Expensive for what you get £17 for lasagna just a dish of the stuff which wasn't great no salad nothing else included with the meal unless you want to pay nearly £5 for it,did have garlic bread which was £7 😡
Called in for another of our regular visits and found the usual very nice coffees served by the friendly cheerful staff. Only surprise was that another price rise had been slapped on, another 15p! Well on the way to being the first £4 cup of coffee in the town. Come on Finch House, the place is obviously a goldmine so why the need to fleece regular clientele with these frequent price rises.
I see someone moaning about the food coming at different times. Our server warned us about this at the beginning it is made at different chef stations and comes at different times. This in my experience is common in Asian countries. Generally the food is...

Right, so.
The food is excellent, loves it to bits and it wasn't very expensive either
But
We waited almost an hour for it and almost missed our film, then we tried to go back two separate times when they said online they were open and they were actually closed. Wasted trip, long waits, although. Good chicken
Situation was good for walking and also the train. The pitches were nice and flat and the staff friendly and helpful. The pub is a proper pub and the food menu was very good. The pub service was quick and friendly. I had a beef stew which was superb.
We loved our steak dinners and desserts, delicious, great value and top quality as cooked by a former restaurant chef. The service at the Stonemasons is exceptional. Beautiful historic interior and garden.
I got there just before 11pm and was served by a lovely friendly man. I had small chips and battered sausage , both served hot and delicious. The price was very reasonable with portion sizes so good I couldn't eat all the chips and they were the best chips I had ever had from a takeaway!! Highly recommend.
Went for an Easter meal with family.
Although the vegetation carvery option (nut roast) wasn’t available, I had the veg and potatoes from the carvery stand and it was great. Lovely selection and cooked to perfection.
Ordered a Prosecco and changed my mind. The staff kindly swapped it without a fuss, so that was great service.
It’s a shame the paper tablecloths don’t fit the tables, but that’s a small thing in an otherwise good place to have a roast.
A gorgeous gem of a place! Stayed here for one night and ate at the restaurant in the evening.
Our room was cosy, warm, clean and we had a great nights sleep. We also had a lovely breakfast in the morning.
All four of us throughly enjoyed our evening meal in the restaurant, especially the pork belly.
The staff are so friendly and nothing was too much.
I can’t wait to return to this charming place in the future.
Nothing really wrong with the service but I had the most disappointing fish and chip supper I’ve had in my life from this place this week. They used to do you a big box of crispy chips for £3, they were beautiful. Now every time I go here the chips are soggy and disappointing, might as well eat boiled potatoes instead. Fish was also completely bland. Standards need to improve like they were before.
Very dissatisfied
Just about 5 stars. We were a group of 13. Soup and mushroom starters excellent. Lasagne. fish pie and fish and chips excellent Chili con carne reportedly ok. Puddings very good,Service friendly and efficient,
Comfortable place. Very good value.Wheelchair accessiible but WC just about ok for disabled customers.
This was our second visit here for lunch after a really good experience in January.
The inn has two eating areas and the one by the bar is the cosier of the two. The service is very good, with genuine smiles and a wish that you enjoy your meal. The food quality is good too overall.
On our first visit we had the Korean prawns which were really good but sadly no longer on the menu.
We opted this time for the burger and the Frito Misto. The burger was really well done and came with a delicate coleslaw and small salad. The Misto was a selection of panko prawns, squid, scampi and cod goujons; both had a portion of what I call ‘filler chips’ but you often get that at lunch.
The menu does lack a variety of sides; its basically chips done different ways.
The wine list is decent though and well priced.
We realised afterwards we got caught out on the coffee. We asked for double expresso’s and received simply a doubled up single expresso. At £6 a cup that’s twice what you’d pay in London.
Would we come back? Sadly no there are better in nearby Ickham and Wingham but plenty do looking at the reserved tables.
