Small and intimate restaurant. Food was tasty, but I don't believe it was worth the price tag .

Delicious food. Great service. Lovely atmosphere. Felt full afterwards, without feeling too bloated. Highly recommended. We visit Berwick once or twice a year and will certainly come here again on our next visit.

Even though the restaurant decor is exceptional really great atmosphere the food really lets it down. Had the falfel for starters small flat and dry. I had to ask for sauces which in mind cost 4 pounds each for chilli and garlic which is shocking. Then having the wrap which was okay nothing special stuffed more with large pieces of peppers and mushroom then meat but was filling. My mate had the lamb which was in gravy which was quite small for him we asked for extra bread which again is extra another 4 quid. For the amount the we ate 65 quid with one drink this for me is quite excessive for what you get and I am from London. Otherwise the service is good and friendly.

We always love going to Mavi but this visit was exceptional. We were a large booking celebrating two birthdays and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating. They were happy for us to bring our own birthday cake and even set up the candles and presented it to us. As always the food was brilliant too. We had such a great time, thank you!

This is a lovely place, dine in or take out, we’ve done both. The prices are moderate and the taste is delicious. We do dine as a family with Coeliacs, gluten free, dairy free and they’ve been able to accommodate. It’s always been a consistently good meal at Mavi’s.

Had a take-out meal here and telephone ordering was quick and easy and the staff were helpful and friendly and the most of the food tasted really fresh and tasty. The only slight issue was that the salad appeared and tasted like bagged salad and was a bit bland and dry - a shame as a simple fresh salad would have added so much to the meal.

Beautiful food. Waiter rude This was our first time. The food was great, the male waiter not so much. No engagement, no interaction and no smiles. Some people came in and asked about a table (I imagine they booked) and he simply pointed at the clock to say they were too early. Wow. The young lady who mainly served us was lovely. We were finished our meal early and he was desperate to get us off the table. He might’ve had a bad night. Don’t take that out on customers. Completely unacceptable

We had a take away from here and can highly recommend. We ordered whilst waiting and the 30 minute wait was really worth it. Everything tasted so fresh. The portion sizes were great and it is priced very reasonably. Lot's of choice on the menu to suit all tastes.

We did not book but got the last table at 6ish,so would advise to book on busy nights. The lady who served us was so helpful and polite I can't fault her. We had a cold share starter then a lamb with dates and figs dish plus lamb with aubergine and cheese sauce. The flavour we're amazing and the meat was so tender 10 out of 10

We walked past and tried to get a table on a bit of a punt. Host was lovely and accommodated us a table of 4. Brilliant atmosphere, very attentive servers too. The food is outstanding with plenty of choice. We could t finish it all so took away on a wee container. Would highly recommend!

Lovely service and even better lamb- perfectly cooked lamb shank falling off the bone with thick gravy sauce and some veg. Turkish coffee was delicious with a side of turkish delight. Highly recommend.

Best Turkish takeaway I've ever had. Doesn't get much better than this.

Absolutely buzzing beautiful little Turkish place. Second visit here, and each time is a delight. Wonderful authentic Turkish dishes, each fresh, each unique. We reserved for a Friday night, and their earliest table was 8:45pm, and it was great to see how busy they were. Had the mixed grill starter for two, followed by the iskender adana, and lamb kulbasti. Dishes, despite them being absolutely packed, came out quick, hot and fresh. Service was prompt, and every table was well looked after, even though they must have had over 40 covers. Thoroughly recommended, but you’ve gotta book!

Simply perfect! Delicious food, beautifully served by helpful and smiling girls. So tolerant and understanding of my mother’s food intolerances. Could not fault this place at all and would heartedly recommend. Only wish it were local to me!

Fabulous authentic restaurant with friendly staff who accommodated us without a booking. Halloumi starter was plentiful, the mains of creamy chicken with rice, and lamb and chicken kebab with rice and also a bowl of fries were hot, superbly seasoned and tasty. Too full for a dessert! A great find, reasonably priced.

Best food and excellent service in Berwick

We came here on the off chance as the restaurant I'd booked was no longer a restaurant and hadn't told us! We were more than glad we chose Mavi. The welcome was friendly and light hearted while the menu gave us plenty of choice. We tried some Turkish Cabernet which was delicious (we were given the option of changing the bottle if we didn't like it) and just about managed our generous starters and mains. We'd definitely recommend this restaurant.

