Lively pub, packed on Saturday night but not bad at all

Standard little pub great to pop in for a pint

I've never eaten here, so I can't rate the food. I love this place.... most of the time. Friday's and Saturday nights we have Big Jon's Karaoke, which is always popular. The kind of night with Karaoke depends on who's on had to run the karaoke. Jon himself is always the best. There is one that can be rude and unprofessional, but I'll say no more. The biggest problem is that the venue is so small. It is tiny compared to Ye Arrow, which is attached to this place. Because karaoke nights are so popular, it can get packed, which makes it a bit of a nightmare to move around or get to the bar to be served. My most frustrating issue is the drunk people who keep bumping their bums into the table you're at and getting in the way of those who are trying to sing.

This pubs website advertises “historic charm” which I know doesn’t extend to one bar staff in particular!! Awful service. I was there this Saturday late afternoon/early evening with friends in which we chose to drink the craft ale they had on draught. Within our first couple of sips we all knew that it didn’t taste right so I took the pints back to the bar and apologised to the lady behind the bar that unfortunately the beer didn’t taste right to which I received a very sarcastic response of “well maybe that’s how it tastes”? As I tried to politely explain that we are experienced drinkers and one of us has had this particular beer before so knows how it tastes I was rudely interrupted and abruptly asked “well what do you want”?!! I ordered different pints to which again extremely sarcastically I was asked “will these taste ok for you”?? The pints were poured and heavily placed on the bar without one word of apology to myself or anything!! Beyond rude….so won’t be going there ever again 😏😠

Good location, good value, friendly staff and decent TV screens for sport and music.

Can't rate for food as never eaten there, nor seen any available. Staff are nice and it's a nice venue. It can get very crowded at weekends due to the very popular karaoke nights run by the awesome Big Jon.

They re-cook their wings! They informed us that wings cooked yesterday and was good then! Wasn't too our usual freshness. Reminded me of when I reheat porkbelly and fats went rancid.

This pub shares its toilets with two others. The King’s Head and Ye Arrow. I’ve never really worked out if these are three pubs with an arrangement or one pub with three names… I mean, either way it doesn’t really matter. All three are decent and it has the benefit of expansive toilets. Just odd. Pub itself is small, but convenient for the cathedral. Three televisions inside and a single gaming machine. The machine was old though and broken. Boo… The beer was decent, I think it was Moretti but I’d really have to check. Of the three; I think I like this one or the King’s Head best. Ye Arrow has more of an old people vibe and also an awful gaming machine.

It an unique pub it got character offer different experience interms of atmosphere then some of the other traditional pubs in the medway area which is a good thing ,drinks where a tad bit pricey however given the current climate that justified, drink poured perfect in clean glasses and the pub look very clean and welcoming.

Had an amazing day/night. Staff were fantastic, really friendly.

Staff are very nice and make your time there pleasure. Not a place if you don't like TVs. But it is dog friendly

I had the hungry archer and it was possibly the best ribs and chicken I have ever had. The staff were super friendly and were super attentive. Would highly recommend.

We always have a good meal there, it's our go to place lunchtime if we are in Rochester.

I have never in my life walked out of a bar wanting to kill myself. The only jolly creature In this place is the flys. I'm gutted I've got to walk past this place on the way back to my hotell.

Barmaid was lovely made me feel welcome however the man made me feel like an outcast like I shouldn’t of been there, tried interacting with him but he quickly dismissed it very rude, I will not being visiting again if he’s there, apart from that very nice.

Decent town centre pub. Modern feel and surprisingly big. Has booths which give it an American diner feel.

Best place for karaoke, bar staff always really nice as well

A nice pub in Rochester High Street. They had massive screens to watch the football on. It was busier than normal as the Xmas Dickens Festival was on, but we were lucky enough to get a seat and enjoy a couple of pints.

Great bar far bigger than the front make it seem

We went here Friday as a family, the bouncer was so rude and because we was all having a laugh he kicked us out. Bar staff are rude as well

Had intended to go to Wetherspoons until I discovered that it was in Chatham. Had Hunters Chicken and a sundae.With a drink £15.95 They have these flat screen TVs which are rather loud,so I took my hearing aids out.Tomatoe sauce comes in sachets which you have to tear open with your teeth.Service could be slow but was cheerful.So not too bad an experience.

Karaoke was fun, bar staff friendly and security guy in the hat the same. Thanks, I had a great night taking my elderly Dad out, doing what he loves best 🎤

Good service and a delicious lunch. Ilona was exceptional with the help that she gave my wheel-chaired friend. The food served by Julie in the carvery was excellent and the friendliness was super!

