Niko’s Greek Taberna in Northumberland

Where to start! I absolutely loved everything about my recent visit to Niko's. The staff were so friendly, the atmosphere was brilliant and the food was really, really good. Especially for veggies, too! It's such a gem on the Morpeth high street and super well-priced. Would highly recommend to anyone - residents or visitors!

Fabulous little restaurant, the food is lovely, the staff are friendly and couldn't help any more than they did. Second visit here and it won't be the last.

Typical in my experience greek restaurant , all the above were all what you'd expect. Rarely bad .....a little bias on my part as I love Greece

Ordered a takeaway to collect from here tonight. I ordered the stuffed vine leaves as a starter, and the chicken Gyros as a main. First time I've had food from Niko's, and I'm pleased I ordered. The food was very nice indeed, and the service was on point. Friendly staff, clean and inviting looking restaurant. I wouldn't hesitate to order from here again. Five stars all round.

Loved it so much, we are returning at the end of the month for birthday celebrations! It was fairly quiet the night we went. As usual food and service was spot on. I will mention that the Lamb wasn't the usual shank...please stick with the Shank rather than the cuts of lamb. Other than that, everything was spot on. See you soon Niko's

Reasonably priced, lovely food and such a lovely welcome and service from Costas! If ever we're back in the area we'll sure visit again!

Excellent fresh food. Wonderful service. Passing through Morpeth tonight and stumbled upon this fantastic Greek Taverna. Thank you for accommodating us as a late drop in. We were made to feel welcome. If I'm ever passing through again, I will be back. Highly recommended.

Good friendly staff, my meal started with Calamari (very chewy) main meal was pork Souvlaki ( six small pieces of meat which I found to be very dry, served with a light salad and flat bread, it was ok, but not worth the money. I won't be returning in a hurry

Love this place. Good, hearty Greek food. Great atmosphere and service. Unpretentious and friendly. Great place for a relaxed meal, whatever the occasion - or even if there isn't one!

First meal at Niko's Greek Taberna and what an experience. Polite professional family atmosphere from the moment we walked in. The menu is mouth watering and the presentation and taste is divine. We will be making Niko's a regular venue.

Moved to Morpeth in the Summer of '22 and been here a few times. Great service and food every time. Sounds cheesy but it is like eating in a restaurant in Greece (minus the sunshine and stray cats!)

On a wet Wednesday in Morpeth enjoyed a fantastic meal at Nikos. Attentive staff and prompt service complimented the amazing food we enjoyed.

We regularly dine here because the food is consistently amazing! Every time we have been we have tried different things off the menu and we've never been disappointed with anything we have had, everything tastes fresh, cooked properly, and is presented wonderfully. I have to single out the Greek manager/owner (don't know his name) for always being so amazingly welcoming and friendly, he could not do enough for his guests in his restaurant. 10/10 will keep coming back here.

Great service, friendly staff and good food 👏🏼 will definitely recommend and come back again. Went for my boyfriend's birthday and they gave him a slice of cake, sang happy birthday and felt we were really cared for all evening. Unreal chips!

This the second time we have been to Niko's and once again we had really good food, great service in a nice relaxed environment. We will definitely be back.

Another happy visit! The food is fresh and delicious, and all the staff are so happy and friendly. There's a set menu between 1700-1800, and a larger choice menu available any time. My favourite is the halloumi platter.

Food was delicious and decently portioned. Service was good (especially from the owner). The owner takes allot of pride in his restaurant which reflects well on him.

Our first visit but definitely not our last. Staff there are so friendly and welcoming and take care of you. The food was excellent, great to have a little bit of Greece locally. We will definitely be back. The atmosphere on the Saturday night we went was excellent.

Great night at nikos! Manager and staff all lovely food was excellent, shame 1 table ruined our experience as the way they were rude to the staff over little a disagreement we believe other than that great night recommend highly. Food is absolutely gorgeous!!

Great food, miscommunication on set menus so paid extra for dessert, questioned bill at end on this and manager's attitude towards was disgraceful would not be coming back. Suggest customer service course for manager as extremely rude!!!

3 of us dined tonight having early specials menu. Well planned seating. Staff were attentive & helpful. All of thought our food was very well presented & delicious. Excellent value for money. We shall return

Food is always top class, the gyros plate is a good portion and great for those who want to dip into greek food, there is also a good selection for those who want to try classic Greek food and the lamb is brilliant. Deserts are a bit boring and could probably do with being reworked but all on all, a great place to eat.

Took an hour for the starters to come. Some food was cold and took ages to get attention from 2 of the waiters for food, drink and the bill. The table behind us also complained about the wait for the food.

I’ve eaten here a couple of times and the food is good. My issue is with how difficult it is to book! Phone never gets answered, with no option to leave voicemail, and it’s ridiculous imho for the preferred mode of contact to be Facebook

Warm and friendly welcome. Service fantastic, the waitress that served our table was very knowledgable about the menu. The wine we ordered was wonderful, starter’s were outstanding and main course was out of this world. PERFECTION. It is a family run restaurant and they definitely take pride in their food. The place to go. Thank you very much for the best meal I have had in a long time. 👏👏👏👏👏

This is 2nd visit to the restaurant. The service was 10out 10. The food was well presented. The group of 14 was always well looked after, even to the cutting of a separately bought birtdaycake. A great night was had by all.

Had a lovely meal. Staff were fabulous. Only complaint, they didn’t write any of the orders down as they took them and some mistakes were made with the food. But they were corrected. Would definitely go again.

A great night with fabulous food and outstanding service. A warm welcome and water provided instantly. The menu was varied and everything looked tempting. Given plenty of time to make our choices and drinks arrived. The food was very good. We all had different dishes and we all had something of all the dishes. Not one complaint , all delicious. The portion sizes are generous but it was so good nothing left on the plate. I will go back and would highly recommend you give it a try.

On a positive note the lamb I had was fantastic. But that's where the positivity ends........My wife had the Sakanaki starter which she has had many times before both in this country and in Greece but this was very disappointing. Was basically greasy Halloumi and my wife is convinced it was the grilling cheese that we buy from Costco. Service wise pretty poor as well, food was quick but once we had finished our meals and our plates were cleared we just sat.......and sat..... Expecting someone to come and offer us another drink or coffee but no one came so we upped and left after having to go to the bar to pay.

Outstanding service, superb fresh food and a really nice environment. Popped in with our two young kids at 4:50 and they opened up early and couldn't do enough for us. Really, really good.

Went without a reservation not long after opening. No problem with getting a table. Great service. Amazing food, and authentic Greek menu. Great starters - gigantes in a tomato and feta sauce and baked feta with peppers, onions and tomato. Kleftico was superb.Kotopolo Santorini was delicious. Big portions so go hungry!! Very reasonably priced. Will definitely visit again.

The restaurant is beautifully decorated in the Greek 'style' and spotlessly clean. We ordered our meals from the 3 course set menu and were delighted with the quality and quantity of the food. The service and host were most attentive and very friendly. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

The seating area of this restaurant was a lot bigger than expected so it means the tables are nicely spaced which keeps the noise down. Service was excellent, there was a good menu and prices were decent. The food arrived quickly and was nicely cooked and presented. Attentive staff and a nice atmosphere.

Great place. Friendly welcome and really helpful staff. Mixed starters for 6 gave us a great choice and all the mains we chose were cooked perfectly with lots of dips and sundries. Very good dry Rosé wine too.

Great atmosphere and service here. Tzatziki, chicken kebabs and salads are lovely. We had the early evening specials which are great value! Mojito mocktails are really spectacular. Tiny from the outside very spacious inside. Recommend!
