Had first day beating yesterday with a new shoot and the pub provided us beautiful bacon and egg rolls for breakfast and then a lovely sit down lunch at the end. All of the food looked lovely and my chicken was delicious. Great selection of drinks and very reasonably priced too. Lovely and warm, lovely friendly staff and just a really cosy welcoming place all round.

Visited with quite a large family. Had to clear table ourselves. Sunday lunch - was average, dry potatoes. Had to source own cutlery box, no condiments offered ie mustard etc Nobody came to check food was ok. Table never cleared even an hour after we had finished. Our bill was over £200 with drinks and we don't think we had the service that should have been expected. We would not return.

Very good food, substantial portions and reasonably priced. Having ordered from the Seniors menu, the dish was far from small. Very palatable glass of Chardonnay. A very engaging and in tune waitress who conversed and waited on us expertly.

Three had lasagna which was warm rather than hot and cooled quickly. Disappointing at £17.50. One had fish n chips. Fish was good but chips were very boring with no taste. Overall not very good value for money.

We had a super Christmas lunch at the Clifden Arms. Lovely ambiance, nice restaurant and really good food. We opted for the two course menu and the main course portions were generous. No need for a pudding. The staff were friendly and attentive.

Absolutely dreadful from beginning to end. Six of us including two children, were pressed together around a table between two other tables. A horrible fabric on the table. The first course of food, mushrooms cold; the main course, a plate overloaded with dreadful large Yorkshire pudding with a very fatty piece of pork. We didn't stay for dessert couldn't bear what might be presented. Human hair found in a drink. Sorry but need to be honest.

Lovely setting, really good service by friendly staff. I belive in wriitng honest reviews. We ate Sunday lunch here and average main courses were served. Some of us had roast lamb, one slice only with many vegatables and the people in our group all said the lamb had a lot of fat. The roast Beef was ok , but agin the portion sizes not good. Otherwise an OK Sunday lunch.

This picturesque place must be exactly how the typical English country pub is commonly perceived, with its thatched roof, oak beams and a cosy atmosphere at the bar - and with a separate public bar, mainly for locals who come here just for a drink. Actually the word 'typical' does very much relate to people's perception as, in truth, there aren't many pubs as pretty as this. They have a decent selection of ales, predominantly from the local Rebellion Brewery. The main menu is fairly standard pub food, but they also have a varying specials menu which is not huge but offers a more interesting selection of dishes. Prices aren't cheap, but reflect the quality of the food. There is a very good beer garden which incorporates a children's play area.

Booked a table last minute on a Friday evening - website looked good and the menu sounded great. Food was average at best - don’t advertise a gourmet burger in a brioche bun then serve a slight upgrade on a McDonalds in a cheap white, sesame seed bun!! Everything was just meh, including the presentation. Kids menu was really poor, pasta was literally penne with tinned tomatoes stirred in (and it cost £6.50). Service was okay, they were all just young and very inexperienced, no one seemed to be overseeing things. Definitely would not go back here - I can think of far better places for spend £100 on a meal for 3 adults and a 6 year old.

We had a delicious meal with visiting friends at The Clifden on Monday lunch time. We had not been before. They have started Meat-Free Mondays alongside other promotions. We were the only people there, which was a real shame as the menu was amazing and the ambience comfortable. We chatted to the chef who was full of plans which sound very enticing. Meat-free Monday is about offering tasty vegetarian/vegan dishes not normally on the menu - there are still meat dishes too. We really recommend this pub. Great food, pleasant outdoor area, children's play area and good parking. (Beware the bump when entering the car park!)

I ate here with three guests. Front of house is staffed by charming young people, but of little experience. We ordered a shared plate of cold cuts of seafood to start with; this normally would take 3 minutes to compose, as no cooking is involved. 45 minutes later it had not arrived; we were told in 5 more minutes, but well, you get the idea. Same thing for the main course. They managed to serve the desert (affugato – a ball of ice cream and an expresso} in 20 minutes. All in all, 2 hours to serve three courses. Front of house were very apologetic and offered to waive the service charge which I declined as the problem had nothing to do with them. Management skulked in the kitchen, never showed their face, made no apology. Lovely cadre, decent food, but I would never eat there again as I found the management to be unacceptable.

Unfortunately we did not have a good experience here for what we hoped would be a lovely bank holiday lunch in the sunshine. We arrived at 12:30pm and the pub was quiet and we order a starter and main for the 3 of us. The starter took an hour to arrive. After another 40 minutes we were still waiting for our main courses and we had to chase these up. Eventually, my husband and son got their main courses but my husband did not quite get what he ordered (he asked for a plain burger with no mayo etc and he got everything on it!). There was no cutlery given so they just used their hands. I had not received my main course so again, I had to chase this up and was told it was being made again (no explanations to why). I continued to wait by which time my husband and son had finished their mains. I was still waiting. On chasing this up again, we decided to no longer stay here. Our experience was highlighted to a member of staff who did not charge us for this debacle but I have left with no lunch, poor service and we will not be returning again, As a family, we enjoy eating out at all our local pubs and restaurants on a regular basis but we will not be using the Clifden Arms.

We visited Waterperry gardens and were looking for a pub nearby for lunch - it was my husband's birthday and wanted to celebrate with a nice lunch. And we certainly picked the right place. The service was excellent - warm, friendly and attentive without being intrusive and the food was equally good. A lovely marquee with bar and inviting atmosphere - they clearly have made a real effort to make it feel a very comfortable place to enjoy your food - protected us from the rain and the curried carrot soup and warm ciabatta was a delicious starter. We both had burgers - mine was the chicken and my husband's was the beef and they were both delicious - no extra table seasoning required - even the thick cut, crunchy chips came perfectly seasoned. We couldn't fault it from start to finish - they were really on the ball with the covid requirements too and the tables were well spaced out - felt completely safe. Will definitely be back and look forward to our next visit.