Amazing food. Polite and friendly staff. Good menu selection and the food was amazing. The seats are crammed together but when I went it was quiet so it was fine. 100% recommend

Where do I even start… let me just begin with it’s a beautiful situation being on bridge street, amazing scenery, brilliant staff and an even better atmosphere. The fish was merely succulent, the salad fresh, the tater sauce perfectly paired with the fish and brilliant overall… the creamy dish… do I even have words to explain this, the moist chicken was exquisite. Let me just say, if you find me on death row this is my last meal… overall a fantastic meal For every age, possibly the best meal I’ve ever had, value for money 10/10, food 10/10 wine 11/10 staff 10/10. Thank you Mavi, and I will be back.

Lovely turkish restaurant with great atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff and great food. We made a mistake getting starters as they were a decent portion and mains were a healthy size of well. They managed to beat both of us. Well worth a visit.

When booking a table was warned large party coming in so we went earlier, good job as this is a small restaurant and noise echo was an issue for us. However, thoroughly recommend the restaurant for the quality of the Turkish food (we had a sharing Hot Platter to start followed by grilled lamb chops and a mixed grill) all very well cooked and tasty. Only reason for a lost star was we unfortunately felt the server came across as a little abrasive so we didn’t feel totally comfortable in asking for things. Overall if you like Turkish food recommend give Meva a try.

Spot on, friendly and welcoming. Accommodated our group of 11 brilliantly. All thoroughly enjoyed our food, chicken and lamb succulent and tasty. Sides delicious and piping hot.

I had the vegetarian special wrap and it was ABSOLUTELY delicious, the halloumi wasn’t too salty, the whole wrap was delicious and I loved that is was served with potato skins 😋

3 times I've been to Mavi and every time it's been great, always great service and the food is excellent.

Visited this lovely little place while on holiday. We were a walk-in and they managed to accommodate us despite being very busy. The atmosphere is cosy and the service pleasant and attentive. The food is superb, rustic, hearty Turkish fare. Everything looked so good it was difficult to decide on menu choices. The drinks seemed a tad expensive, but is really just nitpicking at what was a thoroughly enjoyable meal.

Just have been in this lovely restaurant today. Compliments to the lovely stuff and good service. Young girls who were serving us were very kind and lovely. Food was delicious. Little misunderstanding was sorted in no time and we were all safe thanks to the quick reaction. Keep doing good job🤗 We will come again!

Probably the best restaurant I've ever been in the UK. I thought the food would be good but was not expecting such a perfectness! Everything we ordered was awesome. Suat was very kind and friendly, Umit as well. If you ever pass by Berwick, make sure you stop here to eat.

After observing how busy this place was for several days, I now know why; it's the best Turkish food I've eaten outside Turkey (and better than most I've eaten there.) Excellent food, service and staff. But book - it's understandably popular.

A very popular place with the locals. Busy for a Wednesday night in mid April. Superb food, attentive and courteous service. I particularly enjoyed the Mutancana. My regret is I live eighty or so miles away.

Very convenient open hours on a day out in Berwick. We were able to enjoy a lovely hot meal shortly after 4pm. Lovely setting and the waitress looked after us well. The food was beautifully cooked and presented.

Been to MAVI a few times with friends, always a great welcome when you arrive, food is amazing never had a bad meal there. Give it a try you won't be disappointed.

One of the best Turkish meals my husband and I have had and we have visited Turkey many times! For starters we had the calamari which was melt in the mouth and the sucuk which was the best we’ve had. Mains- I had the sea bass, fillets were large and absolutely delicious, and my husband the Adana kebab which he said was so fresh it just fell apart. All served with the freshest salad and a fresh sauce made of herbs and chilli’s. Portions were decent, service was fantastic and with a smile. The place was buzzing and we were lucky to get in on a Saturday night! . Thank you we thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Mavi Restaurant!

We had a superb meal here. We started with a cold sharing platter for 2, shared between the three of us - really good contrast of tastes. Our three main courses - chicken sarma, izmir kofte and lamb guvec were all excellent. A very busy restaurant ona Saturday so please book!

