What an untidy, cluttered pub this is. We popped in with the intention of having a drink and lunch.. my husband ordered an Abbots ale, it was cloudy and undrinkable. So he changed it for IPA which was much better. The tables were all cluttered with dirty plates, glasses and dishes from previous customers, tables were also dirty from previous customer's !!! Carpets were covered in remnants of food, there was just one table to eat at without dirty pots !!! I had intentions of eating here but after the looks of the place to say I was put off is an understatement. Will definitely not go back to this Witherspoons...

Been few times was alclean but went today on entrance all table not been cleared or cleaned food on floor wet tissue on ceiling very poor state food was ok

Got here and had my id, blonde lady in checkered shirt didn’t believe me and would not serve me and served my friends she also wouldn’t refund me for this drink. Treated me like I was 10 and told me I had to be out by nine, stayed for my food because I wouldn’t have got refunded for that either and it was awful very cold and rice was raw. Terrible service from this lady, others were okay but she really let this place down. Before this we even asked nicely if she could clean the table as was covered in dirty wet napkins and food but she never did nor did she have anyone else after saying yes. We expected as much but chanced coming here won’t make the same mistake again.

Gem of the swamp that is Chatham, usually a reliable pub fell apart tonight when it was swamped with school children and there was pure chaos trying to get a pint.

Terrible cold food. Female staff member with terrible attitude. Atmosphere of a wake.

Brought me a dirty fork there, when I went to ask to replace it I was given also dirty fork. When I came to the drawer were “clean” ware is stored and saw that every second fork there is dirty

It's a whetherspoons what more do you want the foods edible and the drinks are cheap

After ordering on the app waiting 25 minutes to get my order. The place was very quiet but staff hung around talking to each other there were tables piled high with dirty plates and glasses with staff just walking by. Ok if you want cheap drinks and are prepared to wait for service

As with pretty much all wetherspoon pubs you know what to expect, great value for money and never feel rushed to eat and go

saw a female employee with bright pink hair try to kick out an elderly gentleman for refusing to provide a vest for his service dog... woman got a major attitude when I informed her thats not the law and told me point blank her managers rules override the law.... disgusting behaviour

Been here before …. Was looking forward to coming back . Unfortunately after ordering on the App I sat for 30 minutes before querying where my order was … only to be told it hadn’t gone through ! I bought half a cider at the Bar and left ! Shame lovely pub …. Fabulous ladies toilets !

It's Cheap and you definitely get what you pay for.. Drinks are where I would give 5* stars to because it doesn't cost you a 💣 to get tipsy! I've had many great start of the nights to spending all night with friends and their definitely is some eye candy🍭 😅 My favourite place to drink is definitely in the garden booths because if your like me.. Because of All the entertainment from other punters 👀 but nothing that will spoil your night.. Just makes you invested in people's life stories.. 🙌 You meet so many people from all different walks of live and it's a very friendly place and the staff are sometimes grumpy but hey wouldn't you be, they are very understaffed at times and service can take a little longer than normal but like most places we all have our favourites! Also if you haven't taken a selfie while in the ladies long mirror and gone all the way up to the next "VIP" toilets.. Your missing out 😎🙌

Manager refused to deal with my issue after being presented with a side dish that was included on my main plate and so tiny it was like a the kitchen staff had been dared to do it. He wanted more money to rectify it and refused to give me his name when I asked for it, stating I could describe him on the complaints form instead. He was a child but had no self awareness and shouldn’t have been in a management position. Harry Potter specs, curly black hair and an attempt at a man’s stubble? I think? He was very forgettable? Kept saying, “My bad”. Jeez. Just get me a side of roasted veg that I paid for Harry and stop being so damn rude.

Could be a nice place. It was quite quiet when I visited, tables hadn't been cleared or wiped. Upholstered seating was disgustingly dirty.

Great little place to visit if your in the area. Food typically arrives in good time even when they have very busy moments. The service is always good here. Very friendly staff nothing is too much for these guys and that makes you feel very welcome there. Prices haven't increased by much in the years I've been going there very reasonable and portion sizes are good. Totally recommend.

Had lunch here for 2 poor, food served cold, over cooked small portion. In the 2 hours here no tables were cleared, new customers piled all the dirty plates on too other empty tables. No tables were cleaned in that 2 hours, customers had to do it them selves with cloth and liquid supplied. The staff here have a total disregard for basic cleaning, removal of germs dirt etc leaving it a breeding ground for infections. I dont no how it stays open i would not return.

The last time that I ordered Mediterranean salad I complained to them that it omitted some key ingredients - kale and cherry tomatoes - which are in the app description. I ordered it again and it still omitted them. As per last time, instead the only salad ingredient was lettuce. Clearly they ignore any feedback they get and arrogantly carry on swindling their customers. They really are a dreadful company. Next time, I’m tempted to order sausage and chips but I fear it’ll probably omit the sausage!

