We made a last min booking and managed to get an earlyish dinner. Highly recommend booking as it is very popular. Food was really good. Service could have been a bit more helpful. We had a young child with us, wouldn’t recommend it for families, it’s too cramped and their chairs are low and didn’t seem to have any high chairs. I’d definitely return but only if I had a babysitter.
Just popped in for a quick bite on our travels through the area Lovely people running this little tea room. I had a piece of delicious Coffee and Walnut cake served with cream and blueberries and a latte coffee served just as I asked for. Hubby had a cheese and ham toastie which he really enjoyed
Warkworth has a small nucleus of great places to eat, and we'd never tried Bertrams, so we went. It was a no brainer given the quality of other reviews.
The only downside was that we had to get in and out early so were nearly the first people in hence little "atmosphere" but that was our agenda not the restaurant, and we were there for the food...
... which was first class. Superb hake served with a beautiful herby crab pate and dauphinoise potatoes. The flavours were immense and everything was cooked to perfection. You notice the difference with real quality and top chef standards and this delivered for me. The lemon meringue dessert was the proverbial icing on the metaphorical cake.
Superb.

Clean, smart, tidy daytime cafe with almost all day food. Large portions, be careful you don't over order! Be careful also in that salt is used in cooking maybe a little too much but good taste.
Walked in as a customer was grumbled at about food maybe taking 40mins. Which at lunch time with great weather on the island it’s to be expected. But the way the staff grumbled it wasn’t friendly and made it like people coming in were a burden. So we avoided interacting with them and left.
But would love to come back as it looks great and dog friendly.

The food is up to standard. The prices are just a little tiny bit high. £27 quid for takeaway fish chips, large mushy peas, scampi and a fish cake, some sauces... It's good but It's Not the cheapest. It either needs to be the very best... And it's not far off it.... Or cheaper to be the best value. This is only my opinion. And I would definitely still eat there again, Just more often if it was a tiny bit cheaper.
Found this place by doing a web search for “best breakfast in Alnwick”.
Big car park..
Attentive professional staff.
Nice dining room (with a little shop)
Great coffee.
Quality breakfasts - one ‘full’ and one Foxy scone I think it was called. Good sausages!
Two slight observations. I’m never a fan of places taking what could have been a lovely moist piece of bacon and flattening it and essentially drying it out so it’s stiff as a board, but hey ho, it was bacon I suppose. Also (and this happens absolutely everywhere in my experience - which is a bit odd) when beans come in a separate ramekin (if that’s the right word) they’re never piping hot.
Overall it was a great visit.
Just like to say a big thank you very much

Visited Berrick on our holiday and walked past this place while we were looking for somewhere to eat. Absolutely sensational food, really yummy! Reasonable prices and quick service.
Had the pleasure of spending our 5th wedding anniversary here recently.
The whole experience from start to finish was exceptional. The grounds and hotel are beautiful, the staff were friendly and professional. We were lucky enough to upgrade our room to one with a hot tub on arrival. The room was well appointed and spotless.
We had our evening meal in The Tempus. The blackpudding scotch egg was delicious and thr fillet steak was cooked to perfection. We had a few of the signature cocktails to accompany the meal.
In the morning we had breakfast, it was a lovely selection and the poached eggs were fantastic.
This is a must stay if you are in the area. Well worth the three and a half hour drive to get there.
Thank you.
Absolutely love the pies from here but not sure if the opening hours listed are correct? Google and Facebook say the shop is open Sundays, 9am-2pm. I've travelled up to Amble, arrived at 11:45am and the shop appears to be locked. A couple others have appeared and left too. No note on the door to say otherwise, have tried to call too. Disappointed as the pies are excellent and I've travelled 30mins to get here. Will try again in the future.