Visited here mid Feb. We managed to get a table without booking, but I suspect we were lucky. Service was warm and welcoming. Food was fantastic. Large and tasty portions. Perhaps a little on the expensive side, but well worth it.

We had to eat out on our flying visit to Berwick so I read the reviews carefully and try to choose a restaurant which is a bit different, prepares fresh meals on the premises and clearly tries to delight customers. Mavi, being "no 4 in Berwick" seemed to fit the bill and we were looking forward to our dinner for over a day - having booked well in advance. Sadly, we were quite disappointed. The ambience is refined and the staff are warm, open and friendly but the food was underwhelming. The mains we chose were hot but lacked flavour - quite bland even. Perhaps they were tailored for a British palate but I found them uninspiring and also suspect they were not freshly prepared. The Orman Kebap (lamb stew) was OK for the first mouthful or so but became monotonous and seemed to contain loads of dill (not something that seems to go with lamb), although we could be wrong. The lamb was not that tender. The Chicken Sarma was similarly bland and monotonous; I had been particularly looking forward to it being "filled with peppers, mushrooms and cheese" but was hard pushed to find much of these within and, in any case, they did not add much flavour. The meal was a little redeemed by the excellent salads we had as sides - crisp, tasty vegetables with simple flavoursome dressings. Delicious. Overall, it was "OK". We ate it as we were hungry and in a hurry, plus we recognise that our opinion may just be a matter of taste. If this had been a special evening and we had had more time, we might have been "impolite" enough to send the food back or to leave without eating it.......... but I doubt it as that sort of thing is just "not done"! We are coming to Berwick again soon, and in the unlikely event we decide to eat out, we will try somewhere else.

The food in there is great. We went a few times by now and it was always yummy. Especially the sharing platter as a starter is amazing! But it is so filling, you might struggle with the main.

We had heard this restaurant was good, so on a day off my wife and I went to bridge street in Berwick and got a table for two. We chose from the superb lunchtime menu. My wife had some amazing chicken wraps and fries. I had a lamb sheesh with some lovely sauce and toasted Turkish bread with salad. Also a nice Turkish beer (recommended as its amazing) The staff were welcoming and could not of been nicer. (we are both in hospitality) Lovely place and lovely environment to have food. We will be back and will tell our friends about this restaurant. Looking forward to exploring the menu in time. Thank you

This is such an amazing restaurant and a real asset to the town. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed but also feels like a special occasion. The service is efficient, professional and courteous. The food is amazing, authentic tasting Turkish dishes full of flavour with top quality ingredients and good sized portions. All beautifully presented sizzling in rustic tableware.

Popped in for lunch. The staff were friendly and polite. We went for aubergine moussaka with a selection of 4 starters. Really delicious, good value for money. The apple tea was smashing too. I thoroughly recommend eating here.

Had the lunch menu for 2 ,excellent 4 starters we shared and mains of chicken and one of pork . All beautifully presented and tasted as good as lt looked. Will be back the next time we are in town

Not the best I’ve had here, went for the mixed grill, lamb chop and lamb pieces was very tough, the cold rice pudding was however very tasty

Great Turkish food in a convivial atmosphere with good service. Loved the lighter lunch choices which were not only super tasty but excellent value for money. Our group of 6 had 4 different dishes between us & all were thoroughly enjoyed.

Went for an early New years eve meal and we were not disappointed. The food ,service and atmosphere were all ten out of of ten and we would definitely visit again if in the area. Highly recommended.

A very enjoyable meal at this restaurant. A warm welcome on arrival and the atmosphere is both cosy and stylish. Food extremely good quality and value and the wines highly affordable. I had 4 lamb chops which were delicious with minimal fat. The accompanying salad matched very well and the dip was very tasty and no unnecessary heat to overwhelm the palate. Highly recommended for both the food and the experience.

Such a lovely warm welcome, great food and a lovely atmosphere. We enjoyed a lovely evening at Mavi and would definitely recommend visiting. The staff were helpful and attentive without being pushy, the food was absolutely gorgeous and we had plenty to eat. We thought it was good value for what we had, and will definitely go back if we are in Berwick again.