I often come here in the morning to get an unlimited hot drink and breakfast muffin for less than £5. I sit read a book or go on my computer. And hide in a cubby hole seating area

How the tide has turned tables littered plates with food which was cold drinks arrived when we had almost finished must try harder

Cheap prices, I gave it 4 stars only because whenever I buy a cup of tea from here it tastes funny, there's something wrong with the water.

Went in the one evening and a lot of the beer at the pumps had run out, also went in the following morning for a large full English breakfast, the food was fine but its temperature was only warm certainly not hot enough for a fatty dish, no check was done.

Standard arengement. I guess recently refitted as looks new and tidy. Used twice mid week. Not overcrowded and a mix of ages.

This classic Edwardian building first opened its doors in 1902 as Chatham's new main post office. It was built for the General Post Office (GPO) by its Works Department under the direction of William Oldrieve. It is now named after Chatham-born naval officer and merchant seaman Thomas Waghorn, who was also a postal pioneer. Waghorn developed a new postal route for Great Britain to India. This new 6,000-mile land route replaced the 16,000-mile sea voyage, reducing the time taken from about three months to 35-40 days. These premises were refurbished by JD Witherspoon and opened in July 2016.

The best service I've had for years

There was a shortage of tables, none of which were clean. Order on the app wasn't working so there was a half hour queue to get served. Even when the food did come it was poorer than most wetherspoons.

Nice atmosphere. Lots of seating.

Waited 30 mins for a cup of tea, 2 biscuits, pineapple juice and sparkling water ordered on the app. Still had to go to the till to pick it up. All tables covered in plates and glasses and not cleaned.

Went here after a day out at diggerland! It’s what you expect from a Wetherspoons great value for money. Clean facilities and service was pretty good 10/10

Standard spoons, slow table service

Always a lot quieter than the Golden Lion in Rochester. Which makes it confusing that the service for using the app is so much slower. Generally quiet. Lacking a bit in atmosphere.

It's ok. I can't really make much of a comment ... it was just a little pitstop for a quick lunch... I had ham egg and chips , I did not enjoy it at all . Yuck! The Cheap processed Ham was horrible and the cheap frozen chunky chips were disgusting. I definitely wouldn't recommend it.. my sister had an all day breakfast and thoroughly enjoyed it .

The tables need to be cleaned a lot more often. Sometimes it's difficult to find a clean table because of this.

Excellent centrally located pub. Being Wetherspoons it does what it says on the tin. Reasonably priced food and drink in nice surroundings.

They have no guiness tables and bar full of dirty glasses and plates not clean coffee cups no milk for coffees food left around the place food left for ages to be given

Waited 10 minutes for 2 glasses of coke ended up going to the bar myself trays with drinks ready to go staff all talking and laughing 15 minute wait for food that arrived cold when the place was empty waited another 10 minutes for another coke ended up walking out as they put it on our table

Other then not enough bar staff when it's busy, it's a weatherspoons so what do you expect.

Very good eggs benedict, with runny yolk. Good seating and warm on a cold day. The only downside it is in Chatham.

Always busy, tables need to be wiped between customers but atmosphere and drink excellent. Good Sauvignon Blanc and cider.

It came a long way since I last been in this pub it made a lot of progress their just little improvements that need to be made ,it only small improvements like making sure the toilet floor is cleaned often and the floor given a sweap apart from that it is an average weatherspoons in a declining area of high Street of medway ,but it doing well will visit aging and write my next review hope to give 5 stars 🌟 next time round . Pint was poured perfectly and was good value for money like all weatherspoons are in the medway area .

Usual Spoons fare, inexpensive and good value. This location is large and well run, and can be a bit boisterous apparently later on at weekends!

Ordered jacket potatoe when it arrived it was stone cold with bits of ice in middle manage took away and said he would have to cook another when that arrived it was just as cold with ice in the middle got a refund thinking if they cant cook a simple jacket potatoe I do not want to chance anything else.Had to clear the table ourselves before our food arrived

Adequate food, drink and service but what do you expect at these prices?

Burgers took a long time and were over done/dry I think this might have been due to the plans being too busy

I visited here with a friend at lunchtime, the food arrived in good time. The service was exceptional - The waiter 'Dean was very polite and attentive, asked if we were happy with everything and couldn't have been more helpful, he is a credit to wetherspoons! I would highly recommend it here!

You know what to expect at a Wetherspoon pub. Easy parking in nearby car parks. Good for a cheap meal and pint. I had a curry.

Great value for money, less than £7 for a large breakfast. The hot drinks are unlimited which is really good value for money, lots of choices at the drinks machine. Food arrived quick. Nice & spacious inside. Will definitely return. Taking one star back as our finished plates were left for a while, we had to ask someone to clear the table.

Really had a very good impromptu brunch. Place enormous, well patronised. Food excellent, staff friendly. Will go back again.