Our accommodation review can be found on the venues appropriate page but we did book an evening meal with the stay.Good Covid guidelines with one way system, sanitisers, masks, table service etc. Firstly, the staff were immense, great service throughout, one of the best service and attention received without being over the top and annoying. The food was really nice, fresh, arrived warm and looked nice - the wife only comment was that the prawns in the Thai butter came whole and trying to use a knife and fork to remove the heads and shell was difficult and she thought would be better if the prawns were already shelled etc. I tried that dish and tasted lovely. The puddings were also lovely. Would recommend this restaurant as has a lovely atmosphere and ambiance and imagine a lovely setting in the summer garden.

I am a vegan with a nut allergy, when visiting the pub there weren’t any vegan options on the menu but after speaking with the staff they were more than happy to cook something else for me! I had a vegetable & chickpea gnocchi- it was amazing! The service also was 10/10, will absolutely visit again.

We arrived later than expected and greeted with a smile and that we had been upgraded, so we could be in a room next to my mother in law’s room which we had asked to be in the ground floor, with little walking, due to her mobility!Breakfast was vast and they gave us a choice of, what seemed like, everything from Salmon to full fry up, delicious.Thank you

Peter and I want to say a massive thank you to Jud and her team for an amazing wedding at The Cliften Arms, nothing was to much trouble no matter what our request. The venue was fantastic the food was exceptional and everyone worked so hard.. All that came to the wedding told me that they had the best time. If anyone is looking for a venue I would very much recommend The Cliften Arms. We stayed the night and again it was lovely, bed comfortable, room clean décor great. What more could you ask for? A perfect day!!Thank you once again xxChristina Robinson

Having been let down at the last minute by another local hostelry, Booking.com suggested this pub and they were spot on! The young lady who checked us in was polite and efficient and took us over to our room in the accommodation block. And what a room, brilliant bathroom and a very comfortable bed.Going over to the bar, the bar manager was a true pub professional, knew how to pour a good pint and very helpful. We ate in the restaurant and, again, service was very good as was the food, excellent squid and baby octopus salad to start and one fish pie, full of fresh fish and and a perfect Belted Galloway steak. Breakfast was equally good. We will make a point of returning to this excellent establishment,

Went with a friend for dinner last night. Found the restaurant surprisingly empty (the weather was awful so probably only hardy souls turning out.) From the moment we walked in we were given a warm welcome and really looked after. The young man serving us (why didn't I get his name?) clearly knew his job and carried it out fuss free. When my friend asked for a glass of wine he listed from memory the wines available and then gave a recommendation when asked. As well as working behind the bar he was our waiter for the evening. I feel the need to make a big point about the great service as this isn't always evident in other establishments and really helped make our evening - along with the great food of course. A typical country pub offering just a little bit more.

Chose this establishment as a half way place to meet up with relatives - had passed it many times on the way to Waterperry and the excellent Garden Centre and Farm Shop. Had been closed for a number of years and very pleased to see it had re-opened. Beautifully refurbished still retaining bags of character. Busy place at 1pm on a Sunday - good menu and super idea of "smaller" portions priced for children and seniors. The beef in particular was excellent as was the Spicy Crab starter.

Two evening meals were experienced at The Clifden Arms, where we have recently stayed at its B & B facility. We were quite surprised by some of the food pairings, for example parpadelle pasta to go with beef shin and beef jus, which didn't seem to go together. The chosen meals from the menu were somewhat disappointing - great presentation but, for example, the vegetable tagine did not quite live up to expectation and left me with a rather leaden feeling in my tummy throughout the rest of the evening and overnight. The "whet the appetite" bread with dipping oil was, surprisingly, unpresented with a mix of olive oil and balsamic, as might be expected, and when this was queried, were told that they didn't have any balsamic. We also had to ask for side plates in order to share this platter, so as not to make a mess across the table. The raspberry and white chocolate cheesecake came with a heavy, overthick biscuit base which was quite unpleasant, and my husband's ginger cake lacked ginger flavour and came with a paltry serving of custard, having been informed that the kitchen did not have any vanilla icecream. Small details - but they can make all the difference. However, we could not fault the very friendly lady who initially served us on our first evening, who made us very welcome, and the actual pub building itself is quirky and interesting.

Visited the pub this evening for a meal. It had a lovely, friendly atmosphere and the service both at the bar and restaurant was excellent. The food for both veggies and meat eaters was good. We will definitely be visiting again.

Ordered from the simpler 'small plates' menu & the order was initially mis-keyed at bar or forgotten by the kitchen. These things do happen but only 1 young person at the bar & a child who looked about 14 serving food. No manager around & I felt sorry for the young people who were put in this impossible situation.

The food was excellent. We chose from todays special fish courses, and it was delicious. The atmosphere was great and the patrons a mixture of locals and visitors from afar. Our room was newly renovated, and very nice.

We took some old friends for dinner. There was a small range of good draught beers and a good menu - not too long but what I would call traditional pub grub. I had ham, eggs and excellent chips. Others had fish and chips and steak. All were well-presented and very tasty. Having recently been bought from a brewery and now in private hands, this pub is fulfilling the role of a good local.

Always a good shout, especially on a Sunday lunch as it's quiet! Service was impeccable, food was great. Veg spring rolls very tasty. They opened a section so I could have a seat with a back and created a dish that my Crohn's was OK with.

The best takeaway in town by far! Every dish is packed with flavour and fresh. Very reasonably priced too. Tasty, clean and filling all for a sensible and affordable price!

If you are Thai lover don’t eat here and don’t Order food. One of the worst restaurant in Aylesbury. They don’t even respond.