Karaoke night. Shame friends came first singing as waited over 1 1/2 hours to sing .

So much fun and disappearing through the karaoke bar to the toilets you enter Narnia... Aka another bar with live music and the garden area. A Friday/Saturday night out in Rochester is not complete without a visit to this pub!

AVOID. AVOID. AVOID. Terrible place with an un-friendly management. Look elsewhere unless grotty floors and tables are your thing.

Yeah quite good, limited space though for busy nights, the staff is quite friendly though and a relatively good place to do some karaoke and have a dance!

Nice pub although a bit on the small side, karaoke is good tho, which is held every Friday and Thursday.

Doesn't deserve any stars ,choice of only two beers both lager .ordered fosters which wss undrinkable and had a very strange smell.music was very loud and staff were not wearing masks .

Good little pub, had a Sunday carvery from Ye Arrow connected to the back. Never disappoints.

Great position opposite the castle. Huge space inside and plenty of outside tables. Food was a bit limited and nothing special for the price it was on a par with weather spoon but dearer and smaller portions

A nice enough pint but tables/bar sticky. Too many TV's for my liking but only there for the one so OK. Currently looking for kitchen and bar staff, so not sure if food was an option at present.

Came here after dinner on a Wednesday. They had the netball game on two of the TVs. It was quiet which was good as we wanted to hear our conversation. The coasters were sticking to the table and I didn't want to put my elbow on it. They share a bathroom with 2 other pubs. So people were coming in/out the shared passageway. I checked out the other pubs and one of them has an outdoor patio with a view of the castle which was packed.

Lovely pub, smaller and quieter than the others but nice atmosphere. Couple of televisions with good views from all areas of the pub so good for watching sports

If you want to hear a cult of wannabe singers who only allow their friends to sing the entire night then sure, go ahead! They have even invested in professional ear pieces...

Best Carvery in Town, Meat cooked not killed for a second time, good selection of Veg and not dried out or wilted. Advise people to book tho does get busy but thats what you should expect from a place that serves a quality Sunday Roast. Staff very friendly and helpful also.

Best pub around, good food, friendly staff.

Although they forgot my nut roast and i had to wait for ages they were very apologetic and it was so worth the wait !! so delicious !! Will be coming again.

Expensive and strange atmosphere

Great friendlyservice, no waiting like Wetherspoons!, Great drinks and freshly cooked food. Proper big portions! All types welcome, Singles, Mates, Couples, Families & Groups.

The food was absolutely terrible. Stone cold potatoes and vegetables. The person serving the carvery was handling the food with bare hands whilst doing so explaining she had washed her hands. She was literally turning the potatoes over to try and get the hot ones to the top of the pile. It was absolutely appalling, such a shame as we have had the carvery in the past and it was very nice. I guess there are some training issues that need to be addressed

We came here 2 weeks ago just myself, my daughter and my son, we had a carvery which was the best ever, so we booked there and then for today with my parents and parents in law and once again the food was amazing the cauliflower cheese was really tasty, lovely veg, meat not dried up like some places, plenty to choose from, lovely staff and great service. Can’t wait to come again. I highly recommend 😋

Just had this chilli with nachos & onion rings, I have to I absolutely enjoyed this meal. The inside of this establishment has a main bar which is a cold feeling to it. But there is a second room which has a nice view of the castle.

Fantastic place here where i seem to frequent most weekends. Great atmosphere, good staff. If you love a bit of karaoke its here on fri and sat nights. Adjoining by toilets to another pub, with an extensive smoking area.

Great pub with a fantastic selection of beers and ales. Brilliant karaoke on Friday and Saturday Night and is always good fun where everyone gets a chance to sing songs old and new.

The pub is the same place as Ye Arrow. Really nice.

This used to be a great pub for a Friday night out. Decent beer, reasonable prices for Rochester and a wonderfully cheesy karaoke. Unfortunately for some reason the manager has allowed a little clique of wannabe pop stars to totally take over the karaoke. They hang around the karaoke like a gang of groupies and basically nobody else gets a chance. Sometimes they even do duets with no music as a pre rehearsed, self indulgent performance. Normal customers give up and leave which as I say is a real shame as it used the great fun and I do love a bit of 80’s cheese..

Visited with some friends for food and drinks Saturday afternoon. Incredibly impressed. Couldn't believe just quite how reasonably priced food and drink was. We sat outside in the beer garden making the most of the sun and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The ploughman salad was gorgeous and plentiful. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and welcoming. Will definitely return!

We had dinner here and it was excellent with meat pies and fine ales. I highly recommend this pub if you enjoy authenticity and find food and drink while in Rochester.