Really good pub meals. We had pizza which was surprisingly tasty with the additional toppings. Burgers were also nice and came with plenty of nicely cooked chips. Good selection of heinz sauces, not to mention the huge variety of non alcoholic beers and soft drinks. Was initially concerned that a pub venue in Chatham may not be place to take the kids out for a late lunch, but couldn't have been better. We opted for the bright first floor, but downstairs was also clean, and safe for kids. Our original server seemed a bit tired/bored but the rest were great. The total cost was very reasonable.

We went to this place early afternoon when it wasn't particularly busy. We ordered two burgers which came in 1 minute (!) and had nothing in it except a piece of meat, no salad, gurken, tomato etc. I remember old times when a burger was full of salad and very tasty. But getting a bun with a slice of meat is ridiculous, definitely not a burger. I understand there is inflation but I am willing to pay more and rather get the same quality. Removing ingredients is not the best solution. The building is nice, beer service was ok but very slow, even though it wasn't rush hour. Although food came too quickly, which was already a bad sign.

Go here and spend money, it's worth it, also for whomever needs to hear this, you're amazing and I'm happy that you exist 😁

Unfortunately, regularly visiting the same witherspoons pub. You do eventually find the service to go downhill. Slow order incomplete orders or waiting 26 mins for a drink

Popped into the branch for lunch with my two children. Went upstairs and struggled to find a table (not because it was busy, but due to most tables littered with empty plates and glasses). With a table found with minimal clutter, I ordered food and drinks on their app. After 20 minutes the food arrived. No drinks had arrived at this point so i spoke to the staff member who stated "they are coming up now". Five minutes later, the children are complaining about the lack of drinks. MY son then attends the bar to be told "They are being poured now". Another five or so minutes later, I finish my meal. I then attend the bar and inquire on the drinks to be told "they are on their way up and will be on the table when you get there". I point out at the time that the service is poor. I then go back to the table and see that the drinks have not reached the table, however i can see a tray on drinks on the far side of the room which may contain our drinks and others for other customers. These drinks remain at that point for a further five to ten minutes. I observe the one member of staff who is clearly struggling. At this point the drinks remain where they are and he is now taking food to tables. As my children had also finished their drinks, i decided it was time to leave. i noted that none of the other tables had yet been cleared. I spoke with 'Holly' at the bar at which is displayed my displeasure on the service. I was told I would get a refund. Upon walking back to the car my son informed me that he had left the bag which his new boots were in underneath the table. Once back with me he mentioned that the drinks were still on the tray where we had last seen them, at which time would have been around 45 minutes!!! To make matters worse, the refund totaled £7.02 which was considerably low. A complaint was made to JD Wetherspoons who have only sympathised with words and stated it was a 25% reduction in the bill for the loss of the drinks. They clearly lack understanding of a poor customer experience and how to deal with it, so apparently the complaint is now dealt with.

Beer is cheap, plenty of seating upstairs and outside. Food appears to be microwaved at times but edible, nice place to start an evening.

My mixed grill was terrible. Couldn't eat the meat at all was fatty and like hard rubber... But apart from that seems a nice place.

I had a steak with soft drink and I choose the raspberry lemonade that when I normally drink is lemonade with some raspberry flavour, but this one was just sparkling raspberry, I kindly asked to change my drink as I didn’t like it and Natalie replied me in a rude way saying that I could buy another drink if I didn’t like it! She could have said that the policy wouldn’t give this possibility and that she was sorry instead of being that rude! I’m waitress supervisor myself and I would never be that rude even if I was on my worse day. Then as because it was my ” lucky day” I asked a pink head girl, that turned out it was the manager, (nothing against the pink hair, but yeah against the manager with not even the bare minimum of common sense) If my steak could have been cooked a slightly longer as I asked for medium rare and not rare, she is like yes of course and SHE TOOK MY PAPER NAPKIN and says: “Can you pls pop on the steak from the plate on the salviette so I will let cook a little more”? I was shocked, I know we are not in Mayfair but come on a Manager working like this is ridiculous!

It was a very advarge evening tbf . It just need a few improvements such as maybe more staff in and swepping of the floor was needed the floor was a bit of a mess and tad slow at serving and delivering drinks apart from that the staff where well nice the toilets needed a tad of cleaning . But apart from that will definitely come back aging .

We enjoyed our meals, just the lettuce could of been fresher. Otherwise, a very nice experience

You get what you expect for a wetherspoons. Mediocre food, drinks arrived after the food and the cess pit of chathams clientelle

It's a JD Wetherspoon ... you get what you expect. The benefits of this one is that the evening vibe here is not packed out and over flowing (as you find in Rochester and Maidstone) but is actually calm. I like that makes it a great place to catch up with friends. Plus it's all at the witherspoon prices we all love and menu choices we can trust. There are a couple of bar staff here too that go the extra mile.
