on offer good value.

Food was delivered on time and hot. Taste really nice but I was very disappointed with the size of serving. Only half filled the container it came in (you could see the bottom). I ordered bread too, otherwise it wouldn't have been even a meal. I won't be ordering on line again. Such a shame.
